GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 191.37; (P) 192.16; (R1) 192.85; More…..

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. Consolidation from 193.51 is probably extending with another falling leg. But further rally is expected as long as 190.02 support holds. On the upside, break of 193.51 will resume larger up trend to 195.86 long term resistance. On the downside, though, break of 190.02 will turn bias to the downside for 187.94 support instead.

In the bigger picture, current rally is part of the up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), and is in progress for 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high). Break of 187.94 support is needed to be the first sign of medium term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

Range trading continues in GBP/JPY and intraday bias remains neutral. On the downside, break of 164.02 should resume the whole fall from 172.11 through 163.02 support. Nevertheless, on the upside, break of 168.99 resistance will bring stronger rebound to retest 172.11 high instead.

In the bigger picture, medium term upside momentum has been diminishing as seen in bearish divergence condition in weekly MACD. Sustained break of 55 week EMA (now at 160.66) will argue that it’s already correcting whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Nevertheless, before that, such up trend could still extend through 172.11 high.

At this point, with 149.11 minor support intact, further rise is still mildly in favor in GBP/JPY for 152.82 resistance. Firm break there will confirm resumption of medium term rise from 122.36 and target 163.87 resistance next. On the downside, break of 149.11 minor support will turn bias to the downside and extend the correction from 152.82. In that case, we’d expect strong support from 61.8% retracement of 139.29 to 152.82 at 144.45 to bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 122.36 is still expected to resume after corrective pull back from 152.82 completes. Firm break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, break of 139.29 will indicate rejection from 150.43 key fibonacci level. And the three wave corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.

GBP/JPY’s fall from 147.95 is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the downside for retesting 126.54 low. On the upside, break of 134.31 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) is not completed yet. Break of 126.54 should indicate that such down trend is resuming through 122.75 low.

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook and further rise is expected with 144.01 minor support intact. Current up trend from 133.03 should target 147.95 key medium term structural resistance. Sustained break there will carry larger bullish implications. On the downside, however, break of 144.01 minor support would now indicate short term topping, and turn bias to the downside for deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise of 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the sideway pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Break of 147.95 will target 156.59 resistance (2018 high). On the downside, break of 133.03 support is needed to confirm completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, further rise will remain in favor even in case of pull back.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 128.11. Some more consolidations could be seen but upside should be limited below 133.85 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 128.10 will target 122.36 low next.

In the bigger picture, outlook remains clearly bearish with GBP/JPY staying well below 55 week and 55 month EMA. Medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Next target is 122.36 (2016 low). We’d be cautious on bottoming there. But break of 135.66 resistance is needed to be the first sign of reversal. Sustained break of 122.36 will target next key level at 116.83 (2011 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 188.20; (P) 188.70; (R1) 189.42; More…..

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral for the moment. On the downside, below 187.94 will resume the decline from 191.29 to 38.2% retracement of 178.32 to 191.29 at 186.33. Sustained break there will raise the chance of larger scale correction and target 61.8% retracement at 183.27. On the upside, though, firm break of 55 4H EMA (now at 189.33) will retain near term bullishness and bring retest of 191.29 high.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 178.32 support holds. Next target is 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high).

Outlook in GBP/JPY is unchanged and intraday bias stays neutral first. Corrective rebound from 123.94 could have already completed at 135.74 already. On the downside, break of 131.90 will resume the fall from 135.74 and target a retest on 123.94 low. On the upside, in case of another rise, upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 144.95 to 123.94 at 136.92 to bring near term reversal.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook. With 150.36 minor support intact, further rise is in favor. Above 152.07 will target 153.39 first. Break will resume medium term rally. On the downside, below 150.36 minor support will turn bias back to the downside and extend the correction from 153.39. But we’d look for strong support from 146.96 to bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, outlook is mixed up a bit with last week’s sharp decline. But still, as long as 146.96 key support holds, medium term outlook remains bullish. Rise from 122.36 is in favor to extend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate trend reversal. And the corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.

GBP/JPY is trading in range of 138.53/142.79 and intraday bias stays neutral for the moment. Overall, price actions from 148.42 are seen as a corrective pattern. Below 138.53 will bring deeper fall, possibly through 136.44 support. But strong support could be seen at 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to bring rebound. Above 142.79 will turn bias back to the upside for 144.77 and above.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern with a test on 122.36 low next. GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rose to 158.19 last week but retreated notably since then. Initial bias is now on the downside this week for pull back towards 55 day EMA (now at 152.90). On the upside, break of 158.19 will resume larger up trend from 123.94.Next target will be 61.8% projection of 136.96 to 156.05 from 148.93 at 160.72.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). The stay above 55 week EMA affirms medium term bullishness. Current rise should now target 61.8% retracement 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93 next. In any case, outlook will remain bullish as long as 148.93 structural support hold, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, GBP/JPY could have set up a long term up trend already with break of 156.69 resistance, and the stay above 55 month EMA. Current rise from 122.75 could target a test on 195.86 (2015 high).

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY’s medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY’s decline from 156.59 accelerates to as low as 151.19 so far. Brea of 151.95 support indicates short term topping. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 150.18 support first. Considering bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, break of 150.18 will suggest trend reversal and bring deeper fall through 146.96 support. On the upside, above 152.78 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, as long as 146.96 key support holds, medium term outlook remains bullish. Rise from 122.36 is in favor to extend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate trend reversal. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 and then 61.8% retracement at 135.43.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 188.63 medium term top are currently seen as a correction to the up trend from 148.93 (2022 low) only. As long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in favor to resume through 188.63 at a later stage.

Such decline is seen as a correction and we’d look for strong support from 144.45 to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 149.73 support turned resistance will argue that the pull back is completed and turn bias back to the upside for retesting 152.82 high. However, sustained break of 144.45 will put 139.29 key support in focus.
