GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 174.66 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Deeper pull back cannot be ruled out, but outlook will stay bullish as long as 167.82 support holds. On the upside, break of 174.66 will resume larger up trend to 100% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 178.51.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is extending. Next target will be 161.8% projection of 122.75 (2016 low) to 156.59 (2018 high) from 123.94 at 178.69. For now, medium term outlook will remain bullish as long as 165.99 resistance turned support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s rebound from 143.18 was stronger than expected and reached as high 148.10 last week. But it retreated sharply since then. Initial bias is neutral this week with focus on 145.82 minor support. Break there will argue that the rebound from 143.18 is completed and bring retest of this low. nonetheless, above 148.10 will resume the rebound and target 149.99 resistance first.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 153.84 should confirm that the correction is completed and target 156.59 and above to resume the medium term up trend.

In the longer term picture, the failure to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 153.94) is mixing up the outlook. Nonetheless, as long as 139.29 holds, rise from 122.26 is in favor to extend to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 (2016 low) at 159.11, and possibly further to 61.8% retracement at 167.78 before completion. However, firm break of 139.29 will turn focus back to 116.83/122.36 support zone instead.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rebounded last week and breached 146.46 minor resistance. But momentum was rather unconvincing. Initial bias stays neutral this week first. On the downside, below 144.37 will target 143.18 first. Break will resume larger decline from 156.59 and target 139.25/47 cluster support level. However, break of 148.10 will resume the rebound from 143.18 and that will also be the first sign of near term reversal.

In the longer term picture, the failure to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 153.83) is mixing up the outlook.

GBP/JPY’s sharp decline and break of 150.60 support indicate resumption of fall from 153.84. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 148 .37 support first. Break will bring retest of 144.97 low. On the upside, break of 152.71 resistance is needed to indicate completion of the decline. Otherwise, near term outlook will remain cautiously bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 156.59 are viewed as a corrective pattern. For now, we’d expect at least one more fall for 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 before the consolidation completed. Though, firm break of 156.59 will resume whole up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 at 159.11 next.

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 104.20 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Further rally is expected as long as 137.84 support holds. Rise from 123.94 has just resumed and break of 140.20 will target 100% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 141.07. However, break of 137.84 will indicate short term topping, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is still seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY is staying in corrective rise from 123.94 and outlook is unchanged. Further rise might be seen but upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 144.95 to 123.94 at 136.92 to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 129.85 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 123.94 low. However, sustained break of 136.92 will raise the chance of trend reversal and turn focus to 144.95 resistance.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY recovered after hitting 143.76 and intraday bias is turned neutral again. Another fall is in favor as long as 146.63 minor resistance holds. Below 143.76 will bring retest 143.18 low. Firm break there will resume larger decline from 156.59 and target 139.25/47 cluster support level. On the upside, above 146.63 minor resistance will target 148.10 instead.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY’s is turned neutral for consolidation above 158.57 temporary low. Further decline is expected as long as 162.24. Break of 158.57 will target 161.8% projection of 172.11 to 163.02 from 169.26 at 154.55 next. However, break of 162.24 will turn bias to the upside for stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, sustained break of 55 week EMA (now at 161.26) will confirm medium term topping at 172.11, on bearish divergence condition in weekly MACD. Fall from 172.11 should be correcting whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Deeper decline should be seen to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70 and possibly below. This will now remain the favored case as long as 55 day EMA (now at 166.11) holds.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. GBP/JPY’s break of 136.62 resistance suggests resumption of whole rise from 131.68. There is also sign of upside acceleration too. Intraday bias is back on the upside for retesting 139.73 high. On the downside, break of 134.99 support is needed to indicate completion of the rebound from 131.68. Otherwise, further rally will remain in favor in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, we’re seeing price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) as a sideway consolidation pattern. As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY is still staying in sideway consolidation from 149.70. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Deeper pull back cannot be ruled out. But outlook will stay remain bullish as long as 145.67 resistance turned support holds. On the upside, above 149.70 will target 153.84/156.69 resistance zone next. However, break of 145.67 will suggest that the rebound from 139.88 has completed and turn near term outlook bearish again.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY has successfully defended 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47). And, the rally from 122.36 (2016 low) is still intact. Such medium to long term rise would extend through 156.96 high. This will now be the preferred case as long as 145.67 near term support holds. However, break of 145.67 will turn focus back to 139.29/47 key support zone.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside at this point. Fall from 157.74 is seen as the third leg of the consolidative pattern from 158.19. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA (now at 155.20) will target 148.94 support next. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 157.74 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 158.19 are currently seen as developing into a consolidation pattern to up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Downside should be contained by 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10 to bring rebound. Firm break of 158.19 will resume the up trend to long term fibonacci level at 167.93. However, sustained break of 145.10 will raise the chance of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 137.02.

GBP/JPY’s fall from 153.84 is still in progress and deeper decline would be seen to 148.37 support first. Current fall from 153.84 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 156.59. Break of 148.37 will pave the way to 144.97 and below. On the upside, break of 152.71 resistance is needed to indicate completion of the decline. Otherwise, near term outlook will remain cautiously bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 156.59 are viewed as a corrective pattern. Though, firm break of 156.59 will resume whole up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 at 159.11 next.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s rally from 155.33 continued last week and accelerated to as high as 171.15. Initial bias remains on the upside this week for retesting 172.11 high. Firm break there will resume larger up trend and target 100% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 178.51. On the downside, below 167.95 support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is likely ready to resume. Next target is 161.8% projection of 122.75 (2016 low) to 156.59 (2018 high) from 123.94 at 178.69. This will now remain the favored case as long as 165.40 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 M EMA (now at 153.82) holds, rise from 122.75 (2016 low) could still extend higher at a later stage to 195.86 (2015 high).

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. Further fall is expected in GBP/JPY with 136.58 minor resistance intact. Current development argues that whole corrective rebound from 123.94 has completed. Decline in 142.71 should target 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 131.11. On the upside, above 136.58 minor resistance will turn bias neutral and bring consolidations, before staging another fall.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged higher to 166.23 last week but reversed from there. The development argues that corrective pattern from 168.67 is extending with another falling leg. Initial bias is mildly on the downside this week for 160.37 support. On the upside, above 165.13 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 166.23 resistance again.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 could be the third leg the the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rise will remain in favor as long as 55 month EMA (now at 149.84) holds. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. will pave the way to 195.86 (2015 high).

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays on the downside at this point. Current decline from 148.87 should target 131.51 low next. On the upside, break of 136.50 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.
