GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2946; (P) 1.2980; (R1) 1.3011; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation above 1.2950 temporary low. Outlook stays bearish and deeper decline is expected as long as 1.3111 resistance holds. As noted before, price actions from 1.1946 are seen as a corrective pattern and could have completed at 1.3267. Break of 1.2932 will affirm this bearish case and target 1.2588 key near term support for confirmation. However, break of 1.3111 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 1.3267 high.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. While further upside is expected, larger outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Down trend from 1.7190 (2014 high) is expected to resume later after the correction completes. And break of 1.2588 will indicate that such down trend is resuming.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Price actions from 1.1946 are viewed as a consolidation pattern, with rise from 1.1986 as the third leg. In case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 1.2774 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, below 1.2346 will revive the case that such consolidation is completed at 1.2705 already. In that case, intraday bias will turn back to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term bottoming yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2917; (P) 1.2952; (R1) 1.2976; More

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook. With 1.2830 minor support intact, further rise is still expected. Current rally could target 161.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.2614 from 1.2365 at 1.3184. At this point, price actions from 1.1946 are still interpreted as a correction pattern. Therefore, we’d expect strong resistance below 1.3444 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2830 support will indicate short term topping. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.2614 support.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term reversal yet.

GBP/USD drops sharply today but it’s staying above 1.2633. Intraday bias remains neutral first. With 1.2977 resistance intact, we’re still favoring the bearish case. That is, consolidation pattern from 1.1946 has completed at 1.3047 already. Break of 1.2614 resistance turned support should confirm our bearish view and target a test on 1.1946 low next. However, break of 1.2977 will dampen our view and turn bias back to the upside for 1.3047 and above.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. Price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a consolidation pattern, which could have completed after hitting 55 week EMA. Break of 1.1946 low will target 61.8% projection of 1.5016 to 1.1946 from 1.3047 at 1.1150 next. In case the consolidation from 1.1946 extends, outlook will stay remain bearish as long as 1.3444 resistance holds.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral again with 4 hour MACD dropped below signal line. On the downside. below 1.2768 minor support will extend the fall from 1.3047 to 1.2614 resistance turned support. Decisive break there should confirm completion of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946 and resume the larger down trend through this low. On the upside, break of 1.3047 will extend the correction with another rise towards 1.3444 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. The rejection from 55 week EMA is maintaining bearishness in the pair. Also, at this point, as long as 1.3444 resistance holds, fall from 1.7190 is still expected to continue. Break of above mentioned 1.2614 support will affirm this bearish case.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3578; (P) 1.3608; (R1) 1.3645; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is back on the upside as rebound from 1.3410 is trying to resume. Sustained trading above 55 day EMA (now at 1.3730) will affirm near term bullishness and target 1.3912 key resistance. On the downside, though, break of 1.3542 minor support will retain near term bearishness, and turn bias back to the downside for 1.3410 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 is at least a correction to the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low). Such correction could extend to 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164 before completion. However, considering the rejection by 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high), sustained trading below 1.3164 will argue that it’s indeed a bearish trend reversal and would target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493. Nevertheless, break of 1.3912 resistance will revive medium term bullishness and target 1.4248/4376 resistance zone again.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2422; (P) 1.2480; (R1) 1.2591; More

GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.1986 resumed and reaches as high as 1.2605 so far. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 1.2774 resistance next. Again, rise from 1.1986 is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946. We’d expect strong resistance at 1.2774 to limit upside and bring down trend resumption eventually. On the downside, below 1.2414 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.1946 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

At this point, GBP/USD is still bounded in the corrective pattern from 1.3549 and intraday bias stays neutral. As long as 1.3220 support holds, we’d favor another rise. Break of 1.3549 will target 1.3651 high next. Break there will resume medium term rally from 1.1946. However, firm break of 1.3220 will turn near term outlook bearish for 1.3038 key support level.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 low was strong, it’s limited below 1.3835 key support turned resistance. As long as 1.3835 holds, we’d view such rebound as a correction. That is, we’d expect another leg in the long term down trend through 1.1946 low. However, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

GBP/USD’s pull back from 1.2965 extends today but it’s staying above 1.2755 support. Intraday bias remains neutral with another rise in favor. Break of 1.2965 will target 161.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.2614 from 1.2365 at 1.3184. At this point, price actions from 1.1946 are still interpreted as a correction pattern. Therefore, we’d expect strong resistance below 1.3444 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2755 minor support will turn bias to the downside. Further break of 1.2614 resistance turned support will now indicate near term reversal.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term reversal yet. Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 1.3026 minor support will indicate that recovery is completed at 1.3337. And fall from 1.3651 is resuming for 1.2773 support. That will revive that case that medium term rise from 1.1946 has completed at 1.3651. Meanwhile, above 1.3337 will bring retest of 1.3651 high instead.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 was strong, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Outlook is turned a bit mixed and we’ll turn neutral first. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2773 key support will argue that rebound from 1.1946 has completed. The corrective structure of rise from 1.1946 to 1.3651 will in turn suggest that long term down trend is now completed. Break of 1.1946 low should then be seen. On the upside, break of 1.3835 support turned resistance will revive the case of trend reversal and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

On the upside, break of 1.3030 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay cautiously bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern. While further rise cannot be ruled out, larger outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. There is no change in the view that rebound form 1.1198 is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946. Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral for consolidation above 1.2840 temporary low. Outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3030 resistance holds. A temporary top is in place at 1.3029 as GBP/USD lost upside moment, with 4 hour MACD crossed below signal line. Intraday bias is turned neutral for some consolidations. Downside of retreat should be contained by 1.2849 support to bring another rally. Above 1.3029 will target 1.3047 resistance first. In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern. Pull back from 1.3047 has completed after failing to sustain below 1.2614 resistance turned support. It argues that the corrective pattern from 1.1946 is still in progress for another high above 1.3047. But still, outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Above 1.2569 will target 1.2705/74 resistance zone. Price actions from 1.1946 are seen as a consolidation pattern. Hence, we’d expect strong resistance from 1.2705/2774 to limit upside and bring down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2340 support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2108 support. Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. Consolidation from 1.3026 is still in progress. In case of stronger rise, upside should be limited below 1.3337 resistance to bring fall resumption. Break of 1.3038 will now resume decline from 1.3651 to 1.2773 key support level. GBP/USD is staying in consolidation from 1.3381 and intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. Further rise is still mildly in favor as long as 1.2960 support holds. On the upside, decisive break of 1.3381 will extend the rise from 1.2391 and target 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 next. However, on the downside, sustained break of 1.2960 will indicate that rebound from 1.2391 has completed earlier than expected. Deeper fall would then be seen to 1.2773 support for confirmation.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) should have completed at 1.2391. Rise from 1.2391 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low). Further rise could be seen through 1.4376 in medium term. On the downside, though, break of 1.2773 support will dampen this view. Focus will be turned back to 1.2391 low and break will resume the fall from 1.4376 to 1.1946.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2763; (P) 1.2779; (R1) 1.2803; More…..

Outlook in GBP/USD remains unchanged and intraday bias stays neutral. As long as 1.2693 support holds, further rally is in favor. Above 1.2816 will resume the rally from 1.2298 to 1.2892 resistance next. On the downside, break of 1.2693 minor support will turn intraday bias to the downside for deeper pullback instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern. Fall from 1.2892 is seen as the third leg which might have completed already. Break of 1.2892 resistance will argue that larger up trend from 1.0351(2022 low) is ready to resume through 1.3141. Meanwhile, break of 1.2445 support will extend the corrective pattern with another decline instead.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

GBP/USD continues to engage in consolidative trading below 1.2965 temporary top. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. With 1.2755 support intact, further rise is expected.

With 1.3287 minor support intact, intraday bias remains mildly on the upside for 61.8% retracement of 1.3651 to 1.3026 at 1.3412. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 1.3651 high. Nonetheless, rejection from 1.3412, or break of 1.3278 minor support will revive the case that price actions from 1.3026 are merely correction. And intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.3026 low in that case.

In the bigger picture, as noted before, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Nonetheless, subsequent fall was contained by 55 week EMA (now at 1.3069).
