USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.48; (P) 110.80; (R1) 111.12; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral at this point. On the upside, break of 111.47 will affirm the case that correction from 114.73 is finished with three waves down to 110.18. Intraday bias should then be turned back to the upside for 113.38 resistance for confirmation. However, below 110.18 will extend the correction lower. But we’d again look for bottoming signal in next fall.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed at 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is going to resume soon. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this view and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.51; (P) 112.68; (R1) 112.92; More…

Despite the strong rebound from 112.05, USD/JPY is staying in range of 112.02/113.74 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Near term outlook stays bullish as long as 112.02 support holds and further rise is expected. Break of 113.74 will resume the rebound from 110.83 and target 114.73 key resistance. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications. However, break of 112.02 will likely extend the corrective pattern from 114.73 with another leg through 110.83 support.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.36; (P) 110.84; (R1) 111.14; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for further decline to 108.81 support. Break there will resume whole correction from 118.65 and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. Nonetheless, break of 112.18 resistance will dampen this bearish view and turn focus back to 114.49 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, the corrective structure of the fall from 118.65 suggests that rise from 98.97 is not completed yet. Break of 118.65 will target a test on 125.85 high. At this point, it’s uncertain whether rise from 98.97 is resuming the long term up trend from 75.56, or it’s a leg in the consolidation from 125.85. Hence, we’ll be cautious on topping as it approaches 125.85. If fall from 118.65 extends lower, down side should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.10; (P) 108.70; (R1) 109.36; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains mildly on the downside. The fall from 114.73 has just resumed. It’s part of the pattern from 118.65 high and should target 106.48 fibonacci level. On the upside, break of 110.47 resistance is needed to indicate near term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the corrective pattern from 118.65 is extending. There is risk of dropping further to 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. But this level should provide strong support to contain downside and bring resumption of rise from 98.97. However, sustained break of 106.48 will now likely send USD/JPY through 98.97 to resume the corrective fall from 125.85 (2015 high).

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

USD/JPY dips to as low as 112.65 so far today. But it’s staying in range of 112.02/113.74. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. Also, near term outlook stays bullish as long as 112.02 support holds. Break of 113.74 will resume the rebound from 110.83 and target 114.73 key resistance. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications. However, break of 112.02 will likely extend the corrective pattern from 114.73 with another leg through 110.83 support.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.75; (P) 113.95; (R1) 114.18; More…

USD/JPY rebounds strongly after drawing support from 4 hour 55 EMA but it’s staying below 114.94 resistance. Intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, decisive break of 114.94 resistance should confirm completion of the corrective pull back from 118.65. This would be supported by a double bottom pattern (111.58, 111.68). In such case, intraday bias will be turned to the upside for retesting 118.65. In case of another decline, we’d still expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.94; (P) 113.24; (R1) 113.58; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for 111.58 low. Current development argues that consolidation from 111.58 has completed with three waves to 115.49. And larger decline from 118.65 is resuming. Break of 111.58 will target 61.8% projection of 118.65 to 111.58 from 115.49 at 111.12. That coincides with 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13. We’d tentatively expect strong support from there to bring rebound. But firm break there will target 100% projection at 108.42. On the upside, outlook will stays bearish as long as 115.49 holds, in case of recovery.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY recovered after hitting 110.61 last week and recovered. But such recover was held at 112.1. Subsequent breach of 110.61 suggests that fall from 114.49 is resuming. Initial bias is now on the downside this week for 108.81 support first.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 long term bottom to 125.85 top is viewed as an impulsive move. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. But, up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.17; (P) 112.66; (R1) 113.02; More…

Focus in USD/JPY remains on 113.43 resistance. Firm break there will resume the rise from 107.31 and target 114.49 resistance. More importantly current development revives the case that correction from 118.65 has completed at 107.31. Decisive break of 114.49 will pave the way to retest 118.65 high. However, break of 111.64 will mixed up the outlook again and turn bias back to the downside for deeper fall.

In the bigger picture, rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 125.85 (2015 high). It’s unclear whether this second leg has completed at 118.65 or not. But medium term outlook will be mildly bearish as long as 114.49 resistance holds. And, there is prospect of breaking 98.97 ahead. Meanwhile, break of 114.49 will bring retest of 125.85 high. But even in that case, we don’t expect a break there on first attempt.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.98; (P) 110.52; (R1) 111.19; More….

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation from 109.83 and intraday bias remains neutral. Further rise could be seen. But still, near term outlook stays bearish as long as 112.18 resistance holds and deeper fall is expected. Break of 109.83 will target 108.81 support first. Break there will resume whole correction from 118.65 and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. Nonetheless, break of 112.18 resistance will dampen our bearish view and turn focus back to 114.49 resistance instead.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.84; (P) 113.03; (R1) 113.29; More…

USD/JPY recovers today but remains bounded in range of 111.58/114.94. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Corrective fall from 118.65 could extend lower through 111.58. But we’d still expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 114.94 resistance should confirm completion of pull back from 118.65. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 118.65.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for 107.31 low. Break will target next fibonacci support at 106.48. On the upside, break of 110.18 support turned resistance will be the first sign of near term reversal and will turn bias back to the upside for 111.47 resistance.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the corrective pattern from 118.65 is extending. There is risk of dropping further to 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. But this level should provide strong support to contain downside and bring resumption of rise from 98.97. However, sustained break of 106.48 will now likely send USD?JPY through 98.97 to resume the corrective fall from 125.85 (2015 high).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.05; (P) 111.34; (R1) 111.76; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 110.83 temporary low. As long as 112.71 resistance holds, fall from 114.73 is expected to continue. Below 110.83 will target 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14. For the moment, we’re still favoring the case medium term corrective pattern from 118.65 has completed at 107.31 already. Hence, we’ll looking for bottoming below 110.14 to bring another rise. On the upside, break of 112.71 will suggest that the fall from 114.73 is completed and turn bias to the upside for retesting this resistance.

In the bigger picture, as long as 107.31 support holds, medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is not completed yet. And another rise is in favor. Break of 114.73 resistance will target a test on 118.65 high first. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this will and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Price actions from 118.65 are viewed as a corrective move. Firm break of 114.94 resistance will indicate that it’s completed, on a double bottom pattern (111.58, 111.68). In such case, intraday bias will be turned to the upside for retesting 118.65. Also, the whole rise from 98.97 is likely resuming. On the downside, in case of another fall, we’d still expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.47; (P) 111.80; (R1) 112.27; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as recovery from 110.83 is still limited well below 112.71 resistance. Another fall remains mildly in favor. Break of 110.83 will target 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14. We’re still favoring the case medium term corrective pattern from 118.65 has completed at 107.31 already.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 157.16; (P) 157.44; (R1) 157.94; More…

Immediate focus is now on 156.57 minor support in USD/JPY. Decisive break there will confirm short term topping at 157.70, on bearish divergence condition in 4 H MACD. Intraday bias will be back on the downside for 153.59 support. Firm break there will target 151.86 and below as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 160.20.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top might be formed at 160.20. But as long as 150.87 resistance turned support holds, fall from there is seen as correcting rise from 150.25 only. However, decisive break of 150.87 will argue that larger correction is possibly underway, and target 146.47 support next.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.09; (P) 108.65; (R1) 109.00; More….

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation above 108.12 temporary low and intraday bias remains neutral. Near term outlook stays bearish as current development argues that rise from 98.97 is already completed at 118.65. Hence, we’d expect upside of recovery to limited by 110.10 minor resistance to bring another decline. Below 108.12 will target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 98.97 low. Nonetheless, break of 110.10 will be the first sign of near term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside for 112.19 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. Current development suggests that it’s not completed yet and is extending. In case of deeper decline, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.

For the moment, we’re still favoring the case medium term corrective pattern from 118.65 has completed at 107.31 already. Hence, we’ll looking for bottoming below 110.14 to bring another rise. On the upside, above 116.68 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remain son the downside as fall from 114.49 is still in progress for 108.81 support. Break there will resume whole correction from 118.65 and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. On the upside, break of 111.04 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

Also, the whole rise from 98.97 is likely resuming. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.
