GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 153.38; (P) 153.73; (R1) 154.03; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in range above 152.35 and intraday bias remains neutral first. With 154.70 resistance intact, further decline is expected . On the downside, break of 152.35 will resume the decline from 158.19 to 148.93 key support next. On the upside, however, break of 154.70 will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 158.19 high instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Further rally is still expected as long as 148.93 support holds. However, firm break of 148.93 will argue that the medium term trend has reversed and bring deeper fall back to 142.71 resistance turned support first.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s rally continued last week to 142.71 but retreated since then. Initial bias is neutral this week for some consolidations first. Further rise is expected as long as 138.24 support holds. Break of 142.71 will target 138.2% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 145.57 next. On the downside, however, break of 138.24 support will confirm short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 137.75).

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is still seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

In the longer term picture, repeated rejection by 55 month EMA indicate long term bearishness in the cross. Down trend from 251.09 (2007 high) should eventually resume through 122.75 to 116.83 (2011 low) and below. However, sustained break of 55 month EMA (now at 144.65) will dampen this view and could open up further rise back to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rose further to 140.20 last week but quickly lost momentum above 139.73 resistance. Initial bias is turned neutral for some consolidations first. Further rally is expected as long as 137.84 support holds. Rise from 123.94 has just resumed and break of 140.20 will target 100% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 141.07. However, break of 137.84 will indicate short term topping, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for pull back.

However, sustained break of 55 month EMA (now at 144.90) will dampen this view and could open up further rise back to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 160.05; (P) 160.77; (R1) 161.69; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside and outlook is unchanged. Current up trend should target 61.8% projection of 136.96 to 158.19 from 150.95 at 164.07. next. On the downside, however, break of 159.01 minor support will tun intraday bias neutral, and bring consolidations first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress, and notable support from 55 week EMA affirms medium term bullishness. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93. Sustained break there will be a long term bullish signal. This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s strong rebound last week suggested that that it has defended 143.72 key support again. More importantly, the rise from 131.51 is possibly not completed yet. Initial bias is now on the upside this week for 147.01 resistance first. Break will solidify this bullish case and target 148.87/149.48 resistance zone next. On the downside, though, break of 144.80 minor support will turn focus back to 143.72 key support.

In the bigger picture, focus is staying on 149.98 key resistance. Decisive break there should confirm that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Rise from 131.51 is then seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 122.36 (2016 low). GBP/JPY should then target 156.59 and above. However, rejection by 149.98 will retain medium term bearishness and could extend the fall from 156.59 through 131.51 to 122.36.

In the longer term picture, the rise from 122.36 (2016 low) to 156.59 (2018 high) doesn’t display a clear impulsive structure. Thus, we’re treating price actions from 122.36 as a corrective pattern. In case of an extension, strong resistance is likely to be seen at 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.36 at 159.11 to limit upside. On the downside, break of 131.51 support will bring 122.26 low back into focus.

Outlook in GBP/JPY remains unchanged as consolidation from 153.39 is extending. Intraday bias stays neutral first. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 148.50 support to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 153.39 will resume the whole rise from 123.94 to 156.59 long term resistance next. However, firm break of 148.50 will bring deeper correction to channel support (now at 142.87).

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

A temporary low is in place at 144.37 and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Further fall is expected with 146.46 minor resistance intact. Below 144.37 will target 143.18 first. Break will will resume larger decline from 156.59 and target 139.25/47 cluster support level. Nonetheless, above 146.46 will turn focus back to 148.10 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 153.84 should confirm that the correction is completed and target 156.59 and above to resume the medium term up trend.

GBP/JPY’s decline accelerated further to as low as 131.51 and broke 135.43 fibonacci level. Some consolidation would likely be seen after climax selling. But outlook will stay bearish as long as 138.04 minor resistance holds. Sustained break of 135.43 will pave the way back to 122.36 (2016 low). Nevertheless, touching of 138.04 will confirm short term bottoming and bring lengthier consolidation first, before staging another fall.

In the bigger picture, corrective medium term rise from 122.36 (2016 low) has completed at 156.69 already. That came after failing to break through 55 month EMA. Fall from 156.69 (2018 high) is seen as resuming the long term down trend from 195.86 (2015 high). Break of 122.36 will target 116.83 low first (2011 low). And this will now remain the preferred case as long as 139.88 support turned resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged higher to 154.80 last week but continued to lost momentum from there. Though, there was no deep correction yet. Initial bias remains neutral this week first and further rise is expected. On the upside, break of 154.80 will resume larger up trend to 156.59 key resistance first. Break will carry larger bullish implication and target 61.8% projection of 133.03 to 153.39 from 149.03 at 161.61. For now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 149.03 resistance holds, in case of pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, the strong break of 55 months EMA was an early sign of long term bullish reversal. Firm break of 156.69 resistance should now confirm the start of an up trend for 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 151.74; (P) 152.23; (R1) 152.55; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. We’re holding on to the view that corrective rise from 144.97 should have completed at 153.84 already. Hence, another decline is expected in the cross. Break of 150.60 will target 148.37 support first. Break will bring retest of 144.97 low. However, firm break of 153.84 will invalidate our view and extend the rise from 144.97 towards 156.59 high.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 156.59 are viewed as a corrective pattern. For now, we’d expect at least one more fall for 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 before the consolidation completed. Though, firm break of 156.59 will resume whole up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 at 159.11 next.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY stayed in consolidation above 148.94 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. On the downside, firm break of 148.93 key structural support will carry larger bearish implications. Next target is 161.8% projection of 158.19 to 152.35 from 154.70 at 145.25. On the upside, however, break of 152.35 support turned resistance will argue that the pull back from 158.19 is complete. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 158.19 high.

In the bigger picture, the break of medium term channel support, and bearish divergence condition in week MACD are raising the chance of medium term topping at 158.19. Firm break of 148.93 support will argue that GBP/JPY is at least correcting the whole rise from 123.94 (2020 low). In this case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10. Nevertheless, strong rebound from 148.93 will retain medium term bullishness for another rise through 158.19 at a later stage.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 146.38) holds, we’d still favor more up trend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. But sustained trading below 55 month EMA will at least neutralize medium term bullishness and re-open the chance of revisiting 122.75 low (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 144.02 is still in progress. As long as 145.99 resistance holds, further decline is mildly in favor. On the downside, break of 144.02 will resume the fall from 149.48 and target 139.39/47 key support zone. On the upside, above 145.99 support turned resistance could bring stronger rebound. But near tem outlook will be neutral at best as long as 149.70 key resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, as long as 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) holds, up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) would still extend beyond 156.69 high. However, decisive break of 139.29/47 will suggest that such up trend is completed and turn outlook bearish. In that case, next target is 61.8% retracement at 135.43.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral first and outlook is unchanged. On the upside, firm break of 154.63 resistance will argue that pull back from 158.19 has completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 158.19 high. On the downside, break of 152.35 will resume the fall towards 148.93 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). The stay above 55 week EMA affirms medium term bullishness. Current rise should now target 61.8% retracement 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93 next. In any case, outlook will remain bullish as long as 148.93 structural support hold, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s fall from 147.95 resumed last week and accelerated to as low as 137.52. The strong break of 139.31 support raises the chance of rejection from 148.87 resistance and bearish reversal. Initial bias remains on the downside this week for 61.8% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 from 134.71 next. On the upside, above 139.82 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But risk will remain on the downside for now, as long as 144.95 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, Rejection by 148.87 resistance argues that rise from 126.54 is probably just third third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Medium term outlook is turned neutral first. Break of 126.54 support would resume larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) through 122.75 low.

In the longer term picture, in spite of the current strong rally, there is no confirmation of long term bullish reversal yet. Focus is now on 156.59 key resistance. As long as it holds, another decline through 122.75 could still be seen. But firm break of 156.69 should at least bring further rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

GBP/JPY recovered after hitting 131.90 and intraday bias is turned neutral first. We’re favoring the case that corrective rebound from 123.94 has completed at 135.74. Break of 131.90 will turn bias to the downside for retesting 123.94 low. On the upside, in case of another rise, upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 144.95 to 123.94 at 136.92 to bring near term reversal.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged higher to 141.57 last week but failed to sustain above 141.50 and retreat sharply. Initial focus is on 139.36 minor support. Break there will indicate short term topping. Deeper fall should then be seen back to 135.74 resistance turned support first. On the upside, break of 141.57 will resume the rise from 126.54 to for 148.87 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low) is still in progress with rise from 126.54 as the third leg. Further rise should be seen back to 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. For now, we’d expect strong resistance from there to limit upside. On the downside, sustained break of 135.74 will suggest that such rebound has completed. Deeper decline could the be seen to retest 126.54 low.

In the longer term picture, price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are seen as developing into a consolidation pattern. That is, long term down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) and that from 251.09 (2007 high) are still in favor to extend through 116.83 (2011 low). We’ll hold on to this bearish view as long as 156.59 key resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is back on the upside at this point. Break of 140.31 will resume whole rebound from 133.03 and target a test on 142.71 high. On the downside, however, break of 138.23 will argue that the pattern from 142.71 is starting another falling leg. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 134.40 support and possibly below.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY’s steep retreat indicates short term topping at 200.53. Intraday bias is turned neutral for consolidations first. But outlook will remain bullish as long as 193.51 resistance turned support holds. Firm break of 200.53 will resume larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, current rally is part of the up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Sustained break of 61.8% projection of 155.33 to 188.63 from 178.32 at 198.89 will pave the way to 100% projection at 211.65. Break of 189.97 support is needed to be the first sign of medium term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

A temporary low is formed at 131.68 with today’s recovery and intraday bias in turned neutral first. As long as 136.34 resistance holds, further decline is still expected. On the downside, below 131.68 will extend the fall from1 39.73 to 129.27 support. Decisive break there will confirm completion of rebound from 123.94. Deeper fall would be seen to retest 123.94 low.

In the bigger picture, we’re seeing price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are seen as a sideway consolidation pattern. As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY continues to lose upside momentum as seen in 4H MACD, but there is no clear sign of topping yet. Further rally is expected to 138.2% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 187.36. On the downside, below 178.80 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rise.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is extending. Next target is 195.86 (2015 high). For now, medium term outlook will remain bullish as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, even in case of deep pull back.
