GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2563; (P) 1.2614; (R1) 1.2710; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside at this point. Rise from 1.2251 should target a test on 1.2813 resistance first. Break there will resume whole rise from 1.1409. Next target will be 100% projection of 1.1409 to 1.2647 from 1.2065 at 1.3303. On the downside, break of 1.2480 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, further rise will remain in favor in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is not enough evidence for trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. However, decisive break of 1.3514 should at least confirm medium term bottoming and turn outlook bullish for 1.4376 resistance first.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2840; (P) 1.2872; (R1) 1.2935; More

GBP/USD falls sharply after hitting 1.2994 and intraday bias is turned neutral again. On the downside, break of 1.2796 will resume the fall from 1.3141 to 55 D EMA (now at 1.2721) and possibly below. On the upside, above 1.2994 will resume the rebound from 1.2796 and target a test on 1.3141 high instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.2678 resistance turned support holds, rise from 1.0351 (2022 low) is expected to continue. Next target is 100% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3895. However, sustained break of 1.2678 will argue that it’s at least correcting this rally, with risk of bearish reversal..

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD rose to 1.2203 last week but turned sideway since then. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Corrective pattern from 1.2445 could have completed with three waves to 1.1801 already. On the upside, above 1.2203 will resume the rally from 1.2445/6 resistance zone next. However, decisive break of 4 hour 55 EMA (now at 1.2065) will argue that the pattern from 1.2445 is extending with another falling leg, and turn bias to the downside for 1.1801 again.

In the bigger picture, price action from 1.2445 are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low). Resumption is expected as a later stage and firm break of 1.2446 will target 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. This will remain the favored case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2445 at 1.1645 holds.

In the long term picture, as long as 1.4248 resistance holds (2021 high), long term outlook will remain neutral at best. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007) could still resume for another low through 1.0351 at a later stage.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2369; (P) 1.2438; (R1) 1.2478; More

GBP/USD’s fall from 1.3141 is in progress and intraday bias stays on the downside. Next target is 100% projection of 1.3141 to 1.2618 from 1.2799 at 1.2276. On the upside, however, firm break of 1.2547 resistance will now indicate short term bottoming, and bring stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top is seen as a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Strong support would be seen there to bring rebound on first attempt. But outlook will be neutral at best as long as 1.3141 resistance holds, and consolidation from there is set to extend, until further development.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.4255; (P) 1.4316; (R1) 1.4350; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral with a temporary top in place at 1.4372. Some consolidations could be seen. But downside should be contained by 1.4144 minor support to bring another rally. On the upside, break of 1.4372 will resume medium term rise to 61.8% projection of 1.3038 to 1.4345 from 1.3711 at 1.4519 next. However, break of 1.4144 will be and early sign of medium term topping and turn focus back to 1.3965 support first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1946 (2016 low) is in progress and resuming. It is at least correcting the long term down trend from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rally would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. We’d continue to favor this medium term bullish view as long as 1.3711 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s corrective fall from 1.3514 extended to as low as 1.2725 last week, and touched 50% retracement of 1.1958 to 1.3514 at 1.2736. Further fall is expected this week as long as 1.3018 resistance holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement at 1.2552. We’d look for strong support from there to bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, current decline from 1.3514 is seen as corrective the rally form 1.1958. Such rally is expected to resume latter to 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. However, sustained break of 1.2582 resistance turned support will dampen these views and bring retest of 1.1958 low instead.

In the longer term picture, it’s still unsure whether long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) has completed at 1.1946 already. Focus is immediately on 55 month EMA (now at 1.3489) and sustained break will be the first serious sign of long term reversal. Further break of trend line resistance (now at 1.3922) will be another signal. Focus would then be turned to 1.4376 key resistance for confirmation.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2659; (P) 1.2683; (R1) 1.2716; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral as it’s staying in range below 1.2708. On the upside, break of 1.2708 resistance will indicate that correction from 1.2826 has completed. Intraday bias will be back on the upside for retesting 1.2826. Nevertheless, decisive break of 1.2499 will argue that whole rise from 1.2036 has completed and turn near term outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg, which could be still in progress. But upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2499 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2297; (P) 1.2346; (R1) 1.2400; More….

GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.2065 is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the upside. Current developments argues that rebound from 1.1409 is possibly still in progress. Further rally would be seen to 1.2647 and break will target 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.2647 from 1.2065 at 1.2830 next. On the downside, however, below 1.2204 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2065 instead.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is no indication of trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. Next medium term target will be 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.3514 at 1.0273. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 1.3514 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3479; (P) 1.3517; (R1) 1.3576; More…..

GBP/USD dipped to 1.3457 but recovered quickly again. The price actions from 1.3612 are now clearly corrective. Hence even in case of another fall, downside should be contained well above 1.3300 support to bring rise resumption. And, break of 1.3612/51 resistance zone will now target 1.3835 key resistance level next.

In the bigger picture, the break of long term trend line resistance from 1.7190 (2014 high) is seen as a sign of long term reversal. However, rise from 1.1946 (2016 low) is not impulsive looking. And the pair is limited below 1.3835 key resistance. Hence, we won’t turn bullish yet and would continue to monitor the development. On the downside, break of 1.3038 support will now indicate that rebound from 1.1946 has completed and turn outlook bearish. Meanwhile, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as range trading continues. Intraday bias stays neutral for the moment. Further rally is expected as long as 1.1898 support holds. Break of 1.2343 will resume larger rally from 1.0351 and target 1.2759 medium term fibonacci level next. However, firm break of 1.1898 support will confirm short term topping and turn bias back to the downside.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248.

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as fall from 1.3141 is extending today. Intraday bias remains on the downside for 100% projection of 1.3141 to 1.2618 from 1.2799 at 1.2276. On the upside, though, firm break of 1.2547 resistance will now indicate short term bottoming, and bring stronger rebound.

However, sustained break of 1.2075 will raise the chance of bearish trend reversal.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3314; (P) 1.3417; (R1) 1.3480; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. We’ll slightly favor another rise as long as 1.3220 support holds. Break of 1.3549 will target 1.3651 high next. However, firm break of 1.3220 will turn near term outlook bearish for 1.3038 key support level.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 low was strong, it’s limited below 1.3835 key support turned resistance. As long as 1.3835 holds, we’d view such rebound as a correction. That is, we’d expect another leg in the long term down trend through 1.1946 low. However, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

A temporary low should be in place at 1.2109 in GBP/USD and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Some consolidations could be seen, and stronger recovery cannot be ruled out. But near term risk will stay on the downside as long as 1.2618 support turned resistance holds. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2075 fibonacci level would carry larger bearish implication and target 1.1801 support next.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top could still be a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) only. But risk of complete trend reversal is rising. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.1417. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 1.2526) holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3004; (P) 1.3064; (R1) 1.3101; More

GBP/USD’s decline is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the downside. Current down trend from 1.4248 should target 100% projection of 1.4248 to 1.3158 from 1.3748 at 1.2658 next. On the upside, break of 1.3193 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248. Decline from 1.4248 could still be a corrective move, or it could be the start of a long term down trend. In either case, deeper decline would be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493. In any case, break of 1.3748 resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming, or outlook will stay bearish.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral and outlook stays bearish with 1.2813 resistance intact. At this point, we’re still favoring the bearish case that consolidation pattern from 1.1946 has completed at 1.3047 already. Sustained break of 1.2614 resistance turned support should confirm our bearish view and target a test on 1.1946 low next. However, break of 1.2813 resistance will dampen our view and turn bias back to the upside for 1.3047 and above.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. Price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a consolidation pattern, which could have completed after hitting 55 week EMA. Break of 1.1946 low will target 61.8% projection of 1.5016 to 1.1946 from 1.3047 at 1.1150 next. Decisive break there will extend the larger rally to 61.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.3047 from 1.2588 at 1.3168 next. On the downside, sustained break of 1.2811 and 55 day EMA will dampen our bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 1.2588 support instead.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. While further upside is now in favor, overall outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Larger down trend from 1.7190 is expected to resume later after the correction completes. Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation below 1.3612 temporary top. As long as 4 hour 55 EMA (now at 1.3488) holds, further rally is expected.
