GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 164.06; (P) 164.80; (R1) 166.17; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays on the upside as rise from 148.93 is in progress for retesting 169.10 high. Strong resistance could be seen there to limit upside, at least on first attempt. On the downside, below 159.41 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 148.93 again. However, firm break of 169.10 will confirm resumption of larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, strong support from 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 169.10 at 151.84 suggests that price actions from 169.10 are developing into a corrective pattern only. That is, rise from 123.94 (2020 low) should resume at a later stage. This will now remain the favored case as long as 148.93 support holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 181.65; (P) 182.23; (R1) 182.61; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. The favored case is still that correction from 186.75 has completed at 178.02. Above 183.79 will resume the rise from 178.02 to retest 186.75 high. However, break of 181.00 will dampen this view, and turn bias back to the downside for 178.02 instead.

In the bigger picture, fall from 186.75 is seen as a corrective move only. As long as 176.29 support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (202 low) should still be in progress. Break of 186.75 will target 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 176.29 will confirm medium term topping, and bring lengthier and deeper consolidations.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 154.40; (P) 154.78; (R1) 155.32; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for retesting 156.05 high. Firm break there will resume larger up trend from 123.94. Nevertheless, consolidation from 156.05 could still extend with another falling leg. Break of 153.07 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 151.28 again.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus is now on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 149.03 support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rebounded strongly last week but failed to break through 140.70 resistance. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. On the upside, firm break of 140.70 will resume the choppy rebound from 133.03 for retesting 141.71 high. On the downside, though, break of 136.78 will turn bias to the downside for 134.40 support first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

In the longer term picture, repeated rejection by 55 month EMA indicate long term bearishness in the cross. Down trend from 251.09 (2007 high) should eventually resume through 122.75 to 116.83 (2011 low) and below. However, sustained break of 55 month EMA (now at 143.38) will dampen this view and could open up further rise back to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s pull back from 148.09 extended to 143.34 last week. But the cross drew support from 38.2% retracement of 135.58 to 148.09 at 143.31 and recovered. Initial bias is neutral this week first. On the upside, above 145.78 will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 148.09 first. Meanwhile, break of 143.34 will extend the pull back from 148.09 to 61.8% retracement at 140.35. Overall, we’d still expect the rise from 122.36 to resume after pull back from 148.09 completes. Break of 148.09 will target 150.42 long term fibonacci level first.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, rise from 122.36 bottom should be developing into a medium term move. Break of 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42 should pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. This will now be the favored case as long as 135.58 support holds.

In the longer term picture, based on the impulsive structure of the decline from 195.86 to 122.36, such fall should not be completed yet. But we will now pay close attention to the structure of the rise from 122.36 to determine whether it’s a corrective move, or an impulsive move. That would decide whether a break of 116.83 low would be seen.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. We’re holding on to the view that corrective rise from 144.97 should have completed at 153.84 already. Hence, another fall is expected in the cross. Break of 150.60 will target 148.37 support first. Break will bring retest of 144.97 low. However, firm break of 153.84 will invalidate our view and extend the rise from 144.97 towards 156.59 high.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 156.59 are viewed as a corrective pattern. For now, we’d expect at least one more fall for 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 before the consolidation completed. Though, firm break of 156.59 will resume whole up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 at 159.11 next.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.62; (P) 145.57; (R1) 147.27; More

GBP/JPY’s rise from 139.29 is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the upside for 147.76/148.42 resistance zone. Decisive break there will confirm resumption of medium term rebound from 122.36. On the downside, below 145.32 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. Overall, for the moment, GBP/JPY is still bounded in sideway consolidation pattern from 148.42.

In the bigger picture, the sideway pattern from 148.42 is still unfolding. In case of deeper fall, we’d expect strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside. Medium term rise from 122.36 is expected to resume later. And break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. However, firm break of 135.58/39 will dampen the bullish view and turn focus back to 122.36 low.

GBP/JPY recovered after hitting 151.14 and intraday bias is turned neutral again. On the downside, below 151.14 will bring deeper fall back to retest 148.43. On the upside, though, break of 153.42 resistance will resume the rebound from 148.43 to retest 156.05 high.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus remains on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, sustained break of 149.03 support, however, will argue that rise from 123.94 has completed. Further break of 142.71 would open up the bearish case for retesting 122.75 low.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.33; (P) 138.83; (R1) 139.80; More…

GBP/JPY’s break of 138.86 minor resistance suggest that pull back from 140.31 has completed at 137.19. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 140.31 first. Firm break there will resume whole rebound from 133.03 for retesting 142.71 resistance next. On the downside, break of 137.19 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 134.40 support instead.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 196.27; (P) 196.82; (R1) 197.70; More..

GBP/JPY is extending consolidation from 200.53 and intraday bias remains neutral. Outlook will remain bullish as long as 193.51 resistance turned support holds. Firm break of 200.53 will resume larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, current rally is part of the up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Sustained break of 61.8% projection of 155.33 to 188.63 from 178.32 at 198.89 will pave the way to 100% projection at 211.65. Break of 189.97 support is needed to be the first sign of medium term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 136.57; (P) 137.36; (R1) 138.26; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remain son the downside for the moment. Current downside acceleration and break of 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 138.46 suggests that whole corrective rise from 122.36 has completed at 148.42. Deeper fall should be seen to 61.8% retracement at 132.31 and below. On the upside, break of 142.16 support turned resistance is needed to indicate completion of such decline. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are seen as developing into a corrective pattern. Upside is so far limited by 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.4 for setting the medium term range. At this point, we don’t expect a break of 122.36 in near term and the corrective pattern would extend for a while.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 139.41; (P) 140.06; (R1) 140.63; More…

GBP/JPY’s break of 138.23 support argues that corrective rise from 133.03 has completed, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. The pattern from 142.71 might be starting another falling leg. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 137.19 support first. Firm break there will add more credence to this bearish case and target 133.03/134.40 support zone. This will remain the favored case as long as 140.70 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.42; (P) 136.00; (R1) 136.43; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral as it lost momentum after hitting 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 135.53. Further fall will remain mildly in favor as long as 138.38 minor resistance holds. Sustained break of 135.53 will suggest that whole rebound from 123.94 has completed. Deeper fall could then be seen to 61.8% retracement at 131.11 next. Though, strong rebound from current level, followed by break of 138.38 minor resistance, will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 142.71 instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is still seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 164.73; (P) 165.19; (R1) 165.91; More…

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook and intraday bias remains on the upside for retesting 168.67. Decisive break there will resume larger up trend. On the downside, however, break of 159.97 will bring deeper fall back towards 155.57 support instead.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 148.92; (P) 149.43; (R1) 150.38; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. Choppy rise from 144.97 is seen as a corrective move. We’d expect strong resistance from 150.92 (50% retracement of 156.59 to 144.97 at 150.78) to limit upside and bring fall resumption. On the downside, below 147.65 minor support will bring retest of 144.97 low first. However, sustained break of 150.92 will indicate near term reversal and pave the way back to retest 156.69 high.

In the bigger picture, the case for medium term reversal continues to build up. There is bearish divergence condition in daily MACD. 146.96 support was taken out. And GBP/JPY was rejected by 55 month EMA. Break of 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 135.43 and below. This will now be the preferred case as long as 150.92 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 185.41; (P) 186.04; (R1) 187.18; More…

Prior breach of 186.45 indicates that GBP/JPY is resuming the larger up trend. Intraday bias is back on the upside. Next target is 61.8% projection of 158.24 to 183.99 from 176.29 at 192.20. On the downside, however, break of 184.53 support should now indicate short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for deeper correction.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Next target is 195.86 (2015 high). This will now remain the favored case as long as 176.29 support holds, even in case of deeper pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 132.98; (P) 133.85; (R1) 135.58; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains mildly on the upside as corrective rise from 123.94 is in progress. Upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 144.95 to 123.94 at 136.92 to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 129.85 minor support will bring retest of 123.94 low first. However, sustained break of 136.92 will raise the chance of trend reversal and turn focus to 144.95 resistance.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 166.60; (P) 166.98; (R1) 167.66; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral and sideway trading continues. On the downside, break of 164.02 should resume the whole fall from 172.11 through 163.02 support. Nevertheless, on the upside, break of 168.99 resistance will bring stronger rebound to retest 172.11 high instead.

In the bigger picture, medium term upside momentum has been diminishing as seen in bearish divergence condition in weekly MACD. Sustained break of 55 week EMA (now at 160.66) will argue that it’s already correcting whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Nevertheless, before that, such up trend could still extend through 172.11 high.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 153.51; (P) 154.17; (R1) 154.79; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral for the moment. Some consolidations could be seen below 154.80. But downside should be contained well above 149.03 to bring another rally. On the upside, break of 154.80 will extend larger up trend to 61.8% projection of 133.03 to 153.39 from 149.03 at 161.61 next.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 151.11; (P) 152.26; (R1) 152.89; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation below 153.39 temporary top. Further rally is expected as long as 149.74 support holds. Break of 153.39 will resume the medium term up trend and target 61.8% projection of 139.29 to 152.82 from 146.96 at 155.32. However, break of 149.74 will dampen our bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 146.96 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that medium term rise from 122.36 is resuming. Sustained trading above 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate rejection from 150.43 key fibonacci level. And the three wave corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.
