GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s strong rebound and break of 1.3174 resistance last week suggests that sideway pattern from 1.3284 has completed at 1.2977. Initial bias is back on the upside this week for 1.3284 first. Break will target 1.5314 high. On the downside, break of 1.3139 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is expected to extend higher to retest 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

In the longer term picture, it’s still unsure whether long term down trend form 2.1161 (2007 high) has completed at 1.1946 already. Focus is immediately on 55 month EMA (now at 1.3507) and sustained break will be the first serious sign of long term reversal. Further break of trend line resistance (now at 1.4045) will be another signal. Focus would then be turned to 1.4376 key resistance for confirmation.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1924; (P) 1.2019; (R1) 1.2129; More

GBP/USD’s rally from 1.1801 is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside. The corrective pattern from 1.2445 should have completed with three waves to 1.1801. Break of 1.2142 will bring retest of 1.2445/6 resistance zone. On the downside, below 1.2008 minor support will delay the bullish case and turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, price action from 1.2445 are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low). Resumption is expected as a later stage and firm break of 1.2446 will target 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. This will remain the favored case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2445 at 1.1645 holds.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3878; (P) 1.3944; (R1) 1.3991; More….

GBP/USD falls to as low as 1.3849 so far today and intraday bias remains on the downside. Current fall from 1.4248 is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.4240. Deeper decline would be seen to 1.3668 support. On the upside, above 1.3944 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring recovery first, before staging another decline.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 1.1409 should still continue. Decisive break of 1.4376 resistance will carry larger bullish implications and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1409 (2020 low) at 1.5134. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 1.2675 support and below.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2580; (P) 1.2610; (R1) 1.2640; More….

GBP/USD’s decline is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the downside. Current fall from 1.3381 should target 1.2391 low first. Firm break there will resume larger down trend to 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next. On the upside, break of 1.2747 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) is not completed, and is possibly ready to resume. Decisive break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2615; (P) 1.2649; (R1) 1.2694; More….

A temporary low is in place at 1.2605 with today’s recovery. Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral for some consolidations. Upside should be limited by 1.2865 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2605 will extend the fall from 1.3381 to 1.2391 low. Larger decline from 1.4376 might be resuming. Break of 1.2391 will target 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next.

In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2099; (P) 1.2143; (R1) 1.2185; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as consolidation from 1.2079 continues. In case of stronger recovery, upside should be limited by 1.2382 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2079 will target 1.1946 low. Break will target 100% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.1396.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4376 (2018 high) is extending towards 1.1946 low. We’d be cautious on bottoming there. But decisive break will resume down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) to 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.4128; (P) 1.4155; (R1) 1.4199; More

GBP/USD is still bounded in tight range and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. With 1.4090 support intact, further rise is still expected. On the upside, sustained break of 1.4240 will resume larger up trend from 1.1409. Next target is 1.4376 long term resistance. On the downside, however, break of 1.4090 support will extend the consolidation from 1.4240 with another falling leg. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.4008 resistance turned support first.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3001; (P) 1.3051; (R1) 1.3091; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation above 1.2999 temporary top. Overall, near term outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3216 resistance holds. On the downside, below 1.2999 will target 1.2784 support first. Break there will likely resume larger down trend from 1.4376 through 1.2661. However, break of 1.3216 will dampen our bearish view and turn focus back to 1.3316 key fibonacci resistance.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4062). The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD stayed in consolidation above 1.2476 last week and outlook is unchanged. As such consolidation in in progress, intraday bias remains neutral first. Upside of recovery should be limited by 1.2811 resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2476 will extend larger down trend from 1.4376 to 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2661 from 1.3174 at 1.2114. However, firm break of 1.2811 will be an early signal of trend reversal and turn focus back to 1.3174 resistance.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). And this will now remain the preferred case as long as 1.3174 structural resistance holds. GBP/USD should now target a test on 1.1946 first. Decisive break there will confirm our bearish view.

In the longer term picture, outlook in GBP/USD remains bearish. Rebound from 1.1946 was rejected solidly by falling 55 month EMA. The pair was limited well below 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946, as well as the decade long falling trend line. On break of 1.1946, next target will be 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2803; (P) 1.2837; (R1) 1.2905; More

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook at this point. Intraday bias stays neutral first. Further decline is expected with 1.3108 resistance intact. Sustained break of 1.2736 will extend the corrective fall from 1.3514 to 61.8% retracement at 1.2552. We’d look for strong support from there to bring rebound. Break of 1.3018 will indicate short term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside instead.

In the bigger picture, current decline from 1.3514 is seen as corrective the rally form 1.1958. Such rally is expected to resume latter to 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. However, sustained break of 1.2582 resistance turned support will dampen these views and bring retest of 1.1958 low instead.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s rise from 1.37111 resumed last week and reached as high as 1.4295. Initial bias stays on the upside this week for 1.4345 high first. Firm break there will resume medium term rally and target 61.8% projection of 1.3038 to 1.4345 from 1.3711 at 1.4519 next. On the downside, below 1.4220 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again. But retreat should be contained well above 1.3964 support to bring another rally.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3651 resistance turned support holds, medium term outlook in GBP/USD will remain bullish. Rise from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down trend from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rally would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. However, GBP/USD fails to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 1.4267) so far. Break of 1.3651 will be the first sign of medium term reversal and turn focus to 1.3038 support for confirmation.

In the longer term picture, rise from 1.1946 should at least be correcting the whole long term down trend from 2.1161 and should target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. It too early to tell if it’s developing into a long term up trend. We’ll monitor the upside momentum and reaction to 1.5466 to decide later.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD rebounded after dipping to 1.0922 but failed to break through 1.1494 resistance. Initial bias is neutral this week first. On the upside, break of 1.1494 will resume the rise from 1.0351 to 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.1494 from 1.0922 at 1.1628. On the downside, below 1.0922 will turn bias back to the downside for 1.0351 low instead.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Next target is 100% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 0.9532. There is no scope of a medium term rebound as long as 1.1759 support turned resistance holds.

In the longer term picture, long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007) high is still in progress. Next target is 100% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 0.9532.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. Further rally is in favor with 1.2471 support intact. On the upside, above 1.2633 will resume the rebound from 1.2298 to 1.2708 resistance next. However, firm break of firm break of 1.2471 will indicate that this rebound has completed, and revive near term bearishness. Retest of 1.2298 should then be seen in this case.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern. Fall from 1.2892 is seen as the third leg which might have completed already. Break of 1.2892 resistance will argue that larger up trend from 1.0351(2022 low) is ready to resume through 1.3141. Meanwhile, break of 1.2298 support will extend the corrective pattern instead.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2697; (P) 1.2746; (R1) 1.2803; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Also, near term outlook stays bearish with 1.2977 resistance intact. We continue to favor the case that consolidation pattern from 1.1946 has completed at 1.3047 already. Decisive break of 1.2614 resistance turned support would confirm our bearish view and target a test on 1.1946 low next. However, break of 1.2977 will dampen our view and turn bias back to the upside for 1.3047 and above.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. Price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a consolidation pattern, which could have completed after hitting 55 week EMA. Break of 1.1946 low will target 61.8% projection of 1.5016 to 1.1946 from 1.3047 at 1.1150 next. In case the consolidation from 1.1946 extends, outlook will stay remain bearish as long as 1.3444 resistance holds.

Bias will be turned back to the upside for 1.2405 resistance next. On the downside, below 1.1759 will resume larger down trend to 100% projection of 1.2666 to 1.1932 from 1.2405 at 1.1671.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409 (2020 low), or resuming the longer term down trend. Deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2666 resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low. However, firm break of 1.2666 will bring stronger rise back to 55 week EMA (now at 1.3065).

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1996; (P) 1.2051; (R1) 1.2143; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. We’d stay cautious on bottoming around 1.1946. But break of 1.2309 is needed to confirm short term bottoming. Otherwise, further decline remains in favor. On the downside, decisive break of 1.1946 will target 61.8% projection of 1.2783 to 1.2014 from 1.2309 at 1.1834. However, sustained break of 1.2309 will turn near term outlook bullish for 1.2783 resistance next.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3138; (P) 1.3177; (R1) 1.3220; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation below 1.3215 temporary top. In case of deeper retreat, downside should be contained well above 1.2827 support to bring rise resumption. On the upside, break of 1.3215 will resume the rise from 1.1958 to 1.3381 resistance next.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is seen as the third leg of consolidation from 1.1946. Further rise would be seen back towards 1.4376 resistance. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds. However, firm break of 1.2582 will turn focus back to 1.1946 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3738; (P) 1.3784; (R1) 1.3811; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point, as consolidation from 1.3838 is still extending. Further rise is expected with 1.3646 support intact. On the upside, above 1.3833 will target 1.3912 key structural resistance. Firm break there will indicate that the correction from 1.4248 is complete with three waves down to 1.3410. Further rally would then be seen to retest 1.4248 high. However, break of 1.3646 will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.3410 low.

In the bigger picture, the structure of the fall from 1.4248 suggests that it’s a correction to the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) only. While deeper fall cannot be ruled out yet, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, at least on first attempt, to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) will add to the case of long term bullish reversal. However, sustained trading below 1.3164 will revive some medium term bearishness and target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2320; (P) 1.2368; (R1) 1.2400; More

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as it’s still struggling in tight range. On the downside, firm break of 1.2252 minor support will turn bias to the downside, and extend the corrective pattern from 1.2445 with another falling leg. On the upside, decisive break of 1.2445 will confirm resumption of whole rise from 1.0351. Next target will be 1.2759 fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s down trend extended to as low as 1.2410 last week. A temporary low was formed there and initial bias is neutral this week for consolidation. Upside of recovery should be limited below 1.2999 support turned resistance. On the downside, break of 1.2410 will target 161.8% projection of 1.3641 to 1.2999 from 1.3297 at 1.2258.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248, ahead of 1.4376 long term resistance (2018 high). Based on current momentum, fall from 1.4248 is probably the start of a long term down trend. The break of 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493 is affirming this bearish case too. For now, deeper decline would be seen as long as 1.3158 support turned resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low.

In the longer term picture, rebound from 1.1409 long term bottom could have completed at 1.4248 already, well ahead of 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.5134. The development argues that price actions from 1.1409 are developing into a corrective pattern only. That is, long term bearishness is retained for resuming the downside from 2.1161 (2007 high) at a later stage.
