GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3074; (P) 1.3109; (R1) 1.3137; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for some consolidations. But upside of recovery should be limited by 1.3270 support turned resistance. On the downside, sustained break of 61.8% projection of 1.4248 to 1.3158 from 1.3748 at 1.3074 will extend the down trend from 1.4248 to 100% projection at 1.2658.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248. Decline from 1.4248 could still be a corrective move, or it could be the start of a long term down trend. In either case, deeper decline would now be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493. In case, break of 1.3748 resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming, or outlook will stay bearish.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2288; (P) 1.2327; (R1) 1.2371; More….

GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.1958 resumed after brief consolidations. Intraday bias is turned back to the upside for 38.2% retracement of 1.3381 to 1.1958 at 1.2502 first. Break will target 61.8% retracement at 1.2837. On the downside, however, break of 1.2283 minor support will suggest that the rebound is completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for retesting 1.1958 low.

In the bigger picture, we’d remain cautious on medium term bottoming around 1.1946 (2016 low). Sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 1.2779) will extend the consolidation pattern from 1.1946 with another rise to 1.4376 resistance. Nevertheless, decisive break of 1.1946 will resume down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) to 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3221; (P) 1.3246; (R1) 1.3294; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment as range trading continues inside 1.3158/3373. On the downside, firm break of 1.3164 medium term fibonacci level will carry larger bearish implication. Fall from 1.4248 should resume and target 161.8% projection of 1.4248 to 1.3570 from 1.3833 at 1.2736. On the upside, break of 1.3372 will resume the rise from 1.3158 to 55 day EMA (now at 1.3423) and above.

In the bigger picture, focus remains on 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164. Sustained break there will argue that whole rise from 1.1409 has completed at 1.4248, after rejection by 1.4376 long term resistance. That will revive some medium term bearishness and and target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493. However, strong rebound from current level will revive argue that up trend from 1.1409 is still in progress, and probably ready to resume.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD rose to 1.2203 last week but turned sideway since then. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Corrective pattern from 1.2445 could have completed with three waves to 1.1801 already. On the upside, above 1.2203 will resume the rally from 1.2445/6 resistance zone next. However, decisive break of 4 hour 55 EMA (now at 1.2065) will argue that the pattern from 1.2445 is extending with another falling leg, and turn bias to the downside for 1.1801 again.

In the bigger picture, price action from 1.2445 are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low). Resumption is expected as a later stage and firm break of 1.2446 will target 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. This will remain the favored case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2445 at 1.1645 holds.

In the long term picture, as long as 1.4248 resistance holds (2021 high), long term outlook will remain neutral at best. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007) could still resume for another low through 1.0351 at a later stage.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2666; (P) 1.2712; (R1) 1.2748; More…

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as consolidation from 1.2826 is still extending. Another fall cannot be ruled out, but downside should be contained above 1.2499 support to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 1.2784 resistance will suggest that consolidation pattern has completed. Further rise should be seen through 1.2826 to resume the rally from 1.2036. Next target will be 1.3141 high.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg that’s in progress. Upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2499 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/.USD’s pull back from 1.3748 extended lower last week but outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week for more consolidative trading. but downside of retreat should be contained by 1.3489 support to bring another rally. As noted before, corrective fall from 1.4282 should have completed with three waves down to 1.3158, after hitting 1.3164 medium term fibonacci level. Above 1.3748 will target 1.3833 first. Sustained break of 1.3833 will pave the way back to retest 1.4248 high.

In the bigger picture, strong support was seen from 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164. The development suggests that up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) is still in progress. On resumption, next target will be 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.5134. Nevertheless sustained break of 1.3164 will argue that whole rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

In the longer term picture, a long term bottom should be in place at 1.1409, on bullish convergence condition in monthly MACD. Rise from there would target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.5134. Reaction from there would reveal whether rise from 1.1409 is just a correction, or developing into a long term up trend.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2974; (P) 1.3031; (R1) 1.3089; More

At this point, further rise is still expected in GBP/USD with 1.2896 minor support intact. Rebound from 1.2661 could target 00% projection of 1.2661 to 1.3042 from 1.2784 at 1.3165, and possibly above. However, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.3316 key fibonacci level to complete the corrective rise and bring near term reversal. On the downside, break of 1.2896 minor support will now argue that rebound from 1.2661 has completed. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.2784 and then 1.2661.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4099). The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2108; (P) 1.2138; (R1) 1.2164; More

A temporary low should be in place at 1.2109 in GBP/USD and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Some consolidations could be seen, and stronger recovery cannot be ruled out. But near term risk will stay on the downside as long as 1.2618 support turned resistance holds. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2075 fibonacci level would carry larger bearish implication and target 1.1801 support next.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top could still be a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) only. But risk of complete trend reversal is rising. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.1417. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 1.2526) holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1857; (P) 1.1898; (R1) 1.1964; More

GBP/USD’s break of 1.1914 support turned resistance indicates short term bottoming at 1.1801, after breaching 1.1840 support. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 55 day EMA (now at 1.2052). Sustained break there will bring retest of 1.2446 high. On the downside, however, break of 1.1801 will resume the decline to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2446 at 1.1646.

In the bigger picture, the failure to sustain below 1.1840 support argues that price actions from 1.2445 are merely a consolidation pattern. That is rise from 1.0351 is not over yet. Break of 1.2446 will target 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. However, decisive break of 1.1840 will bring deeper correction to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2446 at 1.1646, or even further to 61.8% retracement at 1.1151.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2662; (P) 1.2699; (R1) 1.2733; More….

GBP/USD breached 1.2642 minor support but quickly recovered. Intraday bias stays neutral first. On the downside, firm break of 1.2642 will confirm completion of corrective rebound from 1.2506. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for retesting 1.2506 low. In case of another rise, upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 1.3381 to 1.2506 at 1.2840 to complete the corrective rise from 1.2506. However, sustained break of 1.2840 will bring stronger rise to 61.8% retracement at 1.3047 next.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4376 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence, focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.0706; (P) 1.0990; (R1) 1.1140; More

Break of 1.0844 minor resistance suggests that a temporary low is formed at 1.0351, ahead of 100% projection of 1.3748 to 1.1759 from 1.2292 at 1.0303. Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral for some consolidations. But risk will stay on the downside as long as 1.1404 support turned resistance holds. Sustained break of 1.0303 will pave the way to parity.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Next target is 100% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 0.9532. There is no scope of a medium term rebound as long as 1.1759 support turned resistance holds.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2904; (P) 1.2969; (R1) 1.3092; More

GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.2661 extended to as high as 1.3038 so far and intraday bias stays on the upside. Current development suggests medium term bottoming at 1.2661, on bullish convergence condition in daily MACD. Further rise should be seen to 55 day EMA (now at 1.3058) and then 1.3212 resistance. For now, we’d expect strong resistance from 1.3316 fibonacci level to limit upside, at least on first attempt. On the downside, break of 1.2844 support will argue that the rebound is completed and bring retest of 1.2661 low.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4091).

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2956; (P) 1.3003; (R1) 1.3081; More….

GBP/USD’s rise from 1.2865 is in progress and intraday bias remains on the upside. Current development suggests that corrective pull back from 1.3381 has completed at 1.2865. Also, with 1.2773 key support intact, near term bullishness is retained. Further rise should be seen back to retest 1.3381 first. Break will resume whole rebound from 1.2391. On the downside, though, break of 1.2865 will target 1.2773 key support.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) halted after hitting 1.2391. The structure of the rebound from 1.2391 suggests that it’s a corrective move. In case of another rise, strong resistance could be seen around 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 to limit upside. On the downside, break of 1.2773 support will suggests that such corrective rise is completed and bring retest of 1.2391 low first.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2453; (P) 1.2488; (R1) 1.2522; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as range trading continues. Price actions from 1.1946 are viewed as a consolidation pattern, with rise from 1.1986 as the third leg. In case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.2774 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, below 1.2346 will revive the case that such consolidation is completed at 1.2705 already. In that case, intraday bias will turn back to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term bottoming yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD rise from 1.0351 continued last week and met target of 100% projection of 1.0351 to 1.1494 from 1.1145 at 1.2288. Further rally is expected as long as 1.1898 support holds. Sustained trading above 1.2288 will target 1.2759 medium term fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248.

In the longer term picture, as long as 1.4248 resistance holds (2021 high), long term outlook will remain neutral at best. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007) could still resume for another low through 1.0351 at a later stage.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3541; (P) 1.3572; (R1) 1.3612; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is back on the upside as rise from 1.3158 extends, despite weak upside momentum. Corrective fall from 1.4248 could have completed with three waves down to 1.3158, after hitting 1.3164 medium term fibonacci level. Sustained trading above 1.3570 will pave the way to 1.3833 resistance next. On the downside, however, break of 1.3430 will dampen this bullish case and turn bias back to the downside for 1.3158 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3089; (P) 1.3125; (R1) 1.3177; More

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as corrective pattern from 1.2956 is extending. Intraday bias remains neutral. Stronger rise cannot be ruled out. But upside should be limited below 1.3362 resistance to bring fall resumption eventually. On the downside, break of 1.2956 will resume the decline from 1.4376 to 1.2874 fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4179). Fall from 1.4376 should extend to 61.8% retracement of 1.1946 (2016 low) to 1.4376 at 1.2874 next. Decisive break of 1.2874 will raise the chance of long term down trend resumption through 1.1946 low. On the upside, break of 1.3362 resistance is needed to be the first indication of medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish even in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3004; (P) 1.3057; (R1) 1.3101; More….

GBP/USD’s recovery lost momentum after hitting 1.3109. Intraday bias is turned neutral first. Above 1.3109 will target 1.3174/3217 resistance zone. Decisive break there will complete a head and shoulder bottom pattern (ls: 1.2661, h: 1.2391, rs: 1.2773). That would indicate bullish reversal for 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 next. On the downside, break of 1.2935 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2773 instead.

In the bigger picture, focus is back on 1.3174 resistance with current rebound. Break will indicate completion of decline from 1.4376. Rise from 1.2391 would then be seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low). In that case, further rise could be seen through 1.4376 resistance. Nevertheless, rejection by 1.3174 again will extend the decline from 1.4376 through 1.2391 to 1.1946 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1411; (P) 1.1574; (R1) 1.1657; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is mildly on the downside for retesting 1.1404/9 support zone. Decisive break there will resume larger down trend. On the upside, above 1.1737 minor resistance will resume the rebound from 1.1404 to 55 day EMA (now at 1.1917).

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is probably resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Sustained break of 1.1409 will target 61.8% projection of 1.7190 (2014 high) to 1.1409 (2020 low) from 1.4248 (2021 high) at 1.0675. This will remain the favored case for now as long as 1.2292 resistance holds.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD edged higher to 1.3758 last week but lost momentum quickly and turn sideway again. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. On the upside, break of 1.3758 will extend the whole up trend from 1.1409 to 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.3482 from 1.2675 at 1.3956 next. On the downside, however, break of 1.3608 support will now suggest short term topping, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1409 medium term bottom is in progress. Further rally would be seen to 1.4376 resistance and above. On the downside, break of 1.2675 support is needed to indicate completion of the rise. Otherwise, outlook will stay cautiously bullish even in case of deep pullback.
