USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.91; (P) 111.39; (R1) 111.74; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for 110.83 support. As noted before, current development argues that fall from 114.73 is resuming. Break of 110.83 will target 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14. We’d look for bottoming signal again below 110.14. On the upside, above 112.05 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed at 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is going to resume soon. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this view and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.23; (P) 112.52; (R1) 112.95; More…

Consolidation from 113.04 temporary top is still in progress and intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral. We’d holding on to the view that corrective fall from 118.65 could be completed with three waves down to 108.12. Further rise is expected as long as 110.86 support holds. Above 113.04 will target 115.49 resistance. Firm break there will resume larger rally from 98.97 to 125.85 high. However, break of 110.86 support will keep USD/JPY inside near term falling channel and will turn bias back to the downside for 108.12 and below to extend the decline from 118.65.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it’s completed yet. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 115.49 resistance will extend the rise from 98.97 to retest 125.85. Overall, rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.84; (P) 111.34; (R1) 111.82; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral at this point. Rise from 110.23 is seen as a correction and the larger fall is expected to resume later. On the downside, below 110.85 minor support will turn bias to the downside to extend the fall from 114.36 to 108.12 low. Break there will resume the whole decline from 118.65. In that case, we’ll look for bottoming signal again at 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it’s completed yet. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Overall, rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.52; (P) 110.97; (R1) 111.29; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside as rise rebound from 108.81 is expected to continue to near term channel resistance (now at 113.06). Sustained break there will suggest that whole pull back from 118.65 has completed at 108.12 already. In such case, further rise should be seen to 114.36 resistance for confirmation. Nonetheless, break of 108.81 will still extend the fall from 118.65 through 108.12 low before completion.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY’s rebound from 111.58 was limited at 114.94 last week and reversed. The development suggests that corrective fall from 118.65 is not finished. Initial bias is mildly on the downside this week for 111.58 and below. Though, we’d still expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 114.94 resistance should confirm completion of pull back from 118.65. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 118.65.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 long term bottom to 125.85 medium term top is viewed as an impulsive move. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. But, up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.11; (P) 110.17; (R1) 110.23; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned neutral with the current retreat. Further rise is expected as long as 109.79 minor support holds. Above 110.28 will resume larger rise from 104.45 to 100% projection of 106.48 to 109.72 from 107.65 at 110.89 next. On the downside, , break of 109.79 support will indicate short term topping. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 109.10).

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is staying in long term falling channel that started at 118.65 (Dec. 2016). There is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. Hence, rise from 104.45 is seen as a correction and down trend could still extend through 104.45 low. However, sustained break of the channel resistance will be an important sign of bullish reversal and target 114.54 resistance for confirmation.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.29; (P) 108.54; (R1) 108.99; More…

USD/JPY’s break of 108.53 minor resistance suggests short term bottoming at 107.47. The notable support from 55 day EMA revives some near term bullishness. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 109.95 resistance. Break there will bring retest of 110.95 high. On the downside, break of 107.47 will extend the fall to 61.8% retracement of 102.58 to 110.95 at 105.77.

In the bigger picture, rise from 102.58 might have completed at 110.95, as the third leg of the pattern from 101.18 low. Medium term outlook is neutral first, as the pair could have turned into sideway trading between 101.18/111.71. We’d look at the structure and momentum of the fall from 110.95 to gauge the chance of upside breakout at a later stage.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.61; (P) 109.75; (R1) 109.92; More…

Range trading continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 110.79 will resume the rebound from 108.71 to retest 111.65 high. On the downside, break of 109.10 will target 108.71 support first. Firm break there will resume the decline from 111.65 and target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. The pattern from 101.18 could still extend with another falling leg. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and below. Nevertheless, strong break of 111.71 resistance will confirm completion of the corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high). Further rise should then be seen to 114.54 and then 118.65 resistance.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.67; (P) 109.97; (R1) 110.16; More…

USD/JPY drops slightly today but stays inside range of 109.10/110.79. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. On the downside, break of 109.10 will target 108.71 support first. Firm break there will resume the decline from 111.65 and target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next. On the upside, break of 110.79 will resume the rebound from 108.71 to retest 111.65 high.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.71; (P) 110.09; (R1) 110.62; More…

Break of 109.53 minor resistance argues that recovery from 108.26 has completed. Intraday bias is turned back to the downside for 108.12/26 support zone. Firm break of 108.12 support will resume the whole corrective decline from 118.65. In that case, USD/JPY will target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. In any case, outlook will remain cautiously bearish as long as 110.94 resistance holds. Nonetheless, considering bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 110.94 will indicate near term reversal and bring stronger rebound back towards 114.49 resistance.

In the bigger picture, the corrective structure of the fall from 118.65 suggests that rise from 98.97 is not completed yet. Break of 118.65 will target a test on 125.85 high. At this point, it’s uncertain whether rise from 98.97 is resuming the long term up trend from 75.56, or it’s a leg in the consolidation from 125.85. Hence, we’ll be cautious on topping as it approaches 125.85. If fall from 118.65 extends lower, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.23; (P) 110.41; (R1) 110.73; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment and outlook is unchanged. Another rise is in favor as long as 110.00 minor support holds. Above 110.58 will resume the rebound from 109.05 to retest 111.65 high. However, on the downside, break of 110.00 will turn bias back to the downside for 109.05. Break will resume the fall from 111.65 to 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. The pattern from 101.18 could still extend with another falling leg. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and below. For now, outlook won’t turn bullish as long as 111.71 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 155.29; (P) 156.95; (R1) 157.84; More…

USD/JPY’s fall from 161.94 is seen as correcting whole rally from 140.25. Deeper decline is expected as long as 158.85 resistance holds, to 38.2% retracement of 140.25 to 161.94 at 163.65. On the upside, above 158.85 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 151.89 resistance turned support holds, long term up trend could still continue through 161.94 at a later stage. Next target will depend on the depth of the current correction from 161.94. However, sustained break of 151.89 will argue that larger scale correction or trend reversal is underway.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.36; (P) 108.53; (R1) 108.78; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral and more sideway trading could be seen. On the upside, break of 109.48 resistance will resume whole rise from 104.45 and target trend line resistance (now at 111.79). On the downside, break of 108.24 support will revive the case of short term reversal. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 107.88 support to confirm.

In the bigger picture, strong support was seen from 104.62 again. Yet, there is no confirmation of medium term reversal. Corrective decline from 118.65 (Dec. 2016) could still extend lower. But in that case, we’d expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound. Meanwhile, on the upside, break of 112.40 key resistance will be a strong sign of start of medium term up trend.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.60; (P) 112.13; (R1) 112.59; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for the moment. Sustained break of 55 day EMA (now at 112.02) will extend the fall from 114.49 to 108.81 support. As noted before, whole correction from 118.65 is possibly still in progress. Break of 108.81 will confirm and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. On the upside, above 112.86 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

If fall from 118.65 extends lower, down side should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.70; (P) 109.19; (R1) 109.90; More…

USD/JPY recovers after forming a temporary low at 108.49 and intraday bias is turned neutral first. At this point, deeper fall is still expected as long as 110.18 support turned resistance holds. Below 108.49 will target next fibonacci support at 106.48. Nonetheless, break of 110.18 will be the first sign of near term reversal and will turn bias back to the upside for 111.47 resistance.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the corrective pattern from 118.65 is extending. There is risk of dropping further to 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. But this level should provide strong support to contain downside and bring resumption of rise from 98.97. However, sustained break of 106.48 will now likely send USD?JPY through 98.97 to resume the corrective fall from 125.85 (2015 high).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.11; (P) 110.46; (R1) 110.69; More…

USD/JPY’s break of 109.83 suggests resumption of fall from 114.49. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 108.81 support first. Break there will resume whole correction from 118.65 and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. On the upside, break of 111.04 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

If fall from 118.65 extends lower, down side should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.04; (P) 113.16; (R1) 113.72; More…

With 115.43 minor resistance intact, fall from 118.65 is expected to extend to 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13. At this point, we’d expect strong support from there to contain downside and bring rebound. Above 115.43 minor resistance will turn bias to the upside for retesting 118.65 high. However, sustained break of 111.13 will argue that whole rise from 98.97 has completed and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 106.48 and below.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.78; (P) 112.18; (R1) 112.77; More…

No change in USD/JPY’s outlook. The choppy decline from 118.65 could extend lower. But such decline is seen as a correction. Hence, we’d expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound. Above 113.44 minor resistance will turn bias neutral first. Break of 115.36 resistance will argue that such correction is finished and turn bias to the upside for 118.65 high.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.42; (P) 112.74; (R1) 113.06; More…

USD/JPY is staying in consolidative trading in tight range below 113.25 temporary top. Intraday bias remains neutral first. As long as 111.46 minor support holds, further rise is in favor. Sustained break of medium term channel resistance will argue that correction from 118.65 is already completed with three waves down to 107.31. Break of 114.49 will confirm this bullish case and target a test on 118.65 next. On the downside, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 111.46 will suggest rejection from the channel resistance and turn bias back to the downside.

In the bigger picture, rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 125.85 (2015 high). It’s unclear whether this this second leg has completed at 118.65 or not. But medium term outlook will be mildly bearish as long as 114.49 resistance holds. And, there is prospect of breaking 98.97 ahead. Meanwhile, break of 114.49 will bring retest of 125.85 high. But even in that case, we don’t expect a break there on first attempt.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.14; (P) 112.61; (R1) 112.86; More…

A temporary top is in place at 113.08 as USD/JPY retreats. Intraday bias is turned neutral first. On the upside, above 113.08 will extend the rebound from 110.83 to retest 114.73 key resistance. Decisive break there will extend the rally from 107.31 to retest 118.65 high. On the downside, break of 110.83 will resume the decline from 114.73 instead. But in that case, we’ll look for bottoming again below 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed a 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is resuming. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this will and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.
