GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2877; (P) 1.2923; (R1) 1.2954; More….

GBP/USD’s decline suggests that consolidation from 1.3012 is extending with the third falling leg. Downside should be contained by 1.2768 support to bring rise resumption. On the upside, break of 1.3012 will resume whole rally from 1.1958. However, break of 1.2768 will bring deeper fall back to 1.2582 resistance turned support.

In the bigger picture, a medium term bottom was formed at 1.1958, ahead of 1.1946 (2016 low). At this point, rise from 1.1958 is seen as the third leg of consolidation from 1.1946. Further rise would be seen back towards 1.4376 resistance. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds. However, firm break of 1.2582 will turn focus back to 1.1946 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2448; (P) 1.2495; (R1) 1.2540; More…

GBP/USD’s rebound form 1.2298 is resuming and intraday bias is back on the upside. Further rally would be seen to 55 D EMA (now at 1.2582). Sustained break there will argue that fall from 1.2892 has completed already, and bring further rise to this resistance. Nevertheless, on the downside, break of 1.2448 minor support will bring retest of 1.2298 low instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Fall from 1.2892 is seen as the third leg. Deeper decline would be seen to 1.2036 support and possibly below. But strong support should emerge from 61.8% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2452 at 1.1417 to complete the correction.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2009; (P) 1.2072; (R1) 1.2110; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral and another decline is in favor with 1.2269 resistance intact. On the downside, break of 1.1914 will resume the fall from 1.2446, as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.2445, to 1.1840 support and possibly below. Nevertheless, firm break of 1.2269 will bring retest of 1.2445/6 resistance.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2272; (P) 1.2304; (R1) 1.2322; More….

Break of 1.2204 minor temporary low suggests resumption of fall from 1.2582. Corrective rebound from 1.1958 should have completed at 1.2582. Intraday bias is back on the downside for retesting 1.1946/58 key support zone. on the upside, though, above 1.2413 will bring another rebound to 1.2582 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, we’d remain cautious on medium term bottoming around 1.1946 (2016 low). Sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 1.2727) will extend the consolidation pattern from 1.1946 with another rise to 1.4376 resistance. Nevertheless, decisive break of 1.1946 will resume down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) to 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2225; (P) 1.2279; (R1) 1.2320; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral as sideway trading continues. Outlook stays bearish as long as 1.2666 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 1.1932 will resume larger down trend from 1.4248. However, firm break of 1.2666 will suggest medium term bottoming and bring stronger rebound back towards 1.3158 support turned resistance.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409 (2020 low), or resuming the longer term down trend. Deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2666 resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low. However, firm break of 1.2666 will bring stronger rise back to 55 week EMA (now at 1.3140).

GBP/USD is staying in range above 1.2999 and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the downside, break of 1.2999 will resume larger down trend from 1.4248. However, firm break of 1.3210 should confirm short term bottoming. Stronger rise should be seen back to 55 day EMA (now at 1.3361).

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248. Decline from 1.4248 could still be a corrective move, or it could be the start of a long term down trend. In either case, deeper decline would be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493. In any case, break of 1.3748 resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming, or outlook will stay bearish.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside at this point. As noted before, corrective fall from 1.4282 should have completed with three waves down to 1.3158, after hitting 1.3164 medium term fibonacci level. Further rally should be seen to 1.3833 resistance next. On the downside, below 1.3531 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. On resumption, next target will be 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.5134. Nevertheless sustained break of 1.3164 will argue that whole rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is probably resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is expected to extend higher to retest 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

Sustained break there will add to the case of long term bullish trend reversal. Further break of 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3095 could prompt upside acceleration to 100% projection at 1.3895.
