GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 138.64; (P) 139.14; (R1) 139.55; More

GBP/JPY remains bounded in range of 138.53/142.79. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. We’re treating price actions from 148.42 as a corrective pattern. Break of 138.53 support will bring deeper decline to 136.44 support and possibly below. However, we’d expect strong support at 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to bring rebound. On the upside, above 142.79 will turn bias back to the upside for 144.77 and above.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern with a test on 122.36 low next. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement at 167.78.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 182.70; (P) 183.47; (R1) 184.26; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays on the upside at this point. Decisive break of 183.99 will confirm larger up trend resumption. Next target is 61.8% projection of 158.24 to 183.99 from 176.29 at 192.20. For now, near term outlook will stay bullish as long as 180.41 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is expected to continue through 183.99 at a later stage, towards 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 172.11 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 147.24; (P) 147.58; (R1) 147.94; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. On the upside, above 148.10 will resume the rebound from 143.18 and target 149.99, and then 153.84 resistance. However, break of 145.82 minor support will argue that the rebound from 143.18 is completed and bring retest of this low.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 153.84 should confirm that the correction is completed and target 156.59 and above to resume the medium term up trend.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 166.87; (P) 167.98; (R1) 169.95; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 172.11 and intraday bias remains neutral. Further rally is mildly in favor with 164.95 support intact. On the upside, break of 172.11 will resume larger up trend. However, break of 164.95 will bring deeper pull back to 159.71 support and below.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), as part of the trend from 122.75 (2016 low) is still in progress. Further rise would be seen to 161.8% projection of 122.75 to 156.59 (2018 high) from 123.94 at 178.69. This will now remain the favored case as long as 148.93 support holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 147.74; (P) 148.44; (R1) 149.15; More….

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook. The corrective rise from 144.97 is still in progress and could extend higher. But, upside should be limited by 150.92 (50% retracement of 156.59 to 144.97 at 150.78) to bring fall resumption. Break of 144.97 will extend the decline from 156.59 to 143.51 medium term fibonacci level next.

In the bigger picture, the case for medium term reversal continues to build up. There is bearish divergence condition in daily MACD. 146.96 support was taken out. And GBP/JPY was rejected by 55 month EMA. Break of 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 135.43 and below. This will now be the preferred case as long as 150.92 resistance holds.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 186.95; (P) 187.63; (R1) 188.13; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 188.90 is extending. Further rally is expected as long as 186.14 support holds. Break of 188.90, and sustained trading above 188.63, will confirm up trend resumption. Next target is 38.2% projection of 155.33 to 188.63 from 178.32 at 191.04. However, break of 186.14 will turn bias to the downside for deeper pullback.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) in in progress. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 178.32 support holds. Next target is 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 162.11; (P) 162.90; (R1) 164.43; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for the moment. Pull back from 165.99 could have completed at 158.24 already. Further rise should be seen to 165.99 first. Break there will resume the whole rebound from 155.33 to 169.26 resistance. On the downside, however, break of 160.71 will mix up the outlook and turn intraday bias neutral.

In the bigger picture, as long as 38.2% retracement of 123.94 (2020 low) to 172.11 (2022 high) at 153.70 holds, medium term bullishness is retained. That is, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Break of 172.11 high to resume such up trend is expected at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 146.43; (P) 147.00; (R1) 147.99; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral with mixed near term outlook. On the upside break of 147.76 will resume rise from 138.65. And firm break of 148.42 key resistance will also resume the whole rally from 122.36 to long term fibonacci level at 150.43 and above. Meanwhile, on the downside, break of 145.25 will revive the case of rejection from 148.09/42 resistance zone. Intraday bias would then be turned back to the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 143.72) and below.

In the bigger picture, rise from medium term bottom at 122.36 is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43. Decisive break there will carry long term bullish implications and pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. In case the sideway pattern from 148.42 extends, we’d be looking for strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays mildly on the downside. The consolidation pattern from 143.18 could have completed at 149.30 already. Deeper fall would be seen back to 143.18/76 support zone first. On the upside, however, above 149.30 will bring turn bias to the upside for 149.99 resistance

Daily Pivots: (S1) 156.58; (P) 156.98; (R1) 157.34; More…

Outlook in GBP/JPY remains unchanged and intraday bias stays on the upside. Current up trend from 123.94 should target 61.8% projection of 136.96 to 156.05 from 148.93 at 160.72 next. On the downside, below 155.32 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). The stay above 55 week EMA affirms medium term bullishness. Current rise should now target 61.8% retracement 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93 next. In any case, outlook will remain bullish as long as 148.93 structural support hold, even in case of deeper pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 154.88; (P) 155.47; (R1) 155.80; More…

GBP/JPY’s break of 154.85 support argues that rebound from 148.94 has completed at 157.74, ahead of 158.19 high. Fall from 157.74 is seen as the third leg of the consolidative pattern from 158.19. Intraday bias is back on the downside. Sustained break of 55 day EMA (now at 154.11) will target 148.94 support next. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 157.74 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 148.93 key structural support retains medium term bullishness. Firm break of 158.19 high will resume whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. Nevertheless, firm break of 148.93 will bring deeper correction to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10, and possibly further lower, as a correction to up trend from 123.94 at least.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.46; (P) 145.15; (R1) 145.76; More…

GBP/JPY is still bounded in range of 144.02/145.99 as consolidation continues. Intraday bias remains neutral first. As long as 145.99 resistance holds, further decline is mildly in favor. On the downside, break of 144.02 will resume the fall from 149.48 and target 139.39/47 key support zone. On the upside, above 145.99 support turned resistance could bring stronger rebound. But near tem outlook will be neutral at best as long as 149.70 key resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, as long as 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) holds, up trend from 122.36 (2016 low) would still extend beyond 156.69 high. However, decisive break of 139.29/47 will suggest that such up trend is completed and turn outlook bearish. In that case, next target is 61.8% retracement at 135.43.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 140.14; (P) 140.49; (R1) 140.89; More

With 143.18 minor resistance intact, fall from 147.76 is still progress for 138.65 support first. Break there will extend the decline to 135.58 key support level. At this point, price actions from 148.42 are seen as a sideway consolidation pattern. Hence, we’ll expect strong support from 135.58 to contain downside and bring rebound. Nonetheless, break of 143.18 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming first. Otherwise, near term outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, the sideway pattern from 148.42 is extending with another leg. We’d expect strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside. Medium term rise from 122.36 is still expected to resume later. And break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. However, firm break of 135.58/39 will dampen the bullish view and turn focus back to 122.36 low.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 128.52; (P) 129.88; (R1) 131.14; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside at this point. Current fall form 147.95 should target a test on 126.54 low. On the upside, break of 134.31 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) is not completed yet. Break of 126.54 should indicate that such down trend is resuming through 122.75 low.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY retreated to 189.02 last week but recovered since then. Initial bias is turned neutral this week first. Risk is mildly on the downside as long as 191.29 resistance holds. Firm break of 188.90 resistance turned support will bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 178.32 to 191.29 at 186.33, as a correction to rise from 178.32. Nevertheless, decisive break of 191.29 will resume larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 178.32 support holds. Next target is 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high).

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 (2016 low) is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rally will remain in favor as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds. Break of 195.86 (2015 high) is possible. But strong resistance could be seen from 61.8% retracement of 251.09 (2007 high) to 116.83 at 199.80 to limit upside, at least on first attempt.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 166.73; (P) 167.35; (R1) 168.21; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Current rise should continue to 169.26 resistance first. Break will bring retest of 172.11 high. For now, near term outlook will stay cautiously bullish as long as 165.38 support holds, in case of retreat.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged lower to 137.51 last week but recovered. The development argues that choppy fall from 142.79 is completed already. Further rise is in favor in near term. Meanwhile, there is no change in the overall view that price actions from 148.42 are forming a consolidation pattern.

GBP/JPY 4 Hours Chart

Initial bias in GBP/JPY is mildly on the upside this week. Break of 140.60 resistance should confirm near term reversal and target 142.79 resistance first. Break there will send the cross through 144.77 resistance to 148.42 high. On the downside, below 137.51 minor support will extend the fall from 142.79 towards 136.44 support. But still, we’d expect support from 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside and bring rebound.

GBP/JPY Daily Chart

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern. Or, sustained break of 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 will turn outlook bearish for a test on 122.36 low. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78.

GBP/JPY Weekly Chart

In the longer term picture, while price actions from 122.36 would develop into a medium term correction, fall from 195.86 is still seen as resuming the down trend from 251.09 (2007 high). Hence, after the correction from 122.36 completes we’d expect another fall through 116.83 low.

GBP/JPY Monthly Chart

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 149.71; (P) 150.24; (R1) 150.60; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as range trading continues. On the downside, firm break of 148.93 key structural support will carry larger bearish implications. Next target is 161.8% projection of 158.19 to 152.35 from 154.70 at 145.25. On the upside, however, break of 152.35 support turned resistance will argue that the pull back from 158.19 is complete. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for retesting 158.19 high.

In the bigger picture, the break of medium term channel support, and bearish divergence condition in week MACD are raising the chance of medium term topping at 158.19. Firm break of 148.93 support will argue that GBP/JPY is at least correcting the whole rise from 123.94 (2020 low). In this case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10. Nevertheless, strong rebound from 148.93 will retain medium term bullishness for another rise through 158.19 at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 180.94; (P) 181.49; (R1) 182.07; More…

GBP/JPY is still extending sideway trading and intraday bias remains neutral. On the downside, break of 179.45 will resume the correction from 183.90 to 55 D EMA (now at 178.11) and possibly below. On the upside, firm break of 183.99 high will resume larger up trend to 187.36 projection level.

In the bigger picture, as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is expected to continue. On resumption, next target is 138.2% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 187.36, and then 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 172.11 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 141.15; (P) 141.67; (R1) 141.96; More…

GBP/JPY’s fall resumed after brief consolidations. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 1.8% retracement of 131.51 to 148.87 at 138.14 next. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 131.51 low. On the upside, above 141.64 minor resistance will turn intraday bias again and bring consolidations, before staging another decline.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY was rejected by 149.98 key resistance. And medium term fall from 156.59 is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). On the other hand, decisive break of 149.98 should confirm that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Further rally would be seen back to 156.59 resistance and above.
