USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.41; (P) 113.81; (R1) 114.24; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 114.69 is extending. On the downside, break of 113.40 minor support will bring deeper pull back. But downside should be contained above 112.07 resistance turned support to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 114.69 will resume the larger up trend to 100% projection of 102.58 to 111.65 from 109.11 at 118.18 next.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high) should have completed at 101.18 already. Rise from the 102.58 is seen as the third leg of the up trend from 101.18. Next target is 114.54 resistance and then 118.65 high. This will now be the preferred case as long as 109.11 support hold, even in case of deep pull back.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY’s up trend accelerated to as high as 114.45 last week. Initial bias stays on the upside this week for 61.8% projection of 102.58 to 111.65 from 109.11 at 114.71. Firm break there will target 100% projection at 118.18 next. On the downside, break of 113.20 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations again, before staging another rally.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 (2011 low) long term bottom to 125.85 (2015 high) is viewed as an impulsive move, no change in this view. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective pattern which could still extend. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77. Up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 105.79; (P) 105.89; (R1) 106.10; More...

Consolidation continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 107.05 will revive the case of near term reversal and bring stronger rally. On the downside, break of 105.10 will target a test on 104.18. Break there will resume whole decline from 111.71.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. However, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the down trend and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 134.15; (P) 134.83; (R1) 135.74; More…

Range trading continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias stays neutral first. Overall, corrective pattern from 139.37 will extend further. On the upside, above 135.57 will resume the rebound to retest 139.37 high. But a decisive break there is not expected this time. On the downside, below 131.72 will resume the fall from 139.37 through 130.38 support.

In the bigger picture, fall from 139.37 medium term top is seen as correcting whole up trend from 101.18 (2020 low). While deeper decline cannot be ruled out, outlook will stays bullish as long as 55 week EMA (now at 122.70) holds. Long term up trend is expected to resume through 139.37 at a later stage, after the correction finishes.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.29; (P) 110.83; (R1) 111.57; More….

USD/JPY is bounded in range of 110.10/112.19 and intraday bias remains neutral first. The pair is staying in the near term falling channel and the correction from 118.65 could extend lower. Below 110.10 will turn intraday bias to the downside for 50% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 108.81. On the upside, however, break of 112.19 resistance will indicate short term reversal and turn bias back to the upside for 115.49 resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.15) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 106.89; (P) 107.13; (R1) 107.45; More...

USD/JPY is still bounded in range of 106.07/107.64. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. As long as 107.64 resistance holds, another fall could be seen to 105.98 support and below. But downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 101.18 to 111.71 at 105.20 to bring rebound. Meanwhile, firm break of 107.64 should suggest completion of the fall from 109.85. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for this resistance.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. However, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the down trend and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 139.79; (P) 140.30; (R1) 140.71; More…

USD/JPY’s rally is still in progress. Intraday bias stays on the upside for 100% projection of 126.35 to 139.37 from 130.38 at 143.40. Sustained break there could bring upside acceleration of 147.68 long term resistance. On the downside, below 139.05 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 101.18 is still in progress, as part of the whole up trend from 75.56 (2011 low). Further rise should be seen to 147.68 (1998 high). For now, break of 130.38 support is needed to be the first indication of medium term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish even in case of deep pull back.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 105.55; (P) 106.26; (R1) 107.46; More…

USD/JPY’s rebound, while strong, is limited below 107.09 minor resistance so far. Initial bias remains neutral for the moment. As long as 107.09 holds, further decline is still in favor. Break of 105.04 will resume larger decline from 112.40 to 104.69 low. Break will target 100% projection of 112.40 to 106.78 from 109.31 at 103.69. On the upside, though, break of 107.09 resistance will indicate short term bottoming. In this case, stronger rebound would be seen back to 55 day EMA (now at 107.94).

In the bigger picture, decline from 118.65 (Dec 2016) is still in progress and the pair is staying well inside long term falling channel. Break of 104.62 will target 100% projection of 118.65 to 104.62 from 114.54 at 100.51. For now, we’d expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound. In any case, break of 112.40 is needed to the first serious sign of medium term bullishness. Otherwise, further decline will remain in favor in case of rebound.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.08; (P) 113.28; (R1) 113.58; More..

With 113.00 minor support intact, intraday bias in USD/JPY stays mildly on the upside for 114.03 resistance. Break there should resume the rebound from 111.37 and target 114.54 key resistance next. On the downside, below 113.00 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. Further break of 112.23 will extend the consolidation from 114.54 with deeper fall. But after all, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 104.62 to 114.54 at 110.75 to bring rebound. Larger rise from 104.62 is expected to resume later.

In the bigger picture, corrective fall from 118.65 (2016 high) should have completed with three waves down to 104.62. Decisive break of 114.73 resistance will likely resume whole rally from 98.97 (2016 low) to 100% projection of 98.97 to 118.65 from 104.62 at 124.30, which is reasonably close to 125.85 (2015 high). This will stay as the preferred case as long as 109.76 support holds. However, decisive break of 109.76 will dampen this bullish view and turns outlook mixed again.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 148.22; (P) 148.73; (R1) 149.02; More…

USD/JPY recovers further today but stays well below 150.15 resistance. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. Consolidation from 150.15 is still extending. On the downside, below 148.24 minor support will turn bias to the downside for another down leg through 147.28. But there is no confirmation of bearish trend reversal before firm break of 144.43 support. Another rally remains mildly in favor through 150.15 to retest 151.93 high.

In the bigger picture, while rise from 127.20 is strong, it could still be seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 151.93 (2022 high). Rejection by 151.93, followed by sustained break of 145.06 resistance turned support will be the first sign that the third leg of the pattern has started. However, sustained break of 151.93 will confirm resumption of long term up trend.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.23; (P) 111.55; (R1) 111.92; More…

USD/JPY’s rally from 107.31 extends to as high as 112.62 so far. Intraday bias is back on the upside for medium term channel resistance (now at 113.03). Sustained break there will argue that whole correction from 118.65 has completed too. In that case, further rise should be seen to 114.49 resistance for confirmation. On the downside, below 111.07 minor resistance will raise the risk of rejection from channel resistance and turn bias back to the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 110.53).

In the bigger picture, rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 125.85 (2015 high). It’s unclear whether this this second leg has completed at 118.65 or not. But medium term outlook will be mildly bearish as long as 114.49 resistance holds. And, there is prospect of breaking 98.97 ahead. Meanwhile, break of 114.49 will bring retest of 125.85 high. But even in that case, we don’t expect a break there on first attempt.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.69; (P) 113.96; (R1) 114.36; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 114.26 resistance will resume the rebound from 112.52, towards 115.51 high. On the downside, break of 113.12 will turn bias to the downside, and resume the correction from 115.51 through 112.52 support.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that rise from 102.58 is the third leg of the up trend from 101.18 (2020 low). Such rally should target a test on 118.65 (2016 high) on resumption. However, firm break of 109.11 structural support will argue that the trend might have reversed and bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and possibly below.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 106.59; (P) 106.78; (R1) 106.87; More..

USD/JPY’s rally resumed after brief consolidation and intraday bias is back on the upside. Current rally from 102.58 should target 61.8% retracement of 111.71 to 102.58 at 108.22. On the downside, below 106.66 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again. But still, outlook will stay bullish as long as 104.91 support holds, in case of another pull back.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016), and there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. Though, sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 105.90) will be the first sign of reversal and turn focus to channel resistance (now at 110.02).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.66; (P) 112.98; (R1) 113.56; More…

USD/JPY’s rally resumed after brief consolidation and reaches as high as 113.37 so far. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 115.49 resistance. We’re holding on to the view that corrective fall from 118.65 could be completed with three waves down to 108.12. Break of 115.49 will resume larger rally from 98.97 to 125.85 high. On the downside, break of 112.08 support is needed to indicate near term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it’s completed yet. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 115.49 resistance will extend the rise from 98.97 to retest 125.85. Overall, rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 148.26; (P) 148.97; (R1) 149.40; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for the moment. Fall from 151.89 should be resuming, and should target 147.14 support first. Further break of 61.8% projection of 151.89 to 147.14 from 149.66 at 146.72will pave the way to 100% projection at 149.91, which is close to 145.06 key resistance turned support. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 149.66 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, rise from 127.20 (2023 low) is seen as the second leg of the pattern from 151.93 (2022 high). Decisive break of 145.06 resistance turned support will confirm that this second leg has completed, after rejection by 151.93. Deeper fall would be seen through 38.2% retracement of 127.20 to 151.89 at 142.45 to 61.8% retracement at 136.63. Nevertheless strong bounce from 145.06 will retain medium term bullishness for another test on 151.93 at a later stage.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 105.20; (P) 105.75; (R1) 106.25; More…

USD/JPY recovers today but stays well below 106.37 minor resistance. Intraday bias remains on the downside for the moment. As noted before, down trend from 118.65 has just resumed and should target 100% projection of 118.65 to 108.12 from 114.73 at 104.20 next. Firm break there will pave the way to 98.97 key support level and below. On the upside, above 106.37 minor resistance will turn bias neutral first. But outlook will remain bearish as long as 107.67 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the corrective pattern from 118.65 is extending. The solid break of 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 now suggests that the pattern from 125.85 high is possibly extending. Deeper fall could be seen through 98.97 key support (2016 low). This bearish case will now be favored as long as 110.47 resistance holds.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.38; (P) 109.53; (R1) 109.65; More..

No change in USD/JPY’s outlook. With 109.33 minor support intact, intraday bias remains mildly on the upside. Current rise from 104.45 is in progress for 100% projection of 104.45 to 108.47 from 106.48 at 110.50. Break will target long term channel resistance at 111.78 next. On the downside, below 109.33 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first. In this case, downside of retreat should be contained above 108.27 support to bring rise resumption.

In the bigger picture, strong support was seen from 104.62 again. Yet, there is no confirmation of medium term reversal. Corrective decline from 118.65 (Dec. 2016) could still extend lower. But in that case, we’d expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound. Meanwhile, on the upside, break of 112.40 key resistance will be a strong sign of start of medium term up trend.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.74; (P) 112.02; (R1) 112.27; More….

USD/JPY rises further to as high as 112.47 so far today and intraday bias remains on the upside. As noted before, corrective fall from 118.65 should have completed with three waves down to 108.12 already. Break of 115.49 will resume larger rally from 98.97 to 125.85 high. On the downside, break of 110.86 will bring lengthier consolidation before staging another rise.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 117.09; (P) 117.84; (R1) 118.49; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral with focus on 118.65 resistance. Break will confirm resumption of whole rise from 98.97. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 125.85 high. We’d be cautious on topping at 125.85 on first attempt. In case of another retreat, downside should be contained by 114.76 support and bring rally resumption finally.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the corrective is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 137.19; (P) 138.55; (R1) 139.44; More…

USD/JPY’s decline form 151.93 resumed by breaking through 137.46 temporary low. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 133.07 medium term fibonacci level next. On the upside, break of 139.88 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, further fall will remain in favor in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top should be formed at 151.93. Fall from there is correcting larger up trend from 102.58. It’s too early to call for bearish trend reversal. But even as a corrective move, such decline should target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 151.93 at 133.07, or further to 55 week EMA (now at 131.51).
