GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2434; (P) 1.2470; (R1) 1.2517; More

GBP/USD’s rise from 1.2108 is still in progress. Intraday bias remains on the upside for 1.2569 resistance first. Break there will target 1.2705/74 resistance zone. But still, price actions from 1.1946 are seen as a consolidation pattern. Hence, we’d expect strong resistance from 1.2705/2774 to limit upside and bring down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2340 support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2108 support. Though, sustained break of 1.2774 will extend the rise towards 1.3444 key resistance level.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term bottoming yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

GBP/USD’s fall from 1.2774 resumed again by taking out 1.2036 and reaches as low as 1.1986 so far. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 1.1946 support. Decisive break there will confirm larger down trend resumption. Next near term target is 61.8% projection of 1.3444 to 1.1946 from 1.2774 at 1.1848 and then 100% projection at 1.1276. On the upside, break of 1.2342 resistance will invalidate our bearish view and extend the consolidation from 1.1946 with another rise before down trend resumption.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2295; (P) 1.2337; (R1) 1.2415; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains mildly on the upside as rebound from 1.1986 continues. But still, such rise is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946. Thus, we’d expect strong resistance at 1.2774 to limit upside and bring down trend resumption eventually. On the downside, below 1.2188 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2442; (P) 1.2481; (R1) 1.2523; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Overall outlook remains unchanged. Price actions from 1.1946 are viewed as a consolidation pattern, with rise from 1.1986 as the third leg. In case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.2774 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, below 1.2346 will revive the case that such consolidation is completed at 1.2705 already. In that case, intraday bias will turn back to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3350; (P) 1.3370; (R1) 1.3392; More…..

The correction from 1.3549 is still extending and intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral. As long as 1.3220 support holds, we’d favor another rise. Break of 1.3549 will target 1.3651 high next. Break there will resume medium term rally from 1.1946. However, firm break of 1.3220 will turn near term outlook bearish for 1.3038 key support level.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 low was strong, it’s limited below 1.3835 key support turned resistance. As long as 1.3835 holds, we’d view such rebound as a correction. That is, we’d expect another leg in the long term down trend through 1.1946 low. However, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

GBP/USD’s break of 1.2133 temporary low suggests that fall from 1.2705 has resumed. Intraday bias is back on the downside for retesting 1.1946/86 support zone. As noted before, consolidation pattern from 1.1946 is completed at 1.2705 is resuming larger down trend. Break of 1.1946 will confirm our bearish view. GBP/USD’s rally extends further and took out 61.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.3047 from 1.2588 at 1.3168. There is no sign of topping yet and intraday bias stays on the upside. Further rise would be seen to 1.3444 key resistance. We’ll look for topping signal again around there. On the downside, below 1.3096 minor support will turn bias neutral first. Further break of 1.2932 support will indicate reversal and will turn bias to the downside to target 1.2588 key support next.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. GBP/USD rebounds today but still, it’s staying in corrective pattern from 1.3549. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. As long as 1.3220 support holds, we’d favor another rise. GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3136; (P) 1.3211; (R1) 1.3269; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral at this point. On the downside, break of 1.3026 minor support will indicate that recovery is completed at 1.3337. And fall from 1.3651 is resuming for 1.2773 support. That will revive that case that medium term rise from 1.1946 has completed at 1.3651. Meanwhile, above 1.3337 will bring retest of 1.3651 high instead.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 was strong, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Outlook is turned a bit mixed and we’ll turn neutral first. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2773 key support will argue that rebound from 1.1946 has completed. The corrective structure of rise from 1.1946 to 1.3651 will in turn suggest that long term down trend is now completed. Break of 1.1946 low should then be seen. On the upside, break of 1.3835 support turned resistance will revive the case of trend reversal and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

As noted before, fall from 1.4345 has just resumed. Intraday bias stays on the downside for 1.3651 resistance turned support and below. At this point, such fall is viewed as a corrective move. Hence, we’ll look for strong support from 38.2% retracement of 1.1946 to 1.4345 at 1.3429 to contain downside and bring rebound. Nonetheless, break of 1.4144 resistance is needed to confirm completion of the decline. Otherwise, near term outlook will remain mildly bearish even in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3038 support holds, medium term outlook in GBP/USD will remains bullish. Rise from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rally would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. However, GBP/USD fails to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 1.4279) so far. Daily Pivots: (S1) 139.00; (P) 139.73; (R1) 140.31; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. Overall outlook is unchanged that price actions from 148.42 are forming a consolidation pattern. And there is no clear sign of completion yet. On the downside, break of 138.53 support would trigger downside acceleration to 136.44 support and possibly below. We’d expect strong support from 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, break of 142.79 resistance will turn bias to the upside and send GBP/JPY through 144.77 resistance.
