GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for the moment. Current rally is in progress to retest 172.11 high. Firm break there will resume larger up trend and target 100% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 178.51. On the downside, below 167.95 support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is likely ready to resume. Next target is 161.8% projection of 122.75 (2016 low) to 156.59 (2018 high) from 123.94 at 178.69. This will now remain the favored case as long as 165.40 support holds, in case of retreat.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 143.10; (P) 143.65; (R1) 144.08; More…

GBP/JPY’s break of 142.76 support confirms fall resumption. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 139.29/47 key support zone. On the upside, above 144.22 minor resistance will turn bias neutral and bring consolidation first, before staging another decline.

In the bigger picture, as long as 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) holds, up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) could still extend beyond 156.69 high. However, decisive break of 139.29/47 will suggest that such up trend is completed and turn outlook bearish. In that case, next target is 61.8% retracement at 135.43.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 139.57; (P) 139.87; (R1) 140.16; More…

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook as further rise is mildly in favor with 136.96 support intact. Choppy rise from 133.03 should target a test on 141.71 high. Though, break of 136.96 will will turn near term outlook bearish for deeper fall.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 134.44; (P) 135.33; (R1) 136.30; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral first and further decline is expected as long as 136.46 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 133.03 will resume the fall from 142.71 and target 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 131.11 next. However, firm break of 136.46 will indicate short term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen only as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.62; (P) 135.94; (R1) 136.51; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral with a temporary low formed at 135.38. Some consolidations could be seen but upside should be limited by 138.32 resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 135.38 will extend recent fall from 148.87 to retest 131.51 low.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY’s medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 186.91; (P) 187.39; (R1) 187.73; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment, and some more consolidations could be seen below 188.63. While deeper retreat cannot be ruled out, near term outlook will stay bullish as long as 184.44 support holds. On the upside, break of 188.63 will resume larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, as long as 184.44 support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (202 low) should still be in progress, next target is 195.86 (2015 high). However, firm break of 184.44 will now argue that a medium term top is formed, possibly in bearish divergence condition in D MACD, and bring deeper fall back to 178.02 support.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s late breach of 158.53 support indicate that fall from 165.99 is resuming. This decline is seen as part of the whole fall from 172.11. Initial bias is now on the downside for retesting 155.33 low next. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 163.32 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, as long as 38.2% retracement of 123.94 (2020 low) to 172.11 (2022 high) at 153.70 holds, medium term bullishness is retained. That is, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Break of 172.11 high to resume such up trend is expected at a later stage.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 153.06) holds, rise from 122.75 (2016 low) could still extend higher at a later stage to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rose further to 168.40 last week but formed a temporary top there and retreated. Initial bias remains neutral this week for consolidations. Downside of retreat should be contained above 159.02 support to bring another rally. On the upside, firm break of 168.40 will resume larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 could be the third leg the the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rise will remain in favor as long as 55 month EMA (now at 148.31) holds. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. will pave the way to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 140.20 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Further rally is mildly in favor as long as 137.84 support holds. Break of 140.20 will target 100% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 141.07. However, break of 137.84 will indicate short term topping, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for pull back, to 55 day EMA (now at 136.76) first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is still seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 142.71 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Near term outlook stays bullish as long as 138.24 support holds and further rise is expected. On the upside, break of 142.71 will target 161.8% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 148.36.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.44; (P) 142.12; (R1) 143.38; More…

GBP/JPY recovered after dipping to 140.83. Intraday bias is turned neutral first. In case of another fall, we’d still expect strong support from 139.31/77 (38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77) to bring rebound. On the upside, above 144.36 will bring retest of 147.95 resistance. However, sustained break of 139.77 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 134.71.

In the bigger picture, rise from 126.54 could either be the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low), or the start of a new up trend. In either case, further rally is expected as long as 139.31 support holds, into 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. Reaction from there should reveal which case it should be in. However, sustained break of 139.31 support will dampen this case and turn medium term outlook neutral first.

GBP/JPY recovered to 137.00 but couldn’t sustain above 136.46 resistance and retreated. Intraday bias stays neutral first. On the upside, break of 137.00 should now indicate short term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound back to retest 142.71. On the downside, break of 133.03 will resume the fall from 142.71 and target 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 131.11 next.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rebounded to 152.60 last week but retreated sharply since then. Initial bias is neutral this week first. On the downside, sustained break of 148.93 support will resume the fall from 158.19 to 145.10 medium term fibonacci level next. On the upside, though, break of 152.60 resistance will bring stronger rebound to 154.70 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 148.93 key structural support will retain medium term bullishness. Firm break of 158.19 high will resume whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Nevertheless, firm break of 148.93 will bring deeper correction to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10, and possibly further lower, as a correction to up trend from 123.94 at least.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 146.38) holds, we’d still favor more rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. But sustained trading below 55 month EMA will at least neutralize medium term bullishness and re-open the chance of revisiting 122.75 low (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 147.63; (P) 148.19; (R1) 149.02; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as range trading continues below 149.70. Deeper pull back cannot be ruled out. But outlook will stay remain bullish as long as 145.67 resistance turned support holds. On the upside, above 149.70 will target 153.84/156.69 resistance zone next. However, break of 145.67 will suggest that the rebound from 139.88 has completed and turn near term outlook bearish again.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY has successfully defended 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47). And, the rally from 122.36 (2016 low) is still intact. Such medium to long term rise would extend through 156.96 high. This will now be the preferred case as long as 145.67 near term support holds. However, break of 145.67 will turn focus back to 139.29/47 key support zone.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 149.05; (P) 149.44; (R1) 150.12; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY mildly on the upside as recovery from 147.04 could extend higher. But still, such choppy rise is seen as a correction. Hence, upside should be limited below 150.60 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption eventually. On the downside, below 148.16 will likely resume the decline from 153.84 through 147.04 to 144.97 low. Break there will resume the fall from 156.59 and target 100% projection of 156.59 to 144.97 from 153.84 at 142.22 next.

In the bigger picture, for now, we’re treating price actions from 156.59 as a corrective move. Therefore, while deeper fall is expected, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. There is still prospect of extending the rise from 122.36. However, considering that GBP/JPY failed to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 153.94), firm break of 139.29 will confirm trend reversal and turn outlook bearish.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged lower to 139.29 last week but formed a temporary low there and recovered. Initial bias is neutral this week first. Near term outlook remains bearish as long as 143.18 resistance holds and deeper decline is in favor. Below 139.29 will target 135.58 key support level. At this point, price actions from 148.42 are seen as a sideway consolidation pattern. Hence, we’ll expect strong support from 135.58 to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 143.18 will indicate short term reversal and turn bias back to the upside.

In the bigger picture, the sideway pattern from 148.42 is extending with another leg. We’d expect strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside. Medium term rise from 122.36 is still expected to resume later. And break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. However, firm break of 135.58/39 will dampen the bullish view and turn focus back to 122.36 low.

In the longer term picture, it remains to be confirmed if whole down trend from 195.86 has completed at 122.36 already and there is no confirmation yet. But in any case, firm break of 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.43 would pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. And with that, the 55 month EMA will be firmly taken out which suggests that price actions from 116.83 is indeed a sideway pattern that could last more than a decade.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside for 144.97 low. Break there will resume the fall from 156.59 and target 100% projection of 156.59 to 144.97 from 153.84 at 142.22 next. On the upside, above 148.38 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring recovery. But upside should be limited well below 150.60 support turned resistance to bring another decline.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. On the downside, break of 179.45 will resume the correction from 183.90 to 55 D EMA (now at 177.70). On the upside, firm break of 183.99 high will resume larger up trend to 187.36 projection level.

In the bigger picture, as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is expected to continue. On resumption, next target is 138.2% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 187.36, and then 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 172.11 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral first. Another rise is expected as long as 135.95 support holds. Break of 139.73 will extend the rise from 123.94 to 100% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 141.07. However, firm break of 135.95 will indicate short term topping and turn bias to the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 134.31).

In the bigger picture, we’re still seeing price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are seen as a sideway consolidation pattern. As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. however, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 155.33; (P) 155.70; (R1) 156.44; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in correction from 158.19 and outlook is unchanged. Deeper fall cannot be ruled out, but downside should be contained above 153.66 support to bring rebound. On the upside, above 158.19 will resume larger up trend from 123.94. Next target will be 61.8% projection of 136.96 to 156.05 from 148.93 at 160.72.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). The stay above 55 week EMA affirms medium term bullishness. Current rise should now target 61.8% retracement 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93 next. In any case, outlook will remain bullish as long as 148.93 structural support hold, even in case of deep pull back.
