USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 148.34; (P) 148.75; (R1) 149.47; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside for the moment. Corrective fall from 150.87 should have completed at 146.47, after drawing support from 38.2% retracement of 140.25 to 150.87 at 146.81. Further rally should be seen to 150.87/89 key resistance zone. Nevertheless, on the downside, below 148.02 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that price action from 151.89 (2023 high) are correction to up trend from 127.20 (2023 low). The question is whether this correction has completed at 140.25, or extending with fall from 150.87 as the third leg. Sustained break of above mentioned 146.81 fibonacci level will favor the latter case. But even so, downside should be contained by 50% retracement of 127.20 to 151.89 at 139.54

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.93; (P) 108.28; (R1) 108.75; More..

USD/JPY’s rally is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside. Current rally from 102.58 should target long term channel resistance at 110.02 next. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications. On the downside, below 107.81 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations. But outlook will stay bullish as long as 106.21 resistance turned support holds.

In the bigger picture, focus is now back on long term channel resistance (now at 110.02). Sustained break there will indicate that the down trend from 118.65 (Dec 2016) has completed. Further break of 112.22 resistance will confirm this bullish case and target 118.65 next. However, rejection by the channel resistance will keep medium term outlook bearish.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 143.18; (P) 144.20; (R1) 145.89; More…

USD/JPY’s recovery from 141.59 continues today, and further rally could be seen. But upside should be limited below 147.14 support turned resistance. On the downside, below 143.75 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 141.59. Break of 141.59 and sustained trading below 142.45 fibonacci level will pave the way to next fibonacci level at 136.63.

In the bigger picture, current fall from 151.89 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 151.93 (2022 high). Deeper decline would be seen through 38.2% retracement of 127.20 to 151.89 at 142.45 to 61.8% retracement at 136.63. This will now remain the favored as long as 147.14 support turned resistance holds.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY edged lower to 112.04 last week but lose momentum again and recovered. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Choppy decline from 118.65 is seen as a corrective move. Below 112.04 will bring deeper fall but we’d expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, on the upside, above 115.36 resistance will argue that such correction is finished and turn bias to the upside for 118.65. Break will resume whole rise from 98.97 and target 125.85 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 long term bottom to 125.85 medium term top is viewed as an impulsive move. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. But, up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 132.90; (P) 133.25; (R1) 133.86; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY stays mildly on the upside at this point. Rebound from 130.55 short term bottom would extend to 38.2% retracement of 151.93 to 130.55 at 138.71 first. On the downside, however, break of 132.62 minor support will bring retest of 130.55 instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 151.93 medium term could be just a corrective pattern to up trend from 102.58 (2021 low). Strong support from 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 151.93 at 133.07 and 55 week EMA (now at 131.76) will set the range for such corrective pattern. However, sustained break of 55 week EMA will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 121.43.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 142.15; (P) 142.66; (R1) 143.30; More…

While USD/JPY’s recovery from 140.94 extends higher today, outlook is unchanged. Upside of recovery should be limited well below 146.58 resistance to bring another decline. On the downside, break of 140.94 will resume the fall from 151.89 to next fibonacci level at 136.63.

In the bigger picture, fall from 151.89 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 151.93 (2022 high). Deeper decline would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 127.20 to 151.89 at 136.63, sustained break there will pave the way to 127.20 support (2022 low). This will now remain the favored as long as 146.58 resistance holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.09; (P) 110.84; (R1) 112.02; More...

USD/JPY edged higher to 111.59 but quickly retreated. Intraday bias remains neutral for now. Deeper retreat could be seen as consolidation extends. But overall, further rise is expected as long as 106.75 support holds. Decisive break of 112.22 key resistance will carry larger bullish implication and target 114.54 resistance next. On the downside, break of 106.75 support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 101.18 low instead.

In the bigger picture, at this point, whole decline from 118.65 (Dec 2016) continues to display a corrective look, with well channeling. There is no clear sign of completion yet. Break of 101.18 will target 98.97 (2016 low). Meanwhile, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the decline and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.16; (P) 109.35; (R1) 109.58; More…

USD/JPY is staying in range of 109.14/110.00 and intraday bias remains neutral. On the upside, break of 110.00 will resume the rebound from 104.69. But we’d expect strong resistance from 61.8% retracement of 114.54 to 104.69 at 110.77 to limit upside. On the downside, break of 109.14 minor support will be the first sign of completion of the rebound. Intraday bias will then be turned back to the downside for 107.77 minor support first.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 104.69 is strong, there is no change in the view that it’s a corrective move. That is, fall from 114.54, as part of the decline from 118.65 (2016 high), is not completed yet. Break of 104.62 will target 100% projection of 118.65 to 104.62 from 114.54 at 100.51, which is close to 100 psychological level. Nevertheless, sustained trading above 55 day EMA (now at 110.82) will dampen this bearish view and turn focus back to 114.54 resistance instead.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.39; (P) 135.89; (R1) 136.66; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY stays neutral at this point. On the upside, decisive break of break of 61.8% projection of 114.40 to 131.34 from 126.35 at 136.81 will extend larger up trend. Next target is 100% projection at 143.29. On the downside, below 134.25 will extend the correction from 136.70 with another fall.

In the bigger picture, current rally is seen as part of the long term up trend from 75.56 (2011 low). Next target is 100% projection of 75.56 (2011 low) to 125.85 (2015 high) from 98.97 at 149.26, which is close to 147.68 (1998 high). This will remain the favored case as long as 126.35 support holds.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.07; (P) 113.20; (R1) 113.34; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains mildly on the upside as rebound from 111.37 is resuming. Further rise should be seen for 114.54/73 key resistance zone next. On the downside, break of 112.56 minor support will argue the the rebound has completed. And, in that case, the corrective pattern from 114.54 could have started the third leg for 111.37 support and possibly below.

In the bigger picture, corrective fall from 118.65 (2016 high) should have completed with three waves down to 104.62. Decisive break of 114.73 resistance will likely resume whole rally from 98.97 (2016 low) to 100% projection of 98.97 to 118.65 from 104.62 at 124.30, which is reasonably close to 125.85 (2015 high). This will stay as the preferred case as long as 109.76 support holds. However, decisive break of 109.76 will dampen this bullish view and turns outlook mixed again.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY edged higher to 112.13 last week but dropped sharply since then. Initial bias remains on the downside this week with focus on 110.35 support. With 110.35 support intact, near term outlook remains bullish and rise from 104.69 is still in favor to resume. On the upside, break of 112.13 will target 114.54 resistance next. However, firm break of 110.35 should confirm near term reversal and turn outlook bearish for 108.49 support and below.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 104.69 argues that decline from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.69, after failing 104.62. More importantly, the rise from 98.97 (2016 low) could be resuming. Decisive break of 114.54 resistance will add more credence to this bullish case and target 118.65. This will now be the favored case as long as 110.35 support holds. However, firm break of 110.35 will mix up the medium term outlook again and turn focus back to 104.69 low.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 (2011 low) long term bottom to 125.85 (2015 high) is viewed as an impulsive move, no change in this view. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77. Up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 118.25; (P) 118.69; (R1) 119.19; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Current rally should target 100% projection of 109.11 to 116.34 from 114.40 at 121.63. On the downside, break of 117.68 support is now needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that rise from 102.58 is the third leg of the up trend from 101.18 (2020 low). Sustained break of 118.65 (2016 high) will pave the way to 125.85 (2015 high) and raise the chance of long term up trend resumption. This will remain the favored case as long as 113.46 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY recovered further last week but stayed below 150.15. Initial bias remains neutral this week and more consolidative trading could be seen. On the downside, below 148.24 minor support will turn bias to the downside for another down leg through 147.28. On the upside, firm break of 150.15 will resume larger up trend to test 151.93 high.

In the bigger picture, while rise from 127.20 is strong, it could still be seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 151.93 (2022 high). Rejection by 151.93, followed by sustained break of 145.06 resistance turned support will be the first sign that the third leg of the pattern has started. However, sustained break of 151.93 will confirm resumption of long term up trend.

In the long term picture, price action from 151.93 is seen as developing into a corrective pattern to up trend from 75.56 (2011 low). Another falling leg could be seen, but in that case, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 75.56 to 151.93 at 122.75. On resumption, next target would be 61.8% projection of 102.58 to 151.93 from 127.20 at 157.69.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.80; (P) 109.28; (R1) 109.53; More…

USD/JPY’s correction from 110.95 resumes by breaking 108.99. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 108.40 and below. We’d expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 110.95 at 107.75 to bring rebound. On the upside, above 109.95 will bring retest of 110.95 high.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that the corrective down trend from 118.65 (Dec 2016) has completed at 101.18. Firm break of 112.22 resistance should confirms this bullish case. A medium term up trend could then has started for 100% projection of 101.18 to 111.71 from 102.58 at 113.11 and then 161.8% projection at 119.61. However, rejection by 111.71, followed by sustained trading below 55 day EMA (now at 107.74), will dampen the bullish view and keep medium term outlook neutral first.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.02; (P) 111.60; (R1) 111.98; More….

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, break of 112.19 temporary will turn bias back to the upside for 115.49 resistance. Decisive break there should confirm completion of the correction from 118.65. In that case, further rise should be seen to 118.65 and above to resume the rally from 98.97. On the downside, though, below 110.99 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 110.10 and break will extend the corrective fall from 118.65.

Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.16) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.85; (P) 109.10; (R1) 109.38; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. Consolidation from 110.02 is extending and deeper fall could be seen through 108.64. But downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 104.62 to 110.02 at 107.95 to bring rally resumption. On the upside, break of 110.02 will resume the rise from 104.62 to 61.8% retracement of 114.73 to 104.62 at 110.86 next.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.62. Rise from 104.62 is possibly resuming the up trend from 98.97 (2016 low). This will be the preferred case as long as 55 day EMA (now at 107.95) holds. Decisive break of 114.73 resistance will confirm our view and target 118.65 and above. However, sustained break of 55 day EMA will dampen this bullish view and turn focus back to 104.62 low instead.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.43; (P) 109.65; (R1) 110.09; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Current rise from 104.62 should target 61.8% retracement of 114.73 to 104.62 at 110.86 next. On the downside, below 108.96 will turn intraday bias neutral again and bring consolidations.

In the bigger picture, break of 108.12 support turned resistance now suggests that corrective fall from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.62. And, rise from 98.97 (2016 low) could be resuming. Focus is back on 114.73 resistance and break there will pave the way to 118.65 and above. This will now be the preferred case as long as USD/JPY stays above 55 day EMA (now at 107.78).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.07; (P) 135.42; (R1) 136.06; More…

Range trading continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 134.25 support will indicate short term topping at 136.99. Intraday bias will be back on the downside for 131.34 support resistance turned support. Nevertheless, firm break of 136.99 will resume larger up trend to 100% projection of 114.40 to 131.34 from 126.35 at 143.29.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.39; (P) 110.56; (R1) 110.82; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral at this point. Below 110.27 will bring deeper fall to 109.367 support. Break there will confirm that corrective pattern from 111.39 has started the third leg. And USD/JPY should target 108.10, and possibly below. In that case, we’d expect downside to be contained by 61.8% retracement of 104.62 to 111.39 at 107.20. On the upside, above 111.13 will bring retest of 111.39 instead.

In the bigger picture, at this point, we’re slightly favoring the case that corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.62. Above 111.39 will affirm this view and target 114.73 for confirmation. However, it should be noted that USD/JPY is bounded in medium term falling channel from 118.65 (2016 high). Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 104.62 to 111.39 at 107.20 will likely resume the fall from 118.65 through 104.62 low.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.10; (P) 108.78; (R1) 109.46; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for the moment. Deeper fall could be seen to 61.8% retracement of 104.62 to 111.39 at 107.20. Break will likely resume larger decline from 118.65 for a new low below 104.62. On the upside, break of 109.82 is needed to confirm completion of the fall from 111.39. Otherwise, near term outlook will be mildly bearish even in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY remains bounded in medium term falling channel from 118.65 (2016 high). The development. Current deeper than expected fall from 111.39 argues that fall from 118.65 is not finished. Break of 104.62 low would target 98.97 or even below. Though, break of 111.39 will revive the case that fall from 118.65 has completed and turn focus to 114.73 for confirmation.
