GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 145.01; (P) 145.42; (R1) 146.05; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, break of 147.76/148.42 key resistance zone will resume larger rebound from 122.36. On the downside, break of 144.01 will extend the sideway pattern from 148.20 with another fall back to 135.58/65 support zone.

In the bigger picture, rise from medium term bottom at 122.36 is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43. Decisive break there will carry long term bullish implications and pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. In case the sideway pattern from 148.42 extends, we’d be looking for strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside.

A temporary low is in place at 145.93 after breaching 147.04 resistance. Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral first, for some consolidations. but upside of recovery should be limited well below 149.99 resistance to bring fall resumption. Below 145.93 will target 144.97 low first. Break there will resume the fall from 156.59 and target 100% projection of 156.59 to 144.97 from 153.84 at 142.22 next.

In the bigger picture, for now, we’re treating price actions from 156.59 as a corrective move. Therefore, while deeper fall is expected, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. There is still prospect of extending the rise from 122.36. However, considering that GBP/JPY failed to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 153.94), firm break of 139.29 will confirm trend reversal and turn outlook bearish.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 148.96; (P) 149.43; (R1) 149.83; More

GBP/JPY’s decline from 152.82 accelerates lower and breaks 38.2% retracement of 141.17 to 152.82 at 148.36 firmly. The development argues that whole rise from 139.29 is completed. Intraday bias stays on the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 146.27). Sustained trading below there will bring retest of 139.29 key support level. On the upside, break of 149.92 minor resistance is needed to indicate completion of the fall. Otherwise, deeper decline will now remain in favor.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 122.36 is in progress. Firm break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. For now, the bullish scenario is preferred as long as 139.29 support holds.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 151.19 temporary low. Considering bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, the near term trend could have reversed. Hence, deeper fall is in favor. Below 151.19 will target 150.18 support first. Break of 150.18 will affirm this case and target 146.96 key support level.

In the bigger picture, as long as 146.96 key support holds, medium term outlook remains bullish. Rise from 122.36 is in favor to extend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate trend reversal. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 and then 61.8% retracement at 135.43.

With 143.36 minor resistance intact, deeper decline could still be seen in GBP/JPY, for 61.8% retracement of 135.58 to 148.09 at 140.35. At this point, we’d still expect rebound from 122.36 to resume later. Hence, we’d look for strong support below 140.35 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 143.36 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside. However, sustained trading below 140.35 will dampen our bullish view and turn focus back to 135.58 key near term support instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 122.36 medium term bottom is still expected to extend to of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. And decisive break there could pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, as the cross is starting to lose upside momentum, rejection below 150.42 and break of 135.58 support will indicate reversal and bring deeper fall back to retest 122.36 instead.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral first. On the downside, break of 132.17 will suggest rejection by 38.2% retracement of 148.87 to 126.54 at 135.07. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for retesting 126.54 low. On the upside, however, sustained break of 135.07 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 140.33 next.

In the bigger picture, consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low) is possibly still in progress. Strong rebound from 126.54 argues that it may be the third leg of the pattern. Further rise could be seen to 148.87/156.59 resistance zone before completion. On the downside, though, sustained break of 122.75 low will extend 116.83 (2011 low).

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 130.60; (P) 131.21; (R1) 131.77; More…

GBP/JPY’s rebound and break of 132.24 resistance suggests that pull back from 135.74 is completed. And rise from 126.54 is possibly not over yet. Intraday bias is turned back to the upside for 135.74 first. On the downside, break of 130.42 will resume the fall to retest 126.54 low.

In the bigger picture, consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low) is possibly still in progress. Strong rebound from 126.54 argues that it may be the third leg of the pattern. Further rise could be seen to 148.87/156.59 resistance zone before completion. On the downside, though, sustained break of 122.75 low will target 116.83 (2011 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 203.34; (P) 205.73; (R1) 207.61; More

GBP/JPY recovered after diving sharply to 203.82. While deeper fall could be seen, strong support should emerge from 38.2% retracement of 191.34 to 208.09 at 201.69 to bring rebound, and set the range of consolidations below 208.09 short term top. However, sustained break of 201.69 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

In the bigger picture, long term up trend is still in progress. Next target is 100% projection of 155.33 to 188.63 from 178.32 at 211.62. Outlook will stay bullish as long as 200.72 resistance turned support holds, even in case of deep pullback.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s fall from 156.59 extended to 147.95 last week but formed a temporary low there and recovered. Initial bias is neutral this week first. Upside of recovery should be limited by 151.19 resistance to bring another fall. Below 147.95 will target 146.96 support next. Considering bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, firm break of 146.96 will be another sign of medium term trend reversal. On the upside, break of 151.19 will indicate short term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside for rebound.

In the bigger picture, the case for medium term reversal continues to build up on loss of medium term momentum as seen in 4 hour MACD. Also, firm break of 146.96 will indicate rejection by 55 month EMA and add to that case of reversal. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 and then 61.8% retracement at 135.43. Meanwhile, break of 156.59 will extend the rise from 122.36 to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78.

In the longer term picture, down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) has already completed at 122.36. Focus is now on 55 month EMA (now at 154.60). Firm break there will suggest that rise from 122.36 is developing into a long term move that target 195.86 again. And, price actions from 116.83 (2011 low) is indeed a sideway pattern that could last more than a decade. However, rejection from the 55 month EMA will turn focus back to 122.36 low.

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook and intraday bias stays neutral. On the downside, firm break of 148.93 key structural support will carry larger bearish implications. Next target is 161.8% projection of 158.19 to 152.35 from 154.70 at 145.25. On the upside, however, break of 152.35 support turned resistance will argue that the pull back from 158.19 is complete. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 158.19 high.

In the bigger picture, the break of medium term channel support, and bearish divergence condition in week MACD are raising the chance of medium term topping at 158.19. Firm break of 148.93 support will argue that GBP/JPY is at least correcting the whole rise from 123.94 (2020 low). In this case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10. Nevertheless, strong rebound from 148.93 will retain medium term bullishness for another rise through 158.19 at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s up trend continued last week and hit as high as 182.92. Initial bias stays on the upside this week for 138.2% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 187.36 next. On the downside, however, break of 179.90 support will confirm short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is extending. Next target is 195.86 (2015 high). For now, medium term outlook will remain bullish as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 (2016 low) in still in progress to retest 195.86 (2015 high). Based on current momentum, break of 195.86 is in favor. But strong resistance could still be seen from 61.8% retracement of 251.09 (2007 high) to 116.83 (2011 low) at 199.80 to limit upside on first attempt.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 155.33 will resume the fall from 172.11 to 153.70 fibonacci level. Nevertheless, considering bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD, firm break of 162.32 will argue that such decline has completed, and turn bias back to the upside for 55 day EMA (now at 163.45) and above.

In the bigger picture, as long as 153.02 support turned resistance holds, decline from 172.11 medium term top is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70. Sustained break there will raise the change of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 142.34. Nevertheless, break of 153.02 support turned resistance will argue that the decline has completed, and retain medium term bullishness.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the momentum and another rise is in favor. On the upside, break of 163.73 would resume the rebound from 155.33 to 169.26/172.11 resistance zone. However, break of 160.44 minor support will dampen this case and bring retest of 155.33 low instead.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 172.11 medium term should have completed at 155.33. With 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70 intact, medium term bullishness is retained. That is, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Break of 172.11 high to resume such up trend is expected at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. Risk will stay on the downside as long as 163.32 resistance holds. Fall from 165.99 is seen as part of the whole fall from 172.11. Sustained break of 158.54 will argue that larger decline from 172.11 is resuming through 155.33 low. However, break of 163.32 will bring stronger rise back to 165.99 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 38.2% retracement of 123.94 (2020 low) to 172.11 (2022 high) at 153.70 holds, medium term bullishness is retained. That is, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Break of 172.11 high to resume such up trend is expected at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 136.77; (P) 137.12; (R1) 137.70; More…

With current recovery and bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD, a short term bottom should be formed at 136.55. Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral for some consolidations first. Stronger recovery could be seen but upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 146.50 to 136.55 at 140.35 to limit upside to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 136.55 will turn bias to the downside and extend the fall from 148.87 to 131.51 low.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 143.84; (P) 144.37; (R1) 144.73; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral as it continued to lose downside momentum. As long as 145.99 resistance holds, further decline is in favor. On the downside, break of 144.02 will target 142.76 support first. Sustained break there will bring retest of 139.39/47 key support zone. On the upside, above 145.99 support turned resistance could bring stronger rebound. But near tem outlook will be neutral at best as long as 149.70 key resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, as long as 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) holds, up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) would still extend beyond 156.69 high. However, decisive break of 139.29/47 will suggest that such up trend is completed and turn outlook bearish. In that case, next target is 61.8% retracement at 135.43.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 140.35; (P) 141.18; (R1) 141.90; More

GBP/JPY is trading in range of 138.53/142.79 and intraday bias stays neutral for the moment. Overall, price actions from 148.42 are seen as a corrective pattern. Below 138.53 will bring deeper fall, possibly through 136.44 support. But strong support could be seen at 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to bring rebound. Above 142.79 will turn bias back to the upside for 144.77 and above.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern with a test on 122.36 low next. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement at 167.78.

GBP/JPY’s fall from 153.84 is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the downside for 148.47 support. Current decline is seen as as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 156.59. Break of 148.37 will pave the way to 144.97 and below. On the upside, above 150.60 resistance turned support, however, will argue that fall from 153.84 might be finished. And intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 152.71 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 156.59 are viewed as a corrective pattern. For now, we’d expect at least one more fall for 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 before the consolidation completed. Though, firm break of 156.59 will resume whole up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) to 50% retracement of 195.86 (2015high) to 122.36 at 159.11 next.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 151.33; (P) 151.71; (R1) 152.38; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral first. On the upside, firm break of 152.54 will suggest that whole correction from 156.05 has completed, and turn near term outlook bullish for retesting this high. On the downside, however, sustained break of 149.03 key support will carry larger bearish implication and target 143.78 fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 149.03 support holds, such rise would still resume at a later stage. However, sustained break of 149.03 support will indicate rejection by 156.59 (2018 high). Fall from 156.05 would at least be correcting the whole rise from 123.94 (2020 low). Deeper fall would be seen back 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 156.05 at 143.78 first.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment. Corrective pattern from 168.40 could extend further. In case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 150.95 to 168.40 at 157.61 to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 168.40 will resume larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.
