EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY’s decline from 133.47 accelerated to as low as 129.89 last week. The development is in line with the view that corrective rise from 128.94 has completed at 133.47. And, fall from 137.49 is possibly resuming. Initial bias remains on the downside this week for 128.94 low first. Break will target 61.8% projection of 137.49 to 128.94 from 133.47 at 128.18 next. On the upside, above 131.13 minor resistance will turn bias neutral and bring recovery. But upside should be limited well below 133.47 resistance to bring another decline.

In the bigger picture, for now, price actions from 137.49 are viewed as a corrective pattern only. Hence, while, deeper decline would be seen, strong support is expected at 38.2% retracement of 109.03 to 137.49 at 126.61 to contain downside and bring rebound. Up trend from 109.03 (2016 low) is expected to resume afterwards. Though, sustained break of 126.61 will be an important sign of trend reversal and will turn focus to 124.08 resistance turned support.

In the long term picture, at this point, EUR/JPY is staying in long term sideway pattern, established since 2000. Rise from 109.03 is seen as a leg inside the pattern. As long as 124.08 support holds, further rally is in favor in medium to long term through 149.76 high. However, break of 124.08 could extend the fall through 109.03 low instead.

EUR/JPY is staying in consolidation from 132.35 and intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. Downside of retreat should be contained well above 129.57 support to bring rise resumption. On the upside, break of 132.35 will target 100% projection of 114.42 to 127.07 from 121.63 at 134.28.

In the bigger picture, rise from 114.42 is seen as a medium term rising leg inside a long term sideway pattern. Further rise is expected as long as 127.07 resistance turned support holds. Next target is 137.49 (2018 high). Decisive break there will open up the possibility that it’s indeed resuming the up trend from 94.11 (2012 low).

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EU/JPY’s decline from 133.44 accelerated to as low as 127.96 last week and there is no clear sign of bottoming yet. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 127.91 first. Break there will target 126.58 medium term fibonacci level next. On the upside, break of 129.97 minor resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, further fall will remain in favor in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, as long as 38.2% retracement of 114.42 (2020 low) to 134.11 at 126.58 holds, up trend from 114.42 is still in favor to continue. Break of 134.11 will target long term resistance at 137.49 (2018 high). However, sustained break of 126.58 will raise the chance of medium term bearish reversal. In this case, deeper decline would be seen to 61.8% retracement at 121.94, and possibly below.

In the long term picture, EUR/JPY is staying in long term sideway pattern, established since 2000. Long term outlook will remain neutral until breakout from the range of 109.03/137.49.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY’s rally last week argues that correction from 148.38 has completed at 140.75 already. But as a temporary top was formed at 146.71, initial bias is turned neutral this week first. On the upside, break of 146.71 will resume the rise from 140.75 to retest 148.38 high. However, break of 143.48 support will dampen this bullish case and bring deeper fall back to 140.75 support instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 55 week EMA (now at 138.32) holds, larger up trend from 114.42 (2020 low) is still in progress for 149.76 long term resistance. However, firm break of 55 week EMA will bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 114.42 to 148.38 at 135.40 before completing the correction from 148.38.

In the long term picture, outlook will stay bullish as long as 134.11 resistance turned support holds (2021 high). Sustained break of 149.76 (2014 high) will open up further rally, as resumption of the rise from 94.11 (2012 low), towards 169.96 (2008 high).

EUR/JPY’s break of 118.47 resistance suggests that pull back from 120.01 has completed at 117.07. And rebound from 115.86 is possibly still in progress. Intraday bias is turned back to the upside for 120.01 resistance first. Break will target 61.8% retracement of 123.35 to 115.86 at 120.48 next. On the downside, though, break of 117.07 will target retest on 115.86 low.

In the bigger picture, as long as 120.78 support turned resistance holds, down trend from 137.49 (2018 high) should still be in progress. Break of 115.86 will target 109.48 (2016 low) and below. However, sustained break of 120.78 will be the first indication of medium term reversal. Further rise would then be seen to 127.50 resistance for confirmation.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY dropped sharply to as low as 136.85 last week but recovered since then. Initial bias is neutral this week first. On the downside, below 136.86 will target 132.63 support. Decisive break will turn outlook bearish for 124.37 support. On the upside, above 139.78 minor resistance will turn bias to the upside for stronger recovery.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 114.42 (2020 low) is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 109.30 (2016 low). Further rally is in favor as long as 134.11 resistance turned support holds, even in case of deep pull back. Firm break of 139.78 will target 149.76 (2015 high. However, sustained break of 134.11 will be a sign of medium term bearish reversal and turn focus to 124.37 support for confirmation.

In the long term picture, current rally could be resuming whole rise from 94.11 (2012 low). Further rally would be seen to 149.76 resistance (2014 high) and above. This will remain the favored case as long as 134.11 resistance turned support holds.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY dropped to 121.31 last week but recovered ahead of 120.78 support. Initial bias is turned neutral this week first. We’re still favoring the case that consolidation from 120.78 has completed with three waves to 123.35. Below 121.31 will target retest of 120.78 first. Break will resume fall from 127.50 to 118.62 low. In case of another rise as consolidation from 120.78 extends, upside should be limited by 123.73 resistance to bring fall resumption eventually.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 137.49 is still in progress with the cross staying inside long term falling channel. Break of 118.62 will extend the fall to 109.48 (2016 low). On the upside, break of 127.50 resistance is needed to be the first sign of medium term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of strong rebound.

In the long term picture, EUR/JPY is staying in long term sideway pattern, established since 2000. Fall from 137.49 is seen as a falling leg inside the pattern. Break of 118.62 will extend this falling leg through 109.48 (2016 low). With EUR/JPY staying below 55 month EMA, this is now the preferred case.

EUR/JPY is staying in consolidation from 122.08 temporary low. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Another recovery could be seen. But upside should be limited by 124.09 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 122.08 will target a test on 118.62 low.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that rebound from 118.62 is merely a correction and has completed at 127.50. EUR/JPY is staying in long term falling channel from 137.49 (2018 high). Decisive break of 118.62 will confirm resumption of this medium term fall and target 109.20 low. For now, this will be the favored case as long as 125.23 resistance holds.

On the downside, below 151.36 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first.

Sustained break there will pave the way to 100% projection at 162.82. For now, medium term outlook will remain bullish as long as 146.12 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

Intraday bias in EUR/JPY remains on the upside at this point. Further rise would be seen to retesting 164.29 high next. On the downside, however, below 160.90 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 164.29 medium term top are seen as a correction to rise from 139.05 only. As long as 148.38 resistance turned support holds (2022 high), larger up trend from 114.42 (2020 low) is expected to resume through 164.29 at a later stage. Next target would be 169.96 (2008 high).

Intraday bias in EUR/JPY remains on the downside as this point. Rebound from 126.63 has completed at 130.14. Deeper fall should be see back to 124.61/89 support zone. On the upside, break of 130.14 resistance is now needed to confirm rise resumption. Otherwise, near term outlook will stay cautiously bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, as long as 124.08 key resistance turn supported holds, larger up trend from 109.03 (2016 low) is still in progress. Firm break of 137.49 structural resistance will target 141.04/149.76 resistance zone next. However, decisive break of 124.08 will argue that such rise from 109.03 has completed and turn outlook bearish. In that case, deeper fall would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 109.03 to 137.49 at 119.90.

EUR/JPY’s fall from 134.11 continues today and intraday bias stays on the downside for 38.2% retracement of 121.63 to 134.11 at 129.34. It’s seen as a correction to rise from 121.63 for now. Hence, we’d expect strong support from 129.34 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 131.41 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 114.42 is seen as a medium term rising leg inside a long term sideway pattern. Next target is 137.49 (2018 high). Intraday bias is back on the upside for retesting 133.44/134.11 resistance zone. Intraday bias in EUR/JPY remains mildly on the upside for the moment. Rebound from 127.91 short term bottom would target 130.54 resistance first. Sustained break there will argue that whole correction from 134.11 has completed and turn near term outlook bullish. Nevertheless, on the downside, below 128.58 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 127.91 low instead. Break will target 127.07 resistance turned support. EUR/JPY’s steep decline and break of 140.75 support confirms resumption of whole decline from 148.38. Intraday bias is now on the downside for 100% projection of 148.38 to 140.75 from 146.71 at 139.08. Firm break there will target 161.8% projection at 134.36. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 143.48 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, as long as 55 week EMA (now at 138.54) holds, larger up trend from 114.42 (2020 low) is still in progress for 149.76 long term resistance. However, firm break of 55 week EMA will bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 114.42 to 148.38 at 135.40 before completing the correction from 148.38.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY edged higher to 130.33 last week but dropped sharply after failing to sustain above 55 day EMA. Initial bias is neutral this week with focus on 127.69 minor support. Break should indicate completion of whole rebound from 124.61 at 130.33. And deeper decline would be seen back to retest 124.61 first. On the upside, break of 130.33 will resume the rebound from 124.61 to retest 133.47 resistance.

In the bigger picture, despite rebounding strongly ahead of 124.08 resistance turned support, there was no clear follow through buying. Note again that there is bearish divergence in daily MACD. Firm break of 124.08 will confirm trend reversal. That is, whole rise from 109.03 (2016 low) has completed at 137.49 already. In that case, deeper fall should be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 109.03 to 137.49 at 119.90 and below. Nonetheless, decisive break of 133.47 key resistance will likely extend the rise from 109.03 through 137.49 high.
