USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.99; (P) 108.13; (R1) 108.33; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral at this point. On the upside, break of 108.37 will extend the rebound from 106.78 with another rise, possibly through 108.99 resistance. On the downside, break of 107.21 will resume the fall from 108.99 to 106.78 low. Decisive break there will resume whole decline from 112.40.

In the bigger picture, decline from 118.65 (Dec 2016) is still in progress, with the pair staying inside long term falling channel. Break of 104.62 will target 100% projection of 118.65 to 104.62 from 114.54 at 100.51. For now, we’d expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound. In any case, break of 112.40 is needed to the first serious sign of medium term bullishness. Otherwise, further decline will remain in favor in case of rebound.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 104.14; (P) 104.36; (R1) 104.54; More...

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. Larger decline from 111.71 is still in progress. Break of 103.65 should turn bias back to the downside for 103.17 low and below. This bearish case will remain favored as long as 105.67 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. On the upside, break of 106.10 resistance is needed to be the first signal of medium term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 129.53; (P) 130.21; (R1) 131.37; More…

Range trading continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias stays neutral at this point. On the downside, break of 127.20 will resume the whole decline from 151.93 and target 121.43 fibonacci level. Nevertheless, on the upside, break of 131.56 should confirm short term bottoming, and turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound to 55 day EMA (now at 134.49).

In the bigger picture, the break of 55 week EMA (now at 131.47) raises the chance of medium term bearish reversal, but that’s not confirmed yet. Strong support could be seen around 61.8% retracement of 102.58 to 151.93 at 121.43 and 38.2% retracement of 75.56 to 151.93 at 122.75 to bring rebound. But break of 131.56 resistance is needed to indicate bottoming first. Otherwise further fall will remain in favor.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY stayed in consolidation below 144.98 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias stays neutral this week first. While deeper retreat cannot be ruled out, downside should be contained by 139.37 resistance turned support. On the upside, break of 144.98 will resume larger up trend to 147.68 long term resistance. Break there will target 161.8% projection of 126.35 to 139.37 from 130.38 at 151.44 next.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 101.18 is still in progress, as part of the whole up trend from 75.56 (2011 low). Further rise should be seen to 147.68 (1998 high). For now, break of 130.38 support is needed to be the first indication of medium term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish even in case of deep pull back.

In the long term picture, rise from 101.18 is seen as part of the up trend from 75.56 (2011 low). Further rally is expected to 100% projection of 75.56 (2011 low) to 125.85 (2015 high) from 98.97 at 149.26, which is slightly above 147.68 (1998 high). This will remain the favored case as long as 55 week EMA (now at 125.61) holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.81; (P) 108.07; (R1) 108.20; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned to the downside with break of 107.79 temporary low. Corrective rebound from 106.78 should have completed at 108.99, after rejection by 55 day EMA. Break of 106.78 support will resumer larger decline from 112.40 to retest 104.69 low. On the upside, break of 108.99 resistance is needed to confirm resumption of rebound from 106.78. Otherwise, risk will remain on the downside in case of recovery.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 103.69; (P) 103.89; (R1) 104.17; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Rebound from 102.58 short term bottoming is targeting channel resistance, (now at 104.42). Sustained break there will argue that the down trend from 111.71 has finally completed. Stronger rise would be seen to 105.67 resistance for confirmation. Nevertheless, rejection by the channel resistance will maintain bearishness. Break of 103.59 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 102.58 low.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. On the upside, break of 105.67 resistance is needed to be the first signal of medium term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.97; (P) 109.21; (R1) 109.66; More…

With 108.54 minor support intact, intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside. Rise from 104.62 is in progress and should target 61.8% retracement of 114.73 to 104.62 at 108.48 9 110.86 next. On the downside, below 108.54 minor support will turn bias neutral and bring consolidation first, before staging another rise.

In the bigger picture, break of 108.12 support turned resistance now suggests that corrective fall from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.62. And, rise from 98.97 (2016 low) could be resuming. Focus is back on 114.73 resistance and break there will pave the way to 118.65 and above. This will now be the preferred case as long as USD/JPY stays above 55 day EMA (now at 107.47).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.31; (P) 107.70; (R1) 108.10; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Corrective fall from 111.71 should have already completed at 105.98. Rise from there should target 109.38 resistance first. Break will target 111.71 high. However, break of 106.74 minor support will dampen the bullish view and turn bias back to the downside.

In the bigger picture, at this point, whole decline from 118.65 (Dec 2016) continues to display a corrective look, with well channeling. There is no clear sign of completion yet. Break of 101.18 will target 98.97 (2016 low). Meanwhile, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the decline and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.61; (P) 107.70; (R1) 107.81; More..

USD/JPY drew support from 4 hour 55 EMA and recovers but stays below 108.08 temporary top. Intraday bias remains neutral first. We’re still favoring the case that corrective fall from 111.71 has already completed at 105.98. Further rise should be seen and break of 108.08 will turn bias to the upside for 109.38 resistance. However, break of 106.74 support will dampen our bullish view and turn bias to the downside for 105.98 instead.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.45; (P) 110.18; (R1) 110.64; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside at this point. Prior break of 110.35 support argues that rebound from 104.69 is completed at 112.13 already. Further decline should be seen to 38.2% retracement of 104.69 to 112.13 at 109.28 first. Break will target 61.8% retracement at 107.53 next. On the upside, break of 110.95 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 112.13 instead.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 104.69 was strong, USD/JPY failed to sustain above 55 week EMA (now at 110.91), and was kept well below 114.54 resistance. Medium term outlook is turned mixed and we’ll wait for the structure of the fall from 112.13 to unveil to make an assessment later. For now, more range trading is expected between 104.69 and 112.13 first.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.69; (P) 114.00; (R1) 114.23; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, sustained break of 114.69 will resume larger up trend for 100% projection of 102.58 to 111.65 from 109.11 at 118.18 next. In case the consolidation pattern from 114.69 extends with another fall, we’d continue to expect downside to be contained above 112.07 resistance turned support to bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high) should have completed at 101.18 already. Rise from the 102.58 is seen as the third leg of the up trend from 101.18. Next target is 114.54 resistance and then 118.65 high. This will now be the preferred case as long as 109.11 support hold, even in case of deep pull back.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.19; (P) 112.71; (R1) 113.19; More..

USD/JPY breached 112.30 but quickly recovered. For now, deeper decline is still expected as long as 113.24 minor resistance holds. Further fall should be seen to 111.37 and possibly below. But still, price actions from 114.54 are seen as a consolidation pattern. Hence, even in case of deep decline, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 104.62 to 114.54 at 110.75 to bring rebound. Larger rise from 104.62 is expected to resume later. On the upside, above 113.24 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 114.03 resistance.

In the bigger picture, corrective fall from 118.65 (2016 high) should have completed with three waves down to 104.62. Decisive break of 114.73 resistance will likely resume whole rally from 98.97 (2016 low) to 100% projection of 98.97 to 118.65 from 104.62 at 124.30, which is reasonably close to 125.85 (2015 high). This will stay as the preferred case as long as 109.76 support holds. However, decisive break of 109.76 will dampen this bullish view and turns outlook mixed again.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 154.18; (P) 154.43; (R1) 154.90; More…

USD/JPY’s correction from 154.77 extended lower to 153.58 but recovered just ahead of 55 4H EMA (now at 153.56). Intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 154.77 will resume larger up trend. But considering divergence condition in 4H MACD upside should be limited by 155.20 fibonacci projection level. On the downside, below 153.58 will turn bias to the downside for deeper pullback.

In the bigger picture, current rise from 140.25 is seen as the third leg of the up trend from 127.20 (2023 low). Next target is 61.8% projection of 127.20 to 151.89 from 140.25 at 155.20. Outlook will now remain bullish as long as 146.47 support holds, even in case of deep pullback.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 137.80; (P) 139.20; (R1) 140.73; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned neutral again with current recovery. Stronger rise cannot be ruled out, but upside should be limited below 145.16 support turned resistance. Break of 137.66 will resume the decline from 151.93, to 133.07 fibonacci level, as a correction to the larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top should be formed at 151.93. Fall from there is correcting larger up trend from 102.58. It’s too early to call for bearish trend reversal. But even as a corrective move, such decline should target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 151.93 at 133.07, or further to 55 week EMA (now at 130.58).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral at this point as range trading continues. On the upside, break of 107.05 will revive the case that pull back from 111.71 has completed with three waves down to 104.18. Intraday bias will be turned to the upside for 109.85 resistance. On the downside, break of 105.10 will bring retest 104.18 support first.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. However, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the down trend and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.63; (P) 113.89; (R1) 114.12; More…

USD/JPY recovers today but stays in range above 113.47. Intraday bias remains neutral first. On the downside, break of 113.47 will resume the fall from 116.34. As a corrective to whole up trend from 102.58, break of 112.52 will target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 116.34 at 111.08. However, break of 115.05 resistance will bring stronger rebound back to retest 116.34 high.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that rise from 102.58 is the third leg of the up trend from 101.18 (2020 low). Such rally should target a test on 118.65 (2016 high). Sustained break there will pave the way to 120.85 (2015 high) and raise the chance of long term up trend resumption. This will remain the favored case as long as 55 week EMA (now at 110.91) holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.00; (P) 109.38; (R1) 109.64; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside, as fall from 110.79 is in progress for 108.71 support. Firm break there will resume the decline from 111.65 and target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next. On the upside, above 109.74 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But risk will stay mildly on the downside as long as 110.79 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. The pattern from 101.18 could still extend with another falling leg. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and below. Nevertheless, strong break of 111.71 resistance will confirm completion of the corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high). Further rise should then be seen to 114.54 and then 118.65 resistance.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.74; (P) 112.02; (R1) 112.27; More….

USD/JPY rises further to as high as 112.47 so far today and intraday bias remains on the upside. As noted before, corrective fall from 118.65 should have completed with three waves down to 108.12 already. Break of 115.49 will resume larger rally from 98.97 to 125.85 high. On the downside, break of 110.86 will bring lengthier consolidation before staging another rise.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it’s completed yet. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 115.49 resistance will extend the rise from 98.97 to retest 125.85. Overall, rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.69; (P) 110.19; (R1) 110.45; More…

USD/JPY recovers mildly but stays in established range. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Also, risk stays mildly on the downside with 111.65 resistance intact. On the downside, break of 109.52, and sustained trading below 55 day EMA (now at 109.85) will suggest that it’s at least correcting the rise from 102.58. Deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. Though, as notable support was seen from 55 day EMA, rise from 102.58 is mildly in favor to extend higher. Decisive break of 111.71/112.22 resistance will suggest long term bullish reversal. Rise from 101.18 could then target 118.65 resistance (Dec 2016) and above. However, sustained break of 55 day EMA would revive some medium term bearishness, and open up deep fall back towards 102.58 support.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 104.18; (P) 104.47; (R1) 104.70; More...

USD/JPY is staying in range trading above 103.65 and intraday bias remains neutral first.
