AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7366; (P) 0.7395; (R1) 0.7413; More…

AUD/USD’s fall resumed after brief consolidation and reaches as low as 0.7334 so far. Intraday bias is back on the downside. Current decline from 0.7748 should target 0.7144/7158 support zone. We’ll be cautious on bottoming there as there is no clear sign of larger down trend resumption yet. On the upside, above 0.7425 minor resistance will turn bias neutral and bring consolidations first.

In the bigger picture, we’re still treating price actions from 0.6826 low as a correction pattern. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 0.9504 to 0.6826 at 0.7849 holds, long term down trend from 1.1079 is expected to resume sooner or later. Break of 0.6826 low will target 0.6008 key support level. However, firm break of 0.7849 will indicate that rise from 0.6826 is developing into a medium term rebound, rather than a sideway pattern. In such case, stronger rise should be seen to 55 month EMA (now at 0.8115) and above.

AUD/USD edged higher to 0.7747 but lost momentum since then, as seen in 4 hour MACD dragged below signal line. Further rise could be seen with 0.7662 minor support intact, through 0.7777 resistance. But at this point, we’d expect upside to be limited by 0.7849/50 cluster resistance to limit upside and bring reversal. That level represents 61.8% projection of 0.7158 to 0.7740 from 0.7490 at 0.7850 and key long term retracement level at 0.7849. On the downside, below 0.7662 minor support will turn bias to the downside for 0.7490 support first.

In the bigger picture, we’re still treating price actions from 0.6826 low as a correction. AUD/USD’s fall from 0.7748 continues today and reaches as low as 0.7532 so far. Intraday bias remains on downside for 0.7490 support. Decisive break of 0.7490 will confirm completion of rise from 0.7158. In such case, near term outlook will be turned bearish for 0.7158 support. On the upside, above 0.7586 minor resistance will turn bias neutral first. And, break of 0.7678 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside and could extend the rise fro 0.7158 through 0.7748 resistance.

AUD/USD weakens again after edging higher to 0.7644 and intraday bias remains neutral. Near term outlook stays bearish with 0.7729 resistance intact and deeper decline is expected. Break of 0.7531 will resume whole decline from 0.8124 and target next key cluster level at 0.7322/8. However, considering bullish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 0.7729 will indicate near term reversal and bring stronger rebound back to 0.7896 resistance and above.

In the bigger picture, corrective rise from 0.6826 medium term bottom is likely completed at 0.8124, after hitting 55 month EMA (now at 0.8049). Decisive break of 0.7328 key cluster support (61.8% retracement 0.6826 to 0.8124 at 0.7322) will confirm. And in that case, long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) will likely be resuming. Break of 0.6826 will target 61.8% projection of 1.1079 to 0.6826 from 0.8124 at 0.5496. This will now be the favored case as long as 0.7729 near term resistance holds.

At this point, AUD/USD’s rebound from 0.7158 could still extend higher. But we’d expect strong resistance from 0.7777/7833 resistance zone to limit upside and bring near term reversal. Intraday bias in AUD/USD is turned back to the upside with breaking of 0.7562 minor resistance. Break of 0.7609 resistance will indicate resumption of rise from 0.7472 and target 0.7748 high. That will also argue that whole rally from 0.7158 is resuming and put 0.7849 key resistance fibonacci level in focus. On the downside, below 0.71490 will now likely send AUD/USD through 0.7472 low.

AUD/USD’s fall from 0.8135 is still in progress and intraday bias remains on the downside for retesting 0.7500 support. At this point, there is no clearly sign of larger trend reversal yet. Hence, we’d look for strong support from 0.7500 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, above 0.7909 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 0.8135 high.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 0.6826 is seen as a corrective move. It might still extend higher but we’d expect strong resistance from 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 to limit upside to bring long term down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 0.7500 support will now be an important signal that such corrective rebound is completed.

AUD/USD drops to as low as 0.7783 so far today. Break of 0.7732 support confirms resumption of decline from 0.8124. Intraday bias is back on the downside for medium term fibonacci level at 0.7628 first. Current development affirms the case of medium term reversal. Firm break of 0.7628 will pave the way to 0.7328 key support next. On the upside, above 0.7769 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But outlook will remain cautiously bearish as long as 0.7896 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, rise from 0.6826 medium term bottom is seen as corrective pattern. Current development suggests that it might be completed with three waves up to 0.8124 already. Break of 38.2% retracement of 0.6826 to 0.8124 at 0.7628 will affirm this bearish case. And, decisive break of 0.7328 key cluster support (61.8% retracement at 0.7322) will confirm and bring retest of 0.6826 low. In case rise from 0.6826 resumes and extends, strong resistance should be seen at 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 to limit upside.

While the corrective rise from 0.6831 could extend higher, upside should be limited by 0.7022 resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, below 0.6937 minor support will turn bias to the downside for retesting 0.6831 low first. Break there will resume the decline from 0.7295 to 0.6722 low next. However, firm break of 0.7022 will indicate near term reversal and turn outlook bullish for 0.7205 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, with 0.7393 key resistance intact, medium term outlook remains bearish. The decline from 0.8135 (2018 high) is seen as resuming long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Decisive break of 0.6826 (2016 low) will confirm this bearish view and resume the down trend to 0.6008 (2008 low). However, firm break of 0.7393 will argue that fall from 0.8135 has completed. Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral and some more consolidation could be seen above 0.6864 temporary low. In case of another rise, upside should be limited by 0.6988/7069 resistance zone to bring fall resumption. In the bigger picture, with 0.7393 key resistance intact, medium term outlook remains bearish. The decline from 0.8135 (2018 high) is seen as resuming long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). In the bigger picture, price actions from 0.6169 (2022 low) are seen as a medium term corrective pattern to the down trend from 0.8006 (2021 high). Fall from 0.7156 (2023 high) is seen as the second leg, which could have completed at 0.6269 already. AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD’s consolidation from 0.8065 continued last week and stayed above 0.7877 support. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. Further rise is in still favor with 0.7877 support intact. Break of 0.8065 will target 100% projection of 0.6826 to 0.7833 from 0.7328 at 0.8335. Nonetheless, break of 0.7877 will indicate short term topping, with bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 0.7711 resistance turned support.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that rebound from 0.6826 is developing into a medium term rise. There is no confirmation of trend reversal yet and we’ll continue to treat such rebound as a corrective pattern. But in any case, break of 55 month EMA (now at 0.8100) will target 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451. Break of 0.7328 support is needed to confirm completion of the rebound. Otherwise, further rise is now expected.

In the longer term picture, 0.6826 is seen as a long term bottom. Rise from there could either reverse the down trend from 1.1079, or just develop into a corrective pattern. At this point, we’re favoring the latter. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 holds, we’d anticipate another decline through 0.6826 at a later stage.
