EUR/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1020; (P) 1.1032; (R1) 1.1056; More

EUR/USD’s rally continues today and hit as high as 1.0749 so far. Intraday bias remain son the upside for retesting 1.1274 high. Strong resistance should be seen from there to limit upside, at least on first attempt. On the downside, below 1.1027 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. But further rally will remain in favor as long as 1.0722 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.1274 are viewed as a corrective pattern to rise from 0.9534 (2022 low). Rise from 1.0447 is seen as the second leg. While further rally could cannot be ruled out, upside should be limited by 1.1274 to bring the third leg of the pattern. Meanwhile, sustained break of 1.0722 support will argue that the third leg has already started for 1.0447 and below.

EUR/USD’s corrective pull back from 1.1422 might have completed at 1.1168 already. Break of 1.1353 minor resistance will target 1.1422 and then 1.1496 key resistance. Nevertheless, break of 1.1168 will resume the correction to 38.2% retracement of 1.0635 to 1.1422 at 1.1121.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.1496 resistance holds, whole down trend from 1.2555 (2018 high) should still be in progress. Next target is 1.0339 (2017 low). However, sustained break of 1.1496 will argue that such down trend has completed. Rise from 1.0635 could then be seen as the third leg of the pattern from 1.0339. In this case, outlook will be turned bullish for retesting 1.2555.

EUR/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.1950; (P) 1.1972; (R1) 1.1987; More….

No change in EUR/USD’s outlook as focus stays on 1.1988 resistance. Decisive break there should affirm the case that correction from 1.2348 has completed at 1.1703. Further rally should then be seen to retest 1.2242/2348 resistance zone. On the downside, below 1.1876 minor support will dampen the bullish case, and turn bias back to the downside for 38.2% retracement of 1.0635 to 1.2348 at 1.1694.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0635 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 1.0339 (2017 low). Further rally could be seen to cluster resistance at 1.2555 next, (38.2% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.2516). This will remain the favored case as long as 1.1602 support holds. However, sustained break of 1.1602 will argue that whole rise from 1.10635 has completed. Deeper fall would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 1.0635 to 1.2348 at 1.1289.

EUR/USD’s rally from 1.0634 resumed after brief consolidations. Intraday bias is back on the upside for retesting 1.1094 high first. Decisive break there will confirm resumption of whole up trend from 0.9534. However, firm break of 1.0891 will extend the corrective pattern from 1.1094 with another falling leg, targeting 1.0634 and below.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.0515 support holds, rise from 0.9534 (2022 low) would still extend higher. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 1.2348 (2021 high) to 0.9534 at 1.1273 will solidify the case of bullish trend reversal and target 1.2348 resistance next (2021 high).

Intraday bias in EUR/USD remains neutral at this point. Further rally will remain in favor as long as 1.1876 support holds. Sustained trading above 1.1988 resistance will affirm our bullish view that correction from 1.2348 has completed at 1.1703. Further rally would then be seen to 1.2242/2348 resistance zone. However, break of 1.1876 support will turn bias back to the downside for 38.2% retracement of 1.0635 to 1.2348 at 1.1694 instead.

EUR/USD Mid-Day Outlook

At this point, EUR/USD is staying in range of 1.1507/1851 and intraday bias remains neutral. Outlook remains unchanged too. Further recovery could be seen but we’d expect strong resistance by 1.1851 to limit upside. Larger decline from 1.2555 is expected to resume sooner or later. Firm break of 1.1507 will send EUR/USD through 50% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1447 to 61.8% retracement at 1.1186.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that EUR/USD was rejected by 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 (2008 high) to 1.0339 (2017 low) at 1.2516. And, a medium term top was formed at 1.2555 already. Decline from there should extend further to 61.8% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1186 and below. For now, even in case of rebound, we won’t consider the fall from 1.2555 as finished as long as 1.1995 resistance holds.

Sustained trading below 55 D EMA (now at 1.0966) will bring deeper correction to 1.0634 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.9534 to 1.1274 at 1.0609). Strong support could be seen there, at least on first attempt, to set the range for consolidation.

On the upside, break of 1.1814 will delay the bearish case and extend the correction from 1.1300 with another rise before completion.

It could be a correction to rise from 1.0635 (2020 low), the fourth leg of a sideway pattern from 1.0339 (2017 low), or resuming long term down trend. In any case, outlook will now stay bearish as long as 1.1703 support turned resistance holds. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 1.0635 to 1.2348 at 1.1289 would pave the way back to 1.0635.
