EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY edged higher to 130.45 last week but failed to break through 130.73 resistance and retreated sharply. Initial bias is mildly on the downside for retesting 127.91 support. Firm break there will resume the whole decline from 134.11 to 127.07 resistance turned support next. On the upside, though, break of 130.73 resistance will argue that correction from 134.11 has completed and turn near term outlook bullish for retesting this high.

In the bigger picture, rise from 114.42 is seen as a medium term rising leg inside a long term sideway pattern. As long as 127.07 resistance turned support holds, further rise is still expected to retest 137.49 (2018 high). However, firm break of 127.07 will argue that the medium term trend has reversed, deeper fall would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 114.42 to 134.11 at 121.94.

In the long term picture, EUR/JPY is staying in long term sideway pattern, established since 2000. Another rising leg in progress for 137.49 resistance and above.

EUR/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 144.42; (P) 144.90; (R1) 145.68; More….

EUR/JPY is staying in consolidation below 145.55 and intraday bias remains neutral. Further rally is expected as long as 142.13 support holds. Corrective fall from 148.38 has completed at 137.37 already. Break of 145.55 will resume the rise from 137.37 to 146.71 resistance and then 148.38 high.

In the bigger picture, as long as 55 week EMA (now at 139.42) holds, larger up trend from 114.42 (2020 low) is still in progress for 149.76 long term resistance. However, firm break of 55 week EMA will bring deeper fall to 38.2% retracement of 114.42 to 148.38 at 135.40. Sustained break there will raise the chance of trend reversal, and target 61.8% retracement at 127.39.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY dipped mildly last week but stayed in range of 120.90/124.08. Outlook is unchanged and initial bias stays neutral this week first. Further rally is still in favor as long as 120.90 support holds. Above 124.08 will target 126.09 key resistance next. As rise from 109.20 is still seen as a corrective pattern, we’d be cautious on topping around 126.09. Meanwhile, break of 120.90 will indicate short term topping and turn bias to the downside for 118.45 resistance turned support and below.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 109.20 medium term bottom are seen as part of a medium term corrective pattern from 149.76. There is prospect of another rise towards 126.09 key resistance level before completion. But even in that case, we’d expect strong resistance between 126.09 and 141.04 to limit upside, at least on first attempt. Sustained trading below 55 day EMA will pave the way to retest 109.20.

In the long term picture, current medium term decline from 149.76 is seen as part of a long term sideway pattern from 88.96. Decisive break of 126.09 will indicate that such decline is completed and EUR/JPY has started another medium term rally already.

Daily Pivots: (S1) 162.94; (P) 163.17; (R1) 163.59; More

EUR/JPY’s break of 162.55 minor support indicates short term topping at 163.70. Considering bearish divergence condition in 4H MACD, it could now be corrective whole rise from 153.15. Intraday bias is back on the downside for channel support (now at 160.93). Firm break there will target 38.2% retracement of 153.15 to 163.70 at 159.66. For now, risk will stay mildly on the downside as long as 163.70 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 164.29 medium term top are seen as a correction to rise from 139.05 only. As long as 148.38 resistance turned support holds (2022 high), larger up trend from 114.42 (2020 low) is expected to resume through 164.29 at a later stage. Next target would be 169.96 (2008 high).

Daily Pivots: (S1) 119.35; (P) 119.72; (R1) 120.13; More…

EUR/JPY’s corrective fall from 124.08 is still in progress and deeper decline could be seen. However, as it’s treated as a correction, we’d expect strong support from 118.45 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 109.20 to 124.08 at 118.39) to bring rebound. On the upside, above 120.54 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 123.30/124.08 resistance zone.

Nonetheless, decisive break of 118.45 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 109.20 to 124.08 at 118.39) will argue that rise from 109.20 is completed and turn outlook bearish for 61.8% retracement at 114.88 and below.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY rally accelerated to as high as 130.11 last week as and met medium term projection level at 129.89. Initial bias remains on the upside this week. Sustained trading above 129.89 will pave the way to next near term target at 100% projection of 114.84 to 125.80 from 122.39 at 133.35. On the downside, break of 127.99 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, the down trend from 149.76 (2014 high) is completed at 109.03 (2016 low). Current rally from 109.03 should be at the same degree as the fall from 149.76 to 109.03. Further rise is expected now to 61.8% retracement of 149.76 to 109.03 at 134.20. Sustained break there will pave the way to key long term resistance zone at 141.04/149.76. Medium term outlook will remain bullish as long as 124.08 resistance turned support holds.

In the long term picture, at this point, there is no clear indication that rise from 109.03 is resuming that from 94.11. Hence, we’d be cautious on topping below 149.76 to extend range trading. Nonetheless, firm break of 149.76 will indicates strong underlying buying. In such case, EUR/JPY will target 100% projection of 94.11 to 149.76 from 109.03 at 164.68.

Sustained break there will argue that whole correction from 134.11 has completed and turn near term outlook bullish. Nevertheless, on the downside, below 128.58 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 127.91 low instead. Break will target 127.07 resistance turned support.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY’s fall from 122.87 extended to as low as 118.86 last week. Current development is in line with the view that whole corrective rise from 115.86 has completed at 122.87 already. Initial bias remains on the downside this week for 100% projection of 122.87 to 119.77 from 121.15 at 118.05 next. On the upside, above 119.55 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But recovery should be limited well below 121.15 resistance to bring fall resumption.

In the bigger picture, outlook remains bearish as the cross is staying well inside falling channel established since 137.49 (2018 high). It was also just rejected by 55 week EMA. Break of 115.86 will extend the down trend from 137.49 (2018 high) to 114.84 support next.

In the long term picture, EUR/JPY is staying in long term sideway pattern, established since 2000. Fall from 137.49 is seen as a falling leg inside the pattern. This falling leg would target 109.48 (2016 low). With EUR/JPY staying below 55 month EMA (now at 125.58), this is the preferred case.

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY rose further to as high as 130.73 last week, but formed a temporary top there a retreated. Initial bias is neutral this week for some consolidations first. In the bigger picture, rise from 114.42 is seen as a medium term rising leg inside a long term sideway pattern. As long as 127.07 resistance turned support holds, further rise is still expected to retest 137.49 (2018 high). In the bigger picture, current rise from 109.03 is seen as at the same degree as the down trend from 149.76 (2014 high) to 109.03 (2016 low). 61.8% retracement of 149.76 to 109.03 at 134.20 is already met. EUR/JPY is still bounded in range of 124.17/125.96 and intraday bias stays neutral. Outlook is unchanged that we’re favoring the case that rebound from 118.62 has completed at 125.95 already, just ahead of 55 day EMA. On the downside, break of 123.78 will add more credence to this case and target a test on 118.62 low. On the upside, however, decisive break of 125.95 will dampen out bearish view and target 129.25 resistance next.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 109.03 (2016 low) has completed at 137.49 already, with corrective structure. Fall from 137.49 is likely still in progress. Decisive break of 118.62 will target 161.8% projection of 137.49 to 124.61 from 133.12 at 112.28, which is inside 109.03/114.84 support zone.

Intraday bias in EUR/JPY remains neutral at this point, as consolidation from 127.36 is extending. On the downside, break of 127.36 will resume larger pattern from 134.11 to 126.58 medium term fibonacci level. We’d look for some support from there to bring rebound. But sustained break of 126.58 will carry larger bearish implications. On the upside, break of 129.09 will bring stronger rebound to 55 day EMA (now at 129.66) and above.

EUR/JPY 4 Hours Chart

In the bigger picture, as long as 38.2% retracement of 114.42 (2020 low) to 134.11 at 126.58 holds, up trend from 114.42 is still in favor to continue. Break of 134.11 will target long term resistance at 137.49 (2018 high). However, sustained break of 126.58 will raise the chance of medium term bearish reversal. In this case, deeper decline would be seen to 61.8% retracement at 121.94, and possibly below.

EUR/JPY Daily Chart

EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook

EUR/JPY’s rise rally resumed and hit 145.55 last week but retreated. Initial bias remains neutral this week first.

In the long term picture, outlook will stay bullish as long as 134.11 resistance turned support holds (2021 high). Sustained break of 149.76 (2014 high) will open up further rally, as resumption of the rise from 94.11 (2012 low), towards 169.96 (2008 high).

EUR/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 122.48; (P) 122.95; (R1) 123.32; More….

Intraday bias in EUR/JPY remains neutral for consolidation above 122.48 temporary low. In case of stronger recovery, upside should be limited by 124.09/125.29 resistance zone to bring fall resumption. Current development suggests that rebound from 118.62 has completed at 127.50 already. On the downside, break of 122.48 will target retest of 118.62 low.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that rebound from 118.62 is merely a correction and has completed at 127.50. EUR/JPY is staying in long term falling channel from 137.49 (2018 high). Decisive break of 118.62 will confirm resumption of this medium term fall and target 109.20 low. For now, this will be the favored case as long as 125.23 resistance holds.
