GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s decline from 1.3267 extended lower last week but lost momentum ahead of 1.2932 support. Initial bias is neutral this week first. Near term outlook stays cautiously bearish as long as 1.3111 resistance holds and deeper fall is expected. As noted before, price actions from 1.1946 are seen as a corrective pattern and could have completed at 1.3267. Break of 1.2932 will affirm this bearish case and target 1.2588 key near term support for confirmation. However, break of 1.3111 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 1.3267 high instead.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern. While further rise cannot be ruled out, larger outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Down trend from 1.7190 (2014 high) is expected to resume later after the correction completes. And break of 1.2588 will indicate that such down trend is resuming.

In the longer term picture, no change in the view that down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) is still in progress. On resumption, such decline would extend deeper to 100% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 0.9532. However, firm break of 1.3444 should confirm reversal and turn outlook bullish.

GBP/USD’s pull back from 1.2965 extends today but it’s staying above 1.2755 support. Intraday bias remains neutral with another rise in favor. Break of 1.2965 will target 161.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.2614 from 1.2365 at 1.3184. At this point, price actions from 1.1946 are still interpreted as a correction pattern. Therefore, we’d expect strong resistance below 1.3444 to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2755 minor support will turn bias to the downside. Further break of 1.2614 resistance turned support will now indicate near term reversal.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term reversal yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2656; (P) 1.2696; (R1) 1.2764; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Some consolidations would be seen but downside should be contained by 1.2500 support. On the upside, break of 1.2755 will extend the rise from 1.1409 to 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.2647 from 1.2065 at 1.2830 next.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is not enough evidence trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. However, decisive break of 1.3514 should at least confirm medium term bottoming and turn outlook bullish for 1.4376 resistance first.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2488; (P) 1.2551; (R1) 1.2621; More

A temporary top is in place at 1.2614 in GBP/USD. Intraday bias is turned neutral for some consolidations. Another rise is expected as long as 1.2468 minor support holds. Above 1.2614 will target 1.2705/2774. Nonetheless, rise from 1.2108 is seen as part of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946. We’d expect upside to be limited by 1.2705/2774 to bring down trend resumption eventually. On the downside, below 1.2468 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2108 support first. Though, sustained break of 1.2774 will extend the rise towards 1.3444 key resistance level.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral for consolidation below 1.2582. Outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2352 support holds. On the upside, above 1.2582 will target 1.2759 fibonacci level first. Firm break there will target 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3095. However, considering bearish divergence condition in 4H MACD, break of 1.2352 will confirm short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, the rise from 1.0351 medium term term bottom (2022 low) is in progress for 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will add to the case of long term bullish trend reversal. Further break of 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3095 could prompt upside acceleration to 100% projection at 1.3895. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.1801 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2470; (P) 1.2503; (R1) 1.2560; More

GBP/USD is still staying in range of 1.2434/2678 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. On the downside, firm break of 1.2434 will confirm short term topping at 1.2678, on bearish divergence condition in 4H MACD. Intraday bias will be back on the downside for 1.1801 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2678 at 1.1789), as correction to whole up trend from 1.0351. On the upside, however, break of 1.2678 will resume larger up trend from 1.0351 instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.1801 support holds, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low) is expected to extend further. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759 will add to the case of long term bullish trend reversal. However, firm break of 1.1801 will indicate rejection by 1.2759, and bring deeper decline, even as a correction.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2691; (P) 1.2726; (R1) 1.2753; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral for the moment. On the upside. decisive break of 100% projection of 1.2298 to 1.2633 from 1.2445 at 1.2780 will extend the rally from 1.2298 to 1.2892 resistance next. However, break of 1.2685 will minor support will turn bias back to the downside, for retreat to 55 4H EMA (now at 1.2661) and below.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern. Fall from 1.2892 is seen as the third leg which might have completed already. Break of 1.2892 resistance will argue that larger up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) is ready to resume through 1.3141. Meanwhile, break of 1.2298 support will extend the corrective pattern instead.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2213; (P) 1.2257; (R1) 1.2284; More

GBP/USD’s decline is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the downside at this point. Current fall from 1.3141 should target 1.2075 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 1.2369 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations. But near term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.2618 support turned resistance holds, in case of strong recovery.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top is seen as a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Strong support would be seen there to bring rebound on first attempt. However, sustained break of 1.2075 will raise the chance of bearish trend reversal and target 1.1801 structural support next.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2802; (P) 1.2843; (R1) 1.2891; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. Price actions from 1.2661 are viewed as a consolidation pattern. Break of 1.2692 will bring retest of 1.2661 first. Firm break there will resume the larger down trend from 1.4376. On the upside, sustained break of 4 hour 55 EMA (now at 1.2885) could extend the consolidation with another rise. But even in case of strong rally, upside should be limited by 1.3316 fibonacci level to bring down trend resumption eventually.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

Focus is now on 1.3702 resistance in GBP/USD against with current rebound. Decisive break there will resume whole rise from 1.1409. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.3482 from 1.2675 at 1.3956. For now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.3428 support holds, even in case of another retreat.

In the bigger picture, the break of 1.3514 structural resistance and sustained trading above 55 month EMA (now at 1.3328) should confirm medium term bottoming at 1.1409. Rise from there should now extend to 1.4376 resistance and above. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.2675 support holds.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3792; (P) 1.3841; (R1) 1.3894; More….

GBP/USD rebounds strongly today. But it’s still staying below 1.3929 resistance. Intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, firm break of 1.3929 will be the first sign of reversal. That is, the choppy pull back from 1.4345 could have completed at 1.3711 already. In this case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 1.4144 resistance for confirming this bullish view. On the downside, break of 1.3711 will resume the decline from 1.4345 through 1.3651 resistance turned support. At this point, we’ll look for strong support from 38.2% retracement of 1.1946 to 1.4345 at 1.3429 to contain downside and bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3038 support holds, medium term outlook in GBP/USD will remains bullish. Rise from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rally would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. However, GBP/USD fails to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 1.4259) so far. Break of 1.3038 support, will suggest that rise from 1.1946 has completed and will turn outlook bearish for retesting this low.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2811; (P) 1.2895; (R1) 1.2975; More…..

GBP/USD is still bounded in range above 1.2675 and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, firm break of 1.3007 resistance will argue that decline from 1.3482 is merely a corrective move, and turn bias back to the upside for retesting 1.3482. On the downside, sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.3482 at 1.2690 will argue that the rise from 1.1409 might be completed, and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 1.2201.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 was strong, it’s limited by both 1.3514 resistance, as well as 55 month EMA (now at 1.3317). The development keeps outlook bearish. Sustained break of 55 week EMA (now at 1.2749) will add to medium term bearishness for a new low below 1.1409 at a later stage, resuming the down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high).

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2421; (P) 1.2460; (R1) 1.2484; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point and more consolidations could be seen. Recovery should be limited by 1.2577 minor resistance to bring another fall. On the downside, firm break of 1.2407 will resume the decline from 1.2892 to 100% projection of 1.2892 to 1.2538 from 1.2708 at 1.2354. Firm break there will target 161.8% projection at 1.2207 next.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Fall from 1.2892 is seen as the third leg. Deeper decline would be seen to 1.2036 support and possibly below. But strong support should emerge from 61.8% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2452 at 1.1417 to complete the correction.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1330; (P) 1.1447; (R1) 1.1507; More

GBP/USD’s break of 1.1256 suggests that rebound from 1.0351 has completed with three waves up to 1.1644, ahead of 1.1759 support turned resistance. The development retains larger bearishness. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 1.0922 support first. Break there will target a retest on 1.0351 low. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 1.1644 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) is part of the long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.1759 support turned resistance holds. Parity would be the next target on resumption. Nevertheless, firm break of 1.1759 will confirm medium term bottoming, and open up stronger rise back to 55 week EMA (now at 1.2392).

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.4062; (P) 1.4132; (R1) 1.4179; More

GBP/USD rebounds after drawing support from 1.4090. Intraday bias remains neutral and near term bullishness is retained. On the upside, sustained break of 1.4240, will indication resumption of larger up trend from 1.1409, for 1.4376 resistance next. On the downside, break of 1.4090 will indicate the start of the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.4240. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.4008 resistance turned support and below.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 1.1409 should still continue. Decisive break of 1.4376 resistance will carry larger bullish implications and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1409 (2020 low) at 1.5134. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 1.2675 support and below.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2656; (P) 1.2686; (R1) 1.2729; More….

GBP/USD is staying in consolidation from 1.2559 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Outlook stays bearish with 1.2747 intact and fall from 1.3381 would still extend lower. On the downside, break of 1.2559 will target 1.2391 low first. Firm break there will resume larger down trend to 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next. Though, break of 1.2747 resistance will confirm short term bottoming and bring stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) is possibly ready to resume. Decisive break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s rise from 1.0351 last week and the break of 1.1759 support turned resistance carries larger bullish implications. Initial bias remains on the upside this week. Firm break of 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.1494 from 1.1145 at 1.1851 will pave the way to 100% projection at 1.2288. On the downside, below 1.1597 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidation first.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that rise from 1.0351 is a medium term bottom. Rise from there is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1145 support holds. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.1840 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2759 and possibly above.

In the longer term picture, as long as 1.4248 resistance holds (2021 high), long term outlook will remain neutral at best. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007) could still resume for another low through 1.0351 at a later stage.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2504; (P) 1.2537; (R1) 1.2595; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral with current retreat. On the upside, above 1.2568 will resume the rebound from 1.2298 to 55 D EMA (now at 1.2580). Sustained break there will argue that fall from 1.2892 has completed already, and bring further rise to this resistance. Nevertheless, on the downside, break of 1.2448 minor support will bring retest of 1.2298 low instead.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3573; (P) 1.3607; (R1) 1.3659; More

Break of 1.3707 will resume whole rise from 1.1409 to 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.3482 from 1.2675 at 1.3956. Nevertheless, break of 1.3428 support will indicate short term top, and turn bias to the downside for deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, the break of 1.3514 structural resistance and sustained trading above 55 month EMA (now at 1.3332) should confirm medium term bottoming at 1.1409. Rise from there should now extend to 1.4376 resistance and above. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.2675 support holds.
