USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 104.98; (P) 105.21; (R1) 105.49; More..

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation from 106.21 and intraday bias remains neutral first. With 104.40 support intact, further rise is in favor. On the upside, sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 111.71 to 102.58 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 108.22. However, on the downside, break of 104.40 will turn bias to the downside for 103.31 support.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016), and there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. Though, sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 105.84) will be the first sign of reversal and turn focus to channel resistance (now at 110.15).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 154.18; (P) 154.43; (R1) 154.90; More…

USD/JPY’s correction from 154.77 extended lower to 153.58 but recovered just ahead of 55 4H EMA (now at 153.56). Intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 154.77 will resume larger up trend. But considering divergence condition in 4H MACD upside should be limited by 155.20 fibonacci projection level. On the downside, below 153.58 will turn bias to the downside for deeper pullback.

In the bigger picture, current rise from 140.25 is seen as the third leg of the up trend from 127.20 (2023 low). Next target is 61.8% projection of 127.20 to 151.89 from 140.25 at 155.20. Outlook will now remain bullish as long as 146.47 support holds, even in case of deep pullback.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 126.50; (P) 126.75; (R1) 127.25; More…

USD/JPY’s up trend resumed after brief retreat and intraday bias is back on the upside. Current rally should target 130.04 long term projection level next. On the downside, below 126.78 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations. But downside of retreat should be contained by 125.09 resistance turned support to bring another rally.

In the bigger picture, the break of 125.85 resistance (2015 high) suggests that whole up trend from 75.56 (2011 low) is resuming. Further rise should be seen to 61.8% projection of 75.56 (2011 low) to 125.85 (2015 high) from 98.97 at 130.04. Sustained break there wave the way to 147.68 (1998 high). For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 121.27 support holds.

USD/JPY Weekly Outlook

USD/JPY retreated steeply after edging higher to 151.69 last week. But downside is contained above 148.79 support so far. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Price actions from 151.69 could still be seen as a consolidation pattern only. However, firm break of 148.79 will indicate rejection by 151.93 key resistance, and bring deeper fall through 147.28 support.

In the bigger picture, immediate focus is now on 151.93 resistance (2022 high). Rejection by 151.93, followed by sustained break of 145.06 resistance turned support will argue that rise from 127.20 has completed, and turn outlook bearish for 137.22 support and below. However, sustained break of 151.93 will confirm resumption of long term up trend. Next target will be 61.8% projection of 102.58 to 151.93 from 127.20 at 157.69.

In the long term picture, price action from 151.93 is seen as developing into a corrective pattern to up trend from 75.56 (2011 low). Another falling leg could be seen, but in that case, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 75.56 to 151.93 at 122.75. On resumption, next target would be 61.8% projection of 102.58 to 151.93 from 127.20 at 157.69.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 144.98 is extending. While deeper retreat cannot be ruled out, downside should be contained by 139.37 resistance turned support. On the upside, break of 144.98 will resume larger up trend to 147.68 long term resistance. Break there will target 161.8% projection of 126.35 to 139.37 from 130.38 at 151.44 next.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 101.18 is still in progress, as part of the whole up trend from 75.56 (2011 low). Further rise should be seen to 147.68 (1998 high). For now, break of 130.38 support is needed to be the first indication of medium term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish even in case of deep pull back.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 124.36; (P) 125.07; (R1) 126.10; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned neutral with 4 hour MACD crossed below signal line. On the downside, break of 124.66 minor support will bring deeper pull back to 4 hour 55 EMA (now at 123.67) and possibly below. But downside should be contained above 121.27 support to bring another rally. On the upside, sustained break of 125.85 will pave the way to 130.04 long term projection level next.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 98.97 (2016 low) is in progress for retesting 125.85 (2015 high). Sustained break there will confirm long term up trend resumption. Next target will be 61.8% projection of 75.56 (2011 low) to 125.85 (2015 high) from 98.97 at 130.04. This will now remain the favored case as long as 116.34 resistance turned support holds.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 147.74; (P) 148.28; (R1) 148.71; More…

USD/JPY is extending the consolidation from 148.79 temporary top and intraday bias remains neutral. While deeper retreat cannot be ruled out, further rally is expected as long as 145.97 resistance turned support holds. Corrective fall from 151.89 should have completed at 140.25 already. Break of 148.79 will resume the rise from there for retesting 151.89/93 key resistance zone.

In the bigger picture, stronger than expected rebound from 140.25 dampened the original bearish review. Strong support from 55 W EMA (now at 141.89) is also a medium term bullish sign. Fall from 151.89 could be a correction to rise from 127.20 only. Decisive break of 151.89/93 will confirm resumption of long term up trend. This will now be the favored case as long as 140.25 support holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.84; (P) 113.03; (R1) 113.29; More…

USD/JPY remains in range of 111.58/114.94 and intraday bias stays neutral at this point. Corrective fall from 118.65 could extend lower through 111.58. But we’d still expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 114.94 resistance should confirm completion of pull back from 118.65. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 118.65.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 143.75; (P) 144.28; (R1) 145.29; More…

USD/JPY’s rally is in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside. Decisive break of 145.06 will resume whole rise from 127.20. Next target is 61.8% projection of 129.62 to 145.06 from 137.22 at 146.76. On the downside, however, below 143.27 minor support will delay the bullish case and turn intraday bias neutral again.

In the bigger picture, overall price actions from 151.93 (2022 high) are views as a corrective pattern. Rise from 127.20 is seen as the second leg of the pattern and could still be in progress. But even in case of extended rise, strong resistance should be seen from 151.93 to limit upside. Meanwhile, break of 137.22 support should confirm the start of the third leg to 127.20 (2023 low) and below.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.28; (P) 107.59; (R1) 108.10; More..

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation below 108.08 temporary top and intraday bias remains neutral first. Further rise is expected as long as 106.74 minor support holds. We’re favoring the case that corrective fall from 111.71 has already completed at 105.98. Break of 108.08 will turn bias to the upside for 109.38 resistance. However, break of 106.74 support will dampen our bullish view and turn bias to the downside for 105.98 instead.

In the bigger picture, at this point, whole decline from 118.65 (Dec 2016) continues to display a corrective look, with well channeling. There is no clear sign of completion yet. Break of 101.18 will target 98.97 (2016 low). Meanwhile, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the decline and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 115.60; (P) 115.89; (R1) 116.16; More…

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation below 116.34 temporary top and intraday bias remains neutral. Downside of retreat should be contained well above 114.26 support turned resistance to bring another rally. On the upside, sustained break of 61.8% projection of 109.11 to 115.51 from 112.52 at 116.47 will pave the way to 100% projection at 118.90, which is close to 118.65 long term resistance.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that rise from 102.58 is the third leg of the up trend from 101.18 (2020 low). Such rally should target a test on 118.65 (2016 high). Sustained break there will pave the way to 120.85 (2015 high) and raise the chance of long term up trend resumption. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 112.52 support holds, in case of deep pull back.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 105.92; (P) 106.16; (R1) 106.48; More..

Break of 106.21 resistance suggests resumption of whole rebound from 102.58. Intraday bias is back on the upside. Further rally could be seen to 61.8% retracement of 111.71 to 102.58 at 108.22. However, break of 104.91 support will argue that the rebound has completed, and turn near term outlook bearish.

USD/JPY’s decline continues today and hits as low as 105.44 so far. Intraday bias remains on the downside for 61.8% retracement of 101.18 to 111.71 at 105.20. Break there will target 100% projection of 111.71 to 105.98 from 109.85 at 104.12. On the upside, above 106.13 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But recovery should be limited by 106.63 support turned resistance to bring another fall.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec 2016). Hence, there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. The down trend could still extend through 101.18 low. However, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the down trend and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.88; (P) 109.07; (R1) 109.23; More…

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation from 109.48 temporary top. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Further rally is expected as long as 108.64 support holds. On the upside, break of 109.48 will resume the rise from 104.45 to 100% projection of 104.45 to 108.47 from 106.48 at 110.50. However, break of 108.64 will turn focus back to 107.88 support.

In the bigger picture, strong support was seen from 104.62 again. Yet, there is no confirmation of medium term reversal. Corrective decline from 118.65 (Dec. 2016) could still extend lower. But in that case, we’d expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound. Meanwhile, on the upside, break of 112.40 key resistance will be a strong sign of start of medium term up trend.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.78; (P) 145.31; (R1) 146.29; More…

Range trading continues in USD/JPY below 145.97 and intraday bias remains neutral. On the upside, above 145.97 will resume the rebound from 140.25. But upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 151.89 to 140.25 at 147.44. On the downside, below 143.17 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 140.25 low.

In the bigger picture, for now, fall from 151.89 is still seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 151.89. Another decline through 140.25 will target 61.8% retracement of 127.20 to 151.89 at 136.63. Sustained break there will pave the way to 127.20 support (2022 low). However, firm break of 147.44 fibonacci resistance will dampen this view and bring retest of 151.89 instead.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.06; (P) 144.67; (R1) 145.17; More…

No change in USD/JPY’s outlook as range trading continues. Intraday bias stays neutral for the moment. Further rally is expected as long as 139.37 resistance turned support holds. Break of 145.89 will target 147.68 long term resistance. On the downside, however, decisive break of 139.37 will confirm short term topping. Deeper decline would be seen back towards 130.38 support.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.29; (P) 110.83; (R1) 111.57; More….

USD/JPY is bounded in range of 110.10/112.19 and intraday bias remains neutral first. The pair is staying in the near term falling channel and the correction from 118.65 could extend lower. Below 110.10 will turn intraday bias to the downside for 50% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 108.81. On the upside, however, break of 112.19 resistance will indicate short term reversal and turn bias back to the upside for 115.49 resistance.

Nonetheless, sustained trading below 55 week EMA (now at 111.15) will extend the consolidation from 125.85 with another fall through 98.97 before completion.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.28; (P) 107.59; (R1) 108.10; More..

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as range trading continues.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.93; (P) 110.81; (R1) 111.31; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral cautiously on the downside with focus on 110.23 support. Break there will resume the decline from 114.36. In such case, deeper fall should be seen to 108.12 and below. Whole decline from 118.65 is seen as a correction and is still in progress. We’ll look for bottoming signal at 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48 as the correction extends. Meanwhile, above 111.70 will turn intraday bias back to the upside. But we’d expect strong resistance from 61.8% retracement of 114.36 to 110.23 at 112.78 to limit upside and bring fall resumption.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it’s completed yet. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77 to bring rebound. Overall, rise from 75.56 is still expected to resume later after the correction from 125.85 completes.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.28; (P) 112.72; (R1) 113.09; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as it’s bounded in range of 112.02/113.74.Also, outlook remains cautiously bullish as long as 112.02 holds and further rise is in favor. Break of 113.74 will resume the rebound from 110.83 and target 114.73 key resistance. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications. However, break of 112.02 will likely extend the corrective pattern from 114.73 with another leg through 110.83 support.

In the bigger picture, we’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 is completed at 107.31. And medium term rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is going to resume soon. Sustained break of 114.73 should affirm our view and send USD/JPY through 118.65. However, break of 107.31 will dampen this view and extend the medium term fall back to 98.97 low.
