EUR/AUD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.6050; (P) 1.6094; (R1) 1.6170; More

Intraday bias in EUR/AUD remains mildly on the upside. Rebound from 1.5905 short term bottom is still in progress for 1.6308 support turned resistance first. Firm break there should confirm completion of whole fall from 1.6789 and target this resistance again. For now, in case of another decline, we’d continue to expect strong support from 1.5894 to contain downside to bring rebound. However, sustained break will carry larger bearish implications and target 1.5683 support next.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.5894 support holds, outlook remains bullish. Firm break of 1.6786 will resume up trend from 1.1602 (2012 low). Next upside target is 61.8% retracement of 2.1127 (2008 high) to 1.1602 at 1.7488. However, sustained break of 1.5894 will have 55 week EMA (now at 1.6008) firmly taken out too. That should indicate medium term topping and target 1.5346 key support next.

EUR/AUD’s rally resumed after brief consolidations and intraday bias is back on the upside. Current up trend from 1.4281 should target 61.8% projection of 1.4281 to 1.5976 from 1.5254 at 1.6302 next. On the downside, below 1.5933 minor support will turn bias neutral and bring consolidations again first.

In the bigger picture, the strong support from 55 week EMA (now at 1.5396) is raising the chance of bullish trend reversal. On break of 1.5976, focus will be on 1.6434 cluster resistance (38.2% retracement of 1.9799 to 1.4281 at 1.6389). Sustained break there should confirm that whole down trend form 1.9799 (2020 high) has completed. However, rejection by this cluster resistance will make medium term outlook neutral at best.

This will remain the favored case now as long as 1.5396 resistance holds.

Intraday bias in EUR/AUD stays neutral as consolidation from 1.5704 is still extending. Downside should be contained by 55 day EMA (now at 1.5315) to bring rebound. On the upside, decisive break of 1.5704 resistance will resume whole rally from 1.4281. However, sustained trading below 55 day EMA will bring deeper decline to 1.4965 resistance turned support.

In the bigger picture, a medium term bottom should be in place at 1.4281, on bullish convergence condition in daily MACD. Further rise would be seen back to 1.6434 key resistance next. Break of 1.4965 resistance turned support is needed to indicate reversal. Otherwise, further rally will remain in favor.

EUR/AUD Weekly Outlook

EUR/AUD’s decline last week argues that corrective rebound from 1.4318 has completed with three waves up to 1.5227, ahead of 1.5354 resistance. However, firm break of 1.5354 will indicate medium term bottoming and bring stronger rally back to 1.6434 key resistance.

In the longer term picture, fall from 1.9799 (2020 high) is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 2.1127 (2008 high). Deeper fall should be seen to 1.3624 support. Decisive break there would pave the way back to 1.1602 (2012 low).

In the bigger picture, medium term rise from 1.3624 is not completed yet. Break of 1.5770 will extend the rise to retest 1.6587 (2015 high). However, considering bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, sustained break of 1.4949 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 1.3624 to 1.5770 at 1.4950) will indicate medium term reversal. On the downside, sustained break of 1.5621 support should confirm reversal and turn outlook bearish for 1.5153 support and below.
