GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 129.11; (P) 130.26; (R1) 130.87; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside at this point. Corrective rebound from 123.94 should have completed at 135.74. Deeper fall should be seen to 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 135.74 at 128.44. Firm break there will target a test on 123.94 low. On the upside, above 131.41 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

With 139.19 minor support intact, intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for 144.77 resistance. Consolidation pattern from 148.42 should have completed three waves down to 135.58, after hitting 135.39 fibonacci level. Break of 144.77 should extend whole rise from 122.36 through 148.42. On the downside, break of 139.19 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. As long as 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 holds, another rising leg would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42 and possibly above. However, firm break of 135.39 will bring retest of 122.36, with prospect of resuming the larger down trend from 195.86.

GBP/JPY is losing some upside momentum as seen in 4 hour MACD. But further rise is expected with 153.02 minor support intact. Firm break of 154.70 should confirm the bullish case that correction from 158.19 has completed at 148.94, after defending 148.93 key support. Further rally should then be seen to retest 158.19 next. On the downside, however, break of 153.02 minor support will mix up the near term outlook and turn intraday bias neutral again first.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 148.93 key structural support will retain medium term bullishness. Firm break of 158.19 high will resume whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. Nevertheless, firm break of 148.93 will bring deeper correction to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10, and possibly further lower, as a correction to up trend from 123.94 at least

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 145.37; (P) 145.94; (R1) 146.35; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. On the downside, decisive break of 143.72 support will indicate near term reversal, after rejection by 149.48 key resistance. In that case, intraday bias will be turned to the downside for 141.00 support first. On the upside, decisive break of 149.48 key resistance will carry larger bullish implication and target 156.58 resistance next.

In the bigger picture, focus is now staying on 149.98 key resistance. Decisive break there should confirm that that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Rise from 131.51 is then seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 122.36 (2016 low). GBP/JPY should then target 156.59 and above. However, rejection by 149.98 will retain medium term bearishness and could extend the fall from 156.59 through 131.51 to 122.36.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains mildly on the upside, as rebound form 148.93 would target 152.82 resistance. Sustained break there will suggest that correction from 156.05 has completed, and turn near term outlook bullish for retesting this high. On the downside, break of 150.70 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 149.03 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 149.03 support holds, such rise would still resume at a later stage. However, sustained break of 149.03 support will indicate rejection by 156.59. Fall from 156.05 would be at least correcting the whole rise from 123.94. Deeper fall would be seen back 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 156.05 at 143.78 first.

GBP/JPY’s rally is in progress today and intraday bias stays on the upside for 168.40 high. Firm break there will resume larger up trend. On the downside, below 162.88 minor support will mix up the outlook and turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds, even in case of deep pull back. However, firm break of 150.95 will indicate rejection by 167.93, and bearish trend reversal.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 146.88; (P) 147.34; (R1) 148.12; More…

GBP/JPY’s rally resumes after brief retreat and intraday bias is back on the upside. Sustained break of 147.95 structural resistance will carry larger bullish implications. Up trend from 123.94 should then target 100% projection of 123.94 to 142.71 from 133.03 at 151.80 next. On the downside, though, break of 146.39 minor support will indicate short term topping, and turn bias to the downside for pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the sideway pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Break of 147.95 will target 156.59 resistance (2018 high). On the downside, break of 133.03 support is needed to confirm completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, further rise will remain in favor even in case of pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.61; (P) 139.80; (R1) 140.68; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside as fall from 148.42 short term top is in progress. Further decline should be seen to 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 138.46. As note before, rise from 122.36 is seen as a corrective move. Sustained trading below 138.46 and downside acceleration will indicate that such correction is finished too. And in that case, deeper fall should be seen to 61.8% retracement at 132.31 and below. On the upside, break of 142.16 support turned resistance is needed to indicate completion of the fall from 148.42. Otherwise, near term outlook stays bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, the down trend from 195.86 top (2015 high) should have made a medium term bottom at 122.36 after hitting 100% projection of 195.86 to 154.70 from 163.87 at 122.71. Price actions from there are expected to develop into a medium term corrective pattern. Upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.4 for setting the medium term range.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 153.04; (P) 153.77; (R1) 154.81; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside at this point. As noted before, corrective pattern from 156.05 should have completed after defending 149.03 key support. Further rise would be seen to retest 156.05 high. On the downside, below 152.69 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 149.03 support holds, such rise would still resume at a later stage. However, sustained break of 149.03 support will indicate rejection by 156.59 (2018 high). Fall from 156.05 would at least be correcting the whole rise from 123.94 (2020 low). Deeper fall would be seen back 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 156.05 at 143.78 first.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.71; (P) 142.24; (R1) 142.97; More

GBP/JPY rebounded further today but stays below 143.18 resistance. With 143.18 intact, near term outlook stays bearish and deeper decline is in favor. Below 141.40 minor support will turn bias back to the downside first. Break of 139.29 will target 135.58 key support level. At this point, price actions from 148.42 are seen as a sideway consolidation pattern. Hence, we’ll expect strong support from 135.58 to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 143.18 will indicate short term reversal and turn bias back to the upside.

In the bigger picture, the sideway pattern from 148.42 is extending with another leg. We’d expect strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside. Medium term rise from 122.36 is still expected to resume later. And break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. However, firm break of 135.58/39 will dampen the bullish view and turn focus back to 122.36 low.

GBP/JPY’s rally continues today and hits as high as 153.73 so far. As noted before, corrective pattern from 156.05 should have completed after defending 149.03 key support. Intraday bias stays on the upside for retesting 156.05 high. On the downside, break of 152.13 resistance turned support is needed to indicate completion of the rise from 149.20. Otherwise, we’d expect further rally ahead, even in case of retreat.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.45; (P) 142.09; (R1) 143.14; More…

GBP/JPY’s break of 143.05 minor resistance suggests that corrective fall from 147.95 has completed at 141.15. Intraday bias is turned back to the upside for retesting 147.95 high. On the downside, break of 141.15 will target 38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77.

In the bigger picture, rise from 126.54 could either be the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low), or the start of a new up trend. In either case, further rally is expected as long as 139.31 support holds, into 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. Reaction from there should reveal which case it should be in. Rejection from there will extend long term range trading. Decisive break of 156.69 will carry long term bullish implications.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 134.49; (P) 134.75; (R1) 134.94; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 133.85 temporary low. Upside of recovery should be limited by 136.05 resistance to bring fall resumption. Break of 133.85 will extend the decline from 148.87 to retest 131.51 low. Though, break of 136.05 will indicate short term bottoming and bring stronger rebound to 137.78 resistance.

In the bigger picture, medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s up trend continued last week and there is no sign of topping yet. Initial bias remains on the upside this week for 61.8% projection of 178.71 to 188.90 from 185.21 at 191.50. Firm break there will target 100% projection at 195.40. On the downside, below 189.83 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 178.32 support holds. Next target is 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high).

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 (2016 low) is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rally will remain in favor as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds. Break of 195.86 (2015 high) is possible. But strong resistance could be seen from 61.8% retracement of 251.09 (2007 high) to 116.83 at 199.80 to limit upside, at least on first attempt.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.64; (P) 136.05; (R1) 136.55; More…

GBP/JPY’s fall from 142.71 resumes with a firm break of 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 135.53. Intraday bias is now back on the downside. Current development argues that whole corrective rebound from 123.94 has completed. Further fall would be seen to 61.8% retracement at 131.11 next. On the upside, above 136.58 minor resistance will turn bias neutral and bring consolidations, before staging another fall.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is still seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 134.73; (P) 135.29; (R1) 135.63; More…

GBP/JPY’s decline resumes by breaking 135.08 temporary low and reaches as low as 133.96 so far. Intraday bias is back on the downside. Current fall from 148.87 should target 131.51 low next. On the upside, break of 136.50 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

GBP/JPY rose further to 148.09 last week but lost momentum ahead of 148.42 resistance. Considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, a short term top is in place. Initial bias is neutral this week for more consolidation. Deeper pull back might be seen. But in that case, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 135.58 to 148.09 at 143.31 and bring rise resumption. Break of 148.42 will target 150.42 long term fibonacci level first. Break there will pave the way to 100% projection of 122.36 to 148.42 from 135.58 at 161.64.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, rise from 122.36 bottom should be developing into a medium term move. Break of 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42 should pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. This will now be the favored case as long as 135.58 support holds.

In the longer term picture, based on the impulsive structure of the decline from 195.86 to 122.36, such fall should not be completed yet. But we will now pay close attention to the structure of the rise from 122.36 to determine whether it’s a corrective move, or an impulsive move. That would decide whether a break of 116.83 low would be seen.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s up trend continued last week but lost momentum after hitting 152.21. Initial bias is turned neutral first. The cross is now pressing 100% projection of 123.94 to 142.71 from 133.03 at 151.80 next and channel resistance. Break of 147.38 support will indicate short term topping and turn bias to the downside for correction. Nevertheless, sustained trading above 151.80 will indicate upside acceleration. Next target is key resistance at 156.59.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, the strong break of 55 months EMA (now at 143.95) is a early sign of long term bullish reversal. Firm break of 156.69 resistance should now confirm the start of an up trend for 195.86 (2015 high).

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral with recovery from 152.59. On the downside, below 152.59 will likely extend the corrective pattern from 156.05 through 151.28 support. In this case, we’d expect strong support from 38.2% retracement of 136.96 to 156.05 at 148.75 to bring rebound. On the upside, above 155.13 will target a test on 156.05 high instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus is now on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 149.03 support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 150.45; (P) 151.12; (R1) 151.63; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral. As long as 149.74 support holds, outlook remains bullish in the cross. Break of 153.39 will resume the medium term up trend and target 61.8% projection of 139.29 to 152.82 from 146.96 at 155.32. However, break of 149.74 will dampen our bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 146.96 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that medium term rise from 122.36 is resuming. Sustained trading above 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate rejection from 150.43 key fibonacci level. And the three wave corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.
