GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2946; (P) 1.2999; (R1) 1.3047; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the downside for 1.2932 support first. Price actions from 1.1946 are seen as a corrective pattern, no change is this view. Such correction could have completed at 1.3267 already. Break of 1.2932 will affirm this bearish case and target 1.2588 key near term support for confirmation. On the upside, however, above 1.3058 minor resistance will turn bias neutral first. But deeper fall is expected as long as 1.3267 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. While further upside is expected, larger outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Down trend from 1.7190 (2014 high) is expected to resume later after the correction completes. And break of 1.2588 will indicate that such down trend is resuming.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg that’s in progress. Upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2499 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2857; (P) 1.2908; (R1) 1.2934; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the downside at this point. Corrective fall from 1.3514 should target 61.8% projection of 1.3514 to 1.2905 from 1.3209 at 1.2833 first. Break will target 100% projection at 1.2600 next. On the upside, above 1.2959 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But further decline is expected as long as 1.3209 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is not completed yet despite current pull back form 1.3514. Such rally is expected to resume later to 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook and intraday bias stays on the upside. Firm break of 1.2708 resistance will extend the rise from 1.2298 to 100% projection of 1.2298 to 1.2633 from 1.2445 at 1.2780. On the downside, below 1.2642 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again. But further rise will now remain in favor as long as 1.2445 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern. Fall from 1.2892 is seen as the third leg which might have completed already. Break of 1.2892 resistance will argue that larger up trend from 1.0351(2022 low) is ready to resume through 1.3141. Meanwhile, break of 1.2298 support will extend the corrective pattern instead.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Further break there will resume larger down trend from 1.4248. However, firm break of 1.3485 will dampen this bearish view and turn bias back to the upside for 1.3641 resistance.

In the bigger picture, as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164 holds, up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) is still in progress. On resumption, next target will be 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.5134. Nevertheless sustained break of 1.3164 will argue that whole rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

Decisive break of 1.4376 resistance will carry larger bullish implications and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1409 (2020 low) at 1.5134. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 1.2675 support and below.

Though, break of 1.2747 resistance will confirm short term bottoming and bring stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) is possibly ready to resume. Decisive break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3539; (P) 1.3618; (R1) 1.3665; More

GBP/USD’s fall from 1.2892 resumed accelerated to as low as 1.2425 last week. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 100% projection of 1.2892 to 1.2538 from 1.2708 at 1.2354. Firm break there will target 161.8% projection at 1.2207 next. On the upside, above 1.2510 minor resistance will turn bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another decline.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Fall from 1.2892 is seen as the third leg. Deeper decline would be seen to 1.2036 support and possibly below. But strong support should emerge from 61.8% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2452 at 1.1417 to complete the correction.

In the long term picture, a long term bottom should be in place at 1.0351 on bullish convergence condition in M MACD. But momentum of the rebound from 1.3051 argues GBP/USD is merely in consolidation, rather than trend reversal. Range trading is likely between 1.0351/4248 for some more time.

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook and intraday bias remains neutral first. Corrective rebound from 1.2506 could still extend. But upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 1.3381 to 1.2506 at 1.2840. On the downside, break of 1.2642 minor support will turn intraday bias back to retest 1.2506 low. Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. Rise from 1.1986 is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946. Break of 1.2414 minor support will argue that it’s completed and turn bias to the downside for 1.1946 low. GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1425; (P) 1.1495; (R1) 1.1553; More

GBP/USD is staying in consolidation from 1.1664 and intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. With 1.1256 minor support intact, further rally is expected. On the upside, break of 1.1644 will resume rise from 1.0351 to 100% projection of 1.0351 to 1.1494 from 1.0922 at 1.2065. However, break of 1.1256 will turn bias back to the downside for 1.0922 support and below.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is part of the long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.1759 support turned resistance holds. Parity would be the next target on resumption. Nevertheless, firm break of 1.1759 will confirm medium term bottoming, and open up stronger rise back to 55 week EMA (now at 1.2392).

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2937; (P) 1.2978; (R1) 1.3041; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Overall, consolidation from 1.3514 is still in progress and further decline is in favor as long as 1.3069 resistance holds. Break of 1.2849 will extend the corrective fall from 1.3514 to 50% retracement of 1.1958 to 1.3514 at 1.2736. However, break of 1.3069 will turn bias to the upside for 1.3209 resistance.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD edged higher to 1.3267 last week but quickly retreated. Initial bias is neutral this week first. Further rise is mildly in favor as long as 1.3005 support holds. Firm break of 100% projection of 1.1409 to 1.2647 from 1.2065 at 1.3303 will pave the way to 1.3514 structural resistance next. However, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 1.3006 should confirm short term topping. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 1.2817).

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is not enough evidence for trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. However, decisive break of 1.3514 should at least confirm medium term bottoming and turn outlook bullish for 1.4376 resistance first.

In the longer term picture, long term outlook remains clearly bearish, as it’s held well below long term falling trend line that started back at 2116 (2007 high). Prior rejections by 55 month EMA also affirmed bearishness. Further fall is expected as long as 1.3514 resistance holds.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2673; (P) 1.2727; (R1) 1.2754; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment, and some consolidations would be seen below 1.2799 temporary top. But further rise is expected as long as 1.2670 support holds. Current rally from 1.2298 should target 1.2892 resistance next. However, break of 1.2670 will indicate short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for deeper pullback.

Meanwhile, break of 1.2445 support will extend the corrective pattern with another decline instead.
