GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2499; (P) 1.2524; (R1) 1.2567; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside for 1.2614 resistance. Break there will resume whole rise from 1.2108 and target 100% projection of 1.2108 to 1.2614 from 1.2365 at 1.2871. But overall, price actions from 1.1946 low are viewed as a consolidation pattern. We’d expect strong resistance around 55 week EMA (now at 1.3015) to limit upside and bring down trend resumption. But for now, further rise will be favored in near term as long as 1.2365 support holds.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term reversal yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

Break of 1.2647 will resume the whole rise from 1.1409 and target 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.2647 from 1.2065 at 1.2830 next. On the downside, however, below 1.2375 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2065 instead.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is no indication of trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. Next medium term target will be 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.3514 at 1.0273. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 1.3514 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD is still extending the consolidation from 1.2036 and intraday bias remains neutral. Downside breakout is in favor with 1.2336 resistance intact. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2036 will resume whole decline from 1.3141 for 1.1801 support next. However, break of 1.2336 will turn bias back to the upside for 38.2% retracement of 1.3141 to 1.2036 at 1.2458.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top could still be a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) only. But risk of complete trend reversal is rising. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.1417. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 1.2346) holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3007; (P) 1.3044; (R1) 1.3069; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point and further rise is mildly in favor. Current development suggests that corrective pull back from 1.3381 has completed at 1.2865. On the upside, above 1.3102 will target 1.3381 resistance first. Break will resume whole rebound from 1.2391. On the downside, though, break of 1.2865 will target 1.2773 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) halted after hitting 1.2391. The structure of the rebound from 1.2391 suggests that it’s a corrective move. In case of another rise, strong resistance could be seen around 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 to limit upside. On the downside, break of 1.2773 support will suggests that such corrective rise is completed and bring retest of 1.2391 low first.

GBP/USD is still bounded in range of 1.2346/2705 and intraday bias stays neutral for the moment. Price actions from 1.1946 are viewed as a consolidation pattern, with rise from 1.1986 as the third leg. In case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.2774 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, below 1.2346 will revive the case that such consolidation is completed at 1.2705 already. In that case, intraday bias will turn back to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term bottoming yet. Intraday bias in GBP/USD is back on the downside with break of 1.3080 temporary low. Sustained break of 61.8% projection of 1.4248 to 1.3158 from 1.3748 at 1.3074 will extend the down trend from 1.4248 to 100% projection at 1.2658. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 1.3270 support turned resistance holds, in case of another recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248. Decline from 1.4248 could still be a corrective move, or it could be the start of a long term down trend. In either case, deeper decline would now be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493. In case, break of 1.3748 resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming, or outlook will stay bearish.

GBP/USD’s consolidation from 1.3012 is still in progress and intraday bias remains neutral first. Deeper pull back could be seen. But downside should be contained above 1.2582 resistance turned support to bring rise resumption. On the upside, break of 1.3012 will resume the rise from 1.1958 to 161.8% projection of 1.1958 to 1.2582 from 1.2195 at 1.3205 next.

In the bigger picture, current development affirms the case of medium term bottoming at 1.1958, ahead of 1.1946 (2016 low). At this point, rise from 1.1958 is seen as the third leg of consolidation from 1.1946. Further rise would be seen back towards 1.4376 resistance. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2098; (P) 1.2130; (R1) 1.2155; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as range trading continues. Outlook also stays bearish with 1.2336 resistance intact. On the downside, firm break of 1.2036 will resume whole decline from 1.3141 for 1.1801 support next.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3337; (P) 1.3389; (R1) 1.3435; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. Break of 1.3341 minor support will confirm completion of the corrective rise from 1.3203. Intraday bias would be turn to the downside. And fall from 1.4376 should resume through 1.3203 to 50% retracement of 1.1946 to 1.4376 at 1.3161 first, and 61.8% retracement at 1.2875 next. In case of another rally, upside should be limited by 1.3617 resistance to bring reversal.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that whole medium term rebound from 1.1936 (2016 low) has completed at 1.4376 already, with trend line broken firmly, on bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4223). 61.8% retracement of 1.1936 (2016 low) to 1.4376 at 1.2874 is the next target. We’ll pay attention to the reaction from there to asses the chance of long term down trend resumption. For now, outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3617 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2206; (P) 1.2253; (R1) 1.2336; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays on the upside at this point. Rise from 1.1840 is in progress for retesting 1.2445 high. Firm break there will resume whole rally from 1.0351 to 1.2759 fibonacci level. On the downside, break of 1.2168 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2939; (P) 1.2980; (R1) 1.3004; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. With 1.3111 resistance intact, near term outlook stays bearish and further fall is expected. As noted before, price actions from 1.1946 are seen as a corrective pattern and could have completed at 1.3267. Break of 1.2932 will affirm this bearish case and target 1.2588 key near term support for confirmation. However, break of 1.3111 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 1.3267 high instead.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern. While further rise cannot be ruled out, larger outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Down trend from 1.7190 (2014 high) is expected to resume later after the correction completes. And break of 1.2588 will indicate that such down trend is resuming.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2280; (P) 1.2327; (R1) 1.2363; More

GBP/USD is still bounded in right range above 1.2259 temporary low. Intraday bias remains neutral and some more consolidations could still be seen. In case of another recovery, upside should be limited by 1.2637 resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, firm break of 161.8% projection of 1.3641 to 1.2999 from 1.3297 at 1.2258 will extend recent down trend to 200% projection at 1.2013 next.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) at least at the same degree as the rise form 1.1409 (2020 low). That is, fall from 1.4248 could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409, or resuming the longer term down trend. In either case, deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2999 support turned resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2664; (P) 1.2664; (R1) 1.2709; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. With 1.2642 minor support intact, corrective rebound from 1.2506 could still extend. But upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 1.3381 to 1.2506 at 1.2840. On the downside, break of 1.2642 minor support will turn intraday bias back to retest 1.2506 low. However, sustained break of 1.2840 will bring stronger rise to 61.8% retracement at 1.3047 next.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4376 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence, focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2586; (P) 1.2621; (R1) 1.2678; More

GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.2546 extends higher today but it’s still capped below 1.2799 resistance. Intraday bias stays neutral first. On the downside, break of 1.2546 will resume whole fall from 1.3141 to 61.8% projection of 1.3141 to 1.2618 from 1.2799 at 1.2476. However, on the upside, firm break of 1.2799 will indicate that the correction from 1.3141 has completed with three waves down to 1.2546. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 1.3141.

In the bigger picture, for now, fall from 1.3141 medium term top is seen as a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Strong support would be seen there to bring rebound on first attempt. But outlook will be neutral at best as long as 1.3141 resistance holds, and consolidation from there is set to extend, until further development.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3219; (P) 1.3310; (R1) 1.3366; More….

GBP/USD’s fall from 1.3651 is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the downside. Current decline would extend to 61.8% retracement of 1.2773 to 1.3651 at 1.3108. On the upside, break of 1.3454 minor resistance is needed to signal completion of the decline. Otherwise, near term outlook remains mildly bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the long term trend in GBP/USD has reversed. That is, a key bottom was formed back in 1.1946 on bullish convergence condition in monthly MACD. Current rise from 1.1946 will target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466 next. In any case, medium term outlook will now stay bullish as long as 1.2773 support holds.

GBP/USD Daily Chart

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2994; (P) 1.3033; (R1) 1.3085; More

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook. With 1.2896 minor support intact, further rise is expected for 100% projection of 1.2661 to 1.3042 from 1.2784 at 1.3165, and possibly above. However, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.3316 key fibonacci level to complete the corrective rise and bring near term reversal. On the downside, break of 1.2896 minor support will now argue that rebound from 1.2661 has completed. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.2784 and then 1.2661.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4099). The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2960; (P) 1.2988; (R1) 1.3024; More….

GBP/USD’s break of 1.3079 minor resistance suggests that corrective fall form 1.3514 has completed at 1.2905, after drawing support from 38.2% retracement of 1.1958 to 1.3514 at 1.2920. Intraday bias is turned back to the upside for retesting 1.3514 high. On the downside, sustained trading below 1.2920 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2552.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom expected to extend higher to retest 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3302; (P) 1.3366; (R1) 1.3403; More….

GBP/USD dips mildly as consolidative trading from 1.3549 continues. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. As long as 1.3220 support holds, we’d continue to favor another rise. On the upside, break of 1.3549 will target 1.3651 high next. However, firm break of 1.3220 will turn near term outlook bearish for 1.3038 key support level.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 low was strong, it’s limited below 1.3835 key support turned resistance. As long as 1.3835 holds, we’d view such rebound as a correction. That is, we’d expect another leg in the long term down trend through 1.1946 low. However, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

GBP/USD’s rally is trying to regain momentum above 1.3835 key resistance level. Intraday bias is mildly on the upside at this point. Sustained trading above 1.3835 will carry larger bullish implication and should target long term fibonacci level at 1.5466 next. On the downside, though, break of 1.3741 minor support will indicate rejection from 1.3835 and turn bias to the downside for 1.3457.

In the bigger picture, sustained break of 1.3835 key resistance level will indicate that rebound from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from from 2007 high at 2.1161. In that case, further rise should be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. Nonetheless, rejection from 1.3835 will maintain medium term bearishness and thus, the risk retesting 1.1946 ahead.
