AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD continued last week but it started to lose momentum approaching 0.7031 resistance. Initial bias is neutral this week for some consolidations first. On the downside, break of 0.6856 support will suggest short term topping. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for pull back towards 0.6569 resistance turned support.

In the bigger picture, the firm break of 0.6826 (2016 low) now suggests that 0.5506 is a medium term bottom. Rebound from there is likely correcting whole long term down trend form 1.1079 (2011 high). Further rally would be seen to 55 month EMA (now at 0.7340). This will remain the preferred case as long as it stays above 55 week EMA (now at 0.6710).

In the longer term picture, there is no change in the view that down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) is still in progress. Such down trend could extend through 0.5506 low after completing the corrective rise from there. However, sustained break of 55 month EMA (now at 0.7340) will raise the chance of long term reversal and turn focus back to 0.8135 key resistance.

AUD/USD Daily Report

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7059; (P) 0.7132; (R1) 0.7169; More…

Intraday bias in AUD/USD stays neutral for the moment. Outlook is unchanged that further rise will remain in favor as long as 0.7034 support holds. Current development raised the chance that whole fall corrective fall from 0.8005 has completed at 0.6828. Above 0.7282 will extend the rebound to 0.7660 resistance for confirmation. However, break of 0.7034 will dampen this bullish view and bring retest of 0.6828 low instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 0.8006 are seen as a corrective pattern to rise from 0.5506 (2020 low). Deeper fall could be seen to 50% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.8006 at 0.6756. This coincides with 100% projection of 0.8006 to 0.7105 from 0.7660 at 0.6760. Strong support is expected from 0.6756/60 cluster to contain downside to complete the correction. Meanwhile, firm break of 0.7660 resistance will confirm that such corrective pattern has completed, and larger up trend is ready to resume.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD rose further to 0.7660 last week but formed at short term top there and retreated. Initial bias is now on the downside this week for deeper pull back to 55 day EMA (now at 0.7343). On the upside, above 0.7518 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 0.7660. Firm break there will resume larger rise from 0.6991 to retest 0.8006 high.

In the bigger picture, correction from 0.8006 could have completed at 0.6966, after drawing support from 0.6991. That is, up trend from 0.5506 (2020 low) might be ready to resume. Firm break of 0.8006 will target 61.8% projection of 0.5506 to 0.8006 from 0.6966 at 0.8511 next. This will remain the favored case as long as 0.7164 support holds.

In the longer term picture, focus remains on 0.8135 structural resistance. Decisive break there will argue that rise from 0.5506 is developing into a long term up trend that reverses whole down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). However, rejection by 0.8135 will keep long term outlook neutral at best.

AUD/USD Daily Report

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.6529; (P) 0.6571; (R1) 0.6601; More…

Range trading continues in AUD/USD and intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. Risk stays mildly on the downside at this point. Break of 0.6524 will affirm the case of rejection by channel resistance, and resume the fall from 0.6689 short term top to 55 D EMA (now at 0.6500) and below. Nevertheless, firm break of 0.6689 will resume the rise from 0.6269 instead.

In the bigger picture, there is no confirmation that down trend from 0.8006 (2021 high) has completed. Price actions from 0.6169 (2022 low) could be just a medium term corrective pattern, with fall from 0.7156 as the second leg. For now, range trading should be seen between 0.6169 and 0.7156 (2023 high), until further developments.

AUD/USD Mid-Day Report

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7145; (P) 0.7160; (R1) 0.7188; More…

AUD/USD’s break of 0.7243 resistance suggests rally resumption. Intraday bias is back on the upside as rise from 0.5506 should target 0.7311 long term EMA. On the downside, break of 0.7109 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, rebound from 0.5506 medium term bottom could be correcting whole long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Further rally would be seen to 55 month EMA (now at 0.7311). This will remain the preferred case as long as it stays above 55 week EMA (now at 0.6804). However, sustained trading below 55 week EMA will turn focus back to 0.5506 low instead.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD’s decline last week suggests that corrective rise from 0.6677 has completed with three waves up to 0.6894. Initial bias remains on the downside this week for retesting 0.6677 low first. Break will resume larger down trend. On the upside, above 0.6808 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But risk will stay on the downside as long as 0.6894 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, decline from 0.8135 (2018 high) is seen as resuming the long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Next target is 0.6008 (2008 low). On the upside, break of 0.7082 resistance is needed to be the first sign of medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish even in case of strong rebound.

In the longer term picture, prior rejection by 55 month EMA maintained long term bearishness in AUD/USD. That is, down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) is still in progress. Sustained break of 0.6826 will target 0.6008 low and then 61.8% projection of 1.1079 to 0.6826 from 0.8135 at 0.5507.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD rebounded to 0.7760 last week but retreated since then. Initial bias is neutral this week first. We’re favoring the case that correction from 0.8006 has completed with three waves down to 0.7530. Above 0.7760 will extend the rebound to 0.7848 resistance first. Break there should confirm this bullish case and bring retest of 0.8006 high. This will remain the favored case as long as 0.7583 support holds.

In the bigger picture, whole down trend from 1.1079 (2001 high) should have completed at 0.5506 (2020 low) already. Rise from 0.5506 could either be the start of a long term up trend, or a corrective rise. Reactions to 0.8135 key resistance will reveal which case it is. But in any case, medium term rally is expected to continue as long as 0.7413 resistance turned support holds.

In the longer term picture, 0.5506 is a long term bottom, on bullish convergence condition in monthly MACD. Focus is now back on 0.8135 structural resistance. Decisive break there will raise the chance that rise from 0.5506 is an impulsive up trend. Next target should be 61.8% retracement at 0.8950 of 1.1079 to 0.5506 and above. Though, rejection by 0.8135 will keep the case of medium to long term sideway consolidation open.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7454; (P) 0.7480; (R1) 0.7501; More…

AUD/USD’s rebound from 0.7158 extends to as high as 0.7547 so far today. Intraday bias remains on the upside for the moment and further rise should be seen. Sustained trading above 61.8% retracement of 0.7777 to 0.7518 at 0.7541 will target 0.7777/7833 resistance zone. At this point, we’d still expect strong resistance from this zone to limit upside. On the downside, below 0.7448 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 0.7144 key support level.

In the bigger picture, AUD/USD is staying inside long term falling channel and it’s likely that the down trend from 1.1079 is still in progress. Break of 0.6826 low will confirm this bearish case. We’ll be looking for bottoming sign again as it approaches 0.6008 key support level. Meanwhile, sustained break of 0.7833 resistance will be a strong sign of medium term reversal.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD’s rebound from 0.6828 short term bottom continued last week. Initial bias stays on the upside this week for further rally. Sustained break of 55 day EMA (now at 0.7174) will target 0.7265 resistance next. On the downside, though, break of 0.7034 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 0.6828 low.

However, sustained break of 0.6756/60 would argue that AUD/USD is indeed already in a medium term down trend.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD’s rebound from 0.6722 short term bottom extended higher last week. And despite loss of upside momentum as seen in 4 hour MACD, there is no sign of topping yet. Initial bias remains mildly on the upside for further rally. But upside should be limited by 0.7393 resistance to bring reversal. On the downside, break of 0.7116 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 0.6722 low.

In the bigger picture, the failure to sustain below 0.6826 (2016 low) suggests that the long term down trend is not ready to resume yet. But prior rejection by 55 week EMA indicates underlying medium term bearishness in the pair. Outlook will also stay bearish as long as 0.7393 resistance holds. On the downside, sustained break of 0.6826 will target 0.6008 (2008 low).

AUD/USD’s break of 0.7005 support suggests resumption of the correction fall form 0.7413. Intraday bias is now on the downside for 38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.7413 at 0.6685. For now, break of 0.7157 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, further decline is in favor in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, while rebound from 0.5506 was strong, there is not enough evidence to confirm bullish trend reversal yet. That is, it could be just a correction inside the long term down trend. Sustained trading back below 55 week EMA (now at 0.6927) will favor the bearish case and argue that the rebound has completed. Focus will be turned back to 0.5506 low. On the upside, break of 0.7413 will extend the rise from 0.5506 to 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 (2011 high) to 0.5506 (2020 low) at 0.7635.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

A temporary low is formed at 0.6748 in AUD/USD with 4 hour MACD crossed above signal line. Intraday bias is turned neutral for some consolidations. Upside of recovery should be limited by 0.6899 minor resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside break of 0.6748 will target 0.6722 low first. Break will target 100% projections of 0.7295 to 0.6831 from 0.7082 at 0.6618 next.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook remains bearish. . The decline from 0.8135 (2018 high) is seen as resuming the long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Decisive break of 0.6826 (2016 low) will confirm this bearish view and resume target 0.6008 (2008 low). However, firm break of 0.7295 will argue that fall from 0.8135 has completed. And corrective pattern from 0.6826 has started the third leg, targeting 0.8135 again.

AUD/USD recovered after hitting 4 hour 55 EMA but stays below 0.6444 temporary top. Intraday bias remains neutral first. on the upside, break of 0.6444 will extend the rebound from 0.5506 to 100% projection of 0.5506 to 0.6213 from 0.5979 at 0.6686, which is close to 0.6684 key resistance. On the downside, break of 0.6213 resistance turned support will argue that such rebound has completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 0.5979 support for confirmation.

In the bigger picture, there is no clear sign of trend reversal yet. The larger down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) is still in favor to extend. 61.8% projection of 1.1079 to 0.6826 from 0.8135 at 0.5507 is already met. Sustained break there will pave the way to 0.4773 (2001 low). On the upside, break of 0.6670 support turned resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish even in case of strong rebound.

On the downside, below 0.7639 resistance turned support will turn intraday bias neutral first. But retreat should be contained above 0.7461 support to bring another rally.

In the bigger picture, whole down trend from 1.1079 (2001 high) should have completed at 0.5506 (2020 low) already. Rise form 0.5506 could either the start of a long term up trend, or a corrective rise. Reactions to 0.8135 key resistance will reveal which case it is.

Range trading continues in AUD/USD and intraday bias remains neutral. While stronger recovery might be seen, outlook will stay bearish as long as 0.6520 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 0.6356 will resume larger fall to 100% projection of 0.7156 to 0.6457 from 0.6894 at 0.6195.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that the down trend from 0.8006 (2021 high) is still in progress. Decisive break of 0.6169 will target 61.8% projection of 0.8006 to 0.6169 to 0.7156 at 0.6021. This will now remain the favored case as long as 0.6894, in case of strong rebound.

AUD/USD’s recovery from 0.6871 extends higher today, but stays below 0.7062 resistance. Intraday bias remains neutral first and further rally is expected. On the upside, break of 0.7062 will resume rise from 0.6169 to 61.8% projection of 0.6169 to 0.6892 from 0.6721 at 0.7168 next. However, on the downside, break of 0.6871 support should confirm short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for 0.6721 support and possibly below.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 0.8006 (2021 high) should have completed with three waves down to 0.6169 (2022 low). Further rally should be seen to 61.8% retracement of 0.8006 to 0.6169 at 0.7304. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 0.8006. This will now remain the favored case as long as 0.6721 support holds.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD stayed in tight range below 0.7695 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Further rise cannot be ruled out yet. But lost of upside momentum is seen in bearish divergence condition in 4 hours MACD. We’d expect strong resistance from 0.7777/7833 resistance zone to limit upside and bring near term reversal. On the downside, break of 0.7510 minor support will indicate that rise from 0.7158 has completed already and turn bias back to the downside for this key near term support level.

In the bigger picture, we’re still treating price actions from 0.6826 low as a correction. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 0.9504 to 0.6826 at 0.7849 holds, long term down trend from 1.1079 is expected to resume sooner or later. Break of 0.6826 low will target 0.6008 key support level. However, firm break of 0.7849 will indicate that rise from 0.6826 is developing into a medium term rebound, rather than a sideway pattern. In such case, stronger rise should be seek to 55 month EMA (now at 0.8205) and above.

In the longer term picture, while the down trend from 1.1079 might extend lower, we’re not anticipating a break of 0.6008 (2008 low) yet. We’ll look for bottoming above there to reverse the medium term trend.

AUD/USD is still extending sideway trading below 0.6713 and intraday bias stays neutral. As long as 0.6578 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.6361 to 0.6713 at 0.6579) holds, further rally remains in favor. On the upside, firm break of 0.6713 will resume whole rise from 0.6361 to 0.6870 resistance next. However, sustained break of 0.6578 will dampen this bullish view, and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 0.6495.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 0.6169 (2022 low) are seen as a medium term corrective pattern to the down trend from 0.8006 (2021 high). Fall from 0.7156 (2023 high) is seen as the second leg, which could have completed at 0.6269 already. AUD/USD is staying in tight range above 0.7408 and intraday bias remains neutral first. We’re continue to expect strong support from 100% projection of 0.8006 to 0.7530 from 0.7890 at 0.7414 to complete the correction from 0.8006. On the upside, break of of 0.7598 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 0.7890 resistance first. However, sustained break of 0.7414 will argue it’s at least in larger scale correction, and target 161.8% projection of 0.8006 to 0.7530 from 0.7890 at 0.7120 next.

In the bigger picture, rise from 0.5506 medium term bottom could either be the start of a long term up trend, or a corrective rise. Reactions to 0.8135 key resistance will reveal which case it is. Rejection by 0.8135 key resistance, followed by firm break of 0.7413 resistance turned support, will favor the latter case. Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.8006 at 0.7051 first.
