USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.72; (P) 113.28; (R1) 113.73; More…

USD/JPY’s rebound from 111.58 extends to as high as 114.16 so far today. As noted before, correction from 118.65 should have completed at 111.58, on bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Intraday bias stays cautiously on the upside for 115.36 resistance. Break will confirm this bullish case and target 118.65 high next. In that case, the larger rally from 98.97 could be resuming. On the downside, below 112.85 minor support will dampen this bullish view and could extend the correction from 118.65. In that case, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 111.13 and bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 high are seen as a corrective pattern. The impulsive structure of the rise from 98.97 suggests that the correction is completed and larger up trend is resuming. Decisive break of 125.85 will confirm and target 61.8% projection of 75.56 to 125.85 from 98.97 at 130.04 and then 135.20 long term resistance. Rejection from 125.85 and below will extend the consolidation with another falling leg before up trend resumption.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.40; (P) 110.60; (R1) 110.93; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY stays mildly on the upside this week. Consolidation pattern from 111.65 could have completed already. Firm break of 110.79 resistance will target a test on 111.65 high. On the downside, however, below 110.30 minor support will mix up the near term outlook and turn bias neutral again.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. The pattern from 101.18 could still extend with another falling leg. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper fall to 107.47 support and below. Nevertheless, strong break of 111.71 resistance will confirm completion of the corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high). Further rise should then be seen to 114.54 and then 118.65 resistance.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.44; (P) 109.62; (R1) 109.82; More…

No change in USD/JPY’s outlook. With 109.14 minor support intact, further rise is still mildly in favor. Rebound from 104.69 could target 61.8% retracement of 114.54 to 104.69 at 110.77. We’d look for topping signal above there. On the downside, break of 109.14 minor support will be the first sign of completion of the rebound. Intraday bias will then be turned back to the downside.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 125.85 (2015 high) are seen as a long term corrective pattern, no change in this view. Apparently, such corrective pattern is not completed yet. Fall from 114.54 is seen as part of the falling leg from 118.65 (2016 high). Break of 104.62 will target 100% projection of 118.65 to 104.62 from 114.54 at 100.51, which is close to 100 psychological level. But in that case, we’d expect strong support from 98.97 to contain downside to bring reversal. Also, this bearish case will remain the preferred one as long as 114.54 resistance holds.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.82; (P) 109.93; (R1) 110.08; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral at this point. In case of another rise, we’d expect strong resistance from 61.8% retracement of 114.54 to 104.69 at 110.77 to limit upside to bring reversal. On the downside, break of 108.49 support will now confirm completion of the rebound and bring retest of 104.69 low. However, sustained trading above 110.77 will dampen our bearish view and target a test on 114.54 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 104.69 is strong, there is no change in the view that it’s a corrective move. That is, fall from 114.54, as part of the decline from 118.65 (2016 high), is not completed yet. Break of 104.62 will target 100% projection of 118.65 to 104.62 from 114.54 at 100.51, which is close to 100 psychological level. Nevertheless, sustained trading above 55 day EMA (now at 110.55) will dampen this bearish view and turn focus back to 114.54 resistance instead.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 149.47; (P) 150.02; (R1) 150.50; More…

USD/JPY recovers in early US sessions but stays in range below 150.87. Intraday bias remains neutral and more consolidation would be seen. But in case of another retreat, downside should be contained by 148.79 resistance turned support to bring another rally. Above 150.87 will resume the rise from 140.25 to 151.89/93 key resistance zone. Decisive break there will confirm larger up trend resumption of 155.50 projection level next. However, firm break of 148.79 will turn bias to the downside for 145.88 support.

In the bigger picture, fall from 151.89 is seen as a correction to the rally from 127.20, which might have completed at 140.25 already. Firm break of 151.89/93 resistance zone will confirm up trend resumption, and next target will be 61.8% projection of 127.20 to 151.89 from 140.25 at 155.50. This will now remain the favored case as long as 140.25 support holds.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 147.19; (P) 147.51; (R1) 147.99; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned neutral with current retreat, and some consolidations could be seen. But near term outlook will stay bullish as long as 144.43 support holds. On the upside, above 147.88 will resume larger rally from 127.20, to retest 151.93 high.

In the bigger picture, overall price actions from 151.93 (2022 high) are views as a corrective pattern. Rise from 127.20 is seen as the second leg of the pattern and could still be in progress. But even in case of extended rise, strong resistance should be seen from 151.93 to limit upside. Meanwhile, break of 137.22 support should confirm the start of the third leg to 127.20 (2023 low) and below.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 113.50; (P) 114.00; (R1) 114.74; More…

USD/JPY’s rise from 111.58 extends to as high as 114.94 so far today. Intraday bias remains on the upside for 115.36 resistance. We’re holding on to the view that correction from 118.65 has completed at 111.58. Break of 115.36 will confirm this bullish case and bring retest of 118.65 high. Meanwhile, below 112.85 minor support will dampen this bullish view and could extend the correction from 118.65.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 112.98; (P) 113.32; (R1) 113.57; More…

USD/JPY’s pull back from 114.69 resumes by breaking 113.24 and intraday bias is mildly on the downside. While deeper fall could be seen, we’d still expect downside to be contained above 112.07 resistance turned support to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 113.65 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 114.69. However, sustained break of 112.07 will dampen our bullish view and bring deeper fall back towards 109.11 structural support.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high) should have completed at 101.18 already. Rise from the 102.58 is seen as the third leg of the up trend from 101.18. Next target is 114.54 resistance and then 118.65 high. This will now be the preferred case as long as 109.11 support hold, even in case of deep pull back.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.22; (P) 144.47; (R1) 144.72; More…

Range trading continues in USD/JPY and intraday bias stays neutral. On the downside, break of 55 4H EMA (now at 143.85) could trigger deeper correction. But further rally will remain in favor as long as 140.90 resistance turned support holds. On the upside, break of 145.06 will resume larger rise to 161.8% projection of 127.20 to 137.90 from 129.62 at 146.93.

In the bigger picture, rise from 127.20 is currently seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 151.93 high. Further rally is expected as long as 138.75 support holds, to retest 151.93. But strong resistance could be seen there to limit upside. Break of 138.75 will indicate the the third leg has started back towards 127.20.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 130.79; (P) 131.27; (R1) 132.06; More…

USD/JPY is staying in consolidation above 129.62 temporary low and intraday bias remains neutral. Outlook remains bearish as long as 132.99 resistance holds. Break of 129.62 will target a test on 127.20 low. Decisive break there will resume larger decline from 151.93 to 61.8% projection of 151.93 to 127.20 from 137.90 at 122.61.

In the bigger picture, rebound from 127.20 should have completed at 137.90 as a corrective move. The down trend from 151.93 (2022 high) is still in progress. Break of 127.20 will resume this down trend and target 61.8% projection of 151.93 to 127.20 from 137.90 at 122.61. This will now be the favored case as long as 137.90 resistance holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.26; (P) 142.07; (R1) 142.59; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is mildly on the downside. Fall from 143.88 could be the third leg of the pattern from 145.06. Deeper fall would be seen to 55 D EMA (now at 140.50). On the upside, though, above 143.88 will resume the rise from 137.22 to retest 145.06 resistance instead.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 106.31; (P) 107.03; (R1) 107.48; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 105.54 is extending. Outlook remains bearish with 108.27 resistance intact and deeper fall is expected. Break of 105.54 will extend the larger fall from 118.65 and target 100% projection of 118.65 to 108.12 from 114.73 at 104.20 next. However, break of 107.72 will be the first sign of near term reversal and will target 110.47 resistance for confirmation.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the corrective pattern from 118.65 is extending. The solid break of 61.8% retracement of 98.97 to 118.65 at 106.48. now suggests that the pattern from 125.85 high is possibly extending. Deeper fall could be seen through 98.97 key support (2016 low). This bearish case will now be favored as long as 110.47 resistance holds.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 108.51; (P) 108.72; (R1) 109.14; More..

USD/JPY’s rally continues today and hits as high as 109.22 so far. Intraday bias stays on the upside for channel resistance at 110.02 next. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications. On the downside, below 108.08 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations. But outlook will stay bullish as long as 106.21 resistance turned support holds.

In the bigger picture, focus is now back on long term channel resistance (now at 110.02). Sustained break there will indicate that the down trend from 118.65 (Dec 2016) has completed. Further break of 112.22 resistance will confirm this bullish case and target 118.65 next. However, rejection by the channel resistance will keep medium term outlook bearish.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 145.64; (P) 146.02; (R1) 146.74; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY is turned neutral with current retreat and some consolidations could be seen. On the upside, sustained break of 61.8% projection of 129.62 to 145.06 from 137.22 at 146.76 will pave the way to retest 151.93 high. However, considering bearish divergence conditio in 4H MACD, firm break or 143.88 resistance turned support will be a sign of reversal, and turn bias back to the downside for 55 D EMA (now at 141.65).

Daily Pivots: (S1) 107.21; (P) 107.64; (R1) 107.99; More...

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 106.91 will extend the decline from 111.71 to 100% projection of 111.71 to 106.91 from 109.38 at 104.58. On the upside, break of 109.38 will suggest that fall from 111.71 has completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 111.71/112.22 resistance zone.

In the bigger picture, at this point, whole decline from 118.65 (Dec 2016) continues to display a corrective look, with well channeling. There is no clear sign of completion yet. Break of 101.18 will target 98.97 (2016 low). Meanwhile, sustained break of 112.22 should confirm completion of the decline and turn outlook bullish for 118.65 and above.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 109.20; (P) 109.53; (R1) 109.87; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains neutral with focus on 110.26 minor resistance. Break there will resume the rebound from 108.10 for a test on 111.39 high. On the downside, below 109.18 will bring another fall to 108.10 or below. Overall, price actions from 111.39 are viewed as a corrective pattern which might extend. But in case of deeper fall, we’d expect strong support from 61.8% retracement of 104.62 to 111.39 at 107.20 to contain downside and bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, at this point, we’re slightly favoring the case that corrective decline from 118.65 (2016 high) has completed with three waves down to 104.62. Above 111.39 will affirm this view and target 114.73 for confirmation. However, it should be noted that USD/JPY is bounded in medium term falling channel from 118.65 (2016 high). Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 104.62 to 111.39 at 107.20 will likely resume the fall from 118.65 through 104.62 low.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 117.60; (P) 117.91; (R1) 118.52; More…

USD/JPY’s rally is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside for 118.65 long term resistance next. Firm break there will target 100% projection of 109.11 to 116.34 from 114.40 at 121.63. On the downside, below 117.78 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidation first. But retreat should be contained by 116.34 resistance turned support to bring another rally.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that rise from 102.58 is the third leg of the up trend from 101.18 (2020 low). Such rally should target a test on 118.65 (2016 high). Sustained break there will pave the way to 125.85 (2015 high) and raise the chance of long term up trend resumption. This will remain the favored case as long as 113.46 support holds.

USD/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 110.69; (P) 110.90; (R1) 111.16; More…

USD/JPY is losing some upside momentum again but further rise is mildly in favor for 111.71 resistance. Sustained break there will carry larger bullish implications. Next target is 61.8% projection of 102.58 to 110.95 from 107.47 at 112.64 next. For now, near term outlook will stay cautiously bullish as long as 109.70 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is staying neutral with 111.71 resistance intact. On the upside, decisive break of 111.71/112.22 resistance will suggest medium term bullish reversal. Rise from 101.18 could then target 118.65 resistance (Dec 2016) and above. However, sustained break of 107.47 support would revive some medium term bearishness, and open up deep fall to 61.8% retracement of 102.58 to 110.95 at 105.77 and below.

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 105.92; (P) 106.16; (R1) 106.48; More..

Break of 106.21 resistance suggests resumption of whole rebound from 102.58. Intraday bias is back on the upside. Further rally could be seen to 61.8% retracement of 111.71 to 102.58 at 108.22. However, break of 104.91 support will argue that the rebound has completed, and turn near term outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, USD/JPY is still staying in long term falling channel that started back in 118.65 (Dec. 2016), and there is no clear indication of trend reversal yet. Though, sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 105.84) will be the first sign of reversal and turn focus to channel resistance (now at 110.15).

USD/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 111.68; (P) 111.88; (R1) 112.22; More…

Intraday bias in USD/JPY remains on the upside with focus on 112.13 key resistance. Decisive break there will resume whole rise from 104.69 for 100 % projection of 109.71 to 111.82 and 110.84 at 112.95 first. On the downside, below 111.69 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral. But, break of 110.84 is needed to confirm completion of rise form 109.71. Otherwise, further rally will remain in favor in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook in USD/JPY remains a bit mixed as it’s staying inside falling channel from 118.65, but there are signs of bullish reversal. On the upside, break of 114.54 resistance will revive the case the corrective fall from 118.65 has completed with three waves down to 104.69. And whole rise from 98.97 (2016 low) is resuming for 118.65 and above. But before that, outlook stays neutral first.
