GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 131.79; (P) 132.53; (R1) 133.02; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment and more consolidation could be seen. Further decline is expected and break of 131.68 will resume the decline from 139.73 for 129.27 support. Decisive break there will confirm completion of rebound from 123.94. Deeper fall would be seen to retest 123.94 low.

In the bigger picture, we’re seeing price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) as a sideway consolidation pattern. As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY’s rebound form 143.76 is still in progress and reaches as high as 147.27 so far. Focus is now on 148.10 resistance. Decisive break there will be a strong signal of near term reversal. Further rally would be seen to 149.99 resistance for confirmation. On the downside, break of 143.18 low will extend the fall from 156.59 for 139.25/47 cluster support level.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that decline from 156.59 is a corrective move. In case of another fall, strong support should be seen above 139.29 cluster support (50% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 139.47) to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, break of 153.84 should confirm that the correction is completed and target 156.59 and above to resume the medium term up trend.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 183.81; (P) 184.34; (R1) 184.53; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. Risk will stays on the downside as long as 186.75 resistance holds. Corrective pattern from 186.75 would extend with another falling leg before completion. On the downside, break of 183.35 will resume the correction from 186.75 short term top to 55 D EMA (now at 181.42) and possibly below.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Next target is 195.86 (2015 high). This will remain the favored case as long as 176.29 support holds, even in case of deeper pull back.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY stayed in consolidation below 165.99 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Further rally is still expected as long as 161.18 support holds. As noted before, corrective fall from 172.11 should have completed at 155.33 already. Break of 165.99 will target 169.26 resistance first, and then 172.11 high. However, break of 161.18 support will dampen this view and turn bias to the downside for 156.70 support instead.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 172.11 medium term should have completed at 155.33. With 38.2% retracement of 123.94 (2020 low) to 172.11 (2022 high) at 153.70 intact, medium term bullishness is retained. That is, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Break of 172.11 high to resume such up trend is expected at a later stage.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 153.17) holds, rise from 122.75 could still extend higher at a later stage to 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 129.00; (P) 129.27; (R1) 129.56; More…

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook. Intraday bias remains neutral and consolidation from 126.54 might extend. But outlook remains bearish with 130.06 minor resistance intact. On the downside, break of 126.54 will extend larger down trend to 122.36 low. However, break of 130.06 will indicate short term bottoming. Stronger rebound should be seen to 55 day EMA (now at 133.73).

In the bigger picture, outlook remains clearly bearish with GBP/JPY staying well below 55 week and 55 month EMA. Medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Next target is 122.36 (2016 low). We’d be cautious on bottoming there. But break of 135.66 resistance is needed to be the first sign of reversal. Sustained break of 122.36 will target next key level at 116.83 (2011 low).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 142.86; (P) 143.12; (R1) 143.58; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in range of 140.83/144.36 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Correction from 147.95 could extend. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 139.31/77 (38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77) to bring rebound. On the upside, above 144.36 will bring retest of 147.95 resistance. However, sustained break of 139.77 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 134.71.

In the bigger picture, rise from 126.54 could either be the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low), or the start of a new up trend. In either case, further rally is expected as long as 139.31 support holds, into 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. Reaction from there should reveal which case it should be in. However, sustained break of 139.31 support will dampen this case and turn medium term outlook neutral first.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 151.56; (P) 151.82; (R1) 152.29; More…

GBP/JPY’s rally resumed through 152.21 temporary top. Intraday bias is back on the upside. Current up trend from 123.94 might be accelerating again to 156.59 long term resistance next. However, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 150.76 support will indicate short term topping, and turn bias to the downside for pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. On the downside, break of 155.33 low will resume the fall form 172.11 to 153.70 fibonacci level next. Risk will stays on the downside as long as 55 day EMA (now at 162.03) holds, even in case of another rally attempt.

In the bigger picture, as long as 163.02 support turned resistance holds, decline from 172.11 medium term top is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70. Sustained break there will raise the change of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 142.34. Nevertheless, break of 163.02 support turned resistance will argue that the decline has completed, and retain medium term bullishness.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 145.82; (P) 147.67; (R1) 148.62; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside as fall from 156.59 is in progress. Considering bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, firm break of 146.96 will be another sign of medium term trend reversal. And GBP/JPY should target 143.51 medium term fibonacci level next. On the upside, break of 150.92 resistance is needed to confirm short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, the case for medium term reversal continues to build up on loss of medium term momentum as seen in weekly MACD. Also, firm break of 146.96 will indicate rejection by 55 month EMA (now at 154.60) and add to that case of reversal. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51 and then 61.8% retracement at 135.43. Meanwhile, break of 156.59 will extend the rise from 122.36 to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s up trend resumed last week and edged higher to 201.59, but retreated notably since then. Initial bias is turned neutral this week first. Further rally is expected as long as 197.18 support holds. However, considering bearish divergence condition in 4 H MACD, firm break of 197.18 will confirm short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for 191.34 support instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 188.63 resistance turned support holds, long term up trend is expected to continue. Next target is 100% projection of 155.33 to 188.63 from 178.32 at 211.62.

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 (2016 low) is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Focus is now on 61.8% retracement of 251.09 (2007 high) to 116.83 at 199.80. Decisive break there would pave the way back to 251.09 in the long term.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains mildly on the upside, as rebound form 148.93 would target 152.82 resistance. Sustained break there will suggest that correction from 156.05 has completed, and turn near term outlook bullish for retesting this high. On the downside, break of 150.70 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 149.03 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 149.03 support holds, such rise would still resume at a later stage. However, sustained break of 149.03 support will indicate rejection by 156.59. Fall from 156.05 would be at least correcting the whole rise from 123.94. Deeper fall would be seen back 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 156.05 at 143.78 first.

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 153.80; (P) 154.07; (R1) 154.37; More…

GBP/JPY’s break of 154.80 indicates up trend resumption. Current rally should now target 156.59 key resistance first. Break will carry larger bullish implication and target 61.8% projection of 133.03 to 153.39 from 149.03 at 161.61. On the downside, break of 153.81 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.97; (P) 145.76; (R1) 146.43; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral and more sideway trading could be seen. On the downside, sustained break of 143.72 will indicate near term reversal, after rejection by 149.48 key resistance. In that case, intraday bias will be turned to the downside for 141.00 support first. On the upside, decisive break of 149.48 key resistance will carry larger bullish implication and target 156.58 resistance next.

In the bigger picture, focus is now staying on 149.98 key resistance. Decisive break there should confirm that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Rise from 131.51 is then seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 122.36 (2016 low). GBP/JPY should then target 156.59 and above. However, rejection by 149.98 will retain medium term bearishness and could extend the fall from 156.59 through 131.51 to 122.36.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 139.56; (P) 140.12; (R1) 141.10; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for the moment with a temporary low in place at 136.44. Deeper decline is still expected with 142.16 support turned resistance intact. Whole corrective rise from 122.36 could have completed at 148.42. Below 136.44 will target 61.8% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 132.31 and below. Though, above 142.16 will turn focus back to 148.42 high instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are seen as developing into a corrective pattern. Upside is so far limited by 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.4 for setting the medium term range. At this point, we don’t expect a break of 122.36 in near term and the corrective pattern would extend for a while.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY stayed in consolidation from 126.54 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. On the upside, above 130.69 will bring stronger rebound. But upside should be by 38.2% retracement of 148.87 to 126.54 at 135.07 to bring down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 126.54 will resume larger down trend to 122.61 support next.

In the longer term picture, for now, we’re treating price actions from 122.36 as a corrective pattern. Hence, strong support could be seen at 122.36 to bring rebound before the pattern completes. However, sustained break will raise the chance of resuming long term down trend from 251.09 (2007 high). Next downside target will be 61.8% projection of 195.86 to 122.36 from 156.59 at 111.16.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 135.98; (P) 136.49; (R1) 137.18; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 135.38. Upside of recovery should be limited by 138.32 resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 135.38 will extend recent fall from 148.87 to retest 131.51 low. Though, firm break of 135.38 will confirm short term bottoming and bring stronger rebound first.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY’s medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY turned into consolidation below 156.05 last week. Initial bias remains neutral this week for some sideway trading. Outlook will remain bullish as long as 153.81 support holds. Break of 156.05 will resume larger up trend for 61.8% projection of 133.03 to 153.39 from 149.03 at 161.61. On the downside, firm break of 153.81 will indicate short term topping and turn bias back to the downside for deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus is now on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 149.03 support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

In the longer term picture, the strong break of 55 months EMA was an early sign of long term bullish reversal. Firm break of 156.69 resistance should now confirm the start of an up trend for 195.86 (2015 high).

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 151.62; (P) 152.25; (R1) 153.33; More…

GBP/JPY’s rally from 144.97 continues today and reaches as high as 153.56 so far. Break of near term channel resistance shows upside acceleration. Intraday bias stays on the upside for a test on 156.59 high next. On the downside, below 152.23 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. But another rise would be expected as long as 150.58 resistance turned support holds.

In the bigger picture, the outlook is turning mixed again. On the one hand, the cross was rejected by 55 month EMA (now at 154.20) after breaching it briefing. On the other hand, there was no sustainable selling pushing it through 38.2% retracement of 122.36 to 156.59 at 143.51. The most likely scenario is that GBP/JPY is turning into a sideway pattern between 143.51 and 156.59. And more range trading would now be seen before a breakout, possibly on the upside.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 199.92; (P) 200.38; (R1)200.70; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral first with current retreat. Break of 199.00 support will suggest short term topping, on bearish divergence condition in 4H MACD. Rise from 191.34, as the second leg of the corrective pattern from 200.53, might have completed too. Deeper fall should then be seen to 197.07 resistance turned support next.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top could be in place at 200.53 after breaching 199.80 long term fibonacci level. As long as 55 W EMA (now at 185.01) holds, price actions from there is seen as correcting the rise from 178.32 only. However, sustained break of 55 W EMA will argue that larger scale correction is underway and target 178.32 support.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 164.16; (P) 165.13; (R1) 166.08; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for the moment. Consolidation from 168.67 should have completed with three waves to 160.37. Further rally should be seen to retest 168.67 high. Firm break there will resume larger up trend. On the downside, below 163.54 minor support will dampen this bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 160.37 support instead.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 155.57 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.
