GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.56; (P) 138.96; (R1) 139.51; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 140.70 resistance will resume the choppy rebound from 133.03. Intraday bias will be turned to the upside for retesting 142.71 high. On the downside, break of 137.90 will revive the case that corrective rise from 133.03 has completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 134.40 support.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 163.22; (P) 164.20; (R1) 165.32; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, firm break of 165.26 minor resistance will argue that corrective pattern from 168.67 has completed. Further rise should be seen to retest 168.67 high next. On the downside, break of 160.37 will bring deeper fall back towards 155.57 support.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s sharp decline suggests that it’s already in correction to rise from 136.96 to 156.05. Initial bias stays on the downside this week. Deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 136.96 to 156.05 at 148.75. We’d expect strong support from there to bring rebound. On the upside, above 153.75 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus is now on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 149.03 support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, the strong break of 55 months EMA was an early sign of long term bullish reversal. Firm break of 156.69 resistance should now confirm the start of an up trend for 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 197.22; (P) 199.20; (R1) 200.63; More

There is no sign of bottoming in GBP/JPY yet as fall from 208.09 continues today. Intraday bias stays on the downside. Sustained trading below 38.2% retracement of 178.32 to 208.09 at 196.71 will argue that larger scale correction is under way to 185.49 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 199.80 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, considering bearish divergence condition in W MACD, 208.09 might be a medium term top and fall from there could already be correcting whole up trend from 148.93 (2022 low). Risk will now stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 201.00). Sustained break of 196.71 will pave the way to 38.2% retracement of 148.93 to 208.09 at 185.49.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rose further to 148.09 last week but lost momentum ahead of 148.42 resistance. Considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, a short term top is in place. Initial bias is neutral this week for more consolidation. Deeper pull back might be seen. But in that case, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 135.58 to 148.09 at 143.31 and bring rise resumption. Break of 148.42 will target 150.42 long term fibonacci level first. Break there will pave the way to 100% projection of 122.36 to 148.42 from 135.58 at 161.64.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, rise from 122.36 bottom should be developing into a medium term move. Break of 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42 should pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. This will now be the favored case as long as 135.58 support holds.

In the longer term picture, based on the impulsive structure of the decline from 195.86 to 122.36, such fall should not be completed yet. But we will now pay close attention to the structure of the rise from 122.36 to determine whether it’s a corrective move, or an impulsive move. That would decide whether a break of 116.83 low would be seen.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 186.40; (P) 187.27; (R1) 188.65; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for retesting 188.63 high. Firm break there will confirm larger up trend resumption. On the downside, below 186.33 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first. But further rally is expected as long as 184.15 resistance turned support holds.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 188.63 medium term top are seen as a correction to the up trend from 148.93 (2022 low) only. As long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in favor to resume through 188.63 at a later stage. Next target will be 195.86 long term resistance.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 154.88; (P) 155.47; (R1) 155.80; More…

GBP/JPY’s break of 154.85 support argues that rebound from 148.94 has completed at 157.74, ahead of 158.19 high. Fall from 157.74 is seen as the third leg of the consolidative pattern from 158.19. Intraday bias is back on the downside. Sustained break of 55 day EMA (now at 154.11) will target 148.94 support next. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 157.74 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 148.93 key structural support retains medium term bullishness. Firm break of 158.19 high will resume whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. Nevertheless, firm break of 148.93 will bring deeper correction to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10, and possibly further lower, as a correction to up trend from 123.94 at least.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 160.83; (P) 161.32; (R1) 162.27; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is back on the upside with break of 161.51 resistance. Sustained trading above 55 day EMA (now at 162.09) should pave the way to 169.26/172.11 resistance zone. On the downside, though, below 159.17 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again.

In the bigger picture, as long as 163.02 support turned resistance holds, decline from 172.11 medium term top is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70. Sustained break there will raise the change of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 142.34. Nevertheless, break of 163.02 support turned resistance will argue that the decline has completed, and retain medium term bullishness.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 140.06; (P) 140.29; (R1) 140.61; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 141.50 is still in progress. Another fall cannot be ruled out, but downside should be contained above 135.74 resistance turned support to bring another rally. On the upside, break of 141.50 will resume the rise from 126.54 to for 148.87 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low) is still in progress with rise from 126.54 as the third leg. Further rise should be seen back to 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. For now, we’d expect strong resistance from there to limit upside. And, this will remain the favored case as long as 130.42 support holds.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY stayed in consolidation from 126.54 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. On the upside, above 130.69 will bring stronger rebound. But upside should be by 38.2% retracement of 148.87 to 126.54 at 135.07 to bring down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 126.54 will resume larger down trend to 122.61 support next.

In the bigger picture, outlook remains clearly bearish with GBP/JPY staying well below 55 week and 55 month EMA. Medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Next target is 122.36 (2016 low). We’d be cautious on bottoming there. But break of 135.66 resistance is needed to be the first sign of reversal. Sustained break of 122.36 will target next key level at 116.83 (2011 low).

In the longer term picture, for now, we’re treating price actions from 122.36 as a corrective pattern. Hence, strong support could be seen at 122.36 to bring rebound before the pattern completes. However, sustained break will raise the chance of resuming long term down trend from 251.09 (2007 high). Next downside target will be 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.36 from 156.59 at 111.16.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.73; (P) 145.48; (R1) 146.36; More…

GBP/JPY’s rebound from 144.37 continues today and focus is back on 146.46 minor resistance. Firm break will suggests that rebound from 143.18 is still in progress. Intraday bias will be turned to the upside for 148.10 resistance and above. On the downside, below 144.37 will target 143.18 first. Break will resume larger decline from 156.59 and target 139.25/47 cluster support level.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 153.84 should confirm that the correction is completed and target 156.59 and above to resume the medium term up trend.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 165.39; (P) 166.85; (R1) 167.73; More…

GBP/JPY is extending the consolidation from 172.11 and intraday bias stays neutral first. Overall, further rally is mildly in favor with 164.95 support intact. On the upside, break of 172.11 will resume larger up trend. However, break of 164.95 will bring deeper pull back to 159.71 support and below.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), as part of the trend from 122.75 (2016 low) is still in progress. Further rise would be seen to 161.8% projection of 122.75 to 156.59 (2018 high) from 123.94 at 178.69. This will now remain the favored case as long as 148.93 support holds.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY dropped to as low as 143.18 last week but formed a short term bottom there and recovered. Initial bias remains neutral this week for consolidation. In case of further rebound, upside should be limited by 147.04 support turned resistance to bring reversal. On the downside, below 144.52 minor support will bring retest of 143.18 first. Break will resume the decline from 153.84.

In the bigger picture, for now, we’re treating price actions from 156.59 as a corrective move. Therefore, while deeper fall is expected, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. There is still prospect of extending the rise from 122.36. However, considering that GBP/JPY failed to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 153.94), firm break of 139.29 will confirm trend reversal and turn outlook bearish.

In the longer term picture, the failure to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 153.94) is mixing up the outlook. Nonetheless, as long as 139.29 holds, rise from 122.26 is in favor to extend to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 (2016 low) at 159.11, and possibly further to 61.8% retracement at 167.78 before completion. However, firm break of 139.29 will turn focus back to 116.83/122.36 support zone instead.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rose to 166.29 last week but retreated since then. Initial bias is neutral this week first. On the upside, break of 166.31 resistance will argue that larger up trend might be ready to resume. Retest of 168.67 should be seen next. On the downside, however, break of 164.16 will turn bias to the downside, to extend the corrective pattern from 168.67 with another fall.

This will remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 could be the third leg the the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rise will remain in favor as long as 55 month EMA (now at 150.75) holds. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. will pave the way to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s strong rebound last week argues that correction from 156.06 has completed at 151.28 already. But since a temporary top was formed at 155.13, initial bias is neutral this week first. On the upside, break of 155.13 will bring retest of 156.05 high. Nevertheless, break of 153.07 minor support will extend the corrective pattern with another fall to 151.28 and below. But in that case, we’d expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 136.96 to 156.05 at 148.75 to bring rebound.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY extended the corrective pattern from 168.40 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Break of 159.59 will extend the correction from 168.40 lower. But downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 150.95 to 168.40 at 157.61 to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 168.40 will resume larger up trend.

This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 could be the third leg the the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rise will remain in favor as long as 55 month EMA (now at 148.31) holds. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. will pave the way to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY dropped sharply to 153.34 last week but recovered. Initial bias is neutral this week first. But further decline is expected with 155.48 resistance intact. Fall from 158.04 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 158.19. Break of 152.88 will target 148.94 support next. However, firm break of 155.48 will dampen this view and turn bias back to the upside for 158.04 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 158.19 are seen as developing into a consolidation pattern to up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10 to bring rebound. Firm break of 158.19 will resume the up trend to long term fibonacci level at 167.93. However, sustained break of 145.10 will raise the chance of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 137.02.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 147.27) holds, we’d still favor more rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. But sustained trading below 55 month EMA will at least neutralize medium term bullishness and re-open the chance of revisiting 122.75 low (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 188.70; (P) 189.31; (R1) 189.87; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point, for consolidations below 190.05. Break 190.05 will resume larger up trend. However, break of 187.83 will turn bias to the downside for deeper correction back to 185.21 support instead.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) in in progress. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 178.32 support holds. Next target is 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.44; (P) 145.09; (R1) 145.58; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 144.02 is still in progress. As long as 145.99 resistance holds, further decline is mildly in favor. On the downside, break of 144.02 will resume the fall from 149.48 and target 139.39/47 key support zone. On the upside, above 145.99 support turned resistance could bring stronger rebound. But near tem outlook will be neutral at best as long as 149.70 key resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, as long as 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) holds, up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) would still extend beyond 156.69 high. However, decisive break of 139.29/47 will suggest that such up trend is completed and turn outlook bearish. In that case, next target is 61.8% retracement at 135.43.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.76; (P) 139.75; (R1) 140.30; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside for 136.44 support and below. Current decline from 144.77 is seen as the third leg of consolidation pattern from 148.42. Hence, we’d expect strong support from 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 141.96 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside. However, sustained trading below 135.39 will argue that whole rise from 122.36 is completed and will turn outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern with a test on 122.36 low next. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement at 167.78.
