Intraday bias in EUR/JPY is turned neutral as it recovers after hitting 128.58. Some consolidations could be seen first. but further decline is expected as long as 131.07 resistance holds. Break of 128.58 will resume the fall from 134.11. Such decline is seen as correcting whole up trend from 114.42. Deeper fall would be seen to 127.07 resistance turned support next.

In the bigger picture, rise from 114.42 is seen as a medium term rising leg inside a long term sideway pattern. As long as 127.07 resistance turned support holds, further rise is still expected to retest 137.49 (2018 high) However, firm break of 127.07 will argue that the medium term trend has reversed, and open up the case for retesting 114.42.

Further rise is still in favor in EUR/JPY with 139.68 minor support intact. Consolidation pattern from 144.23 should have completed with three waves to 136.85. Further rally should be seen to retest 144.26 resistance first. Firm break there will resume larger up trend. On the downside, below 139.68 minor support will dampen this bullish view and bring retest of 136.85 instead.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 114.42 (2020 low) is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 109.30 (2016 low). Further rally is in favor as long as 134.11 resistance turned support holds, even in case of deep pull back. Firm break of 139.78 will target 149.76 (2015 high. However, sustained break of 134.11 will be a sign of medium term bearish reversal and turn focus to 124.37 support for confirmation.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY surged to as high as 133.08 last week as medium term rise resumed. Initial bias stays on the upside this week for 134.20 fibonacci level. Sustained break there will target 141.04 resistance next. On the downside, break of 130.60 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, current rise from 109.03 is seen as at the same degree as the down trend from 149.76 (2014 high) to 109.03 (2016 low). as long as 124.08 resistance turned support holds, further rise is expected to 61.8% retracement of 149.76 to 109.03 at 134.20. Sustained break there will pave the way to key long term resistance zone at 141.04/149.76. ON the downside, break of 127.55 support is needed to be the first signal of medium term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish.

In the long term picture, at this point, there is no clear indication that rise from 109.03 is resuming that from 94.11. Hence, we’d be cautious on topping below 149.76 to extend range trading. Nonetheless, firm break of 149.76 will indicates strong underlying buying. In such case, EUR/JPY will target 100% projection of 94.11 to 149.76 from 109.03 at 164.68.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY’s decline last week suggests that rebound from 127.36 has completed at 131.59. More importantly, the consolidation pattern from1 34.11 is extend with another falling leg. Initial bias stays on the downside for 127.36 and possibly further to 126.58 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 130.07 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. Considering bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, rebound from 115.86 could have completed at 122.65, ahead of medium term channel resistance. Firm break of 119.99 should confirm and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 118.45 and below. Nevertheless, strong rebound from current level will retain near term bullishness and turn focus back to 122.69 high.

In the bigger picture, EUR/JPY is still staying in the falling channel established since 137.49 (2018 high). Rise from 115.86 is seen as a corrective rise for the moment.
