USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.11; (P) 112.73; (R1) 113.42; More…

USD/JPY lost some downside momentum as 4 hours MACD crossed above signal line and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Choppy fall from 118.65 is seen as a corrective move. In case of another decline, we’d expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside an bring rebound. On the upside, above 115.36 resistance will argue that such correction is finished and turn bias to the upside for 118.65. Break will resume whole rise from 98.97 and target 125.85 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.36; (P) 113.55; (R1) 113.74; More…

USD/JPY’s pull back from 113.74 accelerates lower in early US session. But it’s seen as a correction and thus, intraday bias remains neutral first. As noted before, as long as 111.98 support holds, further rally is expected in the pair. On the upside, above 113.68 will extend the rise from 110.83 to 114.73 resistance first. Decisive break there will resume whole rise from 107.31. More importantly, that will confirm completion of medium term correction from 118.65 at 107.31. In that case, retest of 118.65 should be seen next. However, break of 111.98 support will extend the correction from 114.73 with another fall, possibly to 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14 before completion.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed a 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is resuming. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this will and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.37; (P) 108.52; (R1) 108.74; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as consolidation form 108.93 temporary top is extending. Deep retreat cannot be ruled out but downside should be contained well above 106.48 support. On the upside, above 108.93 will target 109.31 key resistance. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications next target will be 100% projection of 104.45 to 108.47 from 106.48 at 110.50.

In the bigger picture, strong support was seen from 104.62 again. Yet, there is no confirmation of medium term reversal. Corrective decline from 118.65 (Dec. 2016) could still extend lower. But in that case, we’d expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound. Meanwhile, on the upside, break of 112.40 key resistance will be a strong sign of start of medium term up trend.

A temporary low is in place at USD/JPY with 4 hour MACD staying above signal line. Intraday bias is turned neutral first. At this point, we’re still favoring the case for strong support around 111.12/13 to bring rebound. This level represents 61.8% projection of 118.65 to 111.58 from 115.49 at 111.12 and 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13. Break of 112.86 resistance will indicates completion of the correction from 118.65. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 115.49 resistance and above. However, sustained trading below 111.12/13 will pave the way to 100% projection at 108.42 next.

Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.12) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.21; (P) 109.79; (R1) 110.13; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned back to the downside as fall from 110.94 resumed. Overall, price actions from 118.65 are seen as a correction pattern. There is clear indication that it’s completed yet. Break of 108.72 will likely resume the whole decline from 118.65 through 108.12 to next medium term fibonacci level at 106.48. On the upside, above 110.94 will extend the rebound to 112.18 resistance next. Break there will turn focus back to 114.49 key near term resistance.

In the bigger picture, the corrective structure of the fall from 118.65 suggests that rise from 98.97 is not completed yet. Break of 118.65 will target a test on 125.85 high. At this point, it’s uncertain whether rise from 98.97 is resuming the long term up trend from 75.56, or it’s a leg in the consolidation from 125.85. Hence, we’ll be cautious on topping as it approaches 125.85. If fall from 118.65 extends lower, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY’s down trend continued last week and reached as low as 105.54. A temporary low was formed with 4 hour MACD crossed above signal line. Initial bias is neutral this week for consolidation first. But recovery should be limited below 108.72 support turned resistance and bring fall resumption. Below 105.54 will target 100% projection of 118.65 to 108.12 from 114.73 at 104.20 next.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the corrective pattern from 118.65 is extending. The solid break of 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. now suggests that the pattern from 125.85 high is possibly extending. Deeper fall could be seen through 98.97 key support (2016 low). This bearish case will now be favored as long as 110.47 resistance holds.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 (2011 low) long term bottom to 125.85 top is viewed as an impulsive move, no change in this view. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77. Up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY is staying in range of 111.58/114.94 and intraday bias remains neutral first. The corrective fall from 1118.65 could extend lower. But we’d still expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 114.94 resistance should confirm completion of pull back from 118.65. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 118.65.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.10; (P) 112.31; (R1) 112.49; More…

USD/JPY’s fall from 113.43 short term top extends in early US session and intraday bias remains on the downside. Deeper decline would be seen to 55 day EMA (now at 111.35) first. On the upside, above 112.57 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But risk will stays on the downside as long as 113.43 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 125.85 (2015 high). It’s unclear whether this this second leg has completed at 118.65 or not. But medium term outlook will be mildly bearish as long as 114.49 resistance holds. And, there is prospect of breaking 98.97 ahead. Meanwhile, break of 114.49 will bring retest of 125.85 high. But even in that case, we don’t expect a break there on first attempt.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY’s decline last week indicates short term topping at 113.43. That was on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, after failing to sustain above medium term falling trend line. The development argues that rebound from 107.31 could have completed already. And fall from 113.43 might be another leg of medium term correction from 118.65. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 55 day EMA (now at 111.37) first. Sustained break will target 107.31 low and below. In that case, we’d expect strong support from 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 to contain downside and bring rebound.

It’s unclear whether this second leg has completed at 118.65 or not. But medium term outlook will be mildly bearish as long as 114.49 resistance holds. And, there is prospect of breaking 98.97 ahead. Meanwhile, break of 114.49 will bring retest of 125.85 high. But even in that case, we don’t expect a break there on first attempt.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for consolidation below 113.25 temporary top. As long as 111.46 minor support holds, further rise is in favor. Sustained break of medium term channel resistance will argue that correction from 118.65 is already completed with three waves down to 107.31. Break of 114.49 will confirm this bullish case and target a test on 118.65 next. On the downside, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 111.46 will suggest rejection from the channel resistance and turn bias back to the downside.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.17; (P) 110.68; (R1) 111.03; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 110.32 temporary low. Outlook stays bearish as long as 113.38 resistance holds and deeper fall is expected. Break of 110.32 will extend the whole decline from 114.73 to 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14. We’d look for bottoming signal again below 110.14.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed at 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is going to resume soon. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this view and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.61; (P) 108.80; (R1) 108.95; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. As long as 108.27 support holds, rise from 104.45 remains mildly in favor to resume. On the upside, above 109.20 minor resistance will bring retest of 109.72 resistance first. However, firm break of 108.27 will indicate near term reversal and turn outlook bearish for 106.48 support.

Range trading continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the downside, break 106.63 will target 106.07. Break there will extend the whole pattern from 111.71 and target 61.8% retracement of 101.18 to 111.71 at 105.20. On the upside, however, break of 108.16 will resume the rebound from 106.07 and target 109.85 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. However, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the down trend and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral at this point. On the upside, break of 113.43 and sustained trading above the channel resistance will argue that correction from 118.65 is already completed with three waves down to 107.31. Break of 114.49 will confirm this bullish case and target a test on 118.65 next. On the downside, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 112.31 will suggest rejection from the channel resistance and turn bias back to the downside.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.00; (P) 110.29; (R1) 110.67; More….

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as the recovery from 109.91 is still in progress. Overall near term outlook remains bearish as long as 112.18 resistance holds and another fall is expected. Below 109.91 will target 108.81 support first. Break there will resume whole correction from 118.65 and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. Nonetheless, break of 112.18 resistance will dampen this bearish view and turn focus back to 114.49 resistance instead.

If fall from 118.65 extends lower, down side should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.37; (P) 110.49; (R1) 110.69; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned neutral with 4 hour MACD crossed below signal line. Corrective fall from 111.65 should have completed with three waves down to 108.71. Another rise is in favor with 110.01 support intact. Break of 110.79 will turn bias to the upside for retesting 111.65 high. However, break of 110.01 will dampen this bullish view, and turn bias to the downside for 108.71 support.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. The pattern from 101.18 could still extend with another falling leg. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and below. Nevertheless, strong break of 111.71 resistance will confirm completion of the corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high). Further rise should then be seen to 114.54 and then 118.65 resistance.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 153.12; (P) 153.57; (R1) 154.34; More…

No change in USD/JPY’s outlook and intraday bias stays neutral. On the upside, firm break of 55 4H EMA (now at 154.81) will bring stronger rebound towards 157.98 resistance. On the downside, below 151.86 will resume the fall from 160.20. But strong support should be seen from 150.87 resistance turned support to bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top might be formed at 160.20. But as long as 150.87 resistance turned support holds, fall from there is seen as correcting rise from 150.25 only. However, decisive break of 150.87 will argue that larger correction is possibly underway, and target 146.47 support next.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for consolidation below 111.87 temporary top. Downside of retreat should be contained above 109.54 support to bring another rally. Above 111.87 will target medium term channel resistance (now at 112.87). Sustained break there will argue that whole correction from 118.65 has completed too. In that case, further rise should be seen to 114.49 resistance for confirmation.

USD/JPY is still staying inside range of 111.58/114.94 and intraday bias remains neutral. Price actions from 118.65 are viewed as a corrective move. Firm break of 114.94 resistance will indicate that it’s completed, on a double bottom pattern (111.58, 111.68). In such case, intraday bias will be turned to the upside for retesting 118.65. Also, the whole rise from 98.97 is likely resuming. On the downside, in case of another fall, we’d still expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.91; (P) 109.29; (R1) 109.87; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. Some consolidation would be seen first but further decline remains in favor as long as 110.58 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 108.71 will resume the decline from 111.65 to 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18. Nevertheless, firm break of 110.58 will argue that that corrective fall has completed and bring retest of 111.65.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. Firm break of 107.47 will argue that pattern from 101.18 has started another falling leg already. Deeper decline could be seen back to 101.18/102.58 support zone. For now, outlook won’t turn bullish as long as 111.71 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.
