EUR/GBP Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.8798; (P) 0.8810; (R1) 0.8823; More…

EUR/GBP is still bounded in sideway trading inside 0.8693/8844. Intraday bias remains neutral and more consolidations could be seen. But after all, as long as 0.8693 minor support holds, further rally is in favor. On the upside, break of 0.8844 will resume the rebound from 0.8620 for 0.8967 cluster resistance (50% retracement of 0.9305 to 0.8620 at 0.8963). However, break of 0.8693 will bring deeper fall back to retest 0.8620 low.

In the bigger picture, for now, the decline from 0.9305 is seen as a leg inside the long term consolidation pattern from 0.9304 (2016 high). Such consolidation pattern could extend further. Hence, in case of strong rally, we’d be cautious on strong resistance by 0.9304/5 to limit upside. Meanwhile, in another decline attempt, we’d expect strong support from 0.8116 cluster support (50% retracement of 0.6935 to 0.9304 at 0.8120) to contain downside.

EUR/GBP Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.8878; (P) 0.8913; (R1) 0.8941; More…

At this point, further rise is still expected in EUR/GBP. Prior break of 0.8928 resistance indicates near term trend reversal. Decline from 0.9305 has completed at 0.8686 after hitting 61.8% retracement of 0.8312 to 0.9305. Further rise should be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 0.9305 to 0.8686 at 0.9069. Firm break there will target retest of 0.9305 high. On the downside, below 0.8877 minor support will dampen this bullish view and target 0.8771 support instead.

In the bigger picture, there are various ways to interpret price actions from 0.9304 high. But after all, firm break of 0.9304/5 is needed to conf irm up trend resumption. Otherwise, range trading will continue with risk of deeper fall. And in that case, EUR/GBP could have a retest on 0.8303. But we’d expect strong support from 0.8116 cluster support (50% retracement of 0.6935 to 0.9304 at 0.8120) to contain downside.

EUR/GBP Weekly Outlook

EUR/GBP edged higher to 0.8840 last week but quickly retreated. Initial bias is turned neutral this week first. As long as 0.8728 support holds, further rise is still in favor. On the upside, break of 0.8840 will extend the rebound from 0.8617 to 61.8% retracement of 0.9101 to 0.8617 at 0.8916. Break will pave the way back to 0.9101 key resistance. On the downside, however, firm break of 0.8728 will argue that rebound from 0.8617 has completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for this low.

In the bigger picture, EUR/GBP is seen as staying in long term range pattern started at 0.9304 (2016 high). The medium term range is set between 0.8620 and 0.9101. Downside breakout of 0.8620 will pave the way back to 0.8312 support . Break of 0.9101 will bring retest of 0.9304/5 resistance.

In the long term picture, we’re holding on to the view that rise from 0.6935 (2015 low) is resuming the up trend from 0.5680 (2000 low). As long as 0.8116 cluster support (50% retracement of 0.6935 to 0.9304 at 0.8120) holds, further rise should be seen through 0.9305 to 0.9799 and above down the road.

Intraday bias in EUR/GBP remains neutral for consolidation below 0.8879. On the downside, break of 0.8718 support will argue that rise from 0.8312 has completed. In that case, intraday bias with be turned back to the downside for lower side of the range at 0.8312. Meanwhile, break of 0.8879 and sustained trading above 0.8851 will pave the way to retest 0.9304 high.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 0.9304 are viewed as a medium term corrective pattern. It’s uncertain whether it is finished yet. But in case of another fall, we’d expect strong support from 0.8116 cluster support (50% retracement of 0.6935 to 0.9304 at 0.8120) to contain downside and bring rebound. Whole up trend from 0.6935 is expected to resume after consolidation from 0.9304 completes.

Despite dipping through 0.8727 support, EUR/GBP was supported by near term channel and recovered. Intraday bias is turned neutral first. Near term outlook also remains rather mixed. On the downside, break of 0.8679 support should confirm completion of the rebound form 0.8620. And intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for this support.
