GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2603; (P) 1.2662; (R1) 1.2692; More….

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as it’s staying in consolidation from 1.2476. Stronger recovery cannot be ruled out. Upside should be limited by 1.2811 resistance to bring decline resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2476 will extend larger down trend from 1.4376 to 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2661 from 1.3174 at 1.2114. However, firm break of 1.2811 will be an early signal of trend reversal and turn focus back to 1.3174 resistance.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). And this will now remain the preferred case as long as 1.3174 structural resistance holds. GBP/USD should now target a test on 1.1946 first. Decisive break there will confirm our bearish view.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3043; (P) 1.3083; (R1) 1.3129; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as consolidation continues in range of 1.2960/3381. Further rally remains mildly in favor with 1.2960 support intact. On the upside, decisive break of 1.3381 will extend the rise from 1.2391 and target 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 next. However, on the downside, sustained break of 1.2960 will indicate that rebound from 1.2391 has completed earlier than expected. Deeper fall would then be seen to 1.2773 support for confirmation.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) should have completed at 1.2391. Rise from 1.2391 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low). Further rise could be seen through 1.4376 in medium term. On the downside, though, break of 1.2773 support will dampen this view. Focus will be turned back to 1.2391 low and break will resume the fall from 1.4376 to 1.1946.

GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.2612 is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside. Correction from 1.2859 should completed at 1.2612. Firm break of 1.2859 will resume rally from 1.2298. On the downside, though, below 1.2705 will dampen the immediate bullish case, and turn intraday bias neutral again first.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. Break of 1.2445 support will confirm that another falling leg has started and target 1.2036 cluster support again (38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075. Nevertheless, break of 1.2892 resistance will argue that larger up trend from 1.0351 is ready to resume through 1.3141.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1975; (P) 1.2012; (R1) 1.2082; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as sideway trading continues. On the downside, break of 1.1914 will resume the decline from 1.2446, as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.2445, for 1.1840 support and possibly below. On the upside, break of 1.2142 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for further rebound to 1.2269 and above.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.1840 support holds, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low) should still continue to 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. However, decisive break of 1.1840 will complete a double top pattern (1.2445, 1.2446) after rejection by 55 week EMA (now at 1.2243). Deeper decline should be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2445 at 1.1645.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2703; (P) 1.2765; (R1) 1.2803; More

GBP/USD formed a temporary low at 1.2725, ahead of 1.2723 support and recovered. Intraday bias is turned neutral again. On the upside, above 1.2927 resistance will bring stronger rebound to 1.3071 and possibly above. On the downside, break of 1.2725 should extend recent fall to retest 1.2661 key support. After all, price actions from 1.2661 are viewed as a consolidation pattern. Even in case of strong rebound, upside should be limited by 1.3316 fibonacci level to bring down trend resumption eventually.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3809; (P) 1.3849; (R1) 1.3871; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as it’s staying in range below 1.3890. On the upside, above 1.3890 will resume the rise from 1.3601 for 1.3982 resistance. Decisive break there will indicate that fall from 1.4248 has completed. On the downside, however, break of 1.3725 support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 1.3570/3601 support zone instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, we’d still treat price actions from 1.4248 as a corrective move. That is, up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) is in favor to resume. Decisive break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) would indeed carry long term bullish implications. However, sustained break of 1.3482 will at least bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, or even further to 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3062; (P) 1.3116; (R1) 1.3152; More

GBP/USD’s retreat from 1.3176 temporary top extends lower today but stays above 1.2987 minor support. Intraday bias remains neutral and further rise remains in favor. As noted before, corrective decline from 1.3381 should have completed at 1.2865 already. On the upside, above 1.3176 will target a retest on 1.3381 high next. On the downside, below 1.2987 minor support will dampen this bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 1.2865 support instead.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) halted and made a medium term bottom after hitting 1.2391. Rebound from 1.2391 is seen as a corrective move for now. In case of another rise, strong resistance could be seen around 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 to limit upside. On the downside, break of 1.2773 support will suggests that such corrective rise is completed and bring retest of 1.2391 low first.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3583; (P) 1.3620; (R1) 1.3657; More

With 1.3542 minor support intact, intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside. Sustained trading above 55 day EMA (now at 1.3725) will target 1.3912 key near term resistance. On the downside, below 1.3542 minor support will retain near term bearishness, and turn bias back to the downside for 1.3410 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 is at least a correction to the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low). Such correction could extend to 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164 before completion. However, considering the rejection by 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high), sustained trading below 1.3164 will argue that it’s indeed a bearish trend reversal and would target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493. Nevertheless, break of 1.3912 resistance will revive medium term bullishness and target 1.4248/4376 resistance zone again.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2135; (P) 1.2166; (R1) 1.2223; More

GBP/USD drops notably in early US session but stays above 1.2036 support. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. Outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.2270 resistance holds. Break of 1.2026 will resume the fall from 1.3141. Sustained trading below 1.2075 fibonacci level would carry larger bearish implication, and target 1.1801 support next. On the upside, firm break of 1.2270 resistance will indicate short term bottoming, and turn bias back to the upside.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top could still be a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) only. But risk of complete trend reversal is rising. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.1417. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 1.2486) holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2754; (P) 1.2787; (R1) 1.2810; More

GBP/USD’s strong rally today indicates that rebound from 1.2773 has resumed. And the development argues that consolidation pattern from 1.2661 is staring another rising leg. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 1.3071 resistance first. But overall, upside should be limited by 1.3316 fibonacci level to bring down trend resumption eventually. On the downside, below 1.2764 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2661. Firm break there will resume the larger down trend from 1.4376.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3086; (P) 1.3157; (R1) 1.3200; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation above 1.3026. On the downside, break of 1.3026 will resume the decline from 1.3651 and target 1.2773 key support level. This will also revive the case of medium term reversal. Meanwhile, on the upside, break of 1.3337 will resume the rebound from 1.3026 to 61.8% retracement of 1.3651 to 1.3026 at 1.3412 and above.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 was strong, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Outlook is turned a bit mixed and we’ll stay neutral first. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2773 key support will argue that rebound from 1.1946 has completed. The corrective structure of rise from 1.1946 to 1.3651 will in turn suggest that long term down trend is now completed. Break of 1.1946 low should then be seen. On the upside, break of 1.3835 support turned resistance will revive the case of trend reversal and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2087; (P) 1.2143; (R1) 1.2240; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside as rise from 1.1801 is extending. As noted before, the corrective pattern from 1.2445 should have completed with three waves to 1.1801. Further rally should be seen to retest 1.2445/6 resistance zone next. On the downside, below 1.2045 minor support will delay the bullish case and turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, price action from 1.2445 are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low). Resumption is expected as a later stage and firm break of 1.2446 will target 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. This will remain the favored case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2445 at 1.1645 holds.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral first with current retreat. On the upside, break of 1.2244 will resume the rebound from 1.1759 for 1.2405 resistance. Firm break there will target 1.2666 key resistance next. On the downside, break of 1.2019 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 1.1759 low instead.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409 (2020 low), or resuming the longer term down trend. Deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2666 resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low. However, firm break of 1.2666 will bring stronger rise back to 55 week EMA (now at 1.2986).

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2319; (P) 1.2384; (R1) 1.2443; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral despite today’s decline. On the downside, firm break of 1.2252 minor support will turn bias to the downside, and extend the corrective pattern from 1.2445 with another falling leg. On the upside, decisive break of 1.2445 will confirm resumption of whole rise from 1.0351. Next target will be 1.2759 fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom is at least correcting whole down trend from 1.4248 (2021 high). Further rise is expected as long as 1.1644 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 1.4248.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2647; (P) 1.2674; (R1) 1.2699; More…

GBP/USD is still capped below 1.2708 temporary top and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 1.2708 resistance will indicate that correction from 1.2826 has completed. Intraday bias will be back on the upside for retesting 1.2826. Nevertheless, decisive break of 1.2499 will argue that whole rise from 1.2036 has completed and turn near term outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 medium term top are seen as a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low). Rise from 1.2036 is seen as the second leg, which could be still in progress. But upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, break of 1.2499 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 again.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3640; (P) 1.3666; (R1) 1.3691; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral first with focus on 1.3646 support. On the upside, above 1.3833 will resume the rebound from 1.3410 to 1.3912 key structural resistance. Firm break there will indicate that the correction from 1.4248 is complete with three waves down to 1.3410. On the downside, however, break of 1.3646 will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.3410 low instead.

In the bigger picture, the structure of the fall from 1.4248 suggests that it’s a correction to the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) only. While deeper fall cannot be ruled out yet, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, at least on first attempt, to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) will add to the case of long term bullish reversal. However, sustained trading below 1.3164 will revive some medium term bearishness and target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3100; (P) 1.3125; (R1) 1.3154; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays on the upside for the moment. Rebound from 1.2954 should target 1.3284 resistance. Break will pave the way to retest 1.3514 high. On the downside, below 1.3034 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 38.2% retracement of 1.1958 to 1.3514 at 1.2920.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is expected to extend higher to retest 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3862; (P) 1.3887; (R1) 1.3929; More….

GBP/USD’s break of 1.3908 suggests that fall from 1.4248 has completed at 1.3570 already. Corrective pattern from 1.4240 might have finished too. Intraday bias is back on the upside for retesting 1.4248 high next. On the downside, below 1.3841 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring retreat first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 1.1409 should still continue. Decisive break of 1.4376 resistance will carry larger bullish implications. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed. GBP/USD would then be seen in another leg of long term range pattern between 1.1409 and 1.4376. Deeper fall could then be seen to 61.8% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.2493, and even below.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral as it’s staying in range below 1.2708.
