USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.77; (P) 111.04; (R1) 111.57; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside for 112.14 resistance. As noted before, the correction from 113.17 should have completed at 109.76 already. Break of 112.14 will bring retest of 113.17 high. On the downside, below 110.74 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 109.76 again. But after all, we’d continue to expect strong support around 38.2% retracement of 104.62 to 113.17 at 109.90 to bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, corrective fall from 118.65 (2016 high) should have completed with three waves down to 104.62. Decisive break of 114.73 resistance will likely resume whole rally from 98.97 (2016 low) to 100% projection of 98.97 to 118.65 from 104.62 at 124.30, which is reasonably close to 125.85 (2015 high). This will stay as the preferred case as long as 109.36 support holds. However, decisive break of 109.36 will mix up the outlook again. And deeper fall should be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 104.62 to 113.17 at 107.88 and below.

USD/JPY’s rally resumes after brief consolidation and intraday bias is back on the upside for 113.17 resistance. Decisive break there will resume whole rally from 104.62 and target 114.73 resistance next. On the downside, below 112.39 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again. But near term outlook will remain cautiously bullish as long as 111.82 resistance turned support holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 104.29; (P) 104.78; (R1) 105.05; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral with focus on 104.39 resistance turned support. Decisive break there will indicate that rebound from 102.58 has completed at 105.76. Intraday bias will be turned to the downside for 103.31 support first. Though, rebound from current level, followed by break of 105.76 will target 38.2% retracement of 111.71 to 102.58 at 106.06.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016), and there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. Though, sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 105.90) will be the first sign of reversal and turn focus to channel resistance (now at 110.31).

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 121.82; (P) 123.078; (R1) 124.14; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral and further rise is still in favor with 121.17 minor support intact. On the upside, above 125.09 will target 161.8% projection of 109.11 to 116.34 from 114.40 at 126.09, which is close to 125.85 long term resistance. However, break of 121.17 will indicate short term topping, and bring deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 98.97 (2016 low) in in progress for retesting 125.85 (2015 high). Sustained break there will confirm long term up trend resumption. Next target will be 61.8% projection of 75.56 (2011 low) to 125.85 (2015 high) from 98.97 at 130.04. This will now remain the favored case as long as 116.34 resistance turned support holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 106.64; (P) 106.94; (R1) 107.16; More...

USD/JPY drops to as low as 106.36 so far and break of 106.63 suggests resumption of fall from 108.16. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 106.07 support. Break there will extend the corrective pattern from 111.71 to 61.8% retracement of 101.18 to 111.71 at 105.20. On the upside, break of 107.54 resistance is needed to indicate completion of the decline. Otherwise, outlook will remain cautiously bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec 2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. However, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the down trend and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY’s strong rebound last week confirms short term bottoming at 140.25, on bullish convergence condition in 4H MACD. Nevertheless, price actions from there are likely just correcting the fall from 151.89. While further rally cannot be ruled out, upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 151.89 to 140.25 at 147.44. On the downside, below 143.17 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 140.25 low.

In the bigger picture, for now, fall from 151.89 is still seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 151.89. Another decline through 140.25 will target 61.8% retracement of 127.20 to 151.89 at 136.63. Sustained break there will pave the way to 127.20 support (2022 low). However, firm break of 147.44 fibonacci resistance will dampen this view and bring retest of 151.89 instead.

In the long term picture, as long as 125.85 resistance turned support holds (2015 high), up trend from 75.56 (2011 low) is still in favor to continue through 151.93 (2022 high) at a later stage.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.09; (P) 112.40; (R1) 112.92; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, break of 113.32 will revive near term bullishness and turn bias to the upside for 114.73. On the downside, however, decisive break of 111.64 support will argue that whole rebound from 107.31 has completed. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 101.14 and below.

In the bigger picture, medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is not completed yet. It should resume after corrective fall from 118.65 completes. Break of 114.49 resistance will likely resume the rise to 61.8% projection of 98.97 to 118.65 from 107.31 at 119.47 first. Firm break there will pave the way to 100% projection at 126.99. This will be the key level to decide whether long term up trend is resuming. However, firm break of 111.64 support will dampen this view and turn focus back to 107.31 instead.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY rose further to 111.65 last week but failed to break through 111.71 key resistance and retreated. Initial bias remains neutral this week first but another rise remains in favor with 110.41 support intact. On the upside, sustained break of 111.71 will carry larger implication. Next target is 61.8% projection of 102.58 to 110.95 from 107.47 at 112.64. However, break of 110.41 will indicate short term topping and bring pull back 55 day EMA (now at 109.61).

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. Though, as notable support was seen from 55 day EMA, rise from 102.58 is mildly in favor to extend higher. Decisive break of 111.71/112.22 resistance will suggest medium term bullish reversal. Rise from 101.18 could then target 118.65 resistance (Dec 2016) and above. However, sustained break of 55 day EMA would revive some medium term bearishness, and open up deep fall to 61.8% retracement of 102.58 to 110.95 at 105.77 and below.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 (2011 low) long term bottom to 125.85 (2015 high) is viewed as an impulsive move, no change in this view. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective pattern which could still extend. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77. Up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.95; (P) 111.13; (R1) 111.39; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 112.13 continues. As long as 110.35 support holds, near term outlook remains bullish and rise from 104.69 is still in favor to resume. On the upside, break of 112.13 will target 114.54 resistance next. However, firm break of 110.35 should confirm near term reversal and turn outlook bearish for 108.49 support and below.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 104.69 argues that decline from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.69, after failing 104.62. More importantly, the rise from 98.97 (2016 low) could be resuming. Decisive break of 114.54 resistance will add more credence to this bullish case and target 118.65. This will now be the favored case as long as 110.35 support holds. However, firm break of 110.35 will mix up the medium term outlook again and turn focus back to 104.69 low.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.67; (P) 111.22; (R1) 111.72; More…

USD/JPY’s decline from 115.49 is still in progress for the moment. Sustained trading below 111.12/13 cluster support (61.8% projection of 118.65 to 111.58 from 115.49 at 111.12 and 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13) will pave the way to 100% projection at 108.42. Nonetheless, rebound from there current level, and break of 112.86 resistance will indicates completion of the correction from 118.65. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 115.49 resistance and above.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.12) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 133.20; (P) 134.05; (R1) 135.06; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral first as it’s staying above 132.27 temporary low. Fall from 137.90 could still extend lower and break of 132.27 will target 61.8% retracement of 127.20 to 137.90 at 131.28. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 127.20 low. Break of 137.90 resistance is needed to confirm resumption of the rally from 127.20, or risk will stay mildly on the downside.

In the bigger picture, rebound from 127.20 should have completed at 137.90 as a corrective move, with strong break of 55 day EMA. The down trend from 151.93 (2022 high) is not over yet. Break of 127.20 will resume this down trend and target 61.8% projection of 151.93 to 127.20 from 137.90 at 122.61. This will now be the favored case as long as 137.90 resistance holds.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

USD/JPY retreats further today but loss is limited so far. Intraday bias stays neutral for consolidation below 115.49 temporary top. Deeper retreat could be seen to 4 hour 55 EMA (now at 114.22). But downside should be contained well above 113.60 support and bring another rally. As noted before, corrective decline from 118.65 should have completed with a a double bottom pattern (111.58, 111.68). Above 115.49 should turn bias to the upside and pave the way for a test on 118.65. Decisive break there will extend whole rise from 98.97 and target 125.85 high next. However, break of 113.60 will invalidate our view and turn bias back to the downside for 111.58/68 support zone instead.

Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation from 110.21 temporary top and intraday bias remains neutral first. Downside of retreat should be contained by 109.24 minor support to bring rally resumption. On the upside, break of 110.21 will extend whole rise from 104.45 to 100% projection of 106.48 to 109.72 from 107.65 at 110.89 next.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is staying in long term falling channel that started at 118.65 (Dec. 2016). There is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. Hence, rise from 104.45 is seen as a correction and down trend could still extend through 104.45 low. However, sustained break of the channel resistance will be an important sign of bullish reversal and target 114.54 resistance for confirmation.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

USD/JPY drops sharply to as low as 110.33 but recovered ahead of 110.28 resistance turned support. Intraday bias remains neutral and another rise is still mildly in favor. Firm break of 112.40 resistance will affirm medium term bullishness and target 114.54 key resistance next. However, sustained break of 110.28 would raise the chance that whole rise from 104.45 has completed. Deeper fall would be seen back to 108.30 support first.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that corrective fall from 118.65 (Dec 2016) might have completed with three waves down to 104.45 already. Focus is back of 114.54 key resistance. Decisive break there will confirm this case and bring resumption of whole rise from 98.97 (2016 low) towards 125.85 (2015 high). This will remain the favored case as long as 108.30 support holds.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside in spite of current retreat. Sustained trading above 100% projection of 109.11 to 116.34 from 114.40 at 121.63, will pave the way to 125.85 long term resistance. On the downside, however, below 120.58 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, the break of 118.65 resistance (2016 high) suggest that up trend from 98.97 (2016 low) is resuming, with rise from 101.18 (2020 low) as the third leg. Medium term outlook will remain bullish as long as 113.46 low. Next target is 125.85 (2015 high).

A temporary low is formed at 105.11 with breach of 105.66 minor resistance. Intraday bias is turned neutral for some consolidations first. But recovery should be limited by 106.63 support turned resistance to bring another fall. On the downside, break of 105.11 will extend the fall from 111.71 to 100% projection of 111.71 to 105.98 from 109.85 at 104.12 next.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Decisive break of 109.72 resistance will resume whole rise from 104.45 to channel resistance (now at 111.46). On the downside, below 109.00 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. But overall outlook will remain bullish as long as 38.2% retracement of 104.45 to 109.72 at 107.70 holds.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is staying in long term falling channel that started at 118.65 (Dec. 2016). Recovery from 104.45 also failed to sustain above 55 week EMA (now at 109.02). Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for the moment as fall from 115.49 continues. As noted before, consolidation pattern from 111.58 has completed with three waves up to 115.49. And decline from 118.65 is likely resuming. Further fall should be seen through 111.58 to 111.12/13 cluster support. This level represents 61.8% projection of 118.65 to 111.58 from 115.49 at 111.12 and 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13. At this point, we’d tentatively expect strong support from 111.12/13 cluster support to contain downside. On the upside, above 113.53 minor resistance will turn bias to the up for 115.49 resistance. However, sustained break of 111.12/13 will bring deeper decline to 100% projection of 118.65 to 111.58 from 115.49 at 108.42.

Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.19) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

In the bigger picture, fall from 139.37 medium term top is seen as correcting whole up trend from 101.18 (2020 low). While deeper decline cannot be ruled out, outlook will stays bullish as long as 55 week EMA (now at 122.70) holds. Long term up trend is expected to resume through 139.37 at a later stage, after the correction finishes.
