GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3741; (P) 1.3841; (R1) 1.3927; More…..

GBP/USD spikes higher to 1.3942 but fails to sustain above 1.3835 key resistance yet. Intraday bias remains neutral first. We’d still expect strong resistance from 1.3835 to limit upside to complete the medium term rally from 1.1946. Break of 1.3612 resistance turned support will be the first sign of reversal and turn bias back to the downside for 1.3457 support. However, sustained break of 1.3835 will carry larger bullish implication and target long term fibonacci level at 1.5466.

In the bigger picture, the break of long term trend line resistance from 1.7190 (2014 high) is seen as a sign of long term reversal. However, rise from 1.1946 (2016 low) is not impulsive looking. And the pair is limited below 1.3835 key resistance. Hence, we won’t turn bullish yet and would continue to monitor the development. On the downside, break of 1.3038 support will now indicate that rebound from 1.1946 has completed and turn outlook bearish. Meanwhile, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2647; (P) 1.2674; (R1) 1.2699; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral for the moment. On the upside, break of 1.2708 resistance will indicate that correction from 1.2826 has completed. Intraday bias will be back on the upside for retesting 1.2826. Nevertheless, decisive break of 1.2499 will argue that whole rise from 1.2036 has completed and turn near term outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg, which could be still in progress. But upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2499 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2869; (P) 1.2958; (R1) 1.3029; More

Despite jumping to 1.3047, GBP/USD quickly lost momentum and retreated. Intraday bias is turned neutral again. With 1.2844 support intact, further rise is still in favor in the pair. However, as price actions from 1.1946 are still viewed as a corrective pattern, we’d expect upside to be limited below 1.3444 to complete the correction. Meanwhile, break of 1.2844 will be a strong sign of near term reversal, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. In such case intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.2614 resistance turned support first.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term reversal yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

GBP/USD is still bounded in consolidation from 1.3029 and intraday bias stays neutral. Another fall cannot be ruled out. But downside should be contained above 1.2849 support to bring rise resumption. Break of 1.3029 should then send GBP/USD through 1.3047 to 61.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.3047 from 1.2588 at 1.3168 next.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. While further upside is now in favor, overall outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Larger down trend from 1.7190 is expected to resume later after the correction completes. And break of 1.2588 will indicate that such down trend is resuming.

GBP/USD is still bounded in range trading below 1.2343 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. Further rise remains mildly in favor as long as 1.1898 support holds. On the upside, break of 1.2343 will resume the rally from 1.0351 and target 1.2759 medium term fibonacci level next. However, firm break of 1.1898 support will confirm short term topping and turn bias back to the downside.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point as range trading continues. On the downside, firm break of 1.2252 minor support will turn bias to the downside, and extend the corrective pattern from 1.2445 with another falling leg. On the upside, decisive break of 1.2445 will confirm resumption of whole rise from 1.0351. Next target will be 1.2759 fibonacci level.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3770; (P) 1.3841; (R1) 1.3879; More

GBP/USD retreated quickly after edging higher to 1.3912. Intraday bias is turned neutral again. On the upside, break of 1.3912 will target 1.3982 resistance next. Decisive break there will indicate that fall from 1.4248 has completed. Stronger rally would then be seen back to 1.4248 high. On the downside, however, break of 1.3725 support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 1.3570/3601 support zone instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, we’d still treat price actions from 1.4248 as a corrective move. That is, up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) is in favor to resume. Decisive break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) would indeed carry long term bullish implications. However, sustained break of 1.3482 will at least bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, or even further to 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral for the moment. On the upside, above 1.3890 will resume the rise from 1.3601 to 1.3982 resistance first. Decisive break there will l indicate that fall from 1.4248 has completed. Near term outlook will be turned bullish for retesting 1.4248. However, on the downside, break of 1.3730 support will bring retest of 1.3570/3601 support zone instead.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3810; (P) 1.3878; (R1) 1.3917; More…..

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook. As long as 1.3741 minor support holds, further rally is expected. Sustained trading above 1.3835 key resistance could trigger upside acceleration to 100% projection of 1.2108 to 1.3651 from 1.3038 at 1.4581 next. However, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 1.3741 will indicate short term topping. More importantly, that would suggest rejection from 1.3835 and turn bias to the downside for 1.3457.

In the bigger picture, sustained break of 1.3835 key resistance level will indicate that rebound from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from from 2007 high at 2.1161. In that case, further rise should be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. Nonetheless, rejection from 1.3835 will maintain medium term bearishness and thus, the risk retesting 1.1946 ahead.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2868; (P) 1.2893; (R1) 1.2920; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation above 1.2865 temporary low. Upside of recovery should be limited by 1.3019 minor resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2865 will target 1.2773 support first. Decisive break there will confirm that corrective rebound from 1.2391 has completed earlier than expected at 1.3381. Further decline should then be seen to 1.2391 low again. On the upside, however, break of 1.3019 resistance will dampen this bearish case and turn bias back to the upside for recovery first.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) halted after hitting 1.2391. Rise from 1.2391 could have completed after just missing 50% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.338. Such rebound could be a correction to fall from 1.4376 only. Break of 1.2773 support will affirm this bearish case and target 1.2391. Break of 1.2391 will resume the fall from 1.4376 to 1.1946 (2016 low).

Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248. This will remain the favored case as long as 55 day EMA (now at 1.1874) holds.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2052; (P) 1.2123; (R1) 1.2189; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral at this point. On the upside, break of 1.2192 will affirm the case that corrective pattern from 1.2445 has completed with three waves to 1.1960. Further rise would be seen back to 1.2445/6. Decisive break there will resume larger rise from 1.0351. On the downside, through break of 1.1960 will extend the corrective pattern with another fall to 1.1840 support and possibly below.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2594; (P) 1.2644; (R1) 1.2672; More…

Further decline is expected in GBP/USD as long as 1.2702 resistance holds. Sustained trading below 1.2633 resistance turned support will argue that whole rise from 1.2298 has completed, and target 1.2445 and below. On the upside, however, firm break of 1.2702 resistance will argue that pull back from 1.2859 has completed, and bring retest of this high instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. Break of 1.2445 support will confirm that another falling leg has started and target 1.2036 cluster support again (38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Nevertheless, break of 1.2892 resistance will argue that larger up trend from 1.0351is ready to resume through 1.3141.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2858; (P) 1.2903; (R1) 1.2960; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside for the moment. Decisive break of 61.8% projection of 1.2298 to 1.2859 from 1.2612 at 1.2959 would prompt upside acceleration through 1.3141 resistance to 100% projection at 1.3173. On the downside, below 1.2845 resistance turned support will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern which might have completed with three waves to 1.2298 already. This will now remain the favored case as long as 1.2612 support holds. Firm break of 1.3141 will target 61.8% projection of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 (2023 high) from 1.2298 at 1.4022.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2115; (P) 1.2163; (R1) 1.2189; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Consolidation from 1.2026 is still extending, and outlook stays bearish with 1.2336 resistance intact. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2036 will resume whole decline from 1.3141 for 1.1801 support next. However, break of 1.2336 will resume the rebound from 1.2036 to 55 D EMA (now at 1.2383).

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top could still be a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) only. But risk of complete trend reversal is rising. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.1417. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 1.2383) holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2259; (P) 1.2336; (R1) 1.2406; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains mildly on the upside for retesting 1.2582 resistance. Break will resume whole rebound from 1.1958. However, on the downside, break of 1.2204 will turn bias back to the downside for 1.1946/58 key support zone next.

In the bigger picture, we’d remain cautious on medium term bottoming around 1.1946 (2016 low). Sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 1.2724) will extend the consolidation pattern from 1.1946 with another rise to 1.4376 resistance. Nevertheless, decisive break of 1.1946 will resume down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) to 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2624; (P) 1.2721; (R1) 1.2773; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral as range trading continues. On the downside, below 1.2618, and sustained trading below 1.2678 resistance turned support will argue that it’s already in a larger correction. Deeper decline would then be seen to 1.2306 support next. Nevertheless, firm break of 1.2817 minor resistance will indicate that the pull back has completed, and turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top could be in place at 1.3141 already, on bearish divergence condition in D MACD. Sustained trading below 55 D EMA (now at 1.2726) should confirm this case, and bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075, as a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). For now, rise will stay mildly on the downside as long as 1.3141 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3089; (P) 1.3125; (R1) 1.3177; More

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as corrective pattern from 1.2956 is extending. Intraday bias remains neutral. Stronger rise cannot be ruled out. But upside should be limited below 1.3362 resistance to bring fall resumption eventually. On the downside, break of 1.2956 will resume the decline from 1.4376 to 1.2874 fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4179). Fall from 1.4376 should extend to 61.8% retracement of 1.1946 (2016 low) to 1.4376 at 1.2874 next. Decisive break of 1.2874 will raise the chance of long term down trend resumption through 1.1946 low. On the upside, break of 1.3362 resistance is needed to be the first indication of medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish even in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s up trend continued last week as reached as high as 1.4345. A temporary top is in place and intraday bias is neutral this week. Some consolidations could be seen but retreat should be contained by 1.3915 support to bring another rise. Above 1.4345 will turn bias back to the upside for 100% projection of 1.2108 to 1.3651 from 1.3038 at 1.4581 next.

In the bigger picture, sustained break of 1.3835 key resistance level indicates that rebound from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rise should now be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.3038 support holds, in case of pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 1.1946 should at least be correction whole long term down trend form 2.1161 and should target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. It too early to tell if it’s developing into a long term up trend. We’ll monitor the upside momentum and reaction to 1.5466 to decide later.
