GBP/JPY is still bounded in consolidation below 148.09 short term top. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment and deeper pull back cannot be ruled out. But in that case, we’d expect downside to be contained by 38.2% retracement of 135.58 to 148.09 at 143.31 and bring rise resumption. Break of 148.42 resistance will target 150.42 long term fibonacci level first. Break there will pave the way to 100% projection of 122.36 to 148.42 from 135.58 at 161.64.

In the bigger picture, based on current momentum, rise from 122.36 bottom should be developing into a medium term move. Break of 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42 should pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. This will now be the favored case as long as 135.58 support holds.

GBP/JPY’s rebound form 149.40 resumed and intraday bias is cautiously on the upside for 153.39 resistance. Break will resume medium term rally. On the downside, below 151.17 minor support will extend the corrective pattern with another fall through 149.40 before completion.

In the bigger picture, outlook is mixed up a bit with last week’s sharp decline. But still, as long as 146.96 key support holds, medium term outlook remains bullish. Rise from 122.36 is in favor to extend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate trend reversal. And the corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays mildly on the upside for the moment. Correction from 172.11 might have completed at 163.20, after hitting 38.2% retracement of 148.93 to 172.11 at 163.25. Further rise would be seen to retest 172.11 high. On the downside, however, sustained trading below 38.2% retracement of 148.93 to 172.11 at 163.25 will bring deeper decline to 61.8% retracement at 157.78 and possibly below.

In the bigger picture, there is no clear sign of medium term topping yet. Up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) could still resume through 172.11 high at a later stage. However, firm break of 159.71 support will argue that it’s already in correction to the up trend from 123.94, and deeper decline would be seen back towards 148.93 support.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 155.57 will extend the correction towards 150.96 key structural support. Nevertheless, on the upside, firm break of 162.16 will indicate that the correction has completed, and bring retest of 168.40 high next.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds, even in case of deep pull back. However, firm break of 150.95 will indicate rejection by 167.93, and bearish trend reversal.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 145.72 (P) 146.04; (R1) 146.53; More…

GBP/JPY is still staying below 146.63 minor resistance despite rally attempt. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. On the upside, break of 146.63 will turn bias to the upside for 148.10 resistance first. Decisive break there will be a strong signal of near term reversal. Further rally would be seen to 149.99 resistance for confirmation. On the downside, break of 148.13 will extend the fall from 156.59 for 139.25/47 cluster support level.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 153.84 should confirm that the correction is completed and target 156.59 and above to resume the medium term up trend.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY turned neutral for consolidation below 141.50 temporary top. Deeper retreat could be seen but downside should be contained by 135.74 resistance turned support. On the upside, above 141.50 will resume the rise from 126.54 for 148.87 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low) is still in progress with rise from 126.54 as the third leg. Further rise should be seen back to 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. For now, we’d expect strong resistance from there to limit upside. And, this will remain the favored case as long as 130.42 support holds.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral at this point. Firm break of 154.63 resistance will argue that pull back from 158.19 has completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 158.19 high. On the downside, break of 152.35 will resume the fall towards 148.93 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). The stay above 55 week EMA affirms medium term bullishness. Current rise should now target 61.8% retracement 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93 next. In any case, outlook will remain bullish as long as 148.93 structural support hold, even in case of deep pull back.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral first. Strong rebound from 55 day EMA (now at 165.37) will retain near term bullishness. Break of 169.06 minor resistance will bring retest of 172.11 high first. However, sustained break of 55 day EMA will raise the chance of larger scale correction, and target 159.71 support and below.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), as part of the trend from 122.75 (2016 low) is still in progress. Further rise would be seen to 161.8% projection of 122.75 to 156.59 (2018 high) from 123.94 at 178.69. This will now remain the favored case as long as 159.71 support holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 133.96; (P) 134.46; (R1) 135.03; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. Another rise cannot be ruled out. But upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 144.95 to 123.94 at 136.92 to complete the corrective rebound from 123.94. On the downside, break of 132.40 will turn intraday bias back to the downside.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as range trading continues. As long as 137.83 resistance holds, further decline is in favor. Below 134.40 will target 133.03 support first. Break there will resume larger fall from 142.71 to 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 131.11.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen only as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is back on the upside with breach of 191.12 temporary top. Firm break of 61.8% projection of 178.71 to 188.90 from 185.21 at 191.50 will extend larger up trend to 100% projection at 195.40. On the downside, however, break of 190.32 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for deeper pullback.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 178.32 support holds. Next target is 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high).

GBP/JPY’s break of 154.10 support turned resistance suggests that correction from 156.05 has completed at 151.28 already. Intraday bias is back on the upside for retesting 156.05 high. Firm break there will resume larger up trend from 123.94. Nevertheless, consolidation from 156.05 could still extend with another falling leg. Break of 153.07 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 151.28 again.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus is now on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 149.03 support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY dipped to 159.42 last week but quickly recovered. Initial bias stays neutral this week first and consolidation pattern from 168.67 might extend. On the upside, above 163.97 will turn bias to the upside, and resume the rebound to 166.31 resistance. Break there will be the first sign of up trend resumption. On the downside, break of 159.42 will extend the correction towards 155.57 support.

This will remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 could be the third leg the the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rise will remain in favor as long as 55 month EMA (now at 149.84) holds. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. will pave the way to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged higher to 139.23 last week but quickly retreated. Initial bias remain neutral this week first. Further rise is in favor as long as 136.62 resistance turned support holds. On the upside, firm break of 139.73 will resume whole rise form 123.94. Next target will be 100% projection of 123.94 to 135.74 from 129.27 at 141.07. However, firm break of 136.62 will turn intraday bias back to the downside to extend the consolidation pattern from 139.73.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is currently seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

In the longer term picture, repeated rejection by 55 month EMA indicate long term bearishness in the cross. Down trend from 251.09 (2007 high) should eventually resume through 122.75 to 116.83 (2011 low) and below. However, sustained break of 55 month EMA (now at 144.90) will dampen this view and could open up further rise back to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.47; (P) 136.31; (R1) 136.75; More…

GBP/JPY drops sharply today and break of 135.38 support indicate resumptions of recent fall from 148.87. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 131.51 low next. On the upside, break of 137.78 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY’s medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 203.34; (P) 205.73; (R1) 207.61; More

GBP/JPY recovered after diving sharply to 203.82. While deeper fall could be seen, strong support should emerge from 38.2% retracement of 191.34 to 208.09 at 201.69 to bring rebound, and set the range of consolidations below 208.09 short term top. However, sustained break of 201.69 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

In the bigger picture, long term up trend is still in progress. Next target is 100% projection of 155.33 to 188.63 from 178.32 at 211.62. Outlook will stay bullish as long as 200.72 resistance turned support holds, even in case of deep pullback.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Next target is 195.86 (2015 high). This will now remain the favored case as long as 176.29 support holds, even in case of deeper pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 149.00; (P) 149.50; (R1) 149.95; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains mildly on the downside for 149.82 support. Break there will resume the correction from 152.82 and target 61.8% retracement of 139.29 to 152.82 at 144.45. Such decline is seen as a correction and we’d look for strong support from 144.45 to bring rebound. On the upside, above 151.38 will target a test on 152.82 high instead.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 122.36 is still expected to resume after corrective pull back from 152.82 completes. Firm break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, break of 139.29 will indicate rejection from 150.43 key fibonacci level. And the three wave corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.

Below 146.92 will target 61.8% retracement of 139.29 to 152.82 at 144.45. Such decline is seen as a correction and we’d look for strong support from 144.45 to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 149.73 support turned resistance will argue that the pull back is completed and turn bias back to the upside for retesting 152.82 high. However, sustained break of 144.45 will put 139.29 key support in focus.
