GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2190; (P) 1.2220; (R1) 1.2254; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. Near term outlook stays bearish as long as 1.2467 resistance holds and further decline is in favor. We’ll holding on to the view that corrective rise from 1.1409 should have completed. On the downside, below 1.2065 will target a test on 1.1409 low. However, on the upside, break of 1.2467 will turn bias to the upside for 1.2647 resistance.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is no indication of trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. Next medium term target will be 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.3514 at 1.0273. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 1.3514 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2958; (P) 1.2989; (R1) 1.3024; More

GBP/USD continues to stay in range of 1.2811/3125 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. With 1.2811 support intact, another rise is mildly in favor. Break of 1.3125 will target 61.8% projection of 1.2108 to 1.3047 from 1.2588 at 1.3168. Overall, choppy rebound from 1.1946 is seen as a corrective pattern, hence, we’d be cautious on strong resistance from 1.3168 to limit upside. But firm break of 1.3168 will bring further rise towards 1.3444 key resistance. Meanwhile, break of 1.2811 support will be the first sign of reversal and will turn bias to the downside to target 1.2588 key support next.

In the bigger picture, overall, price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a corrective pattern that is still in progress. While further upside is expected, overall outlook remains bearish as long as 1.3444 key resistance holds. Larger down trend from 1.7190 is expected to resume later after the correction completes. And break of 1.2588 will indicate that such down trend is resuming.

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook. While corrective rise from 1.3203 might extend, upside limited by 1.3617 resistance to bring reversal. On the downside, break of 1.3253 minor support will likely resume the fall from 1.47376 through 1.3203 for 50% retracement of 1.1946 to 1.4376 at 1.3161 first, and 61.8% retracement at 1.2875 next.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that whole medium term rebound from 1.1936 (2016 low) has completed at 1.4376 already, with trend line broken firmly, on bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4223). 61.8% retracement of 1.1936 (2016 low) to 1.4376 at 1.2874 is the next target. We’ll pay attention to the reaction from there to asses the chance of long term down trend resumption. For now, outlook will stay bearish as long as 55 day EMA (now at 1.3648) holds, even in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD’s sharp fall suggests that a temporary top is formed at 1.3125 and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Another rise would be seen as long as 1.2811 support holds.

GBP/USD’s break of 1.2921 confirms resumption of fall from 1.3297. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 1.2661/2784 support zone. Price actions from 1.2661 are viewed as a corrective move. Decisive break of 1.2661 will resume larger down trend from 1.4376. On the upside, break of 1.3044 minor resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain mildly bearish even in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. The structure and momentum of the fall from 1.4376 argues that it’s resuming long term down trend. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. And, the eventual depth of the fall from 1.4376, and the chance of hitting 1.1946 low, will depend on the strength of the interim corrective rebound from 1.2661.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook as range trading continues and intraday bias remains neutral. On the downside, break of 1.2306 will resume the correction from 1.2678. Deeper decline would then be seen to 1.1801 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.2678 at 1.1789). On the upside, above 1.2543 will resume the rebound from 1.2306 to retest 1.2678 high.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.1801 support holds, rise from 1.0351 medium term bottom (2022 low) is expected to extend further. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759 will add to the case of long term bullish trend reversal. However, firm break of 1.1801 will indicate rejection by 1.2759, and bring deeper decline, even as a correction.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2290; (P) 1.2335; (R1) 1.2367; More….

GBP/USD’s fall from 1.2582 continues today and focus stays on 1.2283 support. Sustained break will indicate completion of rebound from 1.1958 at 1.2582. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside or retesting 1.1958 low. On the upside, break of 1.2582 and sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.3381 to 1.1958 at 1.2502 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2837.

In the bigger picture, we’d remain cautious on medium term bottoming around 1.1946 (2016 low). Sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 1.2758) will extend the consolidation pattern from 1.1946 with another rise to 1.4376 resistance. Nevertheless, decisive break of 1.1946 will resume down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) to 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is expected to extend higher to retest 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

GBP/USD is staying in tight range for now and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the downside, sustained break of 1.2661 low will resume larger down trend from 1.4376. Next target will be 1.1946. On the upside, break of 1.2927 will extend the consolidation from 1.26661 with another rise. But even in case of strong rebound, upside should be limited by 1.3316 fibonacci level to bring down trend resumption eventually.

In the bigger picture, whole medium term rebound from 1.1946 (2016 low) should have completed at 1.4376 already, after rejection from 55 month EMA. And this will be the preferred case as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2661 at 1.3316 holds. However, firm break of 1.3316 would bring stronger rebound to 61.8% retracement at 1.3721. However, break of 1.3668 will extend the correction from 1.4240 with another falling leg.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 1.1409 should still continue. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 1.2675 support and below.

On the downside, though, break of 1.2865 will target 1.2773 key support.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) halted after hitting 1.2391. The structure of the rebound from 1.2391 suggests that it’s a corrective move. In case of another rise, strong resistance could be seen around 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 to limit upside. On the downside, break of 1.2773 support will suggests that such corrective rise is completed and bring retest of 1.2391 low first.

Otherwise, outlook remains bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4376 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence, focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2374; (P) 1.2436; (R1) 1.2557; More..

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. Considering bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 1.2637 will confirm short term bottoming at 1.2154. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 55 day EMA (now at 1.2816). On the downside, break of 1.2154 will resume the down trend from 1.4248 to 200% projection of 1.3641 to 1.2999 from 1.3297 at 1.2013.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, fall from 1.4248 (2018 high) at least at the same degree as the rise from 1.1409 (2020 low). That is, fall from 1.4248 could be a leg inside the pattern from 1.1409, or resuming the longer term down trend. In either case, deeper decline is expected as long as 1.2999 support turned resistance holds. Next target is 1.1409 low.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2527; (P) 1.2589; (R1) 1.2661; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation below 1.2707 temporary top. Downside of retreat should be contained well above 1.2195 support to bring another rally. On the upside, break of 1.2707 will resume the rise from 1.1958 low to 100% projection of 1.1958 to 1.2582 from 1.2195 at 1.2819. Break will target 161.8% projection at 1.3205.

In the bigger picture, current development affirms the case of medium term bottoming at 1.1958, ahead of 1.1946 (2016 low). At this point, rise from 1.1958 is seen as the third leg of consolidation from 1.1946. Further rise would be seen back towards 1.4376 resistance. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.2195 support holds.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2375; (P) 1.2416; (R1) 1.2454; More…

GBP/USD is still extending the consolidation from 1.2504 and intraday bias stays neutral at this point. Deeper retreat could be seen, but downside should be contained by 55 4H EMA (now at 1.2341) to bring another rally. On the upside, break of 1.2504 will resume the whole rebound from 1.2036. Sustained trading above 38.2% retracement of 1.3141 to 1.2036 at 1.2458 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2716.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3141 are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 1.0351 (2022 low). Strong rebound from 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 (2022 low) to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will argue that current rise from 1.2036 is already the second leg. However, while further rally could be seen, upside should be limited by 1.3141 to bring the third leg of the pattern.
