GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.47; (P) 136.46; (R1) 136.96; More…

GBP/JPY is losing some upside momentum as seen in 4 hour MACD. But rebound from 133.03 is still in favor to continue with 135.05 minor support intact, towards retesting 142.71 high. On the downside, though, break of 135.05 will likely resume the fall from 142.71 through 133.03 to 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 131.11.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen only as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 146.08; (P) 146.63; (R1) 147.23; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 148.87 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. As long as 143.72 support holds, further rise is in favor. On the upside, decisive break of 149.48 key resistance will carry larger bullish implication and target 156.58 resistance next. However. sustained break of 143.72 will indicate near term reversal, after rejection by 149.48 key resistance. In that case, intraday bias will be turned to the downside for 141.00 support first.

In the bigger picture, focus is now staying on 149.98 key resistance. Decisive break there should confirm that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Rise from 131.51 is then seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 122.36 (2016 low). GBP/JPY should then target 156.59 and above. However, rejection by 149.98 will retain medium term bearishness and could extend the fall from 156.59 through 131.51 to 122.36.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s strong rally and break of 152.54 resistance last week argues that corrective pattern from 156.05 has completed already. Initial bias is mildly on the upside this week first. Further rally would be seen back to retest 156.05. On the downside, below 152.01 minor support will dampen the bullish case and turn intraday bias neutral again.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 149.03 support holds, such rise would still resume at a later stage. However, sustained break of 149.03 support will indicate rejection by 156.59 (2018 high). Fall from 156.05 would at least be correcting the whole rise from 123.94 (2020 low). Deeper fall would be seen back 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 156.05 at 143.78 first.

In the longer term picture, the strong break of 55 months EMA was an early sign of long term bullish reversal. Firm break of 156.69 resistance should now confirm the start of an up trend for 195.86 (2015 high). However, rejection by 156.69 will invalidate the bullish signal and keep long term outlook neutral first.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s break of 133.98 resistance last week argue that fall from 139.73 might have completed at 131.68. Initial bias is mildly on the upside for 136.34 resistance first. Break will confirm this case and bring retest of 139.73 high. Though, break of 131.95 support would resume the decline through 131.68 to 129.27 key support.

In the bigger picture, we’re seeing price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) as a sideway consolidation pattern. As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

In the longer term picture, repeated rejection by 55 month EMA indicate long term bearishness in the cross. Down trend from 251.09 (2007 high) should eventually resume through 122.75 to 116.83 (2011 low) and below. However, sustained break of 55 month EMA (now at 144.87) will dampen this view and could open up further rise back to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY stayed in consolidation form 147.95 last week and outlook is unchanged. In case of another fall, downside should be contained by 139.31/77 (38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77) to bring rebound. On the upside, above 144.36 will bring retest of 147.95 resistance. However, sustained break of 139.77 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 134.71.

In the bigger picture, rise from 126.54 could either be the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low), or the start of a new up trend. In either case, further rally is expected as long as 139.31 support holds, into 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. Reaction from there should reveal which case it should be in. However, sustained break of 139.31 support will dampen this case and turn medium term outlook neutral first.

In the longer term picture, in spite of the current strong rally, there is no confirmation of long term bullish reversal yet. Focus is now on 156.59 key resistance. As long as it holds, another decline through 122.75 could still be seen. But firm break of 156.69 should at least bring further rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

In the bigger picture, the case for medium term reversal continues to build up on loss of medium term momentum as seen in 4 hour MACD. Also, firm break of 146.96 will indicate rejection by 55 month EMA and add to that case of reversal. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 and then 61.8% retracement at 135.43. Meanwhile, break of 156.59 will extend the rise from 122.36 to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 131.68 temporary low. As long as 136.34 resistance holds, further decline is still expected. On the downside, below 131.68 will extend the fall from1 39.73 to 129.27 support. Decisive break there will confirm completion of rebound from 123.94. Deeper fall would be seen to retest 123.94 low.

In the bigger picture, we’re seeing price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are seen as a sideway consolidation pattern. As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.76; (P) 139.75; (R1) 140.30; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside for 136.44 support and below. Current decline from 144.77 is seen as the third leg of consolidation pattern from 148.42. Hence, we’d expect strong support from 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 141.96 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside. However, sustained trading below 135.39 will argue that whole rise from 122.36 is completed and will turn outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern with a test on 122.36 low next. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement at 167.78.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 164.70; (P) 165.35; (R1) 166.51; More…

GBP/JPY’s rally resumed after brief consolidations and intraday bias is back on the upside. The break of 166.31 resistance suggests that larger up trend is ready to resume. Further rise should be seen to retest 168.67 high first. Decisive break there will confirm and target 100% projection of 155.57 to 168.67 from 159.42 at 172.42. On the downside, below 164.28 minor support will mix up the outlook and turn bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 130.49; (P) 131.14; (R1) 131.59; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 129.27 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. As long as 133.18 resistance holds, further decline remains in favor. Break of 129.27 will target 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 135.74 at 128.44. Firm break there will target a test on 123.94 low. However, break of 133.18 will invalidate our bearish view and turn bias back to the upside for 135.74 resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 164.10; (P) 165.04; (R1) 166.05; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral with current recovery, but further decline is still expected as long as 167.40 resistance intact. Decisive break of 163.02 will resume the whole fall from 172.11, and target 100% projection of 172.11 to 163.02 from 168.99 at 159.90.

In the bigger picture, medium term upside momentum has been diminishing as seen in bearish divergence condition in weekly MACD. Sustained break of 55 week EMA (now at 160.66) will argue that it’s already correcting whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Nevertheless, before that, such up trend could still extend through 172.11 high.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 142.89; (P) 143.28; (R1) 143.51; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral with a temporary top formed at 143.65. Another rise is mildly in favor as long as 141.92 minor support holds. Above 143.65 will target 55 day EMA (now at 144.60) and above. On the downside, however, below 141.92 minor support will indicate completion of the rebound. And larger down trend will likely resume for 139.29/47 key support zone instead.

In the bigger picture, at this point decline from 156.59 is still seen as a corrective move. But the downside acceleration makes this view shaky. Focus will be on 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47). Strong rebound from there will re-affirm the bullish case that rise from 122.36 is still to extend through 156.59 high. However, sustained break of 139.29/47 should confirm medium term reversal. GBP/JPY would then target a retest on 122.26 (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.91; (P) 142.37; (R1) 142.64; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral for the moment. Corrective pattern from 147.95 is in progress. Break of 140.83 will bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77. On the upside, above 144.60 resistance will bring stronger rebound to retest 147.95 high.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral with current retreat and some consolidations could be seen. But downside should be contained above 156.35 minor support to bring another rally. On the upside, above 161.07 will continue larger up trend, and target 61.8% projection of 136.96 to 158.19 from 150.95 at 164.07.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) should still be in progress, and notable support from 55 week EMA affirms medium term bullishness. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93. Sustained break there will be a long term bullish signal. This will now remain the favored case as long as 148.94 support holds.

GBP/JPY’s rise from 178.02 resumed by breaking 183.79. Intraday bias is back on the upside for retesting 186.75 high. Decisive break there will resume larger up trend. For now, further rise is expected as long as 180.74 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, fall from 186.75 is seen as a corrective move only. As long as 176.29 support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (202 low) should still be in progress. Break of 186.75 will target 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 176.29 will confirm medium term topping, and bring lengthier and deeper consolidations.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 137.87; (P) 138.88; (R1) 139.47; More

GBP/JPY’s recovery failed below 140.60 resistance and drops sharply since then. Break of 137.51 now resumes the choppy decline from 144.77. Intraday bias is back on the downside for medium term fibonacci level at 135.39. We’d look for bottoming around there. But now, break of 140.08 resistance is needed to indicate short term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern. Or, sustained break of 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 will turn outlook bearish for a test on 122.36 low. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.88; (P) 142.36; (R1) 142.66; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside. Fall from 144.60 should target 140.83 support first. Break will extend the correction from 147.95 to 38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 144.60 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.43; (P) 135.91; (R1) 136.76; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 133.03 will resume the fall from 142.71 and target 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 131.11 next. Though, break of 137.00 will extend the rebound towards 142.71 resistance.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged lower to 136.55 last week but recovered since then. Initial bias remains neutral this week for some consolidations first. Stronger recovery cannot be ruled out. But upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 146.50 to 136.55 at 140.35 to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 136.55 will turn bias to the downside and extend the fall from 148.87 to 131.51 low.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY’s medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

In the longer term picture, firstly, GBP/JPY’s is kept well below 55 week EMA, keeping outlook bearish. But we’re treating price actions from 122.36 as a corrective pattern. Hence, we’d expect range trading to continue longer. In case of an extension, strong resistance is likely to be seen at 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.36 at 159.11 to limit upside. However, break of 122.26 will put 116.83 (2011 low) back into focus.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 137.94; (P) 138.34; (R1) 138.63; More…

GBP/JPY’s fall extends to as low as 137.21 so far. Current decline from 148.87 should now target to retest 131.51 low. On the upside, break of 138.73 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another fall.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY was rejected by 149.98 key resistance. And medium term fall from 156.59 is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). On the other hand, decisive break of 149.98 should confirm that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Further rally would be seen back to 156.59 resistance and above.
