USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2531; (P) 1.2544; (R1) 1.2564; More….

For the moment, further rise is in favor with 1.2448 minor support intact. Rally from 1.2061 would target 1.2777 resistance first. Decisive break there will target key medium term fibonacci level at target 38.2% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2061 at 1.3065. On the downside, break of 1.2448 will indicate short term topping and turn bias back to the downside for retesting 1.2061 low.

In the bigger picture, USD/CAD should have defended 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4869 (2016 high) at 1.2048. And with 1.2048 intact, we’d favor the case that fall from 1.4689 is a correction. Break of 1.2777 will further affirm this bullish case. That is, larger up trend from 0.9406 is not completed. And in that case, USD/CAD should target 1.3793 resistance next. However, on the other hand, firm break of 1.2048 will indicate that fall from 1.4689 is at least a medium term down trend and should target 61.8% retracement at 1.1424 and below.

Intraday bias in USD/CAD is back on the upside as rise from 1.3176 resumed by breaking through 1.3543 resistance. Firm break of 61.8% projection of 1.3176 to 1.3540 from 1.3357 at 1.3582 will pave the way to 100% projection at 1.3721. On the downside, break of 1.3438 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3976 (2022 high) are viewed as a corrective pattern only. In case of another fall, strong support should emerge above 1.2947 resistance turned support to bring rebound. Overall, larger up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low) is still expected to resume through 1.3976 at a later stage.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3703; (P) 1.3725; (R1) 1.3752; More

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains on the upside for the moment. Corrective pattern from 1.3845 might have completed with three waves to 1.3588, after hitting 38.2% retracement of 1.3716 to 1.3845 at 1.3589. Further rise should be seen to 1.3790 resistance first. Firm break there will likely resume whole rally from 1.3176 to 61.8% projection of 1.3176 to 1.3845 from 1.3588 at 1.4025. Nevertheless, break of 1.3670 minor support will dampen this bearish case.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3976 (2022 high) are viewed as a corrective pattern. In case of another fall, strong support should emerge above 1.2947 resistance turned support to bring rebound. Firm break of 1.3976 will confirm up resumption of whole up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low). Next target is 61.8% projection of 1.2401 to 1.3976 from 1.3176 at 1.4149.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD’s rebound last week confirmed short term bottoming at 1.2412. Initial bias stays on the upside this week. Current rebound could be corrective whole decline from 1.3793 and might target 38.2% retracement of 1.3793 to 1.2412 at 1.2940. On the downside, break of 1.2552 minor support will indicate completion of the rebound. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.2412 low.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. A short term bottom is formed at 1.2412 after hitting 61.8% projection of 1.4689 to 1.2460 from 1.3793 at 1.2415. But there is no sign of completion of the correction yet. Break of 1.2412 will target 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4869 at 1.2048. At this point, we’d look for strong support from there to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, sustained break of 1.2968, 38.2% retracement of 1.3793 to 1.2412 at 1.2940 will be the first sign of completion of the correction and will turn focus back to 1.3793 key resistance.

In the longer term picture, rise from 0.9056 (2007 low) is viewed as a long term up trend. It’s taking a breath after hitting 1.4689. But such rise is expected to resume later to test 1.6196 down the road. But firm break of 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4869 at 1.2048 will raise doubt over this view.

USD/CAD’s break of 1.2687 suggests resumption of rebound from 1.2246. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 100% projection of 1.2246 to 1.2687 from 1.2450 at 1.2891, which is close to 1.2919 key resistance. We’d be cautious on strong resistance from there to limit upside. On the downside, below 1.2450 will target 1.2246 first. Break there will extend the fall from 1.2919 and target 1.2061 keys support level.

In the bigger picture, the rebound from 1.2246 is mixing up the medium term outlook. Nonetheless, USD/CAD is staying below falling 55 week EMA (now at 1.2776), hence, the bearish case is in favor. That is, fall from 1.4689 is not completed yet. Sustained break of 1.2061 key support will carry larger bearish implication and target 61.8% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4689 at 1.1424. However, firm break of 1.2919 will revive the case of medium term reversal and turn outlook bullish.

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains neutral for the moment, and outlook is unchanged. Further decline is expected as long as 1.3386 resistance holds. Break of 1.3091 will resume larger fall and target 61.8% projection of 1.3653 to 1.3115 from 1.3386 at 1.3054. However, firm break of 1.3386 will indicate near term reversal and turn outlook bullish.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3976 are viewed as a correction to up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low) only. But even so, deeper decline is expected as long as 1.3386 resistance holds. Further fall could be seen to 61.8% retracement of 1.2005 to 1.3976 at 1.2758. Meanwhile, break of 1.3386 will be a sign that the correction has completed and bring stronger rally back to retest 1.3976.

USD/CAD’s consolidation from 1.3793 temporary top is still in progress. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. Rise from 1.2460 is seen as a corrective pattern. Hence, in case of another rally, we’ll be cautious on topping at around 1.3838 fibonacci level. Meanwhile, consider bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 1.3534 support will argue that rise from 1.2968 is already completed. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.3222 support.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. The first leg has completed at 1.2460. Rise from 1.2460 is seen as the second leg and would end at around 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2460 at 1.3838. Break of 1.3222 should indicate the start of the third leg while further break of 1.2968 should confirm. Nonetheless, sustained trading above 1.3838 would pave the way to retest 1.4689 high.

Break of 1.3387 will target a test on 1.3598 resistance next. Also, break there will extend the larger rally from 1.2460 towards next fibonacci level at 1.3838. In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. The first leg has completed at 1.2460. The second leg is likely still in progress and could target 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2460 at 1.3838. We’d look for reversal signal there to start the third leg. As long as 1.2623 support turned resistance holds, deeper decline is expected. Break of 1.2354 will extend the fall from 1.2910 to retest 1.2061 low.

USD/CAD dropped sharply from 1.2891, but still it’s staying in range below 1.2916. Consolidation from there is in progress and intraday bias remains neutral. USD/CAD is staying in consolidation from 1.2061 temporary low and intraday bias remains neutral. We’ll stay cautious on strong support from 1.2048 long term fibonacci level to bring sustainable rebound. But still, break of 1.2412 support turned resistance is needed to be the first sign of trend reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish. Firm break of 1.2048 will pave the way to next fibonacci level at 1.1424.

In the bigger picture, current downside acceleration is raising the chance that whole long term rise from 0.9406 (2011 low), and that from 0.9056 (2007 low) is completed at 1.4689. Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains neutral first and further rise is expected with 1.3209 minor support intact. Break of 1.3310 will resume the rise from 1.3133 to retest 1.3382 resistance first. Break will resume whole rise from 1.3016 and target 1.3564 resistance next. However, break of 1.3209 will dampen our bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 1.3016 low.

In the bigger picture, key cluster support of 1.3068 (38.2% retracement of 1.2061 to 1.3664 at 1.3052) remains intact. Medium term rise from 1.2061 low is in favor to resume sooner or later. Firm break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 will confirm and target 1.4689 high. However, sustained break of 1.3052/68 will confirm completion of up trend from 1.2061 (2017 low). Further fall should be seen to 61.8% retracement at 1.2673 next.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3299; (P) 1.3316; (R1) 1.3350; More

USD/CAD recovers after hitting 1.3284 and intraday bias is turned neutral again. On the downside, firm break of 1.3250 support will indicate completion of whole rebound from 1.3068. In that case, deeper fall would be seen back to 1.3068/3112 support zone. On the upside, firm break of 1.3467 resistance will resume rise from 1.3068. Further rally should be seen to retest 1.3664 next.

In the bigger picture, structure of the medium term rise from 1.2061 (2017 low) to 1.3664 is not clearly impulsive. Hence, we’d stay cautious on strong resistance from 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 and 1.3793 resistance to limit upside, and bring medium term topping. But in any case, medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as channel support (now at 1.3210) holds. Sustained break of 1.3793 will pave the way to retest 1.4689 (2015 high). However, firm break of the channel support should confirm reversal and target 1.2061 low again.
