GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s decline accelerated to as low as 1.2714 last week. The development confirmed completion of corrective rebound from 1.2391 at 1.3381. Larger decline from 1.4376 might be resuming. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for retesting 1.2391 low first. Break will target 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next. On the upside, On the upside, above 1.2795 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral for consolidation first before staging another decline.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) is not completed, and is possibly ready to resume. Decisive break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of rebound.

In the longer term picture, consolidative pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low) could still extend with another rising leg. But after all, decisive break of 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 at 1.5466 is needed to indicate long term reversal. Otherwise, an eventual downside breakout will remain in favor.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1969; (P) 1.2017; (R1) 1.2112; More

Focus in GBP/USD is now back on 1.2146 resistance as rebound form 1.1921 extends. Firm break there will turn bias back to the upside for 1.2269 resistance. In such case, whole corrective pattern from 1.2445 might have completed at 1.1914. Break of 1.2269 will bring retest of 1.2445/6 high.

In the bigger picture,as long as 1.1840 support holds, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low) should still continue to 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. However, decisive break of 1.1840 will complete a double top pattern (1.2445, 1.2446) after rejection by 55 week EMA (now at 1.2251). Deeper decline should be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2445 at 1.1645.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2134; (P) 1.2175; (R1) 1.2198; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the downside as fall from 1.3141 is extending. Next target is 1.2075 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 1.2306 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations. But near term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.2618 support turned resistance holds, in case of strong recovery.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top is seen as a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Strong support would be seen there to bring rebound on first attempt. However, sustained break of 1.2075 will raise the chance of bearish trend reversal and target 1.1801 structural support next.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2904; (P) 1.2946; (R1) 1.2993; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 1.2880 will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.2675 support and 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.3482 at 1.2690. On the upside, however, break of 1.3175 will resume the rebound from 1.2675 to retest 1.13482 high.

In the bigger picture, focus stays on 1.3514 key resistance. Decisive break there should also come with sustained trading above 55 month EMA (now at 1.3307). That should confirm medium term bottoming at 1.1409. Outlook will be turned bullish for 1.4376 resistance and above. Nevertheless, rejection by 1.3514 will maintain medium term bearishness for another lower below 1.1409 at a later stage.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2551; (P) 1.2640; (R1) 1.2689; More

GBP/USD’s fall from 1.3141 resumed and intraday bias is back on the downside. Next target is 61.8% projection of 1.3141 to 1.2618 from 1.2799 at 1.2476. Firm break there could prompt downside acceleration to 100% projection at 1.2276. On the upside, break of 1.2799 resistance is needed to confirm completion of the decline. Otherwise, near term outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, for now, fall from 1.3141 medium term top is seen as a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Strong support would be seen there to bring rebound on first attempt. But outlook will be neutral at best as long as 1.3141 resistance holds, and consolidation from there is set to extend, until further development.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3097; (P) 1.3140; (R1) 1.3193; More

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook. The rebound from 1.2921 should have completed at 1.3257 already. Deeper fall is in favor to 1.2921 support first. Break there will resume the fall from 1.3297 and target 1.2661/2784 support zone. On the upside, in case of another rally, we’d continue to expect strong resistance at 1.3316 key fibonacci level to bring down trend resumption eventually.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2280; (P) 1.2311; (R1) 1.2371; More

With 1.2188 minor support intact, rebound from 1.1986 could extend higher through 1.2432 resistance. But still, such rise is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946. Thus, we’d expect strong resistance at 1.2774 to limit upside and bring down trend resumption eventually. On the downside, below 1.2188 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term bottoming yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2284; (P) 1.2392; (R1) 1.2455; More..

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral first. Further decline will remain in favor as long as 1.2637 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 1.2154 will resume the down trend from 1.4248 to 200% projection of 1.3641 to 1.2999 from 1.3297 at 1.2013. However, considering bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 1.2637 will confirm short term bottoming at 1.2154. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 55 day EMA (now at 1.2796).

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) at least at the same degree as the rise from 1.1409 (2020 low). That is, fall from 1.4248 could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409, or resuming the longer term down trend. In either case, deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2999 support turned resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3370; (P) 1.3398; (R1) 1.3442; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation above 1.3351 temporary low. Upside of recovery should be limited below 1.3606 minor resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 1.3351 will extend the decline from 1.4248 to 1.3164 fibonacci level next.

In the bigger picture, the structure of the fall from 1.4248 suggests that it’s a correction to the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) only. While deeper fall cannot be ruled out yet, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, at least on first attempt, to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) will add to the case of long term bullish reversal. However, sustained trading below 1.3164 will revive some medium term bearishness and target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2085; (P) 1.2131; (R1) 1.2156; More

GBP/USD is still bounded in range above 1.2036 and intraday bias stays neutral. Downside breakout is still in favor with 1.2336 resistance intact. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2036 will resume whole decline from 1.3141 for 1.1801 support next. However, break of 1.2336 will turn bias back to the upside for 38.2% retracement of 1.3141 to 1.2036 at 1.2458.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top could still be a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) only. But risk of complete trend reversal is rising. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.1417. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 1.2384) holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3954; (P) 1.4001; (R1) 1.4045; More….

GBP/USD is staying in consolidation below 1.4144 temporary top and intraday bias remains neutral. As noted before, pull back from 1.4345 should have completed with three waves down to 1.3764. Above 1.4144 will target 1.4345 first. Break will resume larger up trend and target long term trend line resistance (now at 1.5105). On the downside, below 1.3764 will extend the correction to 1.3651 resistance turned support instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3038 support holds, medium term outlook in GBP/USD will remains bullish. Rise from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rally would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. However, GBP/USD fails to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 1.4279) so far. Break of 1.3038 support, will suggests that rise from 1.1946 has completed and will turn outlook bearish for retesting this low.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2720; (P) 1.2858; (R1) 1.2934; More

GBP/USD recovers notably after dipping to 1.2761 earlier today. But for now, further decline is in favor as long as 1.2994 resistance holds. Fall from 1.3141 would target 55 D EMA (now at 1.2718) and possibly below. On the upside, break of 1.2994 resistance will argue that the pull back has completed, and bring retest of 1.3141 high.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.2678 resistance turned support holds, rise from 1.0351 (2022 low) is expected to continue. Next target is 100% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3895. However, sustained break of 1.2678 will argue that it’s at least correcting this rally, with risk of bearish reversal.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3256; (P) 1.3347; (R1) 1.3468; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point first. We’re holding on to the view that a short term top was formed at 1.3539, and deeper fall is in favor. Break of 1.3223 will target 55 day EMA (now at 1.3163) first. Sustained break there will confirm another rejection by 1.3514 key resistance. Deeper fall should be seen back to 1.2675 support next. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 1.3539 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, focus stays on 1.3514 key resistance. Decisive break there should also come with sustained trading above 55 month EMA (now at 1.3308).

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3150; (P) 1.3240; (R1) 1.3297; More

GBP/USD retreated after forming a temporary top at 1.3328. Intraday bias is turned neutral first. Outlook outlook is unchanged. Another rise could be seen in GBP/USD and above 1.3328 will target 1.3444 key resistance next. At this point, we’d maintain that price actions from 1.1946 are still seen as a corrective pattern. Hence, we’d expect strong resistance from 1.3444 to limit upside to bring larger down trend reversal eventually. Firm break of 38.2% retracement of 1.2773 to 1.3328 at 1.3116 will raise the chance of reversal and turn bias to the downside for 61.8% retracement at 1.2985. However, on the upside, firm break of 1.3444 will carry larger bullish implication and target 1.3835/5016 resistance first zone first.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern. While further rise cannot be ruled out, larger outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Down trend from 1.7190 (2014 high) is expected to resume later after the correction completes. And break of 1.2773 support will be the first sign that such down trend is resuming. However, considering bullish convergence condition in monthly MACD, firm break of 1.3444 will argue that whole down trend from 2.1161 (2007) has completed. And stronger rise would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1946 at 1.5466.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2662; (P) 1.2697; (R1) 1.2730; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment, and more consolidations could be seen below 1.2731. For now, further rally is in favor as long as 1.2426 resistance turned support holds. On the upside, sustained trading above 61.8% retracement of 1.3141 to 1.2036 at 1.2716 will pave the way to retest 1.3141 high.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 (2022 low). Strong rebound from 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 suggests that current rise from 1.2036 is already the second leg. However, while further rally could be seen, upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1495; (P) 1.1567; (R1) 1.1703; More

GBP/USD’s rally is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside. Break of 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.1494 from 1.0922 at 1.1628 will extend the rise from 1.0351 to 100% projection at 1.2065. On the downside, below 1.1429 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. But further rally will remain in favor as long as 1.0922 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is part of the long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.1759 support turned resistance holds. Parity would be the next target on resumption. Nevertheless, firm break of 1.1759 will confirm medium term bottoming, and open up stronger rise back to 55 week EMA (now at 1.2392).

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2442; (P) 1.2481; (R1) 1.2523; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Overall outlook remains unchanged. Price actions from 1.1946 are viewed as a consolidation pattern, with rise from 1.1986 as the third leg. In case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.2774 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, below 1.2346 will revive the case that such consolidation is completed at 1.2705 already. In that case, intraday bias will turn back to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

GBP/USD is staying in range above 1.2595 support and intraday bias remains neutral. On the downside, firm break of 1.2595 will resume the decline from 1.2826 to 1.2499 support. Nevertheless, strong rebound from current level will retain near term bullishness. Decisive break of 1.2826 will resume whole rally from 1.2036.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg that’s in progress. Upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2499 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2435; (P) 1.2517; (R1) 1.2570; More

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2459; (P) 1.2494; (R1) 1.2529; More

GBP/USD weakens slightly today but stays above 1.2443. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point and more consolidation could still be seen. In case of another recovery, upside should be limited by 1.2618 support turned resistance to bring another fall. Break of 1.2443 will resume the decline from 1.3141 and target 100% projection of 1.3141 to 1.2618 from 1.2799 at 1.2276.

But outlook will be neutral at best as long as 1.3141 resistance holds, and consolidation from there is set to extend, until further development.
