GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3429; (P) 1.3462; (R1) 1.3528; More

Outlook in GBP/USD remains unchanged as consolidation from 1.3351 is extending. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Upside of recovery should be limited below 1.3606 resistance to bring down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 1.3351 will extend the decline from 1.4248 to 1.3164 fibonacci level next.

In the bigger picture, the structure of the fall from 1.4248 suggests that it’s a correction to the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) only. While deeper fall cannot be ruled out yet, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, at least on first attempt, to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) will add to the case of long term bullish reversal. However, sustained trading below 1.3164 will revive some medium term bearishness and target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3158; (P) 1.3186; (R1) 1.3215; More

GBP/USD is staying in range trading and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. On the downside, break of 1.3119 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 1.2999. Firm break there will resume larger down trend from 1.4248. On the upside, above 1.3297 will resume the rebound to 55 day EMA (now at 1.3341). Sustained break there will target medium term channel resistance (now at 1.3590).

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248. Decline from 1.4248 could still be a corrective move, or it could be the start of a long term down trend. In either case, deeper decline would be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493. In any case, break of 1.3748 resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming, or outlook will stay bearish.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2863; (P) 1.2903; (R1) 1.2923; More

GBP/USD is staying in consolidation below 1.2965 temporary top. Further rally is expected as long as 1.2755 minor support holds. Break of 1.2965 will target 161.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.2614 from 1.2365 at 1.3184. At this point, price actions from 1.1946 are still interpreted as a correction pattern. Therefore, we’d expect strong resistance below 1.3444 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2755 minor support will turn bias to the downside. Further break of 1.2614 resistance turned support will now indicate near term reversal.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term reversal yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2676; (P) 1.2716; (R1) 1.2791; More

GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.2633 continues today but still, intraday bias remains neutral first. Upside is expected to be limited below 1.2977 resistance to bring fall resumption. We continue to favor the case that consolidation pattern from 1.1946 has completed at 1.3047 already. Decisive break of 1.2614 resistance turned support would confirm our bearish view and target a test on 1.1946 low next. However, break of 1.2977 will dampen our view and turn bias back to the upside for 1.3047 and above.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. Price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a consolidation pattern, which could have completed after hitting 55 week EMA. Break of 1.1946 low will target 61.8% projection of 1.5016 to 1.1946 from 1.3047 at 1.1150 next. In case the consolidation from 1.1946 extends, outlook will stay remain bearish as long as 1.3444 resistance holds.

GBP/USD is still bounded in range of 1.2346/2705 and intraday bias remains neutral. Price actions from 1.1946 are viewed as a consolidation pattern, with rise from 1.1986 as the third leg. In case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.2774 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, below 1.2346 will revive the case that such consolidation is completed at 1.2705 already. In that case, intraday bias will turn back to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term bottoming yet.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2397; (P) 1.2436; (R1) 1.2478; More

Range trading continues in GBP/USD and intraday bias stays neutral for the moment. Another rise is in favor with 1.2343 support intact. On the upside, above 1.2545 will target 1.2759 fibonacci level first. Firm break there will target 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3095. However, considering bearish divergence condition in 4H MACD, firm break of 1.2343 will confirm short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for deeper pullback.

In the bigger picture, the rise from 1.0351 medium term term bottom (2022 low) is in progress for 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will add to the case of long term bullish trend reversal. Further break of 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3095 could prompt upside acceleration to 100% projection at 1.3895. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.1801 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1509; (P) 1.1578; (R1) 1.1659; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains mildly on the upside as rebound from 1.1404 short term bottom is extending. Further rise would be seen to 55 day EMA (now at 1.1942). On the downside, below 1.1550 minor support will turn bias back to the downside. Decisive break of 1.1409 will resume larger down trend.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is probably resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Sustained break of 1.1409 will target 61.8% projection of 1.7190 (2014 high) to 1.1409 (2020 low) from 1.4248 (2021 high) at 1.0675. This will remain the favored case for now as long as 1.2292 resistance holds.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2213; (P) 1.2257; (R1) 1.2284; More

GBP/USD’s decline is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the downside at this point. Current fall from 1.3141 should target 1.2075 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 1.2369 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations. But near term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.2618 support turned resistance holds, in case of strong recovery.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top is seen as a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Strong support would be seen there to bring rebound on first attempt. However, sustained break of 1.2075 will raise the chance of bearish trend reversal and target 1.1801 structural support next.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD rose to 1.4008 last week but failed to sustain above 1.4000 resistance and retreated. Initial bias remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 1.4008 should reaffirm the bullish case that correction from 1.4240 has completed. Further rise should be seen back to retest 1.4240 high. However, break of 1.3668 will extend the correction from 1.4240 with another falling leg.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 1.1409 should still continue. Decisive break of 1.4376 resistance will carry larger bullish implications and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1409 (2020 low) at 1.5134. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 1.2675 support and below.

In the longer term picture, a long term bottom should be in place at 1.1409, on bullish convergence condition in monthly MACD. Rise from there would target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.5134. Reaction from there would reveal whether rise from 1.1409 is just a correction, or developing into a long term up trend.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3613; (P) 1.3684; (R1) 1.3726; More

With 1.3714 minor resistance intact, intraday bias in GBP/USD stays on the downside for 1.3570/3601 support zone. . Larger decline form 1.4248 is likely resuming and break of 1.3570 will target 1.3482 key support level. Sustained break there will carry larger bearish implication and target 1.3163 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 1.3714 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral again first.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, we’d still treat price actions from 1.4248 as a corrective move. That is, up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) is in favor to resume. Decisive break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) would indeed carry long term bullish implications. However, sustained break of 1.3482 will at least bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, or even further to 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3765; (P) 1.3792; (R1) 1.3848; More….

GBP/USD’s rally is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside for the moment. Current up trend from 1.1409 is in progress for 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.3482 from 1.2675 at 1.3956 next. On the downside, break of 1.3740 minor support will turn bias neutral and bring consolidations. But outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.3564 support holds.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1409 medium term bottom is in progress. Further rally would be seen to 1.4376 resistance and above. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications and open the case of long term up trend. On the downside, break of 1.2675 support is needed to indicate completion of the rise. Otherwise, outlook will stay cautiously bullish even in case of deep pullback.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD dropped sharply to as low as 1.3026 last week as decline from 1.3651 accelerated. Initial bias remains on the downside this week for 1.2773 key support first. The strong downside momentum is raising the chance of medium term reversal. Decisive break there will affirm this bearish case and bring deeper fall to retest 1.1946 low. Meanwhile, break of 1.3221 minor resistance will at least indicate near term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside for rebound.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 was strong, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the falling trend line. Outlook is turned a bit mixed and we’ll turn neutral first. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2773 key support will argue that rebound from 1.1946 has completed. The corrective structure of rise from 1.1946 to 1.3651 will in turn suggest that long term down trend is now completed. Break of 1.1946 low should then be seen. On the upside, break of 1.3835 support turned resistance will revive the case of trend reversal and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466 .

In the longer term picture, long the outlook is turned a bit mixed as GBP/USD failed to break through falling tend line resistance. We’ll turn neutral first and assess the outlook again and price actions unfold.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2507; (P) 1.2639; (R1) 1.2708; More

GBP/USD’s down trend is extending and outlook is unchanged. Intraday bias remains on the downside for 161.8% projection of 1.3641 to 1.2999 from 1.3297 at 1.2258. On the upside, above 1.2696 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidation first, before staging another decline.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248, ahead 1.4376 long term resistance (2018 high). Decline from 1.4248 could still be a corrective move, or it could be the start of a long term down trend. In either case, deeper decline would be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493. In any case, break of 1.3158 support turned resistance is needed to be the first sign of medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2849; (P) 1.2898; (R1) 1.2935; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Consolidation from 1.3514 is in progress. Further decline is mildly in favor with 1.3069 resistance intact. Break of 1.2849 will extend the corrective fall from 1.3514 to 50% retracement of 1.1958 to 1.3514 at 1.2736. However, break of 1.3069 will turn bias to the upside for 1.3209 resistance.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is not completed yet despite current pull back form 1.3514. Such rally is expected to resume later to 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2499; (P) 1.2524; (R1) 1.2567; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside for 1.2614 resistance. Break there will resume whole rise from 1.2108 and target 100% projection of 1.2108 to 1.2614 from 1.2365 at 1.2871. But overall, price actions from 1.1946 low are viewed as a consolidation pattern. We’d expect strong resistance around 55 week EMA (now at 1.3015) to limit upside and bring down trend resumption. But for now, further rise will be favored in near term as long as 1.2365 support holds.

GBP/USD Daily Chart

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2250; (P) 1.2277; (R1) 1.2313; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral at this point. Strong rebound from 55 4H EMA (now at 1.2248) will maintain near term bullishness for another rise to 38.2% retracement of 1.3141 to 1.2036 at 1.2458. However, sustained break of 4H 55 EMA will revive near term bearishness and bring retest of 1.2036 low instead.

In the bigger picture, the strong rebound from 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 argues that price action from 1.3141 are merely a correction to rise from 1.0351 (2022 low). Current rally from 1.2036 is tentatively seen as the second leg of the pattern. Hence, while further rally is in favor, upside should be limited by 1.3141 to start the third leg.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3452; (P) 1.3513; (R1) 1.3574; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. On the downside, break of 1.3428 will indicate short term topping, and turn bias to the downside for deeper pull back, to 1.3134 support next. On the upside, break of 1.3702 will resume whole rise from 1.1409 to 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.3482 from 1.2675 at 1.3956.

In the bigger picture, the break of 1.3514 structural resistance and sustained trading above 55 month EMA (now at 1.3328) should confirm medium term bottoming at 1.1409. Rise from there should now extend to 1.4376 resistance and above. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.2675 support holds.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2165; (P) 1.2184; (R1) 1.2205; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral despite current recovery. Focus is back on 1.2296 resistance. Firm break there should come with sustained trading above 4 hour 55 EMA. That would indicate completion of the choppy fall from 1.2642, and argue that rebound from 1.1409 is not completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to 1.2647 resistance. However, as long as 1.2296 resistance holds, another fall will remain mildly in favor. Break of 1.2065 will target a test on 1.1409 low.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is no indication of trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. Next medium term target will be 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.3514 at 1.0273. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 1.3514 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s corrective recovery from 1.2014 could have completed earlier than expected last week at 1.2309. Initial bias is mildly on the downside this week for retesting 1.2014. Break will resume larger down trend fro 1.1946 low. On the upside, above 1.2309 will resume the corrective rise from 1.2014. But upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 1.3381 to 1.2014 at 1.2536 to bring down trend resumption eventually.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4376 (2018 high) is extending towards 1.1946 low. We’d be cautious on bottoming there. But decisive break will resume down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) to 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

In the longer term picture, corrective rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) was rejected by 55 month EMA. Long term outlook remains bearish. Firm break of 1.1946 will indicate resumption of down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Next target is 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2624; (P) 1.2644; (R1) 1.2675; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is back on the upside with break of 1.2682. Rebound from 1.2538 would target 1.2802 resistance first. On the downside, though, below 1.2648 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg, which might still be in progress. But upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2517 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.
