AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD’s rebound from 0.6670 resumed last week and extended to as high as 0.6856 last week. Initial bias remains on the upside this week for further rally. However, such rise is still seen as a corrective move. Thus, upside should be limited by 0.6894 resistance to bring larger down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 0.6723 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for retesting 0.6670 low. However, firm break of 0.6894 will dampen our bearish view and turn focus back to 0.7082 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, decline from 0.8135 (2018 high) is seen as resuming the long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Next target is 0.6008 (2008 low). On the upside, break of 0.7082 resistance is needed to be the first sign of medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish even in case of strong rebound.

In the longer term picture, prior rejection by 55 month EMA maintained long term bearishness in AUD/USD. That is, down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) is still in progress. Sustained break of 0.6826 will target 0.6008 low and then 61.8% projection of 1.1079 to 0.6826 from 0.8135 at 0.5507.

AUD/USD Daily Report

Intraday bias in AUD/USD stays mildly on the downside. Fall from 0.6892 short term top is in progress to 38.2% retracement of 0.6169 to 0.6892 at 0.6616. Sustained break there will suggest rejection by 0.66871 fibonacci level. Deeper fall should then be seen to 61.8% retracement at 0.6445. For now, risk will stay mildly on the downside as long as 0.6892 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, it’s still unsure if price actions from 0.6169 medium term bottom are developing into a corrective pattern or trend rejection. Rejection by 38.2% retracement of 0.8006 to 0.6169 at 0.6871 will maintain medium term bearishness for another fall through 0.6169 at a later stage. However, firm break of 0.6871, and sustained trading above 55 week EMA (now at 0.6909) will raise the chance of the start of a bullish up trend.

AUD/USD Weekly Report

AUD/USD stayed in range of 0.6575/6713 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Further rally is in favor with 0.6578 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.6361 to 0.6713 at 0.6579) intact. On the upside, firm break of 0.6713 will resume whole rise from 0.6361 to 0.6870 resistance next. However, sustained break of 0.6578 will dampen this bullish view, and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 0.6495.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 0.6169 (2022 low) are seen as a medium term corrective pattern to the down trend from 0.8006 (2021 high). Fall from 0.7156 (2023 high) is seen as the second leg, which could have completed at 0.6269 already. Rise from there is seen as the third leg which is now trying to resume through 0.6870 resistance.

In the long term picture, the down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) should have completed at 0.5506 (2020 low) already. It’s unsure yet whether price actions from 0.5506 are developing into a corrective pattern, or trend reversal. But in either case, fall from 0.8006 is seen as the second leg of the pattern. Hence, in case of deeper decline, strong support should emerge above 0.5506 to bring reversal.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral first. On the downside, break of 0.6854 will resume the correction from 0.7156 to 38.2% retracement of 0.6169 to 0.7156 at 0.6779. On the upside, break of 0.7010 will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 0.7156 high instead.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 0.8006 (2021 high) should have completed with three waves down to 0.6169 (2022 low). Further rally should be seen to 61.8% retracement of 0.8006 to 0.6169 at 0.7304. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 0.8006. This will now remain the favored case as long as 0.6721 support holds.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.6967; (P) 0.6983; (R1) 0.7002; More…

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral as consolidation from 0.6962 is extending. Another recovery cannot be ruled out. But upside should be limited by 0.7069 resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 0.6962 will resume the fall from 0.7295 to 100% projection of 0.7295 to 0.7003 from 0.7205 at 0.6913. Decisive break there will indicate further downside acceleration and pave the way to retest 0.6722 low. However, considering bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD, firm break of 0.7069 will indicate near term bottoming and turn bias back to the upside for 0.7205 resistance and above.

In the bigger picture, with 0.7393 key resistance intact, medium term outlook remains bearish. The decline from 0.8135 (2018 high) is seen as resuming long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Decisive break of 0.6826 (2016 low) will confirm this bearish view and resume the down trend to 0.6008 (2008 low). However, firm break of 0.7393 will argue that fall from 0.8135 has completed. And corrective pattern from 0.6826 has started the third leg, targeting 0.8135 again.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7755; (P) 0.7773; (R1) 0.7786; More…

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral at this point. Further rise remains mildly in favor with 0.7725 minor support intact. Above 0.7809 will target 0.7915 resistance first. Break there will confirm that whole decline from 0.8135 has completed. However, below 0.7725 will bring retest of 0.7642 low instead.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 0.6826 is seen as a corrective move. It might still extend higher but we’d expect strong resistance from 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 to limit upside to bring long term down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 0.7500 support will now be an important signal that such corrective rebound is completed. In that case, AUD/USD would be heading back to 0.6826 low in medium term.

AUD/USD Weekly Report

AUD/USD extended consolidation from 0.6713 last week and outlook remains unchanged. Initial bias stays neutral this week first.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7237; (P) 0.7276; (R1) 0.7303; More…

AUD/USD is still bounded in range of 0.7237/7381 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Consolidation could extend but in case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 0.7452 resistance to bring larger down trend resumption eventually. On the downside, below 0.7237 will target a test on 0.7201 low first. Firm break there will resume the down trend from 0.8135.

In the bigger picture, rebound from 0.6826 (2016 low) is seen as a corrective move that should be completed at 0.8135. Fall from there would extend to have a test on 0.6826. There is prospect of resuming long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). But we’ll look at downside momentum to assess at a later stage. On the upside, break of 0.7452 resistance, however, will indicate medium term bottoming, on bullish convergence condition in daily MACD. In that case, a correction should be seen first, with stronger rebound would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 0.8135 to 0.7201 at 0.7558. The down trend from 0.8135 will resume after the correction completes.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7344; (P) 0.7386; (R1) 0.7424; More…

A temporary low is in place at 1.7346 with the current recovery, ahead of 0.7328 cluster support (61.8% retracement of 0.6826 to 0.8135 at 0.7326). Intraday bias is turned neutral first. Some consolidations could be seen. But upside of recovery should be limited well below 0.7676 resistance to bring another fall. Firm break of 0.7382 will target 61.8% projection of 0.8135 to 0.7411 from 0.7676 at 0.7229 next.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 0.6826 is seen as a corrective move. Prior break of 0.7500 key support suggests that such correction is completed at 0.8135. Deeper decline would be seen back to retest 0.6826 low. In case of another rise, we’d expect strong resistance from 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 to limit upside to bring long term down trend resumption eventually.

AUD/USD Daily Report

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7042; (P) 0.7095; (R1) 0.7175; More…

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains on the upside at this point. Current rise should target 61.8% projection of 0.6402 to 0.7064 from 0.6776 at 0.7185. Sustained break there will target long term EMA level at 0.7311 next. On the downside, break of 0.6963 support is needed to confirm short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, rebound from 0.5506 medium term bottom could be correcting whole long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Further rally would be seen to 55 month EMA (now at 0.7311). This will remain the preferred case as long as it stays above 55 week EMA (now at 0.6750). Sustained trading below 55 week EMA will turn focus back to 0.5506 low instead.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD formed a temporary low at 0.7219 last week and turned sideway. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. On the downside, below 0.7219 will resume the fall from 0.7477 to retest 0.7105 low. Firm break there will resume whole decline from 0.8006 for 0.6991 support next. On the upside, above 0.7320 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 0.7477 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, with 0.6991 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.8006 at 0.7051) intact, we’re seeing price action from 0.8006 as a correction only. That is, up trend from 0.5506 low would resume after the correction completes. In that case, main focus will be 0.8135 key resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there will carry larger bullish implications. However, sustained break of 0.6991 will argue that the whole medium term trend has indeed reversed.

In the longer term picture, focus remains on 0.8135 structural resistance. Decisive break there will argue that rise from 0.5506 is developing into a long term up trend that reverses whole down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). In that case, further rally would be seen to 61.8% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.5506 at 0.8950 and possibly above. Rejection by 0.8135 will keep long term outlook neutral at best.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7309; (P) 0.7326; (R1) 0.7358; More…

AUD/USD’s rebound from 0.7201 short term bottom extends to as high as 0.7358 so far today. 0.7346 support turned resistance is broken without sign of topping yet. Intraday bias stays on the upside for 0.7452 key resistance next. On the downside, below 0.7295 minor support will argue that the rebound is finished and turn bias back to the downside.

AUD/USD rises to sa high as 0.6929 so far as rebound from 0.6670 extends. The break of 0.6894 resistance complete a double bottom pattern (0.6677, 0.6670), which is also an early sign of medium term bullish reversal. Intraday bias is now on the upside for retesting 0.7082 key resistance next. On the downside, break of 0.6809 support is needed to signal completion of the rise. Otherwise, outlook will stay cautiously bearish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, the case of medium term bullish reversal is building up with bullish convergence condition in weekly MACD. But there is no clear confirmation yet. As long as 0.7082 resistance holds, larger down trend from 0.8135 (2018 high) is still expect to continue to 0.6008 (2008 low). However, decisive break of 0.7082 will confirm medium term bottoming and bring stronger rally.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7574; (P) 0.7598; (R1) 0.7625; More…

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral for the moment. With 0.7534 support intact, another rise is in favor. Above 0.7643 minor resistance will bring retest of 0.7711. Break will extend the rally from 0.7328 to 0.7748 resistance and above. At this point, there is no clear sign of range breakout yet. Hence, we’d be cautious on topping again as it approaches medium term fibonacci level at 0.7849. On the downside, break of 0.7534 will indicate near term reversal and turn bias back to the downside for 0.7370 support.

In the bigger picture, we’re still treating price actions from 0.6826 low as a corrective pattern. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 0.9504 to 0.6826 at 0.7849 holds, long term down trend from 1.1079 is expected to resume sooner or later. Break of 0.6826 low will target 0.6008 key support level. However, firm break of 0.7849 will indicate that rise from 0.6826 is developing into a medium term rebound, rather than a sideway pattern. In such case, stronger rise should be seen to 55 month EMA (now at 0.8082) and above.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 0.7243 resistance will suggest that the correction from 0.7413 has completed and bring retest of this high. On the downside, through, break of 0.7005 will resume the correction to 38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.7413 at 0.6685.

In the bigger picture, while rebound from 0.5506 was strong, there is not enough evidence to confirm bullish trend reversal yet. That is, it could be just a correction inside the long term down trend. Sustained trading back below 55 week EMA (now at 0.6916) will favor the bearish case and argue that the rebound has completed. Focus will be turned back to 0.5506 low. On the upside, break of 0.7413 will extend the rise from 0.5506 to 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 (2011 high) to 0.5506 (2020 low) at 0.7635.

In the bigger picture, whole down trend from 1.1079 (2001 high) should have completed at 0.5506 (2020 low) already. Rise from 0.5506 could either be the start of a long term up trend, or a corrective rise. Reactions to 0.8135 key resistance will reveal which case it is.
