USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.13; (P) 111.42; (R1) 111.79; More….

No change in USD/JPY’s outlook. We’re favoring the case that corrective fall from 118.65 has completed with three waves down to 108.12. Sustained break of 111.58 support turned resistance will confirm this bullish view and target 115.49 resistance and above. However, break of 109.58 will argue that fall from 118.65 is still in progress and will turn bias to the downside for 108.12 and below.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it’s completed yet. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 115.49 resistance will extend the rise from 98.97 to retest 125.85. Overall, rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY’s fall from 114.73 extended to as low as 111.06 last week and recovered after forming a temporary low. Initial bias is neutral this week first. But deeper fall will be expected as long as 112.71 holds. Below 111.06 will target 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14. For the moment, we’re still favoring the case medium term corrective pattern from 118.65 has completed at 107.31 already. Hence, we’ll looking for bottoming below 110.14 to bring another rise.

In the bigger picture, medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is not completed yet. It should resume after corrective fall from 118.65 completes. Break of 114.49 resistance will likely resume the rise to 61.8% projection of 98.97 to 118.65 from 107.31 at 119.47 first. Firm break there will pave the way to 100% projection at 126.99. This will be the key level to decide whether long term up trend is resuming. However, firm break of 111.64 support will dampen this view and turn focus back to 107.31 instead.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 (2011 low) long term bottom to 125.85 top is viewed as an impulsive move, no change in this view. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77. Up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.17; (P) 110.68; (R1) 111.03; More…

A temporary low is in place at 110.32 in USD/JPY. Intraday bias is turned neutral for consolidations. But outlook will stays bearish as long as 113.38 resistance holds and deeper fall is expected. Break of 110.32 will extend the whole decline from 114.73 to 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14. We’d look for bottoming signal again below 110.14.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed at 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is going to resume soon. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this view and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.72; (P) 113.28; (R1) 113.73; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside for the moment. Correction from 118.65 should have completed at 111.58, on bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Further rally would be seen to 115.36 resistance. Break will confirm this bullish case and target 118.65 high next. In that case, the larger rally from 98.97 could be resuming. On the downside, below 112.85 minor support will dampen this bullish view and could extend the correction from 118.65. In that case, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 and bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.29; (P) 109.03; (R1) 109.50; More…

USD/JPY is still bounded in range of 108.27/110.47 and intraday bias remains neutral. As noted before, larger decline from 114.73 is possibly still in progress. Break of 108.27 will also resume the medium term correction from 118.65. That will send USD/JPY through 107.31 to 106.48 fibonacci level. Nonetheless, above 110.47 will turn intraday bias back to the upside and bring stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the corrective pattern from 118.65 is extending. There is risk of dropping further to 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. But this level should provide strong support to contain downside and bring resumption of rise from 98.97. However, sustained break of 106.48 will now likely send USD/JPY through 98.97 to resume the corrective fall from 125.85 (2015 high).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 155.01; (P) 155.75; (R1) 156.86; More….

Intraday bias in USD/JPY stays neutral for the moment and outlook is unchanged. Risk will stay on the downside as long as 157.70 resistance holds. Fall from there is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 160.20. On the downside, break of 154.53 will target 153.59 support first. Break there will pave the way to 151.86 support and below.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top might be formed at 160.20. As long as 55 W EMA (now at 147.77) holds, fall from 160.20 is seen as correcting the rise from 140.25 only. However, sustained break of 55 W EMA will argue that larger correction is possibly underway, and target 146.47 support next.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral first and further decline is expected as long as 110.58 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 109.05 will resume the decline from 111.65. Next target is 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18. On the upside, above 109.82 minor resistance will bring stronger recovery first.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. The pattern from 101.18 could still extend with another falling leg. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and below. For now, outlook won’t turn bullish as long as 111.71 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.76; (P) 113.27; (R1) 113.62; More…

USD/JPY’s fall from 114.36 extends lower today but there is no change in the outlook so far. Such decline is seen as a correction. We’d expect downside to be contained by 112.08 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 108.12 to 114.36 at 111.97) and bring rally resumption. Above 113.15 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 114.36 resistance first. Also, corrective fall from 118.65 is completed with three wave down to 108.12. Above 114.36 will target 115.49 resistance first. Break there should resume whole rise from 98.97 to 125.85 high.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.16; (P) 110.60; (R1) 111.10; More…

USD/JPY consolidates above 110.10 temporary low and intraday bias is neutral for the moment. As long as 111.57 resistance holds, deeper decline is expected in the pair. Below 110.10 will extend the current fall from 118.65 to 100% projection of 118.65 to 111.58 from 115.49 at 108.42 and possibly below. Meanwhile, firm break of 111.57 will indicate short term bottoming and bring rebound back to 55 day EMA (now at 113.09).

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.11) will indicates that such consolidation is not completed. And another fall would be seen back to 98.97 as the third leg. In that case, downside would be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.95 at 94.77 to complete the correction. On the upside, above 115.49 will extend the rise from 98.97 to retest 125.85 first. Overall, up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume after the consolidation from 125.85 completes.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.64; (P) 111.11; (R1) 111.37; More….

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside for the moment. As noted before, corrective fall from 118.65 is still in progress and is possibly resuming. Break of 110.10 will confirm this bearish case and target 50% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 108.81. On the upside, break of 112.19 resistance is needed to confirm near term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will stay mildly bearish in case of recovery.

Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.16) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as consolidation form 109.68 is extending. With 108.70 minor support intact, further rise is in favor. On the upside, break of 109.68 will resume the rebound from 107.47 for retesting 110.95 high. On the downside, though, break of 108.70 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 107.47 support again, to extend the pattern from 110.95.

In the bigger picture, rise from 102.58 might have completed at 110.95. But strong support from 55 day EMA retains near term bullishness for the pair. Break of 110.95 resistance will carry larger bullish implications and target 112.22 resistance next. Though, break of 107.47 support will shift favor to the case of long term sideway trading between 101.18/111.71.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

USD/JPY is staying in tight range above 112.51 and intraday bias remains neutral. Choppy fall from 118.65 is seen as a corrective move. On the upside, above 115.61 will target a test on 118.65 first. Break will resume whole rise from 98.97 and target 125.85 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.09; (P) 112.40; (R1) 112.92; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, break of 113.32 will revive near term bullishness and turn bias to the upside for 114.73. On the downside, however, decisive break of 111.64 support will argue that whole rebound from 107.31 has completed. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 101.14 and below.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.14; (P) 113.44; (R1) 113.92; More…

At this point, USD/JPY is still limited below 114.49 key resistance and intraday bias stays neutral first. Near term outlook will remain cautiously bullish as long as 111.64 support holds. Decisive break of 114.49 key resistance will confirm that correction pattern from 118.65 has completed at 107.31 already. And USD/JPY should then target a test on 118.65. However, sustained break of 111.64 will argue that rebound from 107.31 has completed and bring retest of this low.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.82; (P) 109.91; (R1) 110.08; More..

USD/JPY is losing some upside momentum as seen in 4 hour MACD. But intraday bias stays on the upside with 109.54 minor support holds, for 110.28 resistance. Break there will resume larger rebound from 104.45 and target medium term channel resistance at 111.23. On the downside, below 109.54 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, there is no change in the bearish outlook yet in spite of the rebound from 104.45. The pair is staying in long term falling channel that started at 118.65 (Dec. 2016). Rise from 104.45 is seen as a correction and the down trend could still extend through 104.45 low. However, sustained break of the channel resistance will be an important sign of bullish reversal and target 114.54 resistance for confirmation.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.65; (P) 110.24; (R1) 110.62; More….

Breach of 109.91 suggests that fall from 114.49 is resuming. Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned back to the downside for 108.81 support. Break there will resume whole correction from 118.65 and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. On the upside, above 111.97 will turn bias neutral again. But still, as long as 112.18 remains intact, outlook stays bearish for deeper fall.

In the bigger picture, the corrective structure of the fall from 118.65 suggests that rise from 98.97 is not completed yet. Break of 118.65 will target a test on 125.85 high. At this point, it’s uncertain whether rise from 98.97 is resuming the long term up trend from 75.56, or it’s a leg in the consolidation from 125.85. Hence, we’ll be cautious on topping as it approaches 125.85. If fall from 118.65 extends lower, down side should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.25; (P) 112.42; (R1) 112.68; More…

USD/JPY formed a temporary low at 112.05, ahead of 112.02 support and recovered. As the pair is staying in range of 112.02/113.74, intraday bias remains neutral first. Also, near term outlook stays bullish as long as 112.02 support holds and further rise is expected. Break of 113.74 will resume the rebound from 110.83 and target 114.73 key resistance. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications. However, break of 112.02 will likely extend the corrective pattern from 114.73 with another leg through 110.83 support.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 159.33; (P) 159.55; (R1) 159.90; More…

Outlook in USD/JPY remains unchanged and intraday bias stays neutral first. Further rise will remain in favor as long as 157.70 resistance turned support holds. Sustained break of 106.20 and 100% projection of 151.86 to 157.70 from 154.53 at 160.37 will confirm long term up trend resumption, and pave the way to 161.8% projection at 163.97. Nevertheless, firm break of 157.70 will turn bias back to the downside for channel support (now at 156.41) first.

In the bigger picture, there is no sign of long term trend reversal yet. Further rally is expected as long as 150.87 resistance turned support holds. Decisive break of 160.02 will target 100% projection of 127.20 to 151.89 from 140.25 at 164.94.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.85; (P) 112.23; (R1) 112.73; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as it’s consolidating below 112.91 temporary top. On the upside, Sustained break of the medium term channel resistance will argue that whole pull back from 118.65 has completed at 108.12 already. In such case, further rise should be seen to 114.36 resistance for confirmation. However, break of 110.94 will argue that rebound from 108.81 has completed and will turn bias back to the downside for this support instead.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.93; (P) 110.81; (R1) 111.31; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral cautiously on the downside with focus on 110.23 support. Break there will resume the decline from 114.36. In such case, deeper fall should be seen to 108.12 and below. Whole decline from 118.65 is seen as a correction and is still in progress. We’ll look for bottoming signal at 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 as the correction extends. Meanwhile, above 111.70 will turn intraday bias back to the upside. But we’d expect strong resistance from 61.8% retracement of 114.36 to 110.23 at 112.78 to limit upside and bring fall resumption.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it’s completed yet. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Overall, rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.
