GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 162.45; (P) 163.19; (R1) 164.56; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, below 160.37 support will target 155.57 key support level next. On the upside, above 165.26 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside and bring retest of 168.67 high instead.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral with current retreat. Some consolidations would be seen but downside should be contained by 165.40 support. Break of 172.30 will resume larger up trend to 100% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 178.51.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is likely ready to resume. Next target is 161.8% projection of 122.75 (2016 low) to 156.59 (2018 high) from 123.94 at 178.69. This will now remain the favored case as long as 165.40 support holds, in case of retreat.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rose to 156.07 last week but retreated sharply since then. A short term top is likely in place with bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Initial bias is mildly on the downside for 150.18 support next. Break there will target a test on 146.96 key support level. Nonetheless, break of 156.07 will resume medium term rally.

In the bigger picture, as long as 146.96 key support holds, medium term outlook remains bullish. Rise from 122.36 is in favor to extend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate trend reversal. And there would be prospect of retesting 122.36 in that case.

In the longer term picture, down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) has already completed at 122.36. Focus is now on 55 month EMA (now at 154.75). Firm break there will suggest that rise from 122.36 is developing into a long term move that target 195.86 again. And, price actions from 116.83 (2011 low) is indeed a sideway pattern that could last more than a decade.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 142.17; (P) 142.74; (R1) 143.17; More…

At this point, GBP/JPY is still staying above 140.62 support and intraday bias remains neutral first. Break of 140.62 will suggest completion of the rebound and turn bias to the downside. In that case, deeper fall would be seen back to retest 131.51 low. On the upside, in case of another rise, we’d expect strong resistance from trend line (now at 146.85) to limit upside, at least on first attempt.

In the bigger picture, the strong rebound from 131.51 suggests that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed already. The corrective structure of such decline is turn argues that it’s the second leg of the corrective pattern from 122.36 (2016 low). And this pattern is starting the third leg. On the upside, decisive break of 149.38 will pave the way to 156.59 resistance and above.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Consolidation from 153.39 is still extending and intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral first. Downside should be contained by 148.50 support to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 153.39 will resume the whole rise from 123.94 to 156.59 long term resistance next.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 150.90; (P) 151.33; (R1) 151.88; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. The cross is now pressing 100% projection of 123.94 to 142.71 from 133.03 at 151.80 and channel resistance. Firm break of 150.43 minor support will indicate short term topping, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Intraday bias will be turned to the downside for correction to 55 day EMA (now at 146.16). Nevertheless, sustained trading above 151.80 will indicate upside acceleration. Next target is key resistance at 156.59.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s rebound was limited at 147.13 last week. Subsequent decline pushed the cross through 145.25 low to resume the fall from 149.30. More importantly, the development revived the case that consolidation pattern from 143.18 has completed with three waves up to 149.30. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 143.18/76 support zone. Deceive break there will resume larger decline from 156.59. On the upside, above 145.53 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But outlook will stay mildly bearish as long as 147.13 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, decline from 156.59 is seen as a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 153.84 should confirm that the correction is completed and target 156.59 and above to resume the medium term up trend.

In the longer term picture, the failure to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 153.00) is mixing up the outlook. Nonetheless, as long as 139.29 holds, rise from 122.26 is in favor to extend to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 (2016 low) at 159.11, and possibly further to 61.8% retracement at 167.78 before completion. However, firm break of 139.29 will turn focus back to 116.83/122.36 support zone instead.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 137.10; (P) 137.46; (R1) 137.92; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 136.55 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Upside of recovery should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 146.50 to 136.55 at 140.35 to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 136.55 will turn bias to the downside and extend the fall from 148.87 to 131.51 low.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.49; (P) 142.17; (R1) 143.40; More…

Outlook in GBP/JPY remains unchanged as it’s staying in corrective pattern from 147.95. Break of 140.83 will bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77. On the upside, above 144.60 resistance will bring stronger rebound to retest 147.95 high.

In the bigger picture, rise from 126.54 could either be the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low), or the start of a new up trend. In either case, further rally is expected as long as 139.31 support holds, into 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. Reaction from there should reveal which case it should be in. However, sustained break of 139.31 support will dampen this case and turn medium term outlook neutral first.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 128.97; (P) 129.40; (R1) 129.70; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 126.54 is still in progress. On the upside, above 130.69 will bring stronger rebound. But upside should be by 38.2% retracement of 148.87 to 126.54 at 135.07 to bring down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 126.54 will resume larger down trend to 122.61 support next.

In the bigger picture, outlook remains clearly bearish with GBP/JPY staying well below 55 week and 55 month EMA. Medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Next target is 122.36 (2016 low). We’d be cautious on bottoming there. But break of 135.66 resistance is needed to be the first sign of reversal. Sustained break of 122.36 will target next key level at 116.83 (2011 low).

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. As long as 142.81 minor support holds, another rise is mildly in favor. Above 145.67 will target trend line resistance (now at 146.99). Firm break there will be a signal of bullish reversal and should target 149.30 resistance for confirmation. However, break of 142.81 will argue that the rebound from 139.88 has completed and turn bias back to the downside for 139.29/47 key support zone.

In the bigger picture, at this point decline from 156.59 is still seen as a corrective move. Focus remains on 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47). Strong rebound from there will re-affirm the bullish case that rise from 122.36 is still to extend through 156.59 high. However, sustained break of 139.29/47 should confirm medium term reversal. GBP/JPY would then target a retest on 122.26 (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

GBP/JPY’s rally is still in progress and reaches as high as 142.23 so far today. Intraday bias remains on the upside for 1442.71 high. Decisive break there will resume whole rally from 123.94 for 147.95 key resistance. On the downside, break of 140.31 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as the corrective pattern from 168.40 is still extending. Break of 159.59 will extend the correction from 168.40 lower. But downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 150.95 to 168.40 at 157.61 to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 168.40 will resume larger up trend.

This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.44; (P) 135.78; (R1) 136.24; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. Further rally will remain in favor as long as 134.12 support holds. On the upside, break of 136.62 will resume the rebound from 131.68 to 139.73 high. Nevertheless, firm break of 134.12 will suggest completion of the rebound from 131.68. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for this support.

In the bigger picture, we’re seeing price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) as a sideway consolidation pattern. As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for the moment. Consolidation from 168.67 should have completed with three waves to 160.37. Further rally should be seen to retest 168.67 high. Firm break there will resume larger up trend. On the downside, below 163.54 minor support will dampen this bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 160.37 support instead.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside, as rise from 178.02 is in progress. Further rally should be seen to retest 186.75 resistance. Decisive break there will resume larger up trend. On the downside, break of 182.71 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, further rally will remain in favor in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, as long as 176.29 support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (202 low) should still be in progress. Break of 186.75 will target 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 176.29 will confirm medium term topping, and bring lengthier and deeper consolidations.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s break of 141.57 suggests that larger rise from 126.54 has resumed. Initial bias stays on the upside this week for trend line resistance (now at 143.78) next. Sustained break will pave the way to 148.87 key resistance next. On the downside, break of 139.31 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, current rise from 126.54 is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Further rally could be seen but for now, we’d expect strong resistance from 156.59 to limit upside. On the downside, sustained break of 135.74 resistance turned support will suggest that such rebound has completed. Deeper decline could the be seen to retest 126.54 low.

In the longer term picture, price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are seen as developing into a consolidation pattern. That is, long term down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) and that from 251.09 (2007 high) are still in favor to extend through 116.83 (2011 low). We’ll hold on to this bearish view as long as 156.59 key resistance holds. However, firm break of 156.69 should at least bring further rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s sharp decline last week suggests that rise from 148.94 has completed at 157.74, ahead of 158.19 high. Fall from 157.74 is seen as the third leg of the consolidative pattern from 158.19. Initial bias stays on the downside this week. Sustained break of 55 day EMA (now at 154.13) will target 148.94 support next. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 157.74 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 158.19 are currently seen as developing into a consolidation pattern to up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Downside should be contained by 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10 to bring rebound. Firm break of 158.19 will resume the up trend to long term fibonacci level at 167.93. However, sustained break of 145.10 will raise the chance of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 137.02.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 147.03) holds, we’d still favor more rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. But sustained trading below 55 month EMA will at least neutralize medium term bullishness and re-open the chance of revisiting 122.75 low (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 132.58; (P) 133.55; (R1) 134.54; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in corrective rebound from 123.94 and outlook remains unchanged. Upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 144.95 to 123.94 at 136.92 to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 129.85 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 123.94 low. However, sustained break of 136.92 will raise the chance of trend reversal and turn focus to 144.95 resistance.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.53; (P) 139.14; (R1) 139.53; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 104.20 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Further rally is expected as long as 137.84 support holds. Rise from 123.94 has just resumed and break of 140.20 will target 100% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 141.07. However, break of 137.84 will indicate short term topping, on bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is still seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.
