USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.84; (P) 109.01; (R1) 109.30; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. On the upside, above 109.77 will resume the rebound from 107.47 to retest 110.95 high. On the downside, break of 108.34 will turn bias back to the downside for 107.47 support and below.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. We’d monitor the structure of the fall from 110.95, to assess whether it’s just correction to rise from 102.58 to 110.95, or a leg of a range pattern between 101.18 and 111.71, or starting another leg of the long term down trend.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.62; (P) 112.38; (R1) 112.82; More…

At this point, intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside. Fall from 114.73 could extend lower. Decisive break of 111.64 support will argue that whole rebound from 107.31 has completed. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 101.14 and below. On the upside, though, break of 113.32 minor resistance will indicate that the pull back is completed and turn bias back to the upside.

In the bigger picture, medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is not completed yet. It should resume after corrective fall from 118.65 completes. Break of 114.49 resistance will likely resume the rise to 61.8% projection of 98.97 to 118.65 from 107.31 at 119.47 first. Firm break there will pave the way to 100% projection at 126.99. This will be the key level to decide whether long term up trend is resuming. However, firm break of 111.64 support will dampen this view and turn focus back to 107.31 instead.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.62; (P) 111.10; (R1) 111.40; More….

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains as range trading continues in 110.10/112.19. The pair is staying in the near term falling channel and the correction from 118.65 could extend lower. Below 110.10 will turn intraday bias to the downside for 50% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 108.81. On the upside, however, break of 112.19 resistance will indicate short term reversal and turn bias back to the upside for 115.49 resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.15) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.60; (P) 113.27; (R1) 113.92; More…

USD/JPY’s fall from 118.65 is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the downside. Such decline would target 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13. However, such fall is seen as a corrective move. Hence, we’d expect strong support from 111.13 to contain downside an bring rebound. On the upside, above 115.36 resistance will argue that such correction is finished and turn bias to the upside for 118.65. Break will resume whole rise from 98.97 and target 125.85 key resistance.

Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.91; (P) 109.29; (R1) 109.87; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned neutral with current recovery. Some consolidation would be seen first but further decline remains in favor as long as 110.58 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 108.71 will resume the decline from 111.65 to 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18. Nevertheless, firm break of 110.58 will argue that that corrective fall has completed and bring retest of 111.65.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. Firm break of 107.47 will argue that pattern from 101.18 has started another falling leg already. Deeper decline could be seen back to 101.18/102.58 support zone. For now, outlook won’t turn bullish as long as 111.71 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.36; (P) 113.55; (R1) 113.74; More…

USD/JPY edged higher to 113.74 but quickly retreated. Intraday bias remains neutral first. As long as 111.98 support holds, further rally is expected in the pair. On the upside, above 113.68 will extend the rise from 110.83 to 114.73 resistance first. Decisive break there will resume whole rise from 107.31. More importantly, that will confirm completion of medium term correction from 118.65 at 107.31. In that case, retest of 118.65 should be seen next. However, break of 111.98 support will extend the correction from 114.73 with another fall, possibly to 61.8% retracement of 107.31 to 114.73 at 110.14 before completion.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed a 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is resuming. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this will and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.81; (P) 110.11; (R1) 110.35; More…

Range trading continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the downside, break of 109.10 will target 108.71 support first. Firm break there will resume the decline from 111.65 and target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next. On the upside, break of 110.79 will resume the rebound from 108.71 to retest 111.65 high.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. The pattern from 101.18 could still extend with another falling leg. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and below. Nevertheless, strong break of 111.71 resistance will confirm completion of the corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high). Further rise should then be seen to 114.54 and then 118.65 resistance.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.71; (P) 109.92; (R1) 110.20; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. On the upside, break of 110.79 will resume the rebound from 108.71 to retest 111.65 high. On the downside, break of 109.10 will target 108.71 support first. Firm break there will resume the decline from 111.65 and target 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 114.28; (P) 114.95; (R1) 115.50; More…

Prior breach of 115.43 minor resistance suggests that pull back from 118.65 is completed at 112.56 already. Intraday bias stays mildly on the upside for retesting 118.65 first. Break will resume whole rise from 98.97 and target 125.85 key resistance. In case of another fall, we’d expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound.

Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY edged higher to 114.49 last week but failed to sustain above 114.36 resistance and reversed. The rejection from 114.49 argues that rise from 108.81 is completed. And, the whole correction from 118.65 is possibly still in progress. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 55 day EMA (now at 112.01). Sustained break will pave the way to 108.12 and below. On the upside, above 113.57 minor resistance will turn focus back to 114.49 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, the corrective structure of the fall from 118.65 suggests that rise from 98.97 is not completed yet. Break of 118.65 will target a test on 125.85 high. At this point, it’s uncertain whether rise from 98.97 is resuming the long term up trend from 75.56, or it’s a leg in the consolidation from 125.85. Hence, we’ll be cautious on topping as it approaches 125.85. If fall from 118.65 extends lower, down side should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 long term bottom to 125.85 top is viewed as an impulsive move. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. But, up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is neutral for some consolidations above 107.47. Further fall is expected with 108.53 minor resistance intact. Break of 107.47 will resume the decline from 110.95 to 61.8% retracement of 102.58 to 110.95 at 105.77. On the upside, though, break of 108.53 will indicate short term bottoming. Intraday bias will be back to the upside for 108.99/109.95 resistance zone.

In the bigger picture, rise from 102.58 might have completed at 110.95, as the third leg of the pattern from 101.18 low. Medium term outlook is neutral first, as the pair could have turned into sideway trading between 101.18/111.71. We’d look at the structure and momentum of the fall from 110.95 to gauge the chance of upside breakout at a later stage.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.07; (P) 109.41; (R1) 109.70; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as it defended 109.10 support and rebounded. But upside is held well below 110.44 resistance so far. On the downside, break of 109.10 will argue that larger fall from 111.65 is resuming. Deeper decline should then be seen to 108.71 support first, and then 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next. On the upside, above 110.44 will turn bias back to the upside for 110.79, and then 111.65 high instead.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.25; (P) 110.98; (R1) 111.42; More…

USD/JPY’s fall accelerated to as low as 110.40 so far and focus is now on 110.35 support. Decisive break there will confirm that whole rebound from 104.69 has completed at 112.13. In that case, deeper fall should be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 104.69 to 112.13 at 109.28 next. On the upside, break of 111.15 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 112.13 high instead.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 104.69 argues that decline from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.69, after failing 104.62. More importantly, the rise from 98.97 (2016 low) could be resuming. Decisive break of 114.54 resistance will add more credence to this bullish case and target 118.65. This will now be the favored case as long as 110.35 support holds. However, firm break of 110.35 will mix up the medium term outlook again and turn focus back to 104.69 low.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remain son the downside for the moment. Correction from 118.65 short term top is expected to extend lower to 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13. At this point, we’d expect strong support from there to contain downside and bring rebound. Above 116.86 minor resistance will turn bias to the upside for 118.65 high. However, sustained break of 111.13 will argue that whole rise from 98.97 has completed and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 106.48 and below.

Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains mildly on the downside for the moment as fall from 114.49 is resuming. Such decline would target a test on 108.12 low. Whole corrective decline from 118.65 is possibly resuming and break of 108.12 will target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. On the upside, break of 110.94 is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook remains bearish in case of recovery.

If fall from 118.65 extends lower, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 and bring rebound.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.99; (P) 109.54; (R1) 110.02; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the downside at this point. Fall from 111.65 is at least correcting the whole rise from 102.58. Deeper decline should be seen to 38.2% retracement of 102.58 to 111.65 at 108.18 next. On the upside, break of 110.33 resistance is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA would argue that the pattern from 101.18 is starting another falling leg, that could head back to 102.58 support and below. For now, outlook won’t turn bullish as long as 111.71 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.37; (P) 109.47; (R1) 109.60; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Current rally from 104.45 should target 100% projection of 104.45 to 108.47 from 106.48 at 110.50 next. On the downside, below 109.33 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. But break of 108.24 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, strong support was seen from 104.62 again. Yet, there is no confirmation of medium term reversal. Corrective decline from 118.65 (Dec. 2016) could still extend lower. But in that case, we’d expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound. Meanwhile, on the upside, break of 112.40 key resistance will be a strong sign of start of medium term up trend.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 105.99; (P) 106.14; (R1) 106.30; More...

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, break of 107.05 will revive the case that pull back fall from 111.71 has completed with three waves down to 104.18. Intraday bias will be turned to the upside for 109.85 resistance. On the downside, break of 105.10 will bring retest 104.18 support first.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. However, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the down trend and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.15; (P) 111.55; (R1) 112.28; More…

Despite today’s recovery, USD/JPY is still staying below 112.41 minor resistance. Intraday bias remains neutral and another decline is still in favor. Below 110.61 will target 108.81. Break there will resume whole correction from 118.65 and target 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. Nonetheless, break of 112.41 will dampen this bearish view and turn focus back to 114.49 resistance instead.
