GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2832; (P) 1.2915; (R1) 1.2963; More

GBP/USD’s break of 1.2921 confirms resumption of fall from 1.3297. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 1.2661/2784 support zone. Price actions from 1.2661 are viewed as a corrective move. Decisive break of 1.2661 will resume larger down trend from 1.4376. On the upside, break of 1.3044 minor resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain mildly bearish even in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

GBP/USD’s rally from 1.2036 resumed by breaking through 1.2793 resistance. Intraday bias is back on the upside. Next target is 61.8% projection of 1.2068 to 1.2731 from 1.2499 at 1.2909. On the downside, below 1.2698 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again. But further rally will remain in favor as long as 1.2499 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg that’s in progress. Upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2499 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1827; (P) 1.1932; (R1) 1.1998; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the downside for the moment. Current down trend should target 100% projection of 1.2666 to 1.1932 from 1.2405 at 1.1671. Decisive break there will target a test on 1.1409 long term support. On the upside, above 1.2055 minor resistance will now indicate short term bottoming, and turn bias to the upside for stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409 (2020 low), or resuming the longer term down trend. Deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2666 resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low. However, firm break of 1.2666 will bring stronger rise back to 55 week EMA (now at 1.3065).

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409 (2020 low), or resuming the longer term down trend. Deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2999 support turned resistance holds. On resumption, next target is 1.1409 low.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral at this point. Also, near term outlook remains bearish with 1.2814 resistance intact. On the downside, below 1.2615 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.2391 first. Break will extend the down trend from 1.4376 and target 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2661 from 1.3174 at 1.2114 next. However, firm break of 1.2814 resistance will be an early sign of trend reversal and bring stronger rebound back to 1.3174 resistance next.

And this will now remain the preferred case as long as 1.3174 structural resistance holds. GBP/USD should target a test on 1.1946 first. Decisive break there will confirm our bearish view.

Outlook is unchanged in GBP/USD and intraday bias remains neutral. On the downside, firm break of 1.3164 medium term fibonacci level will carry larger bearish implication. On the upside, , break of 1.3372 will resume the rise from 1.3158 to 55 day EMA (now at 1.3436).

In the bigger picture, focus remains on 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164. Sustained break there will argue that whole rise from 1.1409 has completed at 1.4248, after rejection by 1.4376 long term resistance. That will revive some medium term bearishness and and target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493. However, strong rebound from current level will revive argue that up trend from 1.1409 is still in progress, and probably ready to resume.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3064; (P) 1.3116; (R1) 1.3168; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Risk stays on the downside as long as 1.3297 resistance holds. The corrective rise from 1.2661 could have completed at 1.3297, ahead of 1.3316 key fibonacci level. On the downside, break of 1.3042 resistance turned support will bring deeper fall to 1.2784. Break there will argue that larger down trend from 1.4376 is resuming for a new low below 1.2661.

GBP/USD is staying in the correction from 1.3549 and intraday bias stays neutral for the moment. As long as 1.3220 support holds, we’d favor another rise. Break of 1.3549 will target 1.3651 high next. Break there will resume medium term rally from 1.1946. However, firm break of 1.3220 will turn near term outlook bearish for 1.3038 key support level.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 low was strong, it’s limited below 1.3835 key support turned resistance. As long as 1.3835 holds, we’d view such rebound as a correction. That is, we’d expect another leg in the long term down trend through 1.1946 low. However, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

GBP/USD’s recovery from 1.2306 extends higher today but stays below 1.2468 minor resistance. Intraday bias remains neutral first and further decline is in favor. Break of 1.2306 will resume the fall from 1.2678, as correcting whole up trend from 1.0351, to 1.1801 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2678 at 1.1789). On the upside, however, firm break of 1.2468 will turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.1801 support holds, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low) is expected to extend further. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759 will add to the case of long term bullish trend reversal. However, firm break of 1.1801 will indicate rejection by 1.2759, and bring deeper decline, even as a correction.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3088; (P) 1.3159; (R1) 1.3259; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as it’s still bounded in range of 1.3038/3337. In case of another recovery, upside should be limited below 1.3337 resistance to bring fall resumption. Break of 1.3038 will now resume decline from 1.3651 to 1.2773 key support level. However, decisive break of 1.3337 will indicate that pull back from 1.3651 is completed and medium term rise from 1.1946 is resuming.

In the bigger picture, as noted before, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Current development is starting to favor that corrective rebound from 1.1946 low has completed at 1.3651. Decisive break of 1.2773 will confirm this bearish case and target a test on 1.1946 low next, with prospect of resuming the low term down trend. Nonetheless, break of 1.3320 resistance will restore the rise from 1.1946 for 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 1.3012 minor support will suggest rejection by 1.3174 key resistance, and turn bias to the downside for 1.2814 support. On the upside, sustained break of 1.3174 key resistance will argue that whole decline from 1.4376 has completed at 1.2391. In such case, further rise should then be seen to 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1946 (2016 low) to 1.4376 (2018 high) is seen as a corrective move. Similarly, fall from 1.4376 to 1.2391 also displace a corrective structure. Current development suggests that rise from 1.2391 is the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.1946 and could extend beyond 1.4376 high. Firm break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 will affirm this case. On the downside, break of 55 day EMA (now at 1.2865) will turn focus back to 1.2391 low instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248. This will remain the favored case as long as 55 day EMA (now at 1.1900) holds.

In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.
