GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 140.23; (P) 140.84; (R1) 141.51; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside as fall from 148.42 short term top is in progress. Further decline should be seen to 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 138.46. As note before, rise from 122.36 is seen as a corrective move. Sustained trading below 138.46 and downside acceleration will indicate that such correction is finished too. And in that case, deeper fall should be seen to 61.8% retracement at 132.31 and below. On the upside, break of 145.38 resistance is needed to confirm completion of the fall from 148.42. Otherwise, near term outlook stays bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, the down trend from 195.86 top (2015 high) should have made a medium term bottom at 122.36 after hitting 100% projection of 195.86 to 154.70 from 163.87 at 122.71. Price actions from there are expected to develop into a medium term corrective pattern. Upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.4 for setting the medium term range.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY dropped to 141.25 but recovered ahead of 140.83. Initial bias remains neutral this week as range trading might continue. Further decline remains in favor as long as 144.60 resistance holds. Below 141.25 will target 38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77. However, firm break of 144.60 will bring retest of 147.95 high.

In the bigger picture, rise from 126.54 could either be the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low), or the start of a new up trend. In either case, further rally is expected as long as 139.31 support holds, into 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. Reaction from there should reveal which case it should be in. However, sustained break of 139.31 support will dampen this case and turn medium term outlook neutral first.

In the longer term picture, in spite of the current strong rally, there is no confirmation of long term bullish reversal yet. Focus is now on 156.59 key resistance. As long as it holds, another decline through 122.75 could still be seen. But firm break of 156.69 should at least bring further rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY stays in sideway trading last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Corrective pattern from 168.67 would extend for a while. On the upside, break of 163.91 will bring stronger rise to 166.31 resistance. On the downside, below 160.07 will turn bias to the downside for 159.42 and below.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 could be the third leg the the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rise will remain in favor as long as 55 month EMA (now at 149.84) holds. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. will pave the way to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s fall from 158.04 continued last week and hit as low as 151.44. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 148.94 support next. On the upside, break of 155.20 resistance is needed to indicate completion of the decline. Otherwise, outlook will be mildly bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 158.19 are seen as developing into a consolidation pattern to up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10 to bring rebound. Firm break of 158.19 will resume the up trend to long term fibonacci level at 167.93. However, sustained break of 145.10 will raise the chance of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 137.02.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 147.27) holds, we’d still favor more rally to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. But sustained trading below 55 month EMA will at least neutralize medium term bullishness and re-open the chance of revisiting 122.75 low (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 132.58; (P) 133.55; (R1) 134.54; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in corrective rebound from 123.94 and outlook remains unchanged. Upside should be limited by 61.8% retracement of 144.95 to 123.94 at 136.92 to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 129.85 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 123.94 low. However, sustained break of 136.92 will raise the chance of trend reversal and turn focus to 144.95 resistance.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern, which has completed at 147.96. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) as well as that from 251.09 (2007 high) are possibly resuming. Break of 122.75 should target 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.75 from 147.95 at 102.76 next. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 147.95 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.74; (P) 139.57; (R1) 140.24; More

GBP/JPY is still staying in tight range above 138.53 support and intraday bias stays neutral. Price actions from 148.42 are forming a consolidation pattern. And there is no clear sign of completion yet. On the downside, break of 138.53 support would trigger bring deeper fall to 136.44 support and possibly below. We’d expect strong support from 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, break of 142.79 resistance will turn bias to the upside and send GBP/JPY through 144.77 resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern. Or, sustained break of 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 will turn outlook bearish for a test on 122.36 low. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2148; (P) 1.2220; (R1) 1.2284; More….

No change in GBP/USD’s outlook. Corrective recovery from 1.2014 could have completed at 1.2309 already. Deeper fall should be seen to retest 1.2014 first. Break will resume larger down trend to 1.1946 low. On the upside, above 1.2309 will extend the recovery. But upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 1.3381 to 1.2014 at 1.2536 to bring down trend resumption.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4376 (2018 high) is extending towards 1.1946 low. We’d be cautious on bottoming there. But decisive break will resume down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) to 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.4376 at 1.1135. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/JPY’s break of 152.52 resistance indicate resumption of whole up trend from 123.94. Intraday bias stays on the upside for 156.59 long term resistance next. On the downside, below 151.16 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral. But outlook will stay bullish as long as 148.50 support holds.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 161.53; (P) 162.72; (R1) 164.84; More…

GBP/JPY’s rally from 148.93 is still in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside. Further rally should be seen to retest 169.10 high. Strong resistance could be seen there to limit upside, at least on first attempt. On the downside, below 159.41 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. However, firm break of 169.10 will confirm resumption of larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, strong support from 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 169.10 at 151.84 suggests that price actions from 169.10 are developing into a corrective pattern only. That is, rise from 123.94 (2020 low) should resume at a later stage. This will now remain the favored case as long as 148.93 support holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 152.44; (P) 152.94; (R1) 153.36; More…

GBP/JPY lost upside momentum ahead of 153.46 resistance and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Another rise is expected as long as 151.55 support holds. Firm break of 153.46 will pave the way back to retest 156.05 high. On the downside, break of 151.55 minor support will turn intraday bias back to the downside for 148.43 support instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus remains on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, sustained break of 149.03 support, however, will argue that rise from 123.94 has completed. Further break of 142.71 would open up the bearish case for retesting 122.75 low.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 140.18; (P) 140.71; (R1) 141.47; More

GBP/JPY is staying in range of 138.53/142.79 and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Break of 138.53 will extend the fall to 136.44. Overall, price actions from 148.42 are seen as a corrective pattern. Strong support could be seen at 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to bring rebound. Above 142.79 will turn bias back to the upside.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern with a test on 122.36 low next. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement at 167.78.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 140.77; (P) 141.58; (R1) 142.17; More…

GBP/JPY’s fall resumed after brief consolidation and reaches as low as 139.88 so far. Intraday bias is back on the downside. Current decline from 156.59 should target 139.29/47 key support level. We’ll pay attention to bottoming signal around there. But decisive of this support will carry larger bearish implications. On the upside, break of 142.46 will indicate short term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, at this point decline from 156.59 is still seen as a corrective move. But the current downside accelerate makes this view shaky. Focus will be on 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47). Strong rebound from there will re-affirm the bullish case that rise from 122.36 is still to extend through 156.59 high. However, sustained break of 139.29/47 should confirm medium term reversal. GBP/JPY would then target a retest on 122.26 (2016 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 139.45; (P) 140.59; (R1) 141.52; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 139.54 temporary low. In case of another recovery, upside should be limited well below 143.72 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 139.54 will resume the decline from 148.87 to 61.8% retracement of 131.51 to 148.87 at 138.14 next. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 131.51 low.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY was rejected by 149.98 key resistance. And medium term fall from 156.59 is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). On the other hand, decisive break of 149.98 should confirm that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Further rally would be seen back to 156.59 resistance and above.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY was well supported by rising 55 day EMA. And recent rise resumed last week by hitting as high as 156.59. Near term outlook will remain bullish as long as 151.95 support holds. Next target will be 100% projection of 139.29 to 152.82 from 146.96 at 160.49.

In the bigger picture, as long as 146.96 key support holds, medium term outlook remains bullish. Rise from 122.36 is in favor to extend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate trend reversal. And there would be prospect of retesting 122.36 in that case.

In the longer term picture, down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) has already completed at 122.36. Focus is now on 55 month EMA (now at 154.75). Firm break there will suggest that rise from 122.36 is developing into a long term move that target 195.86 again. And, price actions from 116.83 (2011 low) is indeed a sideway pattern that could last more than a decade.

Range trading continues in GBP/JPY above 179.45 and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the downside, break of 179.45 will resume the correction from 183.90 to 55 D EMA (now at 177.39). On the upside, firm break of 183.99 high will resume larger up trend to 187.36 projection level.

In the bigger picture, as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is expected to continue. On resumption, next target is 138.2% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 187.36, and then 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 172.11 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 188.87; (P) 189.48; (R1) 190.50; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral with current retreat and some consolidations could be seen first. Downside should be contained well above 185.21 support to bring another rise. Break of 190.05 will resume larger up trend to 61.8% projection of 178.71 to 188.90 from 185.21 at 191.50.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 160.93; (P) 161.35; (R1) 161.97; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. Risk will stay on the downside as long as 163.32 resistance holds. Fall from 165.99 is seen as part of the whole fall from 172.11. Sustained break of 158.54 will argue that larger decline from 172.11 is resuming through 155.33 low. However, break of 163.32 will bring stronger rise back to 165.99 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 38.2% retracement of 123.94 (2020 low) to 172.11 (2022 high) at 153.70 holds, medium term bullishness is retained. That is, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Break of 172.11 high to resume such up trend is expected at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.72; (P) 142.04; (R1) 142.61; More….

Intraday bias in GPB/JPY remain neutral for the moment. On the downside, below 138.65 will resume the decline from 148.09. But in that case, we’d look for bottoming signal around 135.58, which is close to 135.39 fibonacci level, to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 142.75 should confirm completion of the fall from 148.09 and turn bias back to the upside for this resistance.

In the bigger picture, while the fall from 148.09 is deeper than expected, we’re not bearish in the cross yet. Price action from 148.42 is possibly developing into a sideway pattern with fall from 148.09 as the third leg. Deeper decline could be seen but we’re looking for strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside. Rise from 122.36 is still mildly in favor to resume at a later stage. However, sustained break of 135.58/39 will confirm reversal and target a retest on 122.36 low.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

GBP/JPY’s rebound 178.32 is in progress and intraday bias stays on the upside. Current rise should target a test on 188.63 high. On the downside, break of 182.73 support is needed to indicate completion of the rebound. Otherwise, further rally will remain in favor in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 188.63 medium term top are seen as a correction to the up trend from 148.93 (2022 low) only. As long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in favor to resume through 188.63 at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.47; (P) 138.99; (R1) 139.46; More…

There is no clear sign of bottoming in GBP/JPY yet and further decline is expected. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 131.51 to 148.87 at 138.14 will pave the way to retest 131.51 low. On the upside, break of 141.73 minor resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish incase of recovery.
